In two suicide notes released by police Monday in Tarpon Springs, Florida, Deborah Jeane Palfrey tells her mother and sister she’s sorry, but sees suicide as the only “exit strategy” after she was convicted as the so called “D.C. Madam.”
She sounds bitter about the “modern day lynching,” as she termed her prosecution and convicition, and was not optimistic about what she expected would be a long prison term at her sentencing on July 24. She tells her family her late father will lead her “into the light,” and expects to see them on “the other side.”

A daughter’s suicide, a mother’s anguish, millions in taxpayer dollars down the rathole to investigate what many call a victimless crime…
Some believe Deborah Jeane Palfrey, aka “The D.C. Madam,” and maybe the college professor who also committed suicide after she was exposed for teaching by day and tricking by night, are the only real victims here. Digital era Hester Prynes stamped with the Scarlet e-mails. Read the rest of this entry »

LOS ANGELES, April 2–Well it is almost 9:40 AM and here comes Sandra Will Carradine, the former wife of actor Keith, married in 1982 and all done November 2000!
One of the lawyers from Terry Christensen’s (an attorney to be tried in a separate trial after Pellicano) firm moved closer to get a better seat and view when she came in. She tells us that when she met the Pelican to try and bag her husband’s financial information, it was the normal $25,000 retainer, and the games begin! She was asked if she knew that she had been “recorded secretly?” Read the rest of this entry »

And the band played on, what is going on? I am probably more confused now as to the criminal justice system than when I started my career many years ago!
Now I know that the system is good, and for the most part works. The prosecutors on this case are right on top of their game and seldom if ever miss a beat!

LOS ANGELES, MARCH 26–Well, after a three day break in the fun and games of the Pellicano trial, aka “Omerta is dead,” we were met Tuesday morning by a gentleman named Peter L. Knecht, Esquire.
His client and friend is a guy named Bilal Barody…a guy who claimed to live almost everywhere and then again nowhere. A castle, a condo on the Wishire corridor, or who knows. He does, however, owe “Ronny” $300,000.00 and is being handled by “Ronny’s” friend Pellicano. Oh, I almost forgot, “Ronny” is also known as Ron Meyer, the CEO of Universal Studios! Yes, another Mr. Big! Read the rest of this entry »

This Easter Holiday weekend, I was reflecting on the events of the last two weeks, and wondering whether if I were in trouble, in litigation as a defendant or lawyer, what would I do? I was baptized a Catholic and did attend as a child, and spent years in churches as an adult working as an embalmer, so I have been places where Jesus should have been hanging out!
Some pray, and others go reach for their cellphone and call their lawyers for help. Praying can be cheaper, but for the rich? Instant satisfaction is the only way to go, and church for them is the City National Bank located in Beverly Hills! Just down the street from the Good Shepherd. Read the rest of this entry »

With one departing governor’s call girl scandal still buzzing, now incoming New York Gov. David Paterson confesses he’s had flings outside the bonds of marriage, too.
It’s almost too much sex scandal in one state to digest. Another Love Guv from New York!
Not only that, Paterson’s wife has also confirmed she’s an extra-marital wanderer, too, according to The New York Daily News. Read the rest of this entry »

With the implosion of N.Y. Gov. Elliot Spitzer for frequenting the same high-priced escorts he enjoyed busting as a prosecutor, we’ve compiled a farewell rogues gallery so he won’t feel so alone.
Former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey resigned in 2004 confessing an affair with another man, but this week The Other Man, the former driver, revealed the Gov was really bisexual and that he’d been the third wheel with McGreevey and wife, Dina, for years. He only came forward in the New York Post, he said, after hearing the ex-wife trash Gov. Spitzer as a hypocrite.
“Not only would I not knowingly have married a gay man, but I would never have allowed a gay man to father my child,” wrote Dina Matos in her memoir last year. Mid-divorce, the ex- first couple of New Jersey has a 6-year-old daughter, Jacqueline. Read the rest of this entry »
Legendary Litigator John O’Quinn With Admirers At Firm’s Annual Xmas Party Saturday
By Art Harris, www.artharris.com, all rights reserved
We were blown away Saturday night to have snagged an invite to the annual Christmas soiree thrown by legendary Texas litigator John O’Quinn, who, even by Texas standards, knows how to throw a 10-gallon party.
It took a while for our sultry correspondent to meander through the maze of black ties, cowboy boots and bejeweled designer belles–all required to flash an elite invite and procure an armband that, gasp, covered up some blinding Texas bling flashed by what writer Tom Wolfe might have dubbed mighty fine lemon tartes.
We counted maybe 1,000 of the law firm’s best friends, clients and colleagues. all co-mingling, fantasizing about sugar plum bonus checks and lining up at the giant martini bar by the giant Star of Texas ice sculpture to slake powerful thrists…Then, it was on to partaaaaaay! In a last ditch effort to turn suspicion spun in Texas into prison stripes for Howard K. Stern, The Bald Truth has learned Team Virgie suffered a major defeat when Florida prosecutors slammed the door on Don Clark’s desperate plea for a meeting to lay out a theory “supporting our claim of possible foul play” in the death of Anna Nicole Smith.
According to letters obtained exclusively by The Bald Truth, Clark invoked the full weight of his FBI career and status as a television “news analyst”— to pressure prosecutors to crank up a brand new “independent criminal investigation into the death of Anna Nicole Smith.”
That’s what Clark wrote July 23, billing himself as “investigative strategist and jury consultant” for legendary Texas litigator John 0’Quinn. Read the rest of this entry »
