While law enforcement maintains the physical evidence at the trailer where Misty Croslin reported 5 year old Haleigh Cummings missing contradicts what the the babysitter turned step-mama has been saying, Croslin tells her father she keeps wracking her brain, but there’s nothing she hasn’t revealed so far…
She does, however, reveal on taped prison phone calls and visits details of her alleged drug transactions that have the mousey 18 year old facing 8 felony counts of trafficking that could send her to prison for as long as 114 years, or at least until she’s “old and gray like you (her mother),” she told Lisa Croslin, who has yet to turn 40…
If it weren’t for Haleigh, she says she wouldn’t be where she is now, neck deep in Satsuma swamp trouble, caught by an undercover cop who asked her to find him some drugs.
It shouldn’t count, though, because she was ‘only helping out a friend,’ or so she thought, not really dealing.
Behind bars with a jail full of “deniers,” as I comment on Nancy Grace, that she “cannot accept the fact she was caught red-handed, on tape…” and now she’s behind bars, unwittingly confirming and confessing to drug transactions. Where was then 17 year old babysitter Misty Croslin when 5 year old Haleigh Cummings vanished? She could cut a far better deal if she’d just reveal what she does know, if she does know it.
But she’s not giving it up, so we decided to solicit your theories again about where was Misty?
1. At home, conked out from her three day party binge and sleeping like a log, unable to hear her brother, Tommy, bang on the trailer door, or an intruder who takes Haleigh while she is sleeping?
2. At a party, with Haleigh and Junior in tow?
3. At home with an invited, or uninvited guest?
4. At home with Haleigh who may have taken or been given a painkiller to keep her quiet while a party went on and it killed her accidentally?
5. Other?
As Misty Croslin says, “let people think what they want to think…they can kiss my ass…”

Hi Art, I only have a comment and then a question. Comment first,,the way all of the involved are acting, they have no clue a sweet helpless child is missing. It seems to be another case of the “All about Me’s.”
Now my question,,why does Nancy say these secretly recorded conversations? She knows, as well as any of us who have ever visited someone in jail or received a phonecall from someone in jail, it plainly tells you This is being recorded as do the signs all over the telephone area. Thanks Art for keeping us updated. Even though I do live in Florida, I promise our family tree has more than 1 branch.

Art,I wonder if Tommy knocked and knocked and when he recieved no answer..thought she was gone. He sticks his D.L. in the door,pops it and goes in to steal some things. Ends up stealing Haleigh,carries her out,lays her by the dumpster and goes gets the van. Remember the van turns back up scratched and Misty’s SIL ask her if she took it and scratched it up.
That van plays into Haleigh missing. Either Misty had it and was gone or Tommy had it.
What do u think?

Like I had said on my previous comment. Misty had no patience to deal with Angel Haleigh. Misty has a bad temper. After arguing w/Ron the night before and during that evening, I’m sure Lil Haleigh at her age was wanting attention and got on Misty’s last nerve. I tend to believe Misty punished her and lost control. After realizing Lil Haleigh was dead, she called either her so called friends or family members to help dispose of her body. It will be a cold day in you know where before she will ever confess to that.
Just wondering… Has any of Misty’s family members and her so called partying friends agreed to take a lie detector test?
I am so tired of hearing her lame excuse that she was passed out and has no clue. Give me a break. I do not care how screwed up she was, she sure enough remembered what all transpired before and after Haleigh’s disappearance. Hello Misty? You may fool some people with that excuse,not me.
I would love to think Lil Haleigh was still alive but all of Misty’s actions seem to make herself look guilty as sin.

I have been watching Nancy Grace FAITHFULLY for the past couple of years, and I’ve seen you several times on the show…I am so grateful that you are staying close to this case, it’s gut-wrenching that little Haleigh has yet to be found. I am a mother of 3, and I pray that little girl is found, just so she can finally be laid to rest, and able to rest peacefully. I could not imagine losing one of my children and it brings tears to my eyes everytime I think about how scared that sweet little girl must have been that night! I speak in the past tense about Haleigh because in my heart I feel like she’s now an angel, no longer with us. My question to you is this, you are close to this case, and you seem to have a very different opinion about Ron Cummings than Nancy Grace, is there something that you know about him that the public does not? Because like Nancy I feel like even though his lifestyle may have indirectly put Haleigh in harms way, he would NEVER directly have hurt her! The one and only thing that bothers me is Junior saying he saw a man in black, I hope that I’m right and Ron Cummings did not have a black uniform he wore for work!?!? I feel in my heart that Misty knows EXACTLY what happened to Haleigh and if she’s anything like that sociopath Casey Anthony we may never know the truth about what happened to that innocent, sweet, adorable child!!

NG needs to stop manipulating the story, she is merely throwing a hissy fit because Misty told her off. “Which I personally think was fantastic!!!!!!”Misty never stated she is in there because of Haleigh. Misty said she is in there because of what happened to Haleigh, and that when they find out what did happen to Haleigh she will be free. She said she is in there because of what happened to Haleigh at no point did she ever say she is in there because of Haleigh Cummings. How can anyone respect Nancy Grace or you when words and facts are twisted like that. A caller phoned in and asked two questions, the caller asked a general question about Ronald, and then asked if Tommy had reported back to Ronald that night. Nancy pulled up one of her “specialist” answered the first question and then completely changed the second question. She gave some answer to whether or not Ronald could cut a deal on his drug charges. Should Le charge Tommy with this tomorrow she would have all the things to say on him. Right now the gears are in motion against Misty there fore it is in her best interest to keep ratings by not answering questions like the caller asked. Then she says she is about Justice, truth, and good examples, morals, for children. Good examples, morals?Is teaching children to sell out for ratings which equals money a good example and teaching good morals? I don’t think so.
This is complete BS this on going lining of the pockets at the expense of this child.

Hi Art, I love you. You are great. I think some others are just a wee bit jealous.
The evidence and timeline to me at first supported the child being drugged to sleep at bedtime. Something then going very wrong.
That was till Tommy put himself at the house. Then I saw the police report and how he stole another gun. I do not think this is a coincidence. Tommy took that gun and not this cousin. He may have gone back to steal and little Haleigh woke up, Tommy is afraid of Ron and so on. If Tommy new any sex offender that would buy Haleigh. I would look into that as well. I find one thing very interesting. When the voice test was done and Misty pointed at Tommy. A reporter went to his home and told him what Misty said.
Tommy replied “she is out of her mind” She is crazy man.
On your tape Tommy is talking to Timmmy. Tommy says he went to court in Burnell county and people told him your sister turned you in for B and E. He tells Tommy he said “out of her mind” “crazy man”……Just saying.
If not either of these then someone did it to hurt Ron Cummings.

