Tommy Croslin Got 15 for Drugs, Lies, No Body
Art Harris on JVM Aug.6: Drug Sentence Sends Message

With most low profile drug trafficking cases in the Putnam County and surrounding areas scoring beween 3-5 years for the felon, how could Tommy Croslin draw 3 to five times the amount of hard time?
For one, he’s an addict who happened to be involved with the wrong people at the wrong time — and one of the last people to admit seeing missing five year old Haleigh Cummings alive.
Sources close to the case have told us Croslin had to know what was coming after law enforcement expressed their displeasure with how little they learned about the missing child case from the high drama search he lead them on down by the St. John’s River, where Croslin claimed cousin Joe Overstreet took him and tossed Haleigh’s body.
He’s a “typical drug trafficker,” said Assistant State Attorney Jason Lewis at Croslin’s sentencing hearing, where he called Travis Smith, a lead agent with Florida Department of Law Enforcement who has overseen the drug case and rolled up his sleeves in the missing child case as well.
“The whole meat and potatoes on the Haleigh Cummings investigation is what happened that night,” Smith said. “We have yet to (hear) what truthfully happened … With Misty and Tommy, every time we interview them it’s a different story. We don’t know what the true story is because we can’t tell who’s lying.”
Lewis called Croslin “a suspect” in the Haleigh case, and uncooperative as a player.

I don't believe these people will ever tell the truth. I guess, we may have to be satisfied with drug prosecutions for the death of this child.

Let this serve as notice to the rest of the "players" in this case that they can't expect to play with a little girl's life like this and not expect to get caught in the net. Word up, Misty, Joe, Lisa and Hank!

I am assuming that LE and the judge know firsthand that Misty and Tommy are directly involved in the Haleigh disappearance but will be unable to prove it in a court of law. These two have lied repeatedly and have flunked lie detector tests often enough that the truth will never come out. As a result, throwing the book at both of them on drug charges will be as close as they can get to serving justice and they each can expect to spend some serious time in jail.
Misty won't "give it up" since she is responsible and stands to serve less time on drug charges rather than murder. And I doubt she would confess outright owing to her attachment to Ron. Best to remain silent and take her chances with a more lenient drug related sentence which I am sure her attorney has advised.
Tommy as well. If he admits to his actual involvement, he stands to spend more time in jail. The 15 yr sentence may seem harsh to some but it is the best the judge can do to ensure he faces some measure of retribution in a crime they more than likely will not solve.
Something happened that night that involved Misty and Haleigh and Tommy was called in to hide the evidence. It may have been nothing more than an accident at first but their conspiracy to create a fake kidnapping led to where they are today. Each one holds the key and pointing the finger at Cousin Joe is just their way of taking the heat off of themselves.
I never bought the excuse that Misty was too drugged out to remember what happened. Her phone call at 3am showed her to be alert. Someone had to help her place those concrete bricks in the doorway to set up a fake kidnapping scene. Misty was very busy during those hours between 8pm and 3am creating a scenario that made no sense.

Hi Art. Here's a theory i want to run by you and the posters here. Let's just say for a minute that Joe was part of an armed robbery. Not much of a leap since we know he, at the least has friends who rob people at gunpoint (or with some kind of weapon). Tommy is a major thief, as far as we know he doesn't commit armed robbery but he will steal from anyone it seems. Remember when TC told LE he went by the MH and nobody was there? Well, what if he did since he only lived a few doors away, then called Joe and said hey, we can go get the rifle RC was showing us, just have to wait for LC to get home and go to bed?His only lie would have been the time he went there. So, they go there thinking nobody was home, but it's a problem when Haleigh and/or Misty hears them and one or both of the guys panic. IF that happened, the elements of truth are there but maybe what happened after that was altered, showing up as false statements. It's possible, that was the basic theory a long time ago. Just a thought.

