We bring you the latest in the Haleigh Cummings case Tonight (Thurs., May 13) on HLN’s Jane Velez Mitchell at 7 p.m. –and The Nancy Grace Show at 8 p.m. on Friday, when we’ll talk all about the new audio tape of Tommy Croslin’s phone call to Grandmother Flora Hollars in Tennessee, his many conflicting stories and what he says and doesn’t say on this tape–and whether it advances the police investigation into the missing five year old.
What we learned late Thursday is that this edited version — redacted by Tommy’s lawyer, James Werter–cuts out personal chats about his parents, and Lindsay’s telephone number. He says there were no conversations to cut akin to the ones his grandmother says they had, and believes she embellished…While we’re efforting an unedited version, we look forward to what you think…
Werter says Tommy decided to pony up on his own and share details about the night Haleigh vanished, Feb. 9, 2009, and had been holding back because he was afraid of cousin Joe Overstreet–and death threats both he and sister, Misty Croslin, claim the beady eyed cousin made against them and their families.
Only what’s not been fully explained is how Joe, a skinny little guy compared to the former six foot plus 180 pounder Tommy used to be in high school, could intimidate him far away in Tennessee. Misty Croslin, the babysitter on duty that night who went on to marry Ronald Cummings, then divorce him, only to reconcile in a drug deal gone bust, has said he put a knife to her throat and a brandished a gun that night…
Overstreet’s lawyer denies any involvement and says the cousins are pointing fingers to cover up their own involvement, skewering the Croslin family portrait of cousin Joe as Satsuma’s Napoleonic little psycho who kidnapped Haleigh and tossed her in the St. John’s River with rope and cinder blocks.
In mid-April, Tommy Croslin, behind bars on trafficking charges in the same jail that houses sister, Misty, lead investigators to the St. John’s River and a public boat ramp he claimed Joe used to toss Haleigh not far from where his parents once lived in Satsuma.
On the April 11 call, we hear him speaking with grandmother Hollars from jail, asking nervously for her to get his wife, Lindsay, on the phone, and directing her to fetch his lawyer.
“I need her to get my lawyer down here, it’s important,” Croslin says.
“I have to do something that I should have done a long time ago…just scared, don’t want no one to hurt my kids.”
Tommy and Lindsay Croslin have three children under six years old. Their son, Austin, rode the bus home with Haleigh the last day she was seen alive and has missed her terribly, his mother has told me.
When Hollars presses Tommy, asking him, “Do you know (who did it?), he replies:
“All I know is he’s got to pay; he can’t get to none of us so it don’t matter,” Croslin replies. “It ain’t me. No, it’s not me, she (wife, Lindsay) should know that…she’s already heard the story.”
“Is it the story that Misty said?” Hollars asks.
“Yeah, that’s it.”
“Joe?”
“Yelp.”
Joe is, of course, Joe Overstreet, the Antioch, Tenn. cousin who has denied any involvement. Investigators interviewed him again, after Tommy’s tip that lead to the recent river search. But he has yet to be arrested, and sources close to the case tell me he won’t be unless and until there’s enough evidence for prosecutors to make a case stick.
Hollars tells Tommy he confirmed her gut feeling.
“That’s what I been thinking all along,” she says.
“But he can’t get to me,” says Tommy, “he can’t get to them, so they’ll take care of it.”
At one point, Hollars serves up a rumor she’s heard–that Haleigh accidentally OD’d on one of her Dad’s pills left laying around the trailer, and Ronald called “you to get you to come up there and help Misty…”
“That’s bullsh–!” Tommy snaps, cutting her off, as Hollars goes on to suggest Ronald wanted him to clean “the house while he dispoed of Haleigh.”
“That’s bullsh—,” Croslin cut in.
“Ok, well, I’m glad you’re telling me the truth, baby, becasue I’ve been wanting to hear it for a long time, but I knowed it. I knowed it in my heart, all this time, I’ve knowed it.”
Croslin tells her Joe tried to kill them all. Werter has claimed his client did nothing to harm Haleigh.

This story by Tommy is so made up if he was worried about cousin Joe hurting the kids he would have talked months ago,And Tommy and Misty saying Joe threatened them that night when he took Haleigh is another Fairy Tale.Someone went to the Boatdock and thru bricks and a rope in the water that Law Enforcement located and i believe it was planted.
Somehow inside the jail Tommy and Misty was able to communicate with another person without them being recorded and i believe this is how they were able to call Grandma Flo around the same time and tell this story about Joe.
That night when Ronald made around 90 calls he could have been trying to confirm he was at work and making sure whatever the plan was they were taking care of it,Im positive Ronald had Drugs inside his house and somehow Haleigh died and Ronald and Misty would have been arrested and they covered up the death,Cousin Joe was more than likely told what happened because he could be trusted and got scared and took off to Nashville the next day.
With Ronald wanting to set up a tent in the back yard makes me believe he was worried that Law Enforcement wired his house for sound and he was scared,Ronald stayed around the tent and never went very far searching for Haleigh.
A family like Ronalds and Mistys that are strongly involved and have knowledge in pills and know what would happen if a death occured would cover up the crime and help each other, Everyone is blaming Cousin Joe,Have Ronald take a poly test and lets start this all over again.

At first blush you’d think law enforcement is ignoring Joe because its just rumor coming from a bevy of liars. I keep thinking of Chelsea’s van story on the night Haleigh disappeared. Both daughters-in-law seem down-to-earth (I can’t imagine how they got caught up with this bunch).
But I also think Joe is under constant surveillance in Antioch and now that Misty, Ron and Tommy are headed to prison there is no real rush to bring charges regarding Haleigh.
As soon as they do, the Sunshine Law comes into effect and the officials have to start giving up what they have–what they know. Lay their cards out on the table. I think le is doing the right things, even though I would love to know what they have…and where Haleigh’s little body lays.

Art you have a sign stating to email stories in confidence but wheres the email address?
Now for one thing you should not believe the Former FBI Agent that he broke the case because he evidently based that on the lies he was told by Tommy Croslin who we know lies and cannot pass a polygraph test. That should tell you what type of investigator the former FBI Agent is if he can’t get the truth out of that little punk.
Now if you want a true Investigator then you should use Jimmy Farrell of Farrell Investigations Inc 239-368-2511.
I have used this guy along with some of my friends for various cases and this guy is great.
He doesn’t advertise and he won’t take just any case.
He is well known in the Fort Myers Florida area and surrounding areas and he travels all over the country.
Just for your information you may not ever need an investigator but he maybe someone you could consult with on things.
Anyway thanks Art for all the hard work you do and keep up the great work and maybe one day Haliegh will be found or at least the truth of what happened.

