Joseph Edward Overstreet arrested, bonds out on drug charges Monday

Joseph Edward Overstreet, 21, the so called “cousin Joe” Misty Croslin blames for kidnapping a five year old she was babysitting, was jailed Sunday night in Nashville, Tennessee, on an unrelated felony drug charge, manufacturing marijuana, and possession.
At 7:57 pm Sunday,.records show Overstreet was booked into the Davidson County Criminal Justice Center (CJC), a medium/maximum facility build in 1982 that can house 807 inmates; bond was at $7,000. Within hours, he had bonded out.
A sheriff’s deputy tells The Bald Truth that Overstreet will be arraigned at 9 a.m. August 12 in downtown Nashville.
Overstreet denies he was involved in Haleigh gone missing and says he’s a convenient family scapegoat, blamed by Misty and brother Tommy Croslin, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison for felony drug trafficking on Friday.
Misty’s trial on her drug trafficking charges starts Aug. 23 in Putnam County, Fla. Her ex-husband, Ronald Cummings, is gunning for a 15 year plea deal for his role in the drug dealing and may testify against Misty, but won’t be sentenced until after her trial, so authorities can determine how cooperative he’s been.
A family member alerted The Bald Truth earlier Sunday evening that Overstreet’s home in Antioch, Tennessee was “surrounded by police cars,” and that he was handcuffed and sitting in the backseat of a cruiser.
“My nephew called to tell me the place was covered up with police cars,” said Flora Hollars in an exclusive interview with The Bald Truth. “His parents don’t even know.”
Both parents are long haul truckers, and could not be reached for comment. Hollars tells me they were close to crossing the Texas Mexico border when their boy was busted. “They won’t be very happy,” Hollars told me.
Florida investigators working on Haleigh Cummings were also scrambling for details. ”I got a call from one detective asking if I knew what was going on up there,” she went on.
No Putnam County officials could be reached Sunday night regarding how this might affect the seemingly stalled Haleigh Cummings probe, but if the arrest gives detectives a new excuse, or fresh access, to pay Overstreet a visit, either behind bars, or at home, it could offer law enforcement a chance to leverage information, and breathe new life into the probe.
Overstreet has an attorney, and, like Tommy Croslin’s, has insisted being present during any questioning.

I will be very interested to see how much time he serves….. I dont believe it will be 15 years and I have always believed he was in Fla to deliver drugs to Ron and poor precious Raliegh was murdered due to Ron not paying for the delivery……

My God! The reason they haven't found Haleigh dead/alive is because they are barking up the wrong tree! Every Croslin is behind bars and dontcha think if any of them had ANY answers to Haleigh it already would have come out long before now? But wait… there is one more Croslin who upped and left Satsuma very quickly. Timmy!
Tommy only got 15 years behind bars because it was Tommy who led them down to the river that didn't turn up a thing. Who really would have thunk Tommy had any useful information is beyond me to begin with but my bet is towards who Misty was with the night Haleigh disappeared. It isn't too far Fetched anymore that Nay Nay and Amber had a hand in this.. is it?? I do not believe for one minute that Haleigh Cummings is dead and until remains are found, I will always believe otherwise. If detectives could skip over to the "motive" in this case instead of looking at who took Haleigh, I think the pieces would finally come together.

Anyone digging into the etiology of this dysfunctional family can begin with Flo Hollars for starters. This woman makes me sick and I question why any tv program would seek her out for any commentary, particularly when considering that the people she chooses to talk about are her own blood relations.
Lisa Croslin is her daughter. Joe, Misty, and Tommy are her grandchildren. Something tells me that if the press dug a little deeper into Flo's life they would not be surprised to find that her background is not much different from those she is asked to talk about.
Any other mother and grandmother would not be as willing to come on tv and discuss the fact that perhaps two of her grandchildren "raped" and killed a child as willingly as Ms. Hollars but would be more than likely weep at the prospect rather than "exploit" herself as some fountain of wisdom.
She turns my stomach and I refuse to watch any show that insists on interviewing this witch.