For me, it’s all about the beds, specifically, that they were still made-up even though it was after three o’clock in the morning. They indicate that the children were never tucked into bed that night — at least not in that trailer! Does this seem obvious to anyone else besides me? This simple detail, along with Tommy’s account of going by the home at ten o’clock that evening and not finding anybody home, leads me to conclude that Misty and the kids were out for at least a portion of that fateful night. Art, does any police report state what Junior was doing, or whether he was asleep, when cops arrived at the trailer in response to the 911 call?
… I am grateful to bear witness to Misty on these jailhouse tapes, especially now that she’s off of drugs and her true personality is therefore revealed. She is quite unsympathetic — and I used to feel really sorry for her; your bloggers are right that she has demonstrated more emotion and fear for herself in those first few tapes in jail, (not to mention in the 911 tape when her purse was stolen and her arm twisted), than she EVER did regarding Haleigh’s disappearance, even though she claimed to love the little girl like her own!
Art, I would SO appreciate any back story you can provide on Misty and Ronald’s upbringings, which I am sure would shed a lot of light on their present and terribly sad situtation. Let’s all put our heads together and use our intelligence, compassion and logic to BRING THIS CHILD HOME.

I have thought #4. I believe she tried to get Haleigh to go to bed and gave her something thinking it would make her tired but it was too much for her. Misty may have called Tommy for help and as he was picking Haleigh up from the bed Jr may have seen him but in the dark didn’t recognize him. Misty may well have been washing a blanket, as hard as it is to say, sometimes when people die body fluids come out. IF this were the case, Lyndsey would have to suspect or know something, maybe why Tommy told her not to talk? To me, this just makes the most sense albeit pure speculation. ( As much of a scumbag as Tommy is, i can’t imagine him killing his niece, he has kids the same age).

I’m thinking if LE releases Ron, Misty will be so ticked she will talk, talk and talk some more..LE can return him to jail soon after..He will head straight for the drugs and get caught again..If they really want her to talk, release them all, and watch her talk..LE won’t be able to shut her up..This won’t happen, but nothing is working, and I am clueless..She hasn’t talked for a year, and it isn’t likely she will talk now.. IMO

I can imagine that she might just spend the next 20 years in a cell, and beyond and never truly know ‘part she played,’ even after flunking a poly.
Just like near at least ‘in part’ of our population spending their lives getting fed and better healthcare than the homeless.
Makes about as much sense, as a great big brand-new jailhouse, a beautiful pink palace…and a college rotting away just across Union Street.

Ronald and Misty had everything to do with Haleigh missing. Ronald knew that Misty did not want to babysit. His mother refused to babysit. Alot of arguing going on, both over-tired, plus the 3 day drugs, party etc., Grandma Sykes was mad at Misty for leaving Ronald with no one to care for the kids. IMO: Before Ronald left to work, he gave the kids or at least Haleigh (drugs) to get her to sleep. During their phone arguments Misty was having a difficult time with Haleigh and she wouldn’t go to sleep so Ronald instructed Misty to give (Haleigh) some more drugs and was(overdosed). The cadaver dogs picked up several scents near the trailer, which indicate Haleigh was placed and moved around several times. IMO: There were at least 3 (relatives) people involved that helped cover this crime. That’s why Haleigh can’t be found!

I keep thinking of the little girl not far from there that was kidnapped from a trailor and grandparents sleeping right next door. Turned out to be an old man sex predator. I can’t believe that family could have been persecuted like they have been and not revealed something or their friends. Misty said don’t cry that only makes it hurt more, that is someone that has been hurt so much in her young life that she knows she has to project a strong image. She is a survivor and I hope she can withstand the media making her into a monster. The family is poor, uneducated, but they present a united front and if they have nothing else they have love for each other. I hope God will reveal the truth so that family if they are innocent can go on with their life and maybe find a decent job.

Art: With you having face to face conversation,and i use that term loosely,I really doubt you can have conversation with ANY of them,Misty clan,crystal clan,neves clan, cummings clan,even the Donna clan however, What do you think happened to precious Haleigh? Speaking of liars what about that Donna seems to me one of the top liars,drives all the way to VA and back to just give Misty her pain meds because she does not need them…. horse %^&* in Lisa’s terms! Art I have watched this the whole year you got my one post that i think Misty does not have even the streetsmarts, school smarts,no family structure ,but (they seem to stick together ,)good ,bad and ugly!They have no money,Misty tells even of her brother stealing dish liquid thats scraping the bottom of the barrel to tell what she knows…now they talk about her angry side coming out,Art a beaten dog will eventually try and bite you or atleast snap at you.Has Junior been ask if Misty had them outside of the house.if they had been at anyone else house that night?Or if Misty was in bed with him? Please if you would reply to me about that.Was any drug testing done on Misty or Ronald that night,which I think should be mandatory to anyone close to a child’s vanishing! I am a 46 year old grandmother now but I have to admit I was a teenager experimenting with alcohol,weed, some pills here and far between ,coke(oh my, have i just caught charges for admitting that)thank God I did not have an addictive personality and let it go when i knew it was not for me..so listening to Dr.Bethany ,author of dealbreakers really disappoints me with her theories sometimes, after her long term education she misses the mark alot!What i’m saying is after a party weekend ,,I’d crash, I think that is why Misty did not want to babysit she wanted to sleep it off and can you imagine the arguing and possible abuse that went on between she and Ronald.I think she had the kids in bed alot earlier than 10pm.And so did she.Art what time did ggma bring by the laundry? If she had wanted to continue partying she would have not came home yet.She was needing rest so she went home tail tucked between legs begging.I do not know if it was Tommy in the house that Junior seen but i think his detail of all black and squeaking shoes happened.Burglars are usually in all black,maybe he or she was looking for drugs or guns which i’d say Ronald showed and bragged about having to anyone and everyone that would listen,maybe Misty was not really in that room asleep but in another and did not want to admit that to Ronald maybe her inconsistencies are from her fear of Ronald thinking she was neglecting his children because of crashing after being out with this other guy for days… by the way Art is the reports true of Ronald’s extensive record where most ALL cases were dismissed?The talk also about Their being in jail because of precious Haleigh,Of course it is not the fault of this baby but if you read between the lines this is true….Fact is they are in jail for drug charges but would have found someway,somehow …stealing and forging checks or selling dish liquid,maybe even convincing grandma to get a second or third etc..mortgage to bail them out, you knew they were no strangers to bail bonds each and everyone of them…but fact: Had precious Haleigh not gone missing they would be home now awaiting trial…One outside the family stated not even a hired hitman would have that high of bail!And though an arrest for these drug charges is fair and just Putnam co. has blurred the two cases into one.Do not misunderstand i get why they are holding them but it does also say loud and clear they have nothing… nothing to go on.I hope for Haleigh’s case to be solved soon but will the pride of putnam co. ever admit that they have dropped the ball, really only looking to Misty and settle for the Max drug sentence to punish Misty for Haleigh,allowing her killer to walk right by under all their noses…All I want is and complete and true Justice for Haleigh.Even charging Misty with negligence and Ronald for allowing his children in the care of a burned out possibly abused child herself by Ronald’s hands.Art please reply i value your reports and would like to know your thought to your question!Thank you sincerely

My theory: Haleigh overdosed on drugs. Drugs that were given to her so she would sleep. I have thought this from the moment Haleigh was reported missing. I think Misty left Haleigh and Junior alone and went out to party. When she returned home, she discovered Haleigh was dead. She was not alone when she came home. She had help in dumping little Haleigh in a aligator infested lake. She came back to the trailer, cleaned up a little, and waited for Ronald to come home.
One question Ronald asked Misty during the call to 911: Why did you let them take her, b****? Because he knew Haleigh was dead, overdosed on his drug stash, and disposed of by Misty and their druggie friends. Ronald may not have been directly responsible for Haleigh’s death, but his life style contributed to it. And both families know or suspect who helped Misty dispose of Haleigh. And so it would see to me that these families are more concerned about drugs and money, than doing the right thing for Haleigh. The grief is not there, the sadness is missing for this precious child. No where is this evident in any member of either family.
This is just my opinion.