This was a desperation call from Tommy.. IMO He kept saying “tell her to call my lawyer”..Why didn’t he tell this information much sooner? He said he was afraid for his children, yet he says he isn’t worried, the perpetrator can’t get to them…Joe, is not locked up, and could possibly get to the children. Without saying did he mean Ron, who can’t get to them because he is in jail? I don’t think Tommy is afraid of anyone except Ronald Cummings…then and now! Misty means the world to Tommy and he will cover for her to the end.. Misty is in love with Ronald, and will never implicate him..I think Timmy knows what happened, but it’s not likely he will talk. Maybe if he is locked up, but it’s still doubtful.. I also think Chelsey and Lindsay know what happened, but it’s a family pact they have made, ’til death do us part”..or so it seems..I don’t think Tommy is the key..I don’t think he was there, nor do I think he helped clean up..I believe Werter when he says, “I know what happened, and my client isn’t involved”..It isn’t Joe either…IMO

Tommy is lying again! He was afraid Lindsay was going to divorce him, so he gave another story that does not implicate him or his sister. He has no worries about his family and “cousin Joe”. Didn’t Misty at one time go and stay with her grandmother before she was arrested? Wasn’t cousin Joe there at that time? She didn’t appear to be fightened then. She is protecting herself and Ronald….doesn’t really care about her brother! Guess what Tommy…..she’s divorcing you anyway……..

In the longer, uneditted version of the tape, TC says ” He tried to kill all of us! That mf’er is crazy! ” That’s a curious statement. “Tried to kill ALL of us” ?! Who is the “all” in this statement? If it were 2 people, you’d use the word “both” not “all”, so I’m assuming TC means more than 2 people here. Let’s say he’s referring to himself, Misty, Haleigh and RJ. How exactly does Joe (alone) try to kill “all” of them? Brandishing a gun? Unless a shot is fired, saying he “tried to kill all of us” just doesn’t fit. A knife? No blood found in trailer (that I know of). What we do have, however, is a van that shows up with a cracked headlight and a long scratch on the side.
Kinda makes you go “hmmmmmmm” .

My last post aside, I’m just not buying the “cousin Joe did it” story. I don’t get a quilty vibe from Overstreet at all (Tommy is the only one who sent my meter through the roof from the begining), but my personal impressions not withstanding, the whole scenario TC and MC laid out just doesn’t make sense. If you go to steal a gun and become enraged when it isn’t there, you don’t kill a kid in retaliation. Let’s say JO became furious and killed Haleigh accidentally…how on earth does he coerce both Misty and Tommy to lie and cover up his deed? Misty claims JO held a knife to her throat…Tommy claims he was forced to the river with the body at gunpoint…neither says anything for a whole year because they are terrified of what JO might do?! Small wonder because according to TC and MC, cousin Joe is some kind of gun-toting, knife-weilding , uber-ninja.

This whole family lies! It seems to be second nature to them. I had had hope that Haleigh could be found and someone successfully made to face a jury of twelve. Sounds like bullsh%t to me. I think they are covering for Ronald. Why are they all safe now? Cousin Joe is still on the loose, and Tommy is locked up. That means nobody is there to protect Linsey and the kids. So either Tommy only cares about himself, and not his kids and wife. Or hes a freaking liar. This family is certifiably nuts. I still stand with my original contention that something happened with Haleigh that night that either she overdosed or Misty did something to keep her quiet. She called Tommy who helped dispose of the body. Whether Cousin Joe was with him is up for debate.
But Tommy is trying to throw off his own involvement by soft peddling his involvement by implicating Joe. Misty’s story is another indication of distancing herself from the whole affair by either claiming to be asleep, drugged out, or so fearful of her life that she hid under the covers.
Either way, the truth rests between brother and sister and they each know what happened to Haleigh. Why we have yet to hear the whole story is puzzling.

I don’t so much think that Tommy’s jailhouse tape to GMA was saying that Joe actually did it. I think Tommy want’s to protect Misty in some way, his wife, kids, etc., and is throwing the blame on Ole Cuzn Joe because of Ronald. I think that what Tommy generally says on the tape is sincere, however, just think he is throwing the wrong player in there. I think Ronald did something to the child accidentally, I think Ronald is the real threat to Tommy, Misty, Lindsey and the whole kit n kaboodle. I think Misty still idolizes and loves Ronald, and wants to protect him, loves her brother, and Joe, well he is the castaway. When Tommy says he doesn’t want his family hurt, I think he is telling the truth. I just don’t think he is telling the truth about who actually killed Haleigh. When Misty says on her jailhouse tape that “it is going to hurt two people”. I think here, she was referring to Joe and Tommy. Remember, “It is gonna hurt one person we really care about, and one, not so much” Well, she doesn’t want to lose Ronald or Tommy, and well, like I said, Joe becomes the fall guy. I heard somewhere along the line that Joe cried at some point. Can’t remember where I heard this. I think maybe Joe had to help dispose of the body, and cannot totally be let off the hook, as I do believe he has had some involvement in this. Why would he cry? Maybe the trauma of burying a little girl? Maybe he is scared of Ron too? Anyhoo, those are my thoughts. You need your own show Art! Thank you for keeping us up to date.

Ok Art..here goes. I don’t want or expect this to get past mod,this is for you only. I tried saying this a long time ago. I feel it is CRUCIAL LE get their hands on Joe’s computer unless they already have. I think they will find things that might help explain what Tommy is saying. You never know what’s in pics, e-mails or IM’s. I just think it would be useful to their investigation. I would ask you Art, to please talk to Flora and ask her about Joe’s friends. Specifically if he is in a gang.If Tommy is telling the truth, i would bet he’s afraid of not just Joe, but the people in the pics on Joe’s PC. If Joe really did kill Haleigh and Joe has threatened the Croslins, especially after seeing Joe’s friends i can see why he would be very scared for his family. There’s no excuse for not calling for help for Haleigh and telling the truth right away, don’t get me wrong. I clicked on a pic of one of his friends and all the pics came up, but had a pw the next day. You have the connections Art, i hope you run this idea by LE. Isn’t there a missing gun? Maybe they can get a warrant to “look at Joe’s pics on his PC” in searching for the gun? There’s plenty to choose from. Whatever works. Listing to the tape, it seems that Tommy said that he did it, and Grandma said Joe? I believe if she had said Ron he would have said the same thing.
It just seems to me that he is worried about loosing his wife and kids. If he was so afraid of Joe, why doesn’t he tell the police so they can protect them?

