Wanted for New Murder: Suspect Joran van der Sloot captured in Chile

Now accused of murder in Peru, chief Natalee Holloway suspect Joran van der Sloot, who has never been charged in connection with her 2005 disappearance and presumed killing, was jailed Thursday in Chile after apparently fleeing Lima, Peru, where a dead woman was found in his hotel room Sunday.

Police said Stephanie Flores, 21, appeared to have been stabbed to death.

At the eye of Thursday’s perfect storm of bad karma and bad luck, the steely-eyed Aruban was also charged with extortion by U.S. authorities in Birmingham, Alabama, Holloway’s home town, exactly five years after the college-bound cheerleader was last spotted with van der Sloot on spring break in Aruba. Her body has never been found.

U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance said the timing of wire fraud and extortion charges is strictly coincidental to van der Sloot’s arrest in Chile. Read the rest of this entry »

In a letter to her sister in law, Misty Croslin says police may have searched the wrong dock for Haleigh’s body, she says.

We all recall the dramatic trip to the St. John’s River, where detectives lead Croslin out to the dock, only we didn’t know why — until The Bald Truth revealed what her lawyer and family members confirm she wrote Chelsea Croslin in a recent letter from the St. John’s County Jail.

Misty Croslin’s lawyer, Robert Fields, tells journalist Art Harris of The Bald Truth that his client told police everything she knew about what happened to Haleigh Cummings within hours of her drug trafficking bust, but asked her to keep that fact quiet.

Hank Croslin, Sr. Warns Misty: don’t talk to “that sumbitch, Art Harris”

Misty Croslin made our day when we heard her plug The Bald Truth in the recent batch of shocking video lock-up tapes released by the St. John’s County Jail, where she’s being held on drug trafficking charges pending a June 6 court date. We talk about the tapes on The Nancy Grace Show tonight on HLN at 8 and 10 p.m., est, so please tune in.

On this family visit, her father, Hank Croslin, Sr. warns his daughter to stop talking to “that sumbitch, Art Harris,” and any relatives we may be talking with because “he lies, and makes up sh– to get on Nancy Grace,” like something he reports that an obviously whacked out blogger erroneously or on purpose tells him we reported that we never did –that his daughter had engaged in “lesbian” activities with one time mentor and undercover Mama Donna Brock, one of her accused co-conspirator on drug trafficking charges.

Hank, we can reassure you we’ve never written any such thing. Misty’s sex life is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay down on our list, unless it can shed light on her activities leading up to the night she reported Haleigh Cummings had vanished. Read the rest of this entry »