From all account of Ron’s personality; he comes off as a woman abuser and if you know the actions of such; chances are if she did not answer the phone after twenty calls; never mind even missing one call; his reaction to stay at work does not add up for this type of personality. Did she even have her phone or did he take it as punishment as most abusers would do, cut you off from any contact; if she went on a 3 day binge, then there was hell to pay for that one. I just can’t see her ignoring his 1st call; when someone is controlling you; you dare not step out of line in fear of further consequences. There is more to this? I believe she was home and did not answer the door when Tommy knocked as he stated. If you recall the incident after when her family tried to get her away from Ron, what transpired, she turned on them to protect him. LE dig deeper into Ron’s psyche!!

Tommy-knocker said nobody was home, so where where the VAN owners???? Hmmm? out with misty and the kids, I presume. did ALL come back? nope. and what, the van owners just had to get back home right away with haliegh missing, thats odd isn’t it. scratches on the van, too. Hmmm? This whole case stinks of fould play, lies and BS. I feel the way the croslin hillbillies are rallying around Misty now, is the way they rallied when Haliegh happended. They all had a hand in this!

I have a question. The night Haleigh went missing, does anyone know if Misty had a cell phone? I know that LE can sometimes track a person whereabout by pings from a cell phone. I heard on one of the jailhouse videos that Misty was asking her father to put more minutes on her phone, I took that to be a cell phone.

Here’s a theory…Misty was tired and didn’t want to deal with the kids. Jr. probably went to bed and Haleigh wanted to play. She gave Haleigh an oxycotin and went to sleep. She woke up and realized Haleigh died. Left to get rid of the body…probably in a dumpster somewhere. She propped open the door so she wouldn’t wake up Jr as she left and came back. After all, she needs to carry Haleigh and she doesn’t want the door to slam shut and wake up Jr. So accidentally she killed Haleigh just like Casey killed Caylee. When will people realize you can’t give kids medication without the consent of a Dr? But have things really changed…I remember my parents giving me grasshoppers (crème de menthe milkshakes) so I will go to sleep when they were having a party. Instead of alcohol it seems this generation has switched to drugs. Not good…

Lisa is only 38!!!! That should discourage some people from some of her activities. Since Tommy is 23, this would make her 15 at Tommy’s birth and even younger at Timmy’s birth as I believe Timmy is older than Tommy. If this is true, maybe this explains some of she and Hanks parenting decisions. Lisa being only 38 makes that very hard to believe.

After listening to Thursdays show, where Misty showed everyone what a lady she is with her tirade toward NG, along with the continued lamenting from both families that they are just being persecuted for no reason, something occurred to me. You should go back through just the past year-365 days,and add up the number of times this whole bunch has been arrested for whatever reasons. Calculate what they have spent in bail money. (How many people know bail bondsmen on a first name basis?) I was reading back through your
blog and Lord, they’ve called the cops on each other at one time or another over the silliest things.

To this day I maintain that Misty lost her temper with Haleigh that night. There were previous incidents of Misty having to call Ronald at work because Haleigh would not go to bed when told. I think it was a repeat of that situation and Misty lost it and hurt her or she caused Haleigh to have a massive asthma attack. The Misty that made the 911 call was not in a panic, not spaced out on drugs, didn’t sound sleepy, in fact she was quite composed for a 17 year old girl who had just lost a child on her watch. In comparison Ronald was absolutely beside himself on the 911 call. LE needs to cut a deal with either her or Tommy in exchange for the location of Haleigh. They will also have to offer them protection from Ronald. Only then will either of them tell what they know. As long as they are facing more time in jail on drug charges than any possible charges with respect to Haleigh they are not going to talk.

I think she was in the house with the lights off bouncing on the couch with the guy in black.
He unlocked the back door and came back when he was sure Misty was asleep.
She may or may not have drugged herself to sleep.
It is possible he took her without Misty waking up. I don’t think Misty actually hurt the child.
To admit it would be telling Ron she screwed around right after she and Ron had “talked all night” (according to Neves.)
So the Police are more likely to get info on who it was if she thinks there is really no more future with Ron; not by Ron stringing her along.

Something else, I keep hearing people go back and forth about the intelligence level (or lack of) this whole group. If anything, they are selectively stupid. When Misty and her Dad made such asses of themselves over NG remark about the “Chicken Nuggets in her Car”, they acted as if they were being put down as “not as good as” NG. Notice how Mistys dad even says “she thinks she’s better than us.” Now, they both know that NG was loud and clear in her comments that she was disgusted with Mistys bitching about the food in the jail.
Same thing when Misty was talking about getting a visit from CPS about Ron. She starts out defending him, saying what a good dad he is and then literally in the same sentence accuses him of taking her all of her perscription.

I am getting tired hearing Nancy Grace doing her best to defend Ron. He is trash and is as guilty as Misty. He loves the attention he’s getting. I can’t stand even looking at him.
It wouldn’t do for me to be in that jail questioning her, I would pull her fingernails out with plyers to make her talk. It’s time to end this mess and find that little girl. This is where a little waterboarding would have Misty and Ron telling everything.

ART: Why does anybody believe TOMMY when he says he went there??remember, he SPIT THAT OUT AFTER he was arrested for the stolen checks, etc..maybe said that just to place himself at the scene of the crime at that time of the night,{even though he was there earlier w/his kids at 5pm with Haleigh/junior playing in the front yard.}Sorry,but he is a TROLL.Maybe Misty can’t remember accurately BECAUSE she was on pills but was home;but the fact that she didn’t want to watch the kids and Ms. Neves said she couldn’t w/o her son’s permission, proves that she has a history of this happening,{being unable to watch the kids because of being loaded}, by having to have it OK’d by Ron, he would know her condition…A WAY OF CHECKING/DETECTING HER STATE;..a very important point is that the half life of these drugs is short, so users take lg.quantities over a period of hours; I think that she woke up, didn’t know what happened, panicked, and MAYBE THATS WHY SHE CALLED BROTHER TIMMY; {who was “visiting” at the time along with “cousin Joe” whom both MAGICALLY DISAPPEARED BY THE NEXT DAY??? Hmmm, Ron’s AT WORK…His house is filled with CROSLINS, who all do pills…My God, Ron should have had a CROSLIN-CAM {like a nannycam}in his house.

I think the only time misty went out was to hide the body of Haleigh and junior was still asleep or druged I think she OD. And did a dog in the begaing go too some lake? Where trail went dead? And yes I think Tommy went inside and saw JR sleeping and no one else there. I think it will be tommy that breaks he misses his wife and kids and dope.