Here’s the issue I have with Tommy’s claim that he feared Joe would hurt is family: once Joe returned to Tennessee, Misty and Tommy could have reported their tale about Joe to LE, helped LE find Haleigh’s body and use it to corroborate their story, along with the cinder blocks and rope. Moreover, the two could have taken polys and passed them to attest to their truthfulness. Misty & Tommy would not have had to purportedly fear for the safety of their loves ones, as Joe would have swiftly been arrested.
I suspect it is Ron who Tommy and Misty feared. It also makes more sense that Ron is the ‘he’ who ‘can no longer hurt anyone now’, as he is sitting in jail like they are.

If Ron is involved, we won’t know until he is sentenced on his drug case, then & only then, Misty and Tommy will sing.
If they have phone records, that have not been released that should establish some kind of time line to confirm lies or truths on that dreadful night.

Joe was in florida staying with Chelsea and Timmy. He said (Joe) was with another person (girl) Who was she? Has she been ? by authorities. So you have Chelsea, Timmy, Joe, and unknown person that was with Joe! Why did chelsea get a tattoo of angel thats odd also she told them to check the river. Seams to me that all involved at CC,TC and JO they sure do know alot about different things in the case! Misty is lieing for someone but WHO???? Will Chelsea take a test to see if her hubby was really at home. In fact how about all the guys involved!! This is a really a crazy case. I’m glad you never gave up on Haliegh she deserves JUSTICE!!

I think Tommy’s voice was cracking in the video because he knows he is losing Lindsey, and not because he is afraid for his kids, or coming clean..Tommy and Misty have had plenty of time to be scared of wimpy little Joe.. If Misty thought Joe did it, would she be hanging Haleigh posters with him the next morning???? It’s all coming back to bite them in the booty…They all have evaded the truth for so long they think the lies will carry them through..Lindsey can’t stand the Croslin’s, (she refused the 200.00 Hank and Lisa offered her) so maybe after the divorce she will tell what happened, but I’m not betting the ranch….

IMO the whole story is BS. Lindsy filing for divorce means nothing. If you look close at the pics from court, Lindsy is there. She enjoys the gifts she gets from her “special friend” & her filing sounds like an attempt to gain the public’s sympathy & save her own ass regarding what she knows. That phone call from Tommy to Flo sounds about as real as Misty’s 911 call. Where did he break down because he couldn’t hold it in? He didn’t name anyone, Flo did. They were laughing because his parent’s were talking suicide. WTH? How did Hank manage to go to go to jail & not be sent to ER for evaluation? Isn’t he on probation?
And Tommy’s attorney supports this? Where does his calculator come up with the three yr. sentence? If Tommy has been so helpful, the case would be solved by now.IDK why Tommy’s attorney thinks this tape shows him sharing details because he says nothing. He agrees to what his grandma says. He’s the one who put his kids in danger, not Joe. If that were true, why did they go fishing together? Why were Tommy & Joe going out together to steal a gun? They didn’t find it, but yet Joe had one w/him?
IMO if Mr. Werter wants to prove Flo unreliable, he needs to produce a little more than another “Joe did it” phone call. The entire family is unreliable, that wasn’t hard to prove. Produce the truth, some facts & maybe someone will listen. The Croslin’s have used up the free passes. If Flo called a false tip in to CrimeStoppers & LE, she needs to join the family behind bars.

Anyway, boy this is one super slow moving case I must say. It seems on a lot of blogs people are getting really really antsy and tired of all the b.s. from Tommy, Misty and Ron of course.
Ron’s lawyer says he may do a plea deal…hmmm, I will be watching for that. I still think he is SO darn GUILTY. I believe he had a major part in this disappearance of his beloved daughter. Accidental overdose, or maybe she died on her own for some reason…don’t know..but with all the lies…it’s just become totally sickening.
I for one will be sooooo glad if/when they figure this out once and FOR ALL !! Shame on all these people for wasting so much of the LE’s time and taxpayer money…for not revealing the TRUTH!!!

Once a Manipulator always a Manipulator! Drug bust tapes show Misty sitting up front, but not running the drug deals. Ronald is smart enough to play it safe by sitting in the back seat, and cautiously giving out the orders. His attorney states that “RC is ready to plea against Misty and Tommy regarding the drug deals,” while on the otherside the attorney states, “LE has a clear cut case it’s all recorded.”
Mr. Fields wake-up your client has nothing to plea, he cannot manipulate his way through this one.
On the otherside Misty and Tommy have something to plea, but are they willing to disclose who they really fear, and no it’s not cousin Joe. The tape is pretty clear when Grandma H is saying to Tommy what she heard about RC and Tommy becomes quite defensive and like don’t even go there, his response is completely different when Grandma H. brings up cousin Joe (it sounds like a rehersal yep! That’s what were suppose to say and were all safe.)
I really hope LE is able to see how much of a manipulator RC really is, and LE should not agree to a plea from him, as he has nothing to add regarding the drug deals. Ronald is covering for Ronald no one else. Oh please, Ronald married Misty because that’s what Haleigh wanted; next he married Misty to keep the enemy close; divorced her because LE told him to do so; got involved with Misty drugs and drug dealings to get Misty to maybe tell him something about Haleigh. If gramma thinks Joe is so dangerous then why did she go on national tv and repeat the phone conversation after she was asked not to…hmmmmmm. Not very trusting nor is she very protective. As for Misty, I remember her saying Joe took Haleigh when she first disappeared and then changed her story many times. The truth is going to come out, one way or another. I can understand fearing for the wellbeing of a child but something isn’t right with this story. I do believe they were threatened…but by whom???

A pre-trial hearing on felony prescription drug charges was postponed yesterday [ May 13th]. A plea deal is being negotiated for Ronald Cummings to plead to lesser charges.
He’ll get less than three and time served will be included.
He is the one who has threatened, intimidated, and exploded with this terrible temper. I think everyone he knows is afraid of him. And well they should be.