Hey Art, So happy to hear that Joe was in jail, however short a time! I hope that the LE gets to question him, much more detailed now! I still can't get over the fact, what when he left after Haleigh was first missing, and dumping his things along the drive back. We don't know anything about that. Just that the LE actually found it! Art, help, this has really been bugging me! If you could find anything about this, I would be eternitally grateful!!! Oh my, what a bunch! I really wonder if LE will ever solve Haleigh's Case. Wonder who will be next? Timmy & Chelsea? TN? LE has their radar on the Croslin's, or at least they are the only ones we hear about through the media. But what about the Cummings side? Why the big secrecy? I find it very suspicious that PC has not/will not release Ron's jail calls/visits. I am guessing-assuming-of the opinion it's because there are things said on the calls that PC doesn't want the public to hear? The media went all out in the Caylee Anthony case and has spent thousands to publish audios and discovery.

In Haleigh case, we hear nothing. LE said that they feel she is dead. So, Haleigh's case is now a Murder investigation, yes nobody has been charged but still it is an ongoing investigation. I can understand LE not releasing anything in the Murder case, but what about the Drug case? Misty, Ron, Hope, and Donna have been "CHARGED" so doesn't the public have the right to know what is going on? Hear the jail calls/visits? Is that not part of the the Sunshine Law? This arrest of Joe makes me wonder if maybe Ronald and Joe had some type of drug/gun ring going on and maybe Haleigh got hurt during an altercation or sold and taken into Mexico. I wonder if any unidentified children have been found in Mexico or near the boarder?

Art, I just read the affidavit that said the initial reason the police were there was because of an "overnight aggravated assault" involving a stolen vehicle, that they found the vehicle in Joe's backyard and verified it to be the correct car with the VIN number, that when they were in the backyard, they found several pot plants, then on further investigation, they found a metal tin inside the home that had pot, paraphernalia, and Joe's drivers license in it……. IMO, the interview I saw, they tried to make him seem quiet, timid, unable to hurt anyone, crying during the interview, the "scapegoat" this goes to show that "the truth rings out" obviously, he is capable of doing harm.

Ron is the key. The others don't want to be nailed as accessories. He has a bad temper
and a mean streak. He was offering up the gun for helpimg him get rid of Haleigh. After
they helped he had already moved the gun so it was too late for them to get out of the
situation. There is some real bad karma at play here. God help them.

Agreed the 35 million satsuma shekels would have made anyone talk if they knew anything. I think it will take LE time to find what they need to get a conviction. There has been so many lies and so much confusion. Maybe, just maybe, within 15 years they can find what they need to put all the pillbillys in jail for a long, long time. There has to be some evidence, somewhere, that will garner a conviction. We’ve all seen that before. I just want to see Haleigh have some justice. Little children should not suffer. Eight down (including Mom n Pop), and one to go.. Timmy is the lone one standing…He left town immediately after Haleigh disappeared…Why the rush? Did he think getting far away would keep him free? I think he was involved in some way.. The above info came from Hollars…If there were no records to back it up, I would not believe her..Her whole family is against her, except for the nephew who revealed this info about Joe O.. I'm still not sure if she really wants to find Haleigh, or her fifteen minutes of fame, but any, and all information helps..I don't think Joe was involved directly…The main culprit is behind bars.. Unless Timmy is living a squeaky clean life in Mass., it shouldn't be hard to arrest him…..Misty, Ron and Tommy will serve their time, and not reveal any more info.. IMO

Hey Art!__Can't believe it, I wrote the 1st comment and it didn't show….oops I may have been deleted!____Anyways, I was so happy to hear, that LE had Joe Overstreet in jail, although, like you said'briefly'. I'm hoping that this will lead more questioning, looking into his life, these past 18 plus months. I have this one thing, that still bothers me, of him getting rid of some of his stuff, while driving back home….for w/e reason, LE found these items!__That's all we know! That is, unless you have heard more about what these items were, etc. It's really been driving me 'crazy'. So, Art, do you have any, or can get any info. about Joe's actions? He really has been the dark horse, with regards to Haleigh going missing. i still believe that Haleigh died at the hands of her own father, Misty loves him enough to tell her brother Tommy that she killed Haleigh, and he has been covering for her by saying that Joe did it. It may sound screwed up, but this is about the most screwed up bunch of folks I have ever seen. Think about early on, how Ron had called home from work several times, WHY? Remember how he said he would kill the person who took Haleigh, yet when the cops told him they were sure Misty was involved he only said that he was disappointed in her. DISAPPOINTED?????? This guy is a creep, and its high time the cops did something about this and get it over with.