Mistys mom is FUBR. and she has to be over sixty, run hard and a hard drug user. there is no way she is under 35 and cant read. i could see it if she is 40 or 50 but not in her 30s. i just took it she had mrs drug head, babysitter at an oler age. that whole family and the so called dad of Haeigh is a bunch of fu– ups and there are the kind of people that just take up the air we breath,,FRY THEM ALL…

I totally agree with Sunshine. I believe Misty did lose control with Haleigh. There have been people that have come forward and claimed to see Misty hit Junior in the past. Also I remember a co worker of Ron’s claiming to have once heard Ron talking to Misty, apparently she was having trouble getting Haleigh to go to bed. This was way before the night she went missing and it makes sense, it can be hard to get kids her age to go bed. I think her family may have helped her cover it up getting rid of her body and staging the crime scene. I also wonder if maybe she gave Haleigh something to make her sleep, possibly oxy. Ron’s mom said Haleigh didn’t like taking medicine but it would have been easy for Misty to crush it and put it in a drink to hide the taste. Tommy claims to have gone to the house and banged on the door but no one answered. In my opinion this is not incriminating, I think Tommy said that to help back up Misty’s story of being knocked out. I think the Croslin’s know what happend and are sticking together to protect Misty.

Sosmething happened to Haleigh before Ron went to work. Ron left for work, then Misty left with friends or family. She returned to the trailer before Ron returned from work. They concocted a strategy for 911..Misty wasn’t upset in the 911 call. She already knew what had happened..Ron sounded suspicious talking to the 911 operator.. IMO
Questions:
1) Why did Ron call Misty twenty times while at work, then when he gets home asks her “Why are you up so late?” Was this asked in front of LE?
2) Who saw Haleigh playing outside after Ron went to work besides family? If anyone else, have they been polygraphed?
3) How was Neves able to get to Ron’s house so quickly after the 911 call? Did she know something sooner?
4) Why has no one come forward after a year with a valuable tip? Are they afraid “remain anonymous” isn’t foolproof, and the threat of death trumps a call to LE?
5) What time did Ron clock in for work the day Haleigh went missing? What were his activities before he left for work?

I do not believe Misty will crack at all before she is sentenced for the drug charges. She has seen so many friends and family go through the revolving doors of the Florida justice system that she does not believe she will serve serious time. Normaly, she would most likely be correct. Most offenders get many chances before they are sentenced to time in jail.

First I thought the timeline indicated an accidental overdose in getting her to sleep.
But then we have Tommy putting himself at the scene. I think Tommy went to steal and has a fear of Ron so if Haleigh woke up and caught him….or does Tommy have someone he could have sold Haleigh to? a sex offender?
I noticed that when Misty pointed her finger at Tommy he said “out of her mind” she is crazy that is also what Tommy said when he was told that Misty told on him for the B and E
maybe that is what Tommy says when someone calls him on his actions.

Art, Ican’t help but believe that Haleigh was traded for a drug debt. Everyone talks about all the 3 day partying, drugs and boose cost money and no one seemed to have a job. Misty sure dosen’t seem very remorsed or missing Haleigh. Tommy seems like a simple common thief, who steals what is convenient. Like dish liquid etc. that seemsw to me like a cleptomanic, not a child molester , has Tommy ever taken a lie detector test? Like in the case of little Shaniah her Mom, seemed to set up the deal, then left the door unlocked, and left the rest to the child trafficer, I don’t for one moment think Misty was Knocked out, she is a very cunning, manipulative girl. Look at the way she cons her family for money to get just what she wants. She is a pathetic selfish whiner, and the truth will finally come out! I pray Haleigh is alive & safe

Someone has to break here. I swear Misty is just one in this mess. Little Haleigh is a child. Someone other than Misty must break because Misty will go to her grave before she would confess to anything. Misty will not break, I do not care what prison we put her in, what horrible things she will encounter and live through, she will adapt. That is her life style and the way she was raised. Misty Will Not Break!!! Never, Never, so unless someone else breaks, we will never find Haleigh. Art, what do you think and what does your instincts tell you? Tommy? So many Mr. Goodman’s…that one that gives, or rather teaches music lessons, and the one on Roseanne…(reminds me of a pup)…and the one I call my husband…no matter how long we’ve been a ‘part.’
And I still say Misty could be ‘touched’ to tell the truth and and tell no lies, first though we need to get in touch with dear, old dad.
Might be hope to even let them lose one day upon a dream…ain’t even enough ‘jobs’ for someone that would be happy just to collect garbage or deliver your mail…it’s not easy.
Yet, for a few that get to sit and get make-up applied and have twins and in reality a lot easier than someone that does reconstruction surgery…
Although, when I make chicken soup and have cleaned that animal and defeathered it, and watched them running ’round with their heads chopped off…I still do wonder.

From the beginning I felt the crime scene was staged. There was no forced entry and the door was propped open with a cinderblock. I think Misty killed Haleigh and she acted alone and was lucky nobody saw her get rid of the body. She probably dumped Haleigh in a swamp to get eaten by alligators. Misty didn’t want to be there that night after her three-day drug binge and was coerced into babysitting. Misty and Ronald were fighting until about eight o’clock when she shut off her phone. Haleigh probably started misbehaving and Misty just had enough and squeezed the life out of her. I don’t know what was going on with Junior. Maybe he was asleep or had “help” falling asleep. She probably left him alone in the trailer when she dumped the body.
Misty had the opportunity and here is the motive. She’s not your average teenager. All she’s known in her life is chaos. Her parents are druggies and drunks who lied, cheated, stole, and did whatever felt good at the time. Misty ended up being homeless and abused. She survived by any means necessary. Then Ronald came along and she latched onto him for some stability. He has his own issues and he used her for free sex, housekeeping and babysitting.
At 17, Misty’s life should have revolved around school and friends, instead of playing house and taking care of two kids that aren’t even hers night after night. Haleigh was probably a handful, as most five-year olds are, and she also had health problems. I can picture her telling Misty when Ronald wasn‘t there, “you’re not my mommy; you can‘t tell me what to do.” Misty had expressed her frustration to one of the neighbors, telling him to “pray for her.”
Misty and Haleigh were only 12 years apart in age. They competed for Ronald’s attention. Misty even told him she was pregnant to try and get him to marry her. Ronald got enraged and threw her into the wall and then out of the trailer. And that was the start of Misty’s three-day revenge romance.
Oh, and I don’t believe that Tommy was ever at the trailer. I think he lied about that.

So many theories…If we knew what LE knows it would be a big help..lol I think they know a lot, and I am proud of them for running a tight ship, but the tapes, and some of the things that aren’t redacted is confusing to me..They know what is on them before they are released, but if it helps in finding Haleigh, the tapes are serving their purpose…IMO

Art, you know what really gets to me? The fact that, because of these people’s lifestyles, we have so many possible scenarios of what could have happened to Haleigh. I lean heavily towards the “overdosed to get her to sleep” theory, but, as you said, to what extent does Ronald play a part? And can you confirm what I have read elsewhere, is his new GF also connected to the Van Der Sloots in the Natalee Holloway case? If this is true, well, just when I thought things “down there” couldn’t get any bizarre, I find out how mistaken I was!