Art, great to see you again last night on JVM. I have thought all along that Tommy had something to do with this child disappearing. Right from the start he “placed” himself at the scene of the crime. He repeatedly tells family members on the jail house tapes that “he didn’t have anything to do with that”, concerning Haleigh. Now after all this time we are suppose to believe “he knows something” but wasn’t involved; then, “he was lying” when he stated he knocked on the trailer door at 10pm and “no one was there”….the lies go on and on. I say if we give him enough rope, he’ll eventually hang himself. I’m glad Lindsay is filing for divorce.Hopefully she can get help for herself and the children before this vicious cycle repeats itself.

Here is my humble opinion. Haleigh was accidently killed before Ron went to work. Tc and Mc , along with Joe, helped bury the body. They know they would all be charged with this and go away a long time. Ron is the one they fear. He keeps saying “i will kill them”. And he means it, and they know it. Before they got arrested, I believe they all made a pact to put it on Joe if they got forced into it. Your key player here? Ronald! IMO And his mom knows something, I can just bet on it. They need to make the whole bunch take lie detector tests, including Ron’s MOM!

Hi Art:-) Last night on JVM it was said that Misty called her family before Ronald got home and before she called 911. Did she mention that Haleigh was missing when she talked to her mom? And how did she sound on the phone?
I feel bad for Lyndsay, sticking behind Tommy and believing in him all this time. It would be like a knife stuck to her chest, now knowing that Tommy knew what happened. He has nothing left in his life but his freedom. He might as well come clean. If he doesnt get convicted of being involved with Haleigh, what will he be charged with (besides the drugs)? And how will this all have an affect on him ever seeing his kids again? What I dont understand is how he left the house that night without Lyndsay knowing he was gone?
Grandma Flora said that she broke Tommy down. But on the phone recording she doesnt seem to pressure him at all to tell what happened. And from what I have been reading, she wants part of that reward and that is not right.
I would really like to hear Mistys phone call to grandma Flora. I am not buying that this is all Joe Overstreets fault. They could not have been that scared of him. And if he malusted Misty, then why on earth would Misty want him around her or Haleigh for that matter. If she loved Haleigh like she said she did, then you would do everything in your power to keep that kid safe. And not let what supposedly happened to her happen to Haleigh. To me they are not afraid of cousin joe, that is just something that is being plotted on.

Hi Art, This tape,even edited, made me cry. I just wish they would find that sweet baby and lay her to REST, and the rest of the lot to ROT! I believe TC is telling the truth as he knows it, and WANTS to tell the truth. I don’t believe he wasn’t involved, so that part is “cleaned up” in this call. You can be scared of a weenie tot sized man, but …you just never know. He (JO) threw out the crocodile tears, just like Misty did. If they were raised with abuse, and I believe they were, they COULD BE afraid of lil Joe. That is the most dysfunctional family I have ever had the displeasure of witnessing, and thank God it is from afar! HaLeigh deserves a resting place, NOT a watery grave! I had a nightmare last night that my grandson drowned and that is the worst nightmare I have EVER had!(I probably will NEVER share that with anyone other than you and your readers, as it is anonymus) I cannot even begin to imagine what the parents, grandparents..etc. are going through. And Crystal Sheffield may have lost custody to RC, but she is still that baby’s MOTHER, and I believe she LOVES her with all of her heart. IT makes me upset that everyone, including the great NG, talks to her and of her, like she is “beneath” them. If the judge had not given RC custody, that baby, I am positive, would still be safe in her mama’s arms. The judge made a mistake, isn’t that apparent by now? The Croslin clan ought to all share Lisa’s Xanax and all go to sleep…(they all share the rest of their dope) I don’t believe RC was involved, don’t want to believe it, the worst he did, IMO, was leave his precious babies in the care of that lil skank that night and I can see him calling 90 plus times, or every 5 minutes from work trying to get an answer, because he knew that they were fighting and that she had just been on her lil hiatus for 3 days. The part I don’t understand about RC, is that he so casually stopped for a beer and peanuts on the way home that night, he should have been tripping over himself to race home! He probably thought she was just playing little girl games, as she is or WAS, a lil girl, and turned her phone off to avoid his calls, and piss him off, or make him worry.. But… he probably had NO IDEA what was awaiting him @ home! I thank you for letting us express our own opinions, and sharing on here, and you DO so need your own show, cause the only “BOMBSHELL’S” we get are straight from you, sir. Tell HLN, or get one of us (I volunteer) to get a petition started for you to host a show. We could do without Joy, though she is funny at times.. just like we did without Glen…That man got on my last nerve, but it was before I had TIVO, and I would have to watch him or miss NG, and I’d rather mute his big mouth and not miss NG. Everything seems to be pointing back to Ronald. Tommy says it very clear when he states… “All I know is he’s got to pay; he can’t get to none of us so it don’t matter,” It’s obvious he’s referring to Ronald.
I’ve always believed Ronald lost control and accidentally killed Haleigh. The day it happened was the day his girlfriend just got home after her party week-end. I don’t think it was a nice happy day at their house. Haleigh was the unfortunate victim to his anger. His actions that night are all part of his idea to cover it up. That’s why he made all the calls. Which if I made that many calls with no answer, I would have left work to check on my kids. Or call my mom to check on them. Why would you call Misty’s brother. He probably blamed Misty for his anger that killed his daughter. Thats why she won’t say anything and she has seen what he can do. He married her to make sure she keeps quiet. After the divorce he stays close to her to be sure she doesn’t say anything. It all points to him. It just doesn’t make sense to say someone went to steal a gun and took a child instead. That makes no sense at all. Somehow they have got to get Misty to crack. She is very afraid of Ronald.

Will see you on NG tonight. Misty and Tommy both apparently failed polys on the cousin Joe story! To me that says it is not cousin Joe. Tommy feels whoever it is cannot get to his family nor himself even though he is afraid he is comung forward to give Haleigh Justice. I just wish they would have done this along time ago. LE could have protected them then. I know they do not trust anyone from what I can see.
Steve Brown ex- FBI was not called in to see Tommy until after Tommy was ready to talk. Tommy had already failed the poly, before he spoke to Steve Brown the ex-FBI agent. Tommy took Steve Brown and detectives down to Shell Harbour on the 12th which was a Monday and the search began the next day.

