A key witness in the Anthony Pellicano wiretap trial, a former Los Angeles Times reporter who got a dead fish wrapped in a newspaper as a warning to stop writing about a Pellicano client, is now caught in the cross-hairs of two journalists once working with her on a book about the case — until she called it off.
It’s all in the latest dispatch from our intrepid trial correspondent, veteran PI John Nazarian, who has been sitting in the courtroom and lays out the lilterati war between ex LAT reporter Anita Busch, the dead fish target, Dan Modea, a veteran investigative journalist, and another writer, John Connolly, frequent Vanity Fair contributor. While FOX News is promoting Howard K. Stern’s live Tuesday night interview with Greta Van Susteren as “shocking” before the first word has been uttered, perhaps the biggest shock of all is that Anna Nicole Smith’s lawyer and longtime companion accepted an invite to go on a talk show he’s declined until now.
Many of his critics have grown uncharacteristically silent, or at least subdued, since the Bahamas inquest jury into the death of Anna Nicole Smith’s son, Daniel, last week ruled the 20 year old with a history of depression and drug issues, died of an accidental drug overdose that Stern, nor anyone else, had anything to do with. LOS ANGELES, April 2–Well it is almost 9:40 AM and here comes Sandra Will Carradine, the former wife of actor Keith, married in 1982 and all done November 2000!
One of the lawyers from Terry Christensen’s (an attorney to be tried in a separate trial after Pellicano) firm moved closer to get a better seat and view when she came in. She tells us that when she met the Pelican to try and bag her husband’s financial information, it was the normal $25,000 retainer, and the games begin! She was asked if she knew that she had been “recorded secretly?” Read the rest of this entry »

And the band played on, what is going on? I am probably more confused now as to the criminal justice system than when I started my career many years ago!
Now I know that the system is good, and for the most part works. The prosecutors on this case are right on top of their game and seldom if ever miss a beat!
Howard K. Stern Outside Court Monday After Verdict
By Art Harris, (c) www.artharris.com, all rights reserved—-Updated 11:30 p.m. est.
A coroner’s jury in the Bahamas looking into the death of Anna Nicole Smith’s son, Daniel, declared Monday the 20 year old died of “non-dependent drug use,” in other words, an accidental overdose, ruling no further criminal investigation necessary.
The verdict certainly exonerates Anna Nicole’s long time companion Howard K. Stern of any wrong-doing. “There was never any evidence to suggest Howard did anything wrong,” said popular Bahamas talk show host Lincoln Bain in an exclusive telephone interview after sitting in on court Monday. LOS ANGELES, March 26—-Movie producer Charles Victor Roven (Batman Begins, Three Kings) comes in on Tuesday, and sits and listens with us to Exhibit 54a, a recording of his former partner, director John McTiernan (Diehard, Predator) telling Anthony Pellicano that Roven is a “rich fuck-up” and “is what he is.”
That had to hurt. A rich fuck-up, is that any different than a poor one…YES!
Roven was the producer and McTiernan the director of the remake of Rollerball, a movie that I hated…Pellicano tells “McT” that he has “to listen to every one of them,” i.e. the wiretaps of Mr. Roven and his wife. This guy McT is getting the Pellicano massage of removing his money from his wallet. Pellicano tells him that he still owes $25,000.00, and that there is so much more work to be done…

This Easter Holiday weekend, I was reflecting on the events of the last two weeks, and wondering whether if I were in trouble, in litigation as a defendant or lawyer, what would I do? I was baptized a Catholic and did attend as a child, and spent years in churches as an adult working as an embalmer, so I have been places where Jesus should have been hanging out!
Some pray, and others go reach for their cellphone and call their lawyers for help. Praying can be cheaper, but for the rich? Instant satisfaction is the only way to go, and church for them is the City National Bank located in Beverly Hills! Just down the street from the Good Shepherd. Read the rest of this entry »

LOS ANGELES, March 20–The court will not be in session on Friday the 21st and Monday the 24th. Everyone needs a break and I do mean everyone.
It will give Anthony Pellicano a chance to get back his “soft-spoken” persona, as the “old asshole” Tony is leaking through his act. But there was plenty happening today!
One of the first out of the box this morning was a young man who happened to be an attorney. Always fun to watch lawyers snap at each other’s heels! Gregory Dovel, Esquire is the attorney for Bo Zenga.
One funny line of questioning was when it was revealed that Mr. Zenga had lied about his so-called credentials. He wrote on an application of some sort that he was a “winner” in a movie script contest! Read the rest of this entry »

Well after a long break from the land of “Omerta,” we were all back and into the swing of things.
My son Mikee and I arrived a little early and we both noticed that the defendants and their lawyers have issues in their style and dress!
Arneson is always dressed to the nines, a little bit more polish and he would look like the guys at RHD — Robbery Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department are some very smart dressers. Read the rest of this entry »

On the last day of the second week in Anthony Pellicano’s celebrity wiretap trial, (comedian) Garry Shandling strolled in to tell his sad story and it was just that, sad.
As I was arriving this morning, I noticed a nice black BMW 700 series in the back where the Feds can get people in while avoiding the cameras and reporters, then a little after 8 am Mr. Shandling made his appearance. He started the proceedings with a little humor; when asked what he did for a living, he said, “That’s a bad sign, I’m a comedian.” The room erupted with laugher, and Judge Dale Fischer, also has good timing, said, “Not today sir! “ This judge is a class act and a true credit to her profession.