Haleigh had astma. Didn’t I read that her nebulizer or updraft machine (with which she would recieve breathing treatments) was missing from the trailor? Could she have been having trouble breathing (either from a drug overdose or asthma excerbation) and either not have gotten a treatment or the treatment didn’t work and she died? Or did the nebulizer go with her when she was “taken?” Did she vomit while getting a treatment and the nebulizer would have held “evidence” of an overdose and so was discarded along with her? Didn’t cadaver dogs hit on a dumpster at one time? Couldn’t the body have been moved multiple times? I have seen people using Oxycodone while trying to “babysit:” they are completely “out of it:” sleeping sitting up; falling asleep in the middle of a sentence. Misty would not have known if a hurricane blew in.

I have been following this site, off and on from the beginning, but this is my first time to make a comment.
Most believe that Misty knows more than she is saying, and I agree, but what about Ron?
He is at work, calling Misty repeatedly, even gets worried and calls her brother and asks him to go to the house and check on them. He learns that no one answered the door. Instead of going right home to check on his children, he stays at work and stops for a beer on the way home. He gets home and finds out that Haleigh is missing…yet, he never tells the police that he had been calling home all night…or that he asked Misty’s brother to check on them?
Along with Misty, Ron knows more than he’s telling. To me, that spells G-U-I-L-T-Y.

I have followed this case from the beginning. The only real disagreement I have had with Nancy Grace is her downgrading Crystal Haleigh’s biological Mom and her being fooled by Ronald Cummings theatrics. I do think he had remorse but not innocence. If you have ever been in an abusive relationship as both Crystal and Misty and the Mom of that other child of Ronald’s he abused all three. He seduced them at a very early age and made them believe he would carry out whatever means necessary to keep them under his complete control. I think that is why Crystal didn’t win custody she was terrified of him. I think that is why Misty will not talk becasue she is more scared of Ronald than she is of LE. I think it is a possibility that the fight continued from Misty’s three day sex/drug spree that had to be a slap in the face to Ronald. I think he probably made Misty mad enough she didn’t want to keep his kids.I think they owed big drug money and when they came collecting Misty let them take her. I think the comment on the 911 tape is way underplayed when he said “why did you let them take my child bitch? They later said he was talking to the 911 people and not to Misty but that makes absolutely no sense. Its either that or the little girl got in her Dad’s stash and overdosed. Either way Ronald Cummings knows who took his child people or death. Misty maintains her silence out of fear of Ronald and thanks to the media he continues to send the message he will “kill” whoever.

Other— in San Mateo with the blue van and the kids; someone in Crystal’s extended family took Haileigh which is why Misty’s lie detector test showed that Misty is more confused than lying about “who took Haleigh”; Ron knows a little about this and knows that if he “cooperates” in certain ways that he will see Haleigh again (that’s why he’s trying to keep Misty and Tommy quiet). Nice to think about because Haleigh is alive in this scenario.
Or, someone else waged a vendetta against Ron and they took Haleigh and threatened Misty; Ron keeps everyone quiet because ultimately it is his fault; but not one other clue has emerged about this angle? And sadly, Haleigh is not alive.
Or,much sadder and far less complicated, Misty was at home; Haleigh somehow got some drugs that killed her (got into them on her own or Ron/Misty gave them to her to get her to sleep); Tommy et al. involved in the cover-up.

I live in Putnam County & I had full trust in Putnam County LE to find Haleigh. They need to stop p*ssy footing around, ask her direct questions & let her sit hand cuff to a table till she gives them all the unanswer questions they have. That is not cruel punshiment that is direct. As for Ron they need to ask him WHY does he keep foiling any attemps to get her to talk??? If any one talks to Misty tell her EVERYONE around her friends, family and the love of her life is the ones pointing the finger at her, just by what they are saying. Save yourself girl these people are trying to save their own A$$ES & making you look guilty as hell. To the PCSD I believe in you guys, please don’t let all the children in Putnam County down. Actions speak louder than words, if it’s not one of these many Sex offenders prove it. Misty if you love your family at all tell the truth, you are hurting your nieces & nephews by acting dumb, your friends that were there or you was out with don’t give a damn about you. If you have nothing to hide answer the questions.

I believe Ronald was unaware of what was going on that night while he worked. I believe he was very concerned when Misty didn’t answer his calls, thus, calling Tommy to go over and check on them. He might be a lot of things but i honestly believe he loved his kids. He wouldn’t have gotten custody of them if he love them so much. My impression of Crystal is that she was never a very caring mother. She had a flimsy excuse ofr not trying to get custody. I think Tommy was dragged into this by Misty after something happened to Haleigh, and i don’t see how his wife doesn’t know something as well, she had to hae wondered what was going on. I think the weakest link in this is Lyndsey and it might be a good time for LE to put the pressure on her. A few comments from Tommy..told wife not to talk and “i’d do anything to get out of here (pause) except sell my soul”. Figure of speech or code to Timmy for “i won’t go so far as to talk about what happened to Haleigh. Just a theory of course.

Only making a guess on what I hear reported on TV. I believe that the child died in her home from a reaction/overdose of drugs. I believe this drug was administered by Misty Croslin. I believe that there was a “party” of sorts going on and the child was drugged to induce sleep.
Misty would not have wanted Ronald to know she had guests in the home, as they hadn’t really made up yet. Bringing her boyfriends into the home would be a dangerous thing to do and the child may have told her father. Thus, I believe she was drugged to keep her silent prior to the nights activities. I don’t believe she was given a pill, the child may have reported that as well, it was probably placed into a drink to mask it.
I believe the crime scene was set up and the home sanitized, with help from either her brother or another. I don’t think many people are in on the secret. Just Misty and her helper and possibly only one other. Very unlikely that a person doing a kidnap is going to take the time to find a cinder block and prop the door open. Misty was allegedly asleep in the bedroom from which the child disappeared. The actor would not take the chance of waking her up, they didn’t know she was “exhausted” from days of partying, as Misty claims. Thus all the time taken, lights turned on, blocks placed at doors just is not true.It was reported that the child’s bed did not appear slept in. No, not after Misty made it stupidly thinking that would hide some evidence. I would be willing to bet the police didn’t find one MJ roach, or a single thing out of place when they arrived. All beer cans were removed, all evidence of any and all wrong doing were long gone is my guess.
The blanket that the child wet was probably washed in the washing machine without detergent, just trying to rinse the urine out of it because they were under the impression that the blanket would be collected as evidence and were afraid that the drug would show up in a sample taken from the blanket. The bed was then made after the blanket was dried. Misty has added too many unnecessary details, details that point directly to her. There are a few details missing from the TV reports but I believe there is enough there to get a pretty good idea what happened.

Regarding Ronald. I don’t believe he has any idea what happened. He seems to believe Misty to a degree and thinks she may eventually lead him to the abductor. He sabotages the attempts of LE to find the abductor because he believes it to be someone in their circle and has the tough guy fantasy of extracting his own justice. He doesn’t want LE to find them before he does. He believes he would walk from any charge because he thinks he has public opinion and sympathy on his side. In his own words, he feels it would be justifiable homicide. He is pretty easy to read.