Tommy says in his jail house tapes to his FAther and to Lindsey. I will not LIE and repeat Mistys story. I could get of jail right now with her story. But I will not involve this guy (joe) I don’t know if he had anything to do with it. Misty is crazy making up these stories. She is protecting Ron. He tells Lindsey Ron told us the story remenber? She says something like I bet he is kicking himself in the arrs now that he told us.
These are not direct quotes but a summary of the conversations that where recorded prior to the GRanny H come to Jesus moment by Tommy. He was lying for over a year and has not stopped.
Who put the rat in Tommys mail box? Misty and Ron. Who beat up Tommy and a Police report was made and Ron went o jail over noc. Misty bailed him out. Who is Tommy afraid of? Perhaps he has kept quiet cause Ron is his dealer and an addicts will do anything to protect his drug source.

If Tommy has ‘no involvement’ as his atty claims, how is it he claims to know everything that happened? Can’t have it both ways Tommy…unless we look at his claims as hearsay.
If Joe is so innocent – and has absolutely nothing to do with it – why not take a polygraph? (maybe someone in this family finally figured out they can actually tell when your lying)
I have to doubt the covering up for Ronald theory. He was at work. Also – they would throw an innocent cousin under the bus – but not Ronald? These people may not be too bright – but they have a great sense of self-preservation, no matter who they have to hurt.

Art you report that Tommy and Lindsay’s oldest son, Austin, rode home on the bus the day Haleigh disappeared but that is not how Lindsay reported it. She said Ron was driving the car and Haleigh leaning against the car, waved at them as she was getting into the car, she blew them a kiss. I think he usually rode the bus home with her but I seem to remember that day Ron had picked her up.

I totally agree with other comments about Tommy silently implying fear of Ronald. Joe is still out, how are they totally safe from him now? in the beginning Tommy answers the question about Misty’s story being the one, and he says “yah, but it’s not-” and then stops/is cut off. what’s up with that??? unless, he’s no longer afraid to tell the truth about Joe and their involvement because RC is locked up and can’t retaliate? that could be it.

Art, Yes, you were great on JVM, however, it is frustrating to all of us who know you to be the most articulate and familiar with the case, but, are allowed to speak for the least amount of time. This is really an intriguing case with the circular firing squad growing every day. I love your editorial embellishments such as “Satsuma’s Napoleonic little psycho” when referring to Joe and the “gang who couldn’t deal straight”. It appears that all of the Croslin and Cummings families are not without some knowledge or involvement, either directly or indirectly, not to mention the trusty circle of friends. I hope you don’t grow tired of the endless coverage of this case. You are the absolute best source of information and breaking news.

Great job covering this story! They are all liars. At least they will get put in jail for a long time for the drug charges. The only way I can see Joe killing Haleigh is if he fronted drugs to Ron, Misty, and/or Tommy…instead of selling them for money, they used the drugs. He came by to collect and there was no money, so he took Haleigh as ransom. Obviously, Tommy is guilty b/c why on earth would his wife be abandoning him if he wasn’t? I also think Ron is telling more than what he is saying he knows. Why would he want to be locked up away from his son? That’s why he married Misty, to keep her close. She knows exactly what happened, as does Ron and Tommy. Joe is still a big ? mark. RIP Haleigh, hopefully there will be justice soon.

“I Love You” to his wife (Lindsay), who said she had not seen him since he was arrested Jan. 20th.
Lindsay was sitting with Croslin’s mother and father, felt the outcome of his case would be positive in that he will get less than the minimum.
“I am just here to support my children’s father” she said.

Art, what do you make of Tommy’s words “he tried to kill us all”? If Tommy wasn’t there how does that make sense? Who exactly is “us all”? The bigger question would be why would he want to kill anyone? If any of that is true, it has to come back to something between Joe and Ronald. Family members can have disputes but it sure doesn’t motivate one to want to kill them all. Don’t you think based on their accounts and admissions, that LE has enough to charge Misty and Tommy with lesser charges for now, like misleading an investigation or something along those lines? It’s not the murder charges so they can be charged with those down the road. Any thoughts on that?

Enough is enough already in this case. If they are going to continue to change the story of what happened, one of them needs to tell the truth and be able to verify by passing a LDT. They always say the “who” but not the “why”. It doesn’t make sense that they say Joe did it, Joe threatened us, but not why he did it or why he threatened them. I’d like to know why Flora Hollars sounds so sure Joe did something to Haleigh. It can’t be just the way he acted when he got home from Florida, there has to be more than that. IMO.

I agree with the majority of the comments, that you cannot believe anything that comes out of the “Croslins”. They didn’t seem too afraid to go out and peddle drugs, nor were they afraid to continue to get high, break into houses, road rage, etc. I’m sorry; but logically things don’t add up.
There is no way, I could stay silent over the killing of a helpless child (over a gun). No one seemed too guilt ridden for over a year until Hope Sykes got 15 years. Tommy and Misty are looking for a get-out-of-jail free card and now Ron is negotiating as well. I never seen so much narcisstic, sociopathic behavior displayed (that’s the common denominator with this bunch).

I am amazed that with the amount of drugs these people do that someone has not spilled the truth in a drug induced state to at least 1 person out there. There has to be at least 1 person other than the “key people” out there that has heard one of the mouthing off and maybe they just blew it off as a stoner talking crap. I pray daily that person will step forward and put an end to all of the lies and deception and let justice be served swiftly to these creeps. Art, After lisitening to rhis tape you have posted, I think what happened is that- The night the child went missing there was a big blow up at the trailer maybe over the gun, maybe over drugs who knows…
Joe went crazy, Tommy states in the tape “He tried to kill all of us” seeming to refer to Joe…
Haliegh may have been awaken by all the noise and walked in where it all was happening and was hit with something are by someone and died.
Then the cover up started…That is why he lied about going over after Rons call to him to check on Misty, Thats why Misty wouldn’t answer Rons calls…They were all covering up the crime at this point..It all makes sence..One of these people snapped and as Tommy says in the tape “it should have been told along time ago” I hope this case can be solved…..

Since the phone call says you are being tape – theres no way Tommy didn’t know he was being tape . They are trying to set up kissing cousin, I think this has been their plan from day one. Misty. Ron, and Tommy knows where that little girl is. It seem odd that the one sisterinlaw said on TV that their was pills all over the house that the kids were in. Looks like they will keep all secerts from the law to its looks like cops know something then they come up with pill story around the house. Maybe if she reported that Haleigh would be alive. Say what you want about grandma Hollars this tape shows tommy told her stuff. there maybe more tape of him and of misty and maybe a wire tap on some of these people phones. love grandma on jane hope she goes on again. i think grandma said to much truth and the family but a stop to it.