I would like to add, that if the laws would change, and it can be proven that any adult hurt, killed, raped a child that they would be put to DEATH within a week of their sentence, and the law would enforce this, most of this crap will come to a stop. There is just no justice for children in our country. Not like there should be. We constantly see stupid liberal judges give slaps on the wrist to these scabs on society, I personally think they should die by firing squad, and they should be made to suffer before a deadly bullet puts them out of they're miserable lives. Or better yet a good public hanging could work wonders. I know I sound angry, and I am angry, because everyday we see this happening and then it takes months or years to find the person responsible if they ever do. For all you loving parents out there hold your children close. There IS some piece of trash waiting to steal them away from you. For all you idiots who hurt your children, please take them to a hospital, police station, a fire department, to grandparents, sisters brothers, aunts uncles. Just don't hurt them anymore.

Back to basics. I think Haliegh was killed by Misty and that Tommy got rid of the body. I don' t think cousin Joe was involved. The Croslin drug addicts are a side show and I don't think that has anything to do with Halieghs death unless Misty hit her or pushed her when she couldn't cope coming down from 2 days of partying. The reason that neither is telling the truth and never will is because both would face possible life sentences, and have a better chance of getting out just on the drug charges. The police know they did it. And Cousin Joe, I think is a scape goat. Ron had nothing to do with it except making terrible choices and not being a better father.

Oh happy day! I had given up on ever seeing Joe behind bars, this may not be the smoking gun yet but it's a start. I have always believed he was involved and wondered why the heck LE in Tenn. hadn't gotten him behind bars by now. Too bad he's out on bail already but look at what they went there for! He and his gang are violent thugs who used power of intimidation. Maybe now people who said" look at little scrawny Joe, why would anyone be scared of him" will see him for what he is. It will be a shame if all they charge him with is a few pot plants when there was assault and robbery going on. I'm thrilled by this news none the less.

I cannot believe there are no new leads on this case, hopefully Joe will be indicted and brought to charges and will HAVE to give up info if he wants a plea…I am not so sure it was him because I never believed Mistys story from day one. I think its more than likely misty did something and had tommy cover for her: My oppinion only, maybe Joe was just there at the scene but I dont believe he busted in and took Haleigh because Misty would have sounded WAY more upset than she did on that 911 call. The fact is she waited till Ron got home and did not call until he told her too, then she wasted all this time before she even mentioned the "joe did it" story, Im just not buying it. Unless she herself gave Haleigh over to Joe, Im not buying the whole he did it all himself story.

A "Swat Team" for 5 marijuana plants???? What else did they find, rolling papers ,a pipe and maybe a roach clip ?? Oh, please ………… overkill for Overstreet ………. How come there is hardly any mention that Misty told Flora Hollars on a call from jail that she hit Haleigh in the head, and she died?? Granted Tommy dealt drugs, but 15 years? You could kill someone and get less time. Misty knows, but she is NEVER going to talk. She would have to implicate herself in the murder (which I believe was unintentional) and go away for life, or far longer than her drug conviction, an possibly implicate Ronald as well.Tommy helped her get rid of the body. Ronald called her over 20 times,that night, and also called Tommy, why ??? Suspicious at the least ………. There was NO kidnapping!!

I think Lisa 101 has the best idea. How did Ron take it when he learned his daughter had Turner's Syndrome? I know someone with it and she is mentally challenged and dependant on her parents as an adult. What were the circumstances that made Hayleigh's real mother give up physical custody of her children at the time? My experience is that poor battered women give up custody after the legal system fails them time and time again. They think it is better for their children not to see them beaten and killed by their father so they tip-toe around him. Just by what little I have seen of the real mother, she looks like she might have battered women's syndrome. She certainly isn't very vocal. And she wouldn't want to believe Ron killed their daughter. She has their son now. I agree with Lisa 101…too many phone calls that night from Ron to Misty. At best it would show he was controlling.
At worst, that Hayleigh was already dead.