Art, you said that Ronald had basically drop kicked Misty when he thought she might be pregnant, though sired by another man, and tried to harm that “child” inside in order for it to abort itself.
Misty seems to be chomping at the bit but unseen forces are holding her back, preventing her from telling the truth. She knows who it was. Tommy puts himself there at the trailer. Who else would Misty protect so fiercely? Blood runs thicker than water. (But) I can’t see any of the Croslins doing something violent to Haleigh. (Though they fight amongst themselves and rat each other out, they seem to also care about one other.)
UNLESS, the brother(s) found out Misty had been pummeled by Ron and wanted vengeance.
Have the Croslin brothers and family been questioned about Misty’s “might have been” pregnancy and Ron’s rough treatment of her? Could that have incited Haleigh’s disappearance? (Retaliation)
I also think Misty might have been too tired to party anymore, so I don’t think she went out and did drugs again, elsewhere, but then again, the made up beds at 3 AM begs some questions. (Could they have slept on TOP of the covers?) But then, why the stories about who watched what tape on tv, as if they were up, even if they were in bed?
I have heavy sleepers in my family. ALL of them would sleep through repeated, loud knocking, AND multiple barking dogs (which they didn’t have, I know)running around the room at the same time. She REALLY may have slept through a kidnapping. (I flip then I flop)
I come back to the cousin a lot in my thoughts. The air conditioner repairman. The Croslin brothers. That scratched van. I think it’s all related. Suspected drug/gun acquaintances. (But) Misty and Ron themselves have just acted so queerly, so oddly and weirdly since this whole abduction/disappearance began. They practically point the fingers at themselves. It’s almost like they know who it was but think that they will get justice “their way, one day.”
I also wonder if this was an accidental killing, why the whole hullabaloo regarding the after death maneuvers. Why not just call 911 and say Haleigh had an asthma attack and was unconscious?

Or else it was a local pedophile, like the one who took Jessica Lunsford, and kept her alive for days, RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO WHERE SHE LIVED. Truth is often stranger than fiction.
I also keep going back to Misty looking at Ron before answering questions during the early days of the crime, when they appeared on air. They know something, if not everything.

I really don’t think Misty will every tell anything
because she doesn’t know anything, she was out of
it! Ron, he knows something wasn’t right but not
sure what because he called home so many times.
Tommy, he is three fries short of a Happy Meal,
he put himself at the house when Misty said she
went to sleep? Why, that is a question that needs
a answer. Nacey Grace, blows my mind she thinks Ron
is a good father but she gave Haleigh Mom a hard time.
It is hard for me to believe that they can’t find a
five year old little girl who has been lost for a year

To Peter 02-14 #43 The old adage you are referring to should read “Rode hard and put away wet” which was referring to an old nag of a horse that wasn’t properly dried after a hard ride. In reference to Misty’s mom who I believe must have looked a lot like Misty when she was young. Just how old was she anyway when she had the first child,
Timmy, about 14 or 15? Back to the question. My thought is OTHER I have felt that possibly the Sheffields had something to do with Haleigh’s abduction as, to me…Momma Marie and On Another Planet Crystal seemed unconcerned on their first appearance on TV and seriously not worried about Haleigh – nothing like devastated Teresa who had done a lot of babysitting with Ron’s children. As time goes by, now I don’t have a clue as to what has happened to Haleigh but she could, IMO, have been thrown into an alligator pond which explains why searches have revealed nothing. If the Sheffields took her, they may have wanted Jr. also but Misty might have come home and the noise scared them from going any farther. Certainly, Haleigh, a fiesty child, would have gone easily with the Sheffields as she was with them a very small amount of time. I am now inclined to think that possibly the theory that Haleigh O.D.’s could have happened, someone helped Misty dispose of haleigh etc.

my totally uneducated guess here would be no. 4. i base that on the police that the answer lies within this network of friends. i think Missy was unable to cope with a rambunctious kid that night and fed Hailey a pill to calm her down. Brother Tommy may be involved in covering up the situation,but I don’t think he was the prime cause. This girl is like Casey Anthony plus an attitude.
while i am sounding off here, I realize that Ron C. is far from a saint in his life but why all the hate? I have seen pictures on the internet of Ron C. with his children (prior to the abduction) and have seen the tapes on the NG show with his interactions with his mother. Whatever else he may be, he certainly loves his family. The police have been forthright that he was at work that night and not at the trailer. People blame him for having a messed-up Missy take care of his kids but if you don’t have money, sometimes your options are not that wide. it was missy or his mother and his mother was at work that night. his calling so much that night may show that he knew he made a mistake and was worried what was going on? like another poster said, it would be interesting to know ron’s background. where is ron’s dad? i could be very wrong but i am willing to bet that bravado has a world of pain behind it.

a couple of other points and i’ll shut up. missy is the one who flunked the lie detector tests and, if memory serves, ron passed his. also, i think the police can tell, can they not if ron’s calls to missy that night were answered and if they were of any length. since they seem to be leaning on her and not him, my guess is they verified that he made calls that night that were not answered on her end. his threats to kill whoever took his daughter seem to indicate he does not have a clue as to who did it-if he did, he would have probably been out after them and not on the phone with 911. also, missy seemed pretty alert to me in the immediate aftermath of ron’s coming home. she was up, awake, and had a story ready to tell. again, i could be completely wrong with this whole thing but this what i am seeing.

If I read one more thing about Ron drugging Haleigh I swear I will vomit… Okay, let’s clear some things up: Misty’s cell phone records: Multiple calls to TIMMY. RONALD drugging his daughter: RIDICULOUS! RONALDS CELL PHONE RECORDS: showed his calls to Misy’s cell phone, then the Croslin residence. Tommy blabbed that Ron called and asked him to go check on Misty because she wasn’t answering her phone. But why did Tommy state this only AFTER he was arrested on the theft charges; When Ron was approached by MEDIA, he didn’t deny it. All of u questioning if Ron had anything to do w/it: Then why would he KEEP calling Misty, and after no responses,then resort to calling TOMMY?? That shows concern, not GUILT!! Oh and most importantly, how do we know if TOMMY went there?? And remember, there is a thing called cell phone pings; these show the areas where calls are placed/recieved…yet another thing proving Ronald’s innocence!! Well, gotta run…going to write another letter to Ron!!! Do any of u have a message for him?? He needs a good laugh.

I’ve never heard this mentioned that I can recall, but do you have an explanation or theory as to why the reward for HaLeigh is so low? The 30 or 35K seems very low for a case that has been as high profile as this one has.
I’ve seen cities like Los Angeles put up rewards of 50K for information leading to an arrest of a hit and run suspect.

If Misty wanted a baby and Ron said he did not want any more children as Nay Nay said in your interview. How did Misty feel about that? Did it change the way she felt about Haleigh? What about Tommy? In someones drugged up mixed up mind could they have thought that by getting rid of Haleigh, they were making room for a new baby? That with Haleigh out of the way Ron would want another child?