I find it very odd that Tommy and Misty decided to tell the same story, at the same time, to the same person. I think the grandmother means well, but is misled. I also think the entire case could be solved today, or at least by tomorrow if the police and FBI would round up all the cousins, brothers, sisters, boyfriends, girlfriends, exhusbands, exwives, parents, grandparents, and the rest of the motley crew, put them all in the same room with a few good and well-armed bouncers and let them start accusing each other face to face. Lindsy has put the divorce on HOLD per Tommys Lawyer. I think its time DCFS removes these children from her to keep them safe. It is obivious she has no concern for their well being and is involved with her husband in this mess. What new alibi will she come up with for him? She already threw away Tommys and Timmys boots. Then she had a clean house and wonderful dinner cooked for her at 10pm the noc this child went missing. Afterwhich she went to sleep with tommy in his boxer shorts. How is Linsy involved in this? Where is DCFS?

No you are quoting what Chelsea told me about seeing Haleigh get into Ron’s burgundy or purple Altima, which is contradicted by several other accounts, including Ron’s, who said he drove Haleigh home on his lap, and let her drive, and others at the bus stop who insist Misty drove the van home with Haleigh and jr…THE BUS STOP IS A KEY TO WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH HERE, and whoever is covering up at the bus stop may be covering up the killing…Austin did ride home with Haleigh, Lindsay told me long ago and we’ve had long talks about them playing later that day…I saw Austin and he’s a cute little boy, doe eyed and shy…Haleigh used to c hase him around the yard and try to kiss him. Great comments, and thank you for reminding me of the unedited tape–that Werter trimmed. As you point out and he did not disclose, he did cut out Lindsay’s phone number, but also the discussion of Hank and Lisa’s pill popping, and Hank’s suicide attempt and, I believe, striking of an officer? Not sure about the last, but he did spend a night or two under wraps, and there was talk of Lisa and xanex. Source in family once told me that’s why they were trashing her publically as in raising suspicions long ago–she wouldn’t share her xanex…

Art, I have heard that Ron went to work early that day for the first time EVER and also stayed late for overtime. Since Grandma Sykes only confirms that she didn’t see him-not that he was necessarily at work-do we know what hours he was visually seen at work? Not the timecard info but actually seen?

At this point I don’t think we can believe the words of anyone involved in this.
One thing that really got to me about the phone call between Tommy and Ms. Hollars (aside from the big smiles!?) is that rather than let Tommy tell her what he wanted to say, she cut in and said “Joe.” I wish she would’ve kept her mouth shut and let him finish rather than lead the conversation, whether she “knowed” what he was going to say or not!
I also don’t like that fact that Joe Overstreet hasn’t taken a lie detector test. I think all three of them (Misty, Tommy and Joe) are involved in one way or another.
It makes me sick that they won’t just come clean and give Haleigh’s loved ones some closure. Hiding the truth has to be more miserable than just ‘fessing up and taking their punishment.

Art as much as I respect and like what you do I have to say Iam a bit disappointed that you take Tommy Crosslin’s attorney’s word for anything he says.
His attorney Werter is using you to get his stories circulated and so is the Former FBI Agent to gain publicity.
I do not believe this case will be broken until at least onre of the players passes an indepth polygraph that can be corraberated.
Do you have your own Investigator on staff to help you? If not maybe you should to help you because it seems that people like Casey Anthony, George and Cindy, Crystal Sheffield and all the other low lifes can afford a Private Investigator and none of them are employed.
Tommy and Misty are both telling lies and Tommy’s attorney and the FBI Agent are trying to get media exposure so they can write books etc.
I though Tommy’s attorney was no longer going to represent him in the Haliegh case. Suprise Suprise.
What ever happened to that low life P.I. Cobra last I heard he was in jail. Leonard Padilla is a joke and a cartoon looking for a payday.

How can Ronald testify against misty and Tommy bringing his charges down. He was with Misty in the drug tapes. To me he looked like he was in control.Looking back in one of the tapes Ronald and Misty by the trailer, he looks skinny as a rail, sure has put on the pounds.JMO but I think everyone is scared of Ronald.If Ronald thought it was cousin Joe he had a year to get to him..Why was he aloud to have guns in the house.Not to mention Misty was 15-16 when he met her.I still think Ronald has the lock, Misty holds the key.

From day 1, I have been posting I thought Ron did it, hurt haleigh and had Misty get rid of the body, (so now he could tell her she was also involved,) well I believe the story granny hallars aid she heard about Haleigh Oding on pills she found, BEFORE RON WENT TO WORK and Ron had Misty take care of the body and clean the house, and that is why he called 90 times, (to make sure that everything was going as planned) and that is why he put a rat in TOMMYS MAILBOX, to let him know if you talk this will be your child or you. They are not scared of JOE, all the way down in TENNESSEE, they are scared of RON, and only RON..Tommy didnt tell his grandma it was JOE, she guessed it, and he went along with it, I believe it is RON, he is the one who is locked up, and cannot get to the FAMILY at this time..I believe MISTY will eventually crack.

1. How can the tape being shown of Tommy calling his Grandma from jail exsist? Does the jail uually tape and send out their outgoing phone calls? I thought the videos they have been showing are of just the jail calls via visits and not outside phone calls.
2. How can it be that Joe left FL. in the early morning hours when he was in fact there, hanging up posters w/Misty? Seems he didn’t leave as early as some people claim he did. I am not defending him, but how could he have left so early and still be in FL. later that same morning? Last time I looked, TN. isn’t that close to FL.