Hi Art. Any updates on Joe? Did he have a court appearance yesterday and if so how did it go? Just wondering, haven't heard anything about it. Was it a court date to plead guilty or not guilty? Just waiting for him to say those weren't his plants,or " he doesn't remember seeing/planting any". Know what i mean? He might just be bold enough to say that!

sadie2010 –
Let's wait to hear what Ron has to say before we think about being satisfied with drug prosecutions? I guess he has to wait for Misty. But if he's all he says he is (and I have my doubts) he'll shed some light on all of this.
The only thing I can figure is that any and all time that Misty and Tommy get for the drug trafficking is less than what they would get if LE knew what went down that night.

The truth will be known, but not until it's safe tell it..That could be years.. I refuse to believe this will remain unsolved indefinately.. Haleigh's voice will be heard, and someone will finally break, out of love for Haleigh…That is my hope..

Word on the Streets "hear" in the swamps are:
1 – Some good ole folks at the sentencing of TC saw a couple of different faces present in the court room…. a couple of seats behind TC…….(taking notes…..journalist? Doubtful) They were seated with Marie Griffis, the Bio Grandmother of HaLeigh Cummings, and were all seen leaving the sentencing together, with a type of "Police Escort" – as to avoid ANY media….and then ONE of the women left in the car with Marie.
2 – Some "passer-byer's" are reporting, that at least ONE of these "faces" was spotted near the location Timmy & Chelsea lived (off Paradise Shores near Crescent City)……Entering and remaining in a section of the "woods" for a lengthy amount of time.
3 – It was also stated (or, I guess – rumored) that it also appeared at one point, a LE agent was also seen in the same wooded location at the same time
4 – Some are also saying, this same area was searched soon after the arrest of the druggies
Humm….One would have to wonder what all this means? It is being suggested, also – maybe this ONE face was "working" privately with the Bio side of the family? Perhaps with LE, too – but doubtful…….Is she a friend or more? Speculation among some are she is a psychic working on the case, privately? Because there is NO word OUT on this, her, them, etc….perhaps, this is an indication that, if she is a TRUE psychic, they are getting close to some answers?
It doesn't look like the thugs jailed are going to talk or make a deal……I guess we'll all have to wait and see.

Art, liked the expression "Pulp Fiction"(regarding Misty).. That is so true!
Hope that Tommy will talk some day, I think it will not be easy serving time.

I guess the saying "it ain't over til it's over" could apply here because it's cases like this that LE officer's just can't or don't ever give up on. You never know when an overlooked piece of evidence jump starts the case, or if someone finally tells the truth, or remains are found in some remote location etc. So much can happen, right now we just don't know if it is to be but i have a feeling that FDLE has officer's so dedicated to this case they won't stop no matter how long it takes. I think (hope) the recent developments with Joe Overstreet might bring something new, i was hoping for this a long time ago. It depends on what he knows, what he did, and what time he's looking at. He's going to take the best deal for him no matter what. imo

I don't see where Misty would get more time for negligent homicide than the 105 years she is facing on the drug counts……don't see it…..she better off with the neg hom charges. I still can't believe with the long history of Ronald Cummings arrests that he has NEVER served any prison time before. Could it be because his mother works for LE???? And why does LE show favoritism to Ronald????? Does make one wonder if there is corruption in LE there in Putnum County. Too much ink in the water!!!!

Hi Art,
Just a question, Art; Can we really, really rule out Ron in the murder and/or disappearance regarding Haleigh? This is not to say that I think R.C. had anything to do with it. Or vice versa. Anyway Art, do you feel that the cops have ruled him out completely? Personally, just because he was seen at work, or just because an employee punches in or out at work….none of this means (IMO) that he can not be ruled out 100%. Hypothetically speaking of course, Haleigh could have been harmed and/or taken BEFORE Ron went to work. Possibly an accident. Or not. Again, I'm not saying that this is my theory. So, my question is Art…Do you think that the police have ruled out Ron completely? Or do you think that they are still open to this being a possiblity? I don't know all that much regarding this particuliar police force. IMO, it would be a shame, a crime & a major injustice to sweet, precious Haleigh if any of these characters were eliminated, yet. Thanx Art,

While he’s been ruled out, don’t count him out…approve