That seems rather irrelevant being people were coming and going for hours after he left that night (supposedly). Personally, I think she was out and the children were unattended. There were reports swirling in the beginning of this case that she was known to leave the children alone and sneak out after Ronald went to work. If people knew this, then is seems likely someone sat back and waited for the perfect opportunity to take Haleigh. Or someone slips out from where Misty went to party and goes into the home. Misty comes back home a shortly before Ronald’s shift is up and finds Haleigh missing. A missing child under your care would seem to be enough to sober most anyone up!
The only part that puzzles me is the brick in the door. Unless this was in place to keep the door from slamming and waking the kids up on her way out.

I have been saying that Tommy took Haleigh from the first week she went missing and sold or swapped her for drugs. To a sex predator in the area, and yes I know his name. But LE refuses to look at this person or to listen to me because I’m a psychic. I saw details in my vision that this sex predator used in his past crimes. Haleigh was also there. I don’t believe that tommy was alone that night. I think people will be shocked to learn who was all involved.

I believe she was home but not answering the door. I’m certain Ronald had instructed her not to answer the door, or answer the phone. She could not take a chance that anyone else would know that Haleigh was already missing. In the tapes that played on NG tonight, I heard one or two new things. Teresa Neves asked Ronald if he though Misty was going to talk. Ronald was quick to point out that their phone conversation was being recorded, and then she acted like she was hoping Misty would incriminate herself in Haleigh’s disappearance. I believe Misty had a point about drug use on the Cummings side of the family. TN always sounds stoned. If she has the nerve to say that on TV, it shouldn’t be too long before she starts giving up a lot more! I think the cookie is starting to crumble!

Art this is my theory.
I think that when Ronald couldn’t get ahold of Misty, he was trippin cuz he was stuck at work, so he called Tommy.
When Tommy went over ther I think he did have to pound on the doors and windows. Misty was passed out with the babies!
This was a 17 year old playin house! Everyone knows she didn’t want to babysit that night.
She wanted to sleep!
So she gave the babies something so that they can sleep too.
Maybe she did have someone over. They left and she passed out.
I think that she passed out and woke up to Tommy beatin on the windows and realized the baby was dead.

If Tommy, (in the moment) decided to get rid of Haliegh’s body, I don’t think he would’ve went far, probably straight down green lane to the dead end and then walked down the foot path (that you can painly see on the map) and maybe fed her to the crocs. Did they search that area? Are there crocs there?
Also I wonder if you know if Lindsey was questioned about what time Tommy left and what time he got back home?

Misty is the only sweet child in this story. A stranger abducted Haleigh. End of story. Haleigh was a problem child who had a very dim future even before considering all her disabilities.

Hello Art, I would like to thank you so much for keeping up with this case.
You know Art you can see the anger Tommy has towards his sister Misty. He tells Lindsey not to wave at Misty in one of their conversations. He also tells his wife to save the income tax money in case he can bail out. How selfish is that!! Lindsey needs to worry about supporting herself and her children.
Misty has no concerns for her brother Tommy. Hank Sr. tells Misty that Tommy is taking this hard and Misty says Why? Hank sr. basicly says it is because he cannot be with his wife and children. Misty me too. I guess she meant with her family and Ron.She has no children.
When Ron is talking with his mom Teresa he is telling her that this person Jason says Misty does not care about her mom, dad , and brother and never cried when mentioning them, but when he mentioned Ron being locked up and him losing Jr. Misty cried real tears and very hard. Misty is in love with Ron. This statement tells me that there is nothing she would not do for Ron.
Misty does say she is hurt by Ronalds comment that he did not ask her to get that tattoo, that she brags about in jail according to Jason, because he did. Misty tells her dad that Ron got in her head. Misty said Ron broke up with his gf and wanted her back.
Art I have question? Why is DCF investigating now; Ron and Mistys drug habits? Are they planning on bringing additional charges for some reason?
I find Mistys comments on the fact they do not have a bad family. They think the Cummings family is so great! They all do pills; all of them. It’s crazy, but I got the feeling that Misty was being truthful.
Art , I found an article that states Rons work hours were 4pm – 3am written Sept 3rd, 2009 on BNN and I also found your article under the Headline: ‘Haleighs last day’ written in September that states Rons lawyers “Say” his work hours were 5PM – 3am. I do recall you having the same hours listed as 4pm – 3am and PDM says their hours for that shift is 3:30pm – 2:00am m- th and fridays 3:30pm -8:30pm. You can see why I am so confused. Which is Rons actual work hours? Is there no real confirmation by LE or PDM for his work hours? I would think after a year that his work hours would not still be an issue if he has such an air tight alibi; which I do not think he does.

Art: You are 100% in these people being in denial. However, Misty IS digging her own grave, and digging the graves of most of the others by snitching on just about everything she knows about them. For instance, she snitched out her brother, Hank, Jr., telling LE that he stole from the neighbors. It doesn’t sound like he knows YET that it was his sister who told on him. He probably thinks they just SOMEHOW found out. Just wait until he finds out. He will be so upset with her that he may just tell a little bit more about what he knows about her and Misty’s disappearance.

I have heard so many scenerios in this case that I don’t know what to think. I think any of them could be possible. All of the players in this case are so messed up from drugs, lack of education, drinking, etc. I am not saying this to be mean but it has to be extremely difficult for the authorities to get answers from people whose brains are fried and are not very bright. Poor Haleigh and the environment she was growing up in, was doomed from the start. If Ron knew how Misty was and especially that night, why didn’t he arrange to have his mother watch the kids? Haleigh was his life yet he left her in the care of a girl he didn’t really know well plus knew did drugs, and was coming off of a 3 day binge. That makes no sense to me. I like to try and give Ron the benefit of the doubt since it was his child but he didn’t do much to protect her. I think someone who knew the place came in and took her, Misty too passed out to notice.

My husband and I have been watching the sad story of Haleigh Cummings’ disappearance from the night it broke on the Nancy Grace show, and based on Misty Croslin’s most recent drug related activities, we have a theory about what happened on February 10th, 2009. We believe the made-up beds and her brother’s lack of finding anyone at the trailer at 10:00 PM, (pretty late for a school night, especially for such young children),indicate Misty and the kids were NOT home that evening; however, if they were just out partying with friends, SOMEONE would have spilled the beans by now — either giving into conscience, remorse, or the lure of a thirty-five thousand dollar reward!
… Misty and Ronald were supposedly fighting that evening about, among other things, her desire to babysit for more than just his kids, so we speculate she was wanting to babysit to make some money — probably so that she could score more drugs. Ron put the kabosh on that idea so Misty arranged a drug run after he left — perhaps hundreds of miles away — and took the kids with her, medicating them beforehand so they’d fall asleep in the car and not be awake during her transaction. Problem is, Haleigh had Turner Syndrome and that proved fatal when exposed to whatever drug she was given. Certainly, whomever Misty arranged to deal drugs with that night is not going to come forward since this is their livelihood and they would face a lengthy prison term as well. Perhaps this person helped Misty dispose of Haleigh — again, we feel this could have occured hundreds of miles away — Misty had hours while Ronald was at work and she was just recently busted for making two hundred mile plus drug runs — so this would explain why Haleigh’s body was never found in searches near her home.
Misty’s lie detector results indicate she knows what happened to Haleigh and by whom it happened, but if it was Tommy who helped his sister, surely he would not have offered information to the police that PUT HIM AT THE SCENE of her final known sighting. Again, the simple detail of made-up beds indicate the children and their sitter did not go to sleep in that trailer that night. If they did, it is illogical that Misty would have made the beds back up before the cops arrived, and I have never known a child who could fall asleep and not re-arrange blankets and covers! As a homemaker, I spend between twenty to forty-five minutes every morning making up the beds in my home — and I definitely would not have had the wherewithal to do this in the middle of the night if one of my kids had gone missing! It makes NO SENSE, no matter WHO you are. Think about it!!