It was almost a LOL (TC)! Ronald Cummings smiling with his lawyer! Misty laughs! What is funny, I wonder. Could it be if TC’s Grandma had said “Ronald Cummings” he would have laughed and said yes? It is my opinion that the scare tactic is the demise of Cummings. Cummings might wish that he hadn’t said anything negative about Misty because in the end Misty is going to spill the truth, for sure. Cummings won’t be grinning when that happens. Misty isn’t going to be happy when Cummings’ gets his “usual” get out of jail free card in Putnam County. Right now, the focus is on drugs. Videos show they are guilty!!!!!!! In the end or before, the truth is near; I believe it will come from Misty Croslin. Soon all of us will know what happened to our dear baby, Haleigh. I think we have to remenber that Misty quit school when she was in sixth or eigth grade. Hank Sr. Says he can’t read and Misty can’t either? We know she can’t spell from her letter and signature are barely readable. This girl is a street smart addict who will follow the flow of advice from other sreet smart people. I think she is easily controlled by others. Did Misty send the letter to Chelsea in Feb?
I don’t think Misty realy thinks that she can be accused of anything that will keep her in prison. She is only 18 and she is looking to go to boot camp. When Rons Lawyer said Ron was disappointed and she was forced. I think Misty knew what story she needed to go with. Tommy came on board with the story after Misty started to involve him with rape. Misty was and is Rons mule. Tommy goes from rape to being seen at the back door briefly then he was gone. Misty took him out of the rape scene.

I have a question…if the night that Misty was all strung out on drugs from party and Ron ‘demanded’ she watch the children and when he called, several times, there was no answer…WHY didn’t he go to his boss and explain that he needed to go home because of an emergency?!? I have been thinking about the jail tape of Tommy and G’Ma Hollars.. She says “it was Joe, wasn’t it”? Never does Tommy say it was Joe..Hollars has a feud going with Joe and his Mother, it’s obvious to me, and it probably goes way back..When she mentioned Ron, Tommy said “BS”..It’s an easy out for changing the subject, IMO..For Tommy to say the one responsible can’t get to my kids so no worry, is ludicrous..Joe can get to his kids, if he wanted to..BTW, I hope Joe sues those who are accusing him, if he isn’t involved..So far it doesn’t look like he is..He is the scape goat IMO I hope we will hear Misty’s call to Hollars claiming Joe did it..Sometimes it isn’t what one says so much, as how they say it..Will G’Ma put words in her mouth as she did Tommy’s? Probably…Lindsay’s withdrawal, or “on hold” divorce is interesting..I’m wondering if it’s because she truly loves him, or if there is a more nefarious reason.. Since ToC was talking to Hollars on the phone and not a video visitation I took it that the clips of him grinning were from a prior visit with his wife and perhaps his son.
I think his attorney should have raised cane with NG for allowing that. If you noticed, his mouth was not in sync with the words at all.

Well Tommy has admitted to being force to carry dead body, driving car, actually disposing of a body. If some has a gun pointed at you there not going to be able to maintain control of the gun and drive the car, carry the body or throw it into the river.
Now, could one person wrap the body with yellow rope tie it to a Brick and throw it into the river with out help? Would you need two people for that.?
Read recently where a man only got three years for disposing of a body when not being involved with the crime.
I now believe that Tommy helped disposed of the body.

Tommy is no stranger to stealing guns. Recently stole a gun from a blind neighbor, but the gun was returned.
Lindsey my advice to you is scoop up your children and find safety for them away from this madness. They deserve better and so do you.

Also heard a lot of yelling on Lindsey part, I wish they would have posted what they could make out of her conversation. I think Lindsey probably has lied about where Tommy was during the night. I sure that he was not in the bed with her as stated! I think you have to take anything these two family members say with a BOAT LOAD of SALT!

Art…YES to # 86. I started a post about how Tommy was *sobbing* then smiling like a madman, it looked like he was thinking “she believes me..haha”. I just wasn’t sure if this was the video tape that went with the conversation because we have seen some where the tapes don’t match the conversations. Didn’t want to feel foolish if i was wrong. It is unbelievable he could be so guilt ridden he had to tell someone right away and then smiling like he’s having fun! Gramma Flora should see it if she hasn’t. This guy is off his rocker.They are losing it Art, he remembers the call is recorded but apparently forgot about the one taping his face! They lost me at the part when Tommy asks if Misty called ( psychic?) and she says no, then i think it was Lisa, reminds her. What?? Misty tells this casebreaking account of what happened and she forgot?Then when Flora said “Joe” before Tommy did and Tommy says Yep. Not buying the whole thing. I think Tommy is having fun with all this. So glad he can amuse himself so well, he better get use to it, those other charges await him. Please get the tape of him smiling for this site so we can view it at a slower pace than is shown on tv.

This is all about drugs and guns,i agree Art. That’s why it’s hard to rule anyone out completely.Some loved guns, some loved drugs and most loved both. Tommy’s kids are better off without him around (imo), they are going to suffer from this for years to come. Sheesh..i’m going to have to listen to the tape again. Couldn’t tell who was doing all the wailing in the background. I thought it was whoever Flora had call Lyndsay. Someone said it was Lisa. Her face, in court the same time as Ronald, had the appearance of extreme anger when she tried to look at Ronald!! 2.Then Thersa said she Picked kids up from the bus stop.

Art ..Ron said on an interview the beds in MH where made. Meaning not slept in? So if Joe was in the bedroom and raving and Tom found a dead Haliegh in that bedroom. Where was that bedroom with the beds unmade and people sleeping in them.
Misty says she was in bed under the covers with JR. Ron says the beds where made that noc to indicate no one slept in the beds.
In there vigorious attempt to clean up the MH did they make the beds by mistake so the Police would see how clean they where. Or did they make the beds as soon as they got out of them even though they where washing linen. Don’t think so. Was Haliegh really in the Master bedroom on the floor? Ron Princess on the Floor? Do you really think JR slept with Ron and Misty in the same bed?
In the 911 call Misty says she cleaning did she have to much help.? So is 10 oclock an important time cause thats where Misty says she goes to bed and covers Haliegh with a sheet. Between 8 and 10 is when Haliegh is cover with a sheet. People are covered with a sheet when they are dead.

So if the beds where made where was JR sleeping when the Police arrived? When Ron got home home just Misty was at the door. Where was JR? Was he sleeping with all that noise? I didn’t see the NG clip with the grinning, so I have no idea what the deal is there, but I do recall Tommy’s goofy grin when a reporter told him (WAY back when) that Misty said she suspected him. He laughed and said she was crazy. I thought…what a weird reaction! If MY sister accused me of something so horrific, I sure wouldn’t find anything funny about that. Seeing that almost left me feeling that he didn’t even associate a precious little girl at the heart of all this. Like there was just some kind of strange disconnect.