Art…i have been looking at that picture of Joe for a while, can you tell what is wrapped around his wrist hanging down from the arm he is holding the gun in? It looks like a separate piece of clothing but i can't tell exactly what. Looks like he might have a headphone or something in his other hand, but is that a 2nd gun on his lap? Pics kind of fuzzy, hard to tell what all the objects are but that "cloth" doesn't look like part of his shirt. My suspicious mind is wondering if it's an article of clothing that might belong to someone else, what better way to send a message! Just wondering what you make of it.

Word on the Streets "hear" in the swamps are:
1 – Some good ole folks at the sentencing of TC saw a couple of different faces present in the court room…. a couple of seats behind TC…….(taking notes…..journalist? Doubtful) They were seated with Marie Griffis, the Bio Grandmother of HaLeigh Cummings, and were all seen leaving the sentencing together, with a type of "Police Escort" – as to avoid ANY media….and then ONE of the women left in the car with Marie.
2 – Some "passer-byer's" are reporting, that at least ONE of these "faces" was spotted near the location Timmy & Chelsea lived (off Paradise Shores near Crescent City)……Entering and remaining in a section of the "woods" for a lengthy amount of time.
3 – It was also stated (or, I guess – rumored) that it also appeared at one point, a LE agent was also seen in the same wooded location at the same time
4 – Some are also saying, this same area was searched soon after the arrest of the druggies
Humm….One would have to wonder what all this means? It is being suggested, also – maybe this ONE face was "working" privately with the Bio side of the family? Perhaps with LE, too – but doubtful…….Is she a friend or more? Speculation among some are she is a psychic working on the case, privately? Because there is NO word OUT on this, her, them, etc….perhaps, this is an indication that, if she is a TRUE psychic, they are getting close to some answers? History has shown us that the SILENCE from LE speaks volumes.
It doesn't look like the thugs jailed are going to talk or make a deal……I guess we'll all have to wait and see. Strange though that only DAYS after her "appearance" one of the only two remaining free of jail (Joe AND Timmy) was swarmed and arrested……..

I agree with you SpikedLemon…i was astounded the night LP just happened to drop that info as if we all knew about it, i don't think many people did before he said it. I had to wonder about it too b/c it was so odd. He didn't say where Joe threw away his stuff but the fact LE retrieved it and said there was nothing important sure makes you wonder. I wonder if he tossed other stuff along the way, not just the spot he told about. I wonder why someone would do that. It's kind of slick but a bit whacky. Tell LE all his stuff was at ____, then they assume they got it all, that way they don't look through his stuff at his home either. He could have gotten rid of anything and they never know about it if he discarded it in a different location. There's a lot of highway from Fla to Tenn! I'm not sure i would trust his travel partner 100% either, all things considered.

There is "a lot" of reason why I think the way I do Art and you know why but to answer your question, No. The ones who took her are not going to rat on the other because if they rat, they too would be behind bars for life. kidnapping is a pretty serious crime. Misty doesn't know what happened because its hard to know what happened when you are not home and for Misty to remotely think she should come forward with that information…. to her, is pointless for "numerous" reasons. I think Art your going to be shocked as all shocked when my theory one day comes to light. and when it does its not going to look too good to many.. you watch and see =) my hope is Haleigh is alive and no one will come forward because they all know the price they will pay. Its been done before is all I am saying…. and, the latest with Tommy.. oh brother, what else is he going to cook up?

leonard Padilla is starting to get it in so far he is thinking " Timmy" in massachusetts.. hmmmm think Timmy is the " only" one in the bunch who shouldn't be looked at as a suspect? I think Timmy's role in the entire thing was to bring the van over and stage a kidnapping so Misty wouldn't get in trouble for leaving two kids unattended while she went out. The person/people who took Haleigh knew Misty wasn't going to be home… thus leaving the back door open on their way out that left Misty in the dark entirely as to what was going to happen later. JMO but I have a gut feeling Art. and funny, a womans gut feeling usually turns out to be right.
