He stood with lips pursed late Friday night in a Las Vegas courtroom, just like I remember O.J. Simpson did 13 years ago when I watched a Los Angeles jury acquit him of double murder despite overwhelming DNA evidence tying him to the brutal knifings of his ex wife, Nicole, and waiter Ron Goldman.
Again, I watched as the bailiff read the verdict: guilty on all counts for armed robbery and kidnapping stemming from the heist of memorabilia he claimed collectors had stolen from him and he was simply taking back in a Las Vegas hotel room last year, backed by armed goons. A long-time O.J. Simpson insider and former manager who claims he heard Simpson confess to killing his estranged wife and Ron Goldman, says the ex-football star described Nicole Brown Simpson opening the door that bloody night in 1994 with a large knife in her hand – the mystery murder weapon that was never found.
As someone who covered the trial and knew how frustrated LAPD homicide detectives became as they hunted for the mystery knife, I found that to be the most compelling detail in Mike Gilbert’s book, “How I Helped O.J. Get Away With Murder: The Shocking Inside Story of Violence, Loyalty, Regret and Remorse” (Regnery Publishing, 232 pages, $27.95). It went on sale Monday. Read the rest of this entry »

O.J. “Victim” Alfred Beardsley, Arrested in LA: Did He Threaten Witness?

The Bald Truth has learned a sports memorabilia dealer who says he was robbed by O.J. Simpson and armed men in a Las Vegas hotel—and was arrested Wednesday after making alleged threats “to boil the family cat” of a witness in the case – has a history of making threats, stalking, road rage, assault, probation violations–and prison.
According to court records detailing a string of violent episodes dating back eight years and obtained by The Bald Truth, Alfred Beardsley appears to be a nutcase waiting to blow—and may turn out to be perhaps the best prosecution witnesses OJ’s defense team could ever hope to find.
“All of the witnesses in the current O.J. Simpson case come to court with a prior history of bad acts,” Simpson lawyer Yale Galanter told me Thursday. “This case should never have been prosecuted. Alfred Beardsley’s current arrest… makes that perfectly clear.” Read the rest of this entry »

With a straight face, O.J. Simpson’s lawyers Friday are expected to ask a Las Vegas judge in his upcoming April armed robbery trial to ban any mention of his ties to the brutal double murders of Ron Goldman and his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson.
He was acquitted at a criminal trial in 1995, but found responsible for the killings at a later civil trial and ordered to pay the estate of Ron Goldman a judgment now worth $40 million. The family has tried to seize Simpson assets without success, except for his book, “If I Did It,” now owned by the Goldmans.
According to court papers obtained by The Bald Truth (see next page), Simpson lawyers will ask that half a dozen charges against Simpson be dropped, including kidnapping and armed robbery, stemming from the gun-toting posse of pals he allegedly lead into a Las Vegas hotel last year to retrieve his memorabilia, including the suit he wore at the vintage double murder trial.