When the police called everyone togther to tell them haleigh is probley dead; THE MOTHER CRYSTAL SAID- JOE KILLED MY BABY. ok . she said that comming out of the police station. Ron didnt kill his child. Joe is the killer. Misty and joe did something to haleigh and they probley asked tommy to help them get rid of the body . I believe that all four are involved, Ronald, Misty, Tommy, and Joe. I think that Ronald either was there when something happened to his little girl and he knows after the fact. Ronald is the one that the other three are scared of. Give them all a polygraph again. The truth needs to come out and justice for Haleigh.

Thank you for all your great work. I wish both NG and JVM would talk less and learn more from the people on their shows that do know (and care) about this case. You have so much to offer, but don’t get the chance. IMO
Anyway, question. Do you think perhaps the recent arrest of Josh Imms (Sheriff Hardy’s son) and others, who live only three and a half miles from the Cummings rented trailer, might be involved with Haleigh going missing?
Why is Ronald Cummings not treated as the criminal he obviously is from his long arrest record? Who is he that he is able to circumvent the law at every twist and turn?
Even this drug case – he has three charges – and he gets a plea to testify against others with only one? What gives?
Is there some entanglement with LE that is so protected that Ronald Cummings simply gets a slap on the wrist and is allowed to continue to commit crimes? Could you talk and cause lots of trouble for the Sheriff’s Dept. – which Hardy won because his platform was to ‘clean it up’ and the first day or week he fired or demoted eight or ten in the Dept., including the head detective – replacing him with someone in an administration position in the Patrol Division – who was the one in charge a couple of weeks later when Haleigh went missing?
Does Ronald Cummings actually know too much and would be able to convict some VIPs so he is handled with kid gloves?
Nothing makes much sense in this case – starting with what did happen to Haleigh after she got off the school bus that February 9, 2009.

Yeah…it is very odd…that at the end of the Tommy-Jail video it shows him grinning a lot…this makes no sense at all and does NOT go along with the audio with him talking with his grandmother – Ms. Hollars.
Something is not right here! I think the JAIL staff – or whoever in charge of the videos…did a cut and paste and put his grinning at the end.
That’s is terrible if it’s not what he really was doing. HE was supposedly upset and agreeing with the Grandmother telling him…”it’s JO- is that what you’re saying?” No way would he be laughing at the end of that.

PLEASE find out this information…I watched NG tonight at 10pm Pacific time…and once again it shows him grinning at the end of the video! Either it’s the jail staff or could it possibly be someon on the Nancy GRace staff…doing that? Cutting and pasting from a previous video?

IMO…Junior said he heard the couch ‘bouncing’…what if Haleigh either took a pill by accident because it was laying around or it was given to her to help her sleep because Misty was not in the mood to watch her and she died from this. Misty found her dead, got scared and called Tommy. Tommy in turn called cousin Joe to go over there with him. They find Haleigh and put her on the couch and they try to do CPR… the couch would make the bouncing sound if they put her on the couch to do that and had to do stomach compressions. This puts a new twist on this story but something know on has said. Was it during this time that Ron tried to call so many times and the calls were not answered? It has not been said that I know of what Ron and Misty fought about over the phone that night around 8:30. Misty said she put the kids to bed around 8, if she was fighting on the phone with Ron around 8:30 I’m sure this could have woke them or one of them up. Misty probably was sooo mad with Ron from the fight on the phone and Haleigh woke up, Misty didn’t want to deal with her and gave her something to make her sleep. This is all IMO

Hi Art…
Could you timeline the events of these car accidents the HC Sr. family was getting into-Thanks! Seems like the timeline on some of them are running together w/the disappearance of Haleigh. Would seem very strange indeed if they all happened around the same time-like after MC called her mother-that would be before 911 was called-supposedly.
Also, do you think the recent drug arrests of Sheriff Hardy’s son and others in Satsuma was in some way connected to RC? They had to have known each other-you know, Birds of a Feather and then this deal is set in stone-for the time being. What could it be that RC could testify to against MC RE the drugs? There’s an UC right there to tell who, what, where and when. Thanks Art, for your great and helpful insights.

misty is involved
joe is the helper/scape goat
dont you all think from the time Haliegh came up missing
an they all went to jail that they didnt sit around and
think of this idea..to blame Joe for it all cause they
are loser’s and saving their own skin..I think
Haliegh ate pills that misty gave her cause
she wouldnt settle down to sleep and Ron said give her one
and she did..and died..and Misty called ron at say 10 or after to tell him and thats why ron called tommy to go help
out..so they got joe to help and they all took her to the st.johns river..and when Ron got home the stories
were made up asap..to cover their asses and now we are where we are at now..and the are not afraid of anyone
but Ron..Rons going to testifiy against them cause he is scared..of loose lips. and the story about joe was planed
so well before their drug bust..Rons so good at lieing too that he has the cops and everyone boohooing over him..
when he is the reason for her death in the first place..
now thats a manipulative person!

I think all of the stories Tommy and Misty are telling is nothing but lies. I believe LE doesn’t have a clue as to what really happened. I will go to my grave believing Ronald knows the entire truth. I think Misty and Tommy murdered this child and Ronald helped to cover it up. All of them are lying and this poor child will never be found. This case is going down the same path as Caylee Anthony. NO one will never know who, when, why or how this child died. The grandma in this case seemed to love the attention she was getting for a while, going on national TV at every turn and telling this “story” over and over but changing it each time the camera’s was on. The whole entire family, including Ronald’s family are just a bad episode of cops that just keeps replaying over and over. This is no family, if they can make a buck off of talking to tabloids or get a car or rent money, they blab. People do strange things for money but when it all stems from a little girl being murdered, all of them should be thrown in jail. Maybe they will dry out from all the drugs they are on. It is just disgusting to me that NO ONE has told the truth.

If there is any book deals or movie from this tragic lost, Can the profit from it go to the Missing Children Foundation instead to any of theses creeps. Or maybe back to the agency that came out to help find a this little Angel, I hope that these people DO NOT PROFIT from this

Hi Art. I for one would certanly pay a subscription fee!!! I too look for you. Why is Nancy Grace not reporting on the latest on the Croslin case? I see it on Jane Mitchell. Oh well, wherever you are, so am I. Aren’t you an ex-cop? If not you certainly have good instincts! And to all the people who ask “Why did Ronald marry Misty so soon”? Ron answered that on Nancy Grace, right after they married by saying “…you keep your friends close and your enemies closer.” Remember that one? May sound dysfunctional as all get out but then they ARE dysfunctional! But I feel so sorry for Ronald and his ex-wife losing little Haleigh. There are no words to express my sorrow for these people.