P.P.S. — What were Misty’s cell phone habits prior to Haleigh’s disappearence? Was she known to have gone eight hours at a time without using her phone?? Scott Peterson’s typical cell phone habits were contradicted the day he disposed of Laci’s body. Think about it! Turning off your phone for that many hours would be extreme behavior for most young people, who are constantly texting, etc., not to mention that she was engaged in a heated fight with Ron by phone.

Art–Lynn’s pov is very interesting. But if Misty went “radio-silent” with Ron around 8:00pm, did she really turn OFF her phone, or just quit answering Ron’s calls? How else would she be able to get ahold of anyone to help her hide the evidence.
Do we know, for sure, what the differences are between her statement and the physical evidence at the house?

Love your site, I check all the time for updates on Haleigh. I think you do a wonderful job of informing the public on as many aspects of this case as possible. I’m a student in KY – so of course, this really isn’t covered on our news networks. I truly appreciate all of the work that you put into the Haleigh case.
I’ve tried to post to your site before, but they never show up. I would like to hear your opinion of Ron’s involvement. I used to sympathize with Ron, but I just can’t see why he would stay involved with Misty if he believed she knew what happened to his daughter. I mean, how much can he love his children if he’s still willing to be with the person who won’t cooperate to find his little girl?
I think the sex offender cousin and brother Tommy have something to do with this, but I’d like to hear if you have a theory that consistently stays in your mind, or one that makes the most sense to you. You know this case better than anyone, please enlighten me with your opinion. I’d love to hear it. You may have posted it before, but I must have missed it.

She was at home with Haleigh & Jr., like Kathy and Lynn well describe, and gave the child pain killers, which were too much, etc. etc.
Tommy gets involved when Ron asks him to go check on Misty because she won’t answer his calls.
They way Ron fits in, Tommy calls Ron back (does he? cell pings to support this?) and says that everything is fine, she’s just still mad at you, or whatever. That is why R doesn’t follow-up on “what’s going on with my kids” and explains why R is so “relaxed” on his way home from work and stops to buy beer, etc.
And then Misty really does convince Ron that there were kidnappers. But they threatened H.’s life if Misty revealed anything that happened when H was taken. She might not have much schooling but we do know that she is a survivor and a talented actress.
Ron is becoming angrier and angrier as he increasingly suspects that she might be playing him, yet he doesn’t want to mess up in case she is telling the truth. Because of that bit of hope, he still needs to keep Misty (and Tommy?) quiet about that night.

Art, I think Ron does factor in but like everyone else I just can’t say how. I just have a feeling he is involved or knows. I really do not think that Haleigh and Junior went out with Misty that night unless they were drugged before leaving, because the police would have questioned Junior about what went on that night and if he went somewhere. At least I hope they did ask Junior a few questions like what did you do last night, was anyone upset with Haleigh, did you go anywhere after your daddy went to work, or did anyone come over to see Misty. Of course, it will all come down to drugs and it looks like this bunch will do or lie about it all for their drug habit, so very sad for Haleigh!

Some people are strong enough to lie to the police but I doubt misty was strong enough to hang around ron and his family and relatives 24/7 knowing inside she was guilty. I dont think anyone is that strong. Neither ron or his extended family thought misty was guilty. that is good enough for me. They are now saying they suspect her but this is obviously an attempt to mitigate rons guilt re drug dealing. Neves is even claiming ron purposely got himself and misty arrested so police would have leverage over misty.
Seriously, folk, time for us voyeurs to grow up and realize a stranger did it. it will hurt ng’s rating but who cares.

Misty Crolin used admits to using opiates, weed and booze. A combination of those drugs will make one anywhere from less to lucid, to comatose, to dead. Knowing that Croslin was on a binge and sexcapade with Whiteboy Greg, NayNay and others for three days before Haleigh disapears, it seems likely that she wanted to continue her partying.
I don’t think anyone believes Misty actually harmed the child.
So why would she be so reticent to admit what she knows?
It would have to be personally embarrassing in my opinion. Something so shameful that Misty would rather face police harrassment, jail and public censure.
So my theory is that Misty was with friends partying on a potent brew of pills, pot and booze. It’s pretty likely that she was engaged in sexual activity considering her recent record. I suspect that she was either “gang banged” by multiple men, engaged in various sex acts with men AND women, or both while almost completely intoxicated on controlled substances. Haleigh was either taken by her multiple lovers or one of them, but Misty was so unresponsive that she did not know what happened. I’ll asume that all of this transpired relatively early in the evening, so that all was quiet (trailer) by the time Tommy came by. Misty was comatose on the pills and junior was in a deep sleep. Poor Haleigh was long gone by this time.
So Misty probably doesn’t know WHO actually took the child, but she could tell a bit more about the context. The reason she does not is simple: she considers her drug fuelled sexual depravities so beyond the pale of acceptable behavior that she would rather sit in jail.

i dont understand why everyone is harping on misty about the disappearance of Haleigh, do i think she knows something more than she is telling, yes i do but i dont think she is the only one involved and yes they say ronald has an alibi but i am not sure of that either he seems 2 b very street smart and he is covering his butt 2. i dont think they are the innocent victims they are portrayed 2 be (his family) nobody ever talks about his criminal record and how he seems 2 not ever do any time for the crime. IMO i feel that he is controlling and abusive and has something 2 hide himself. if u will do some research you will find some interesting info on the ronald cummings side and i am not sure that their “secret jailhouse videos” are all innocent either..why would grandma tell ronald 2 be careful what he says because there is a snitch in there with him..if you dont have anything 2 hide why does it matter.. what about teresa neves just telling that misty asked her 2 babysit that night because she was tired?? but no one has mentioned that..he knows he is being recorded and he is very careful as 2 what he is saying..unlike the croslins they just yack and yack so dont u think that it is odd she hasnt told anyone anything because she cant stop talking as it is..so WHO is she protecting???? Is she afraid 2 tell or does she know anything ..i dont think she knows anything about who took Haleigh but i do believe she knows something and i think ronald does 2..drug related probably so but why just Haleigh why not Jr why was he left behind???? was it because she was a beautiful LITTLE GIRL..so does the man in black with squeaky shoes play a part??? so many questions but i think others should be watched very careful and someone should read between the lines its not all about what misty does or does not know!!! New docs released today about Caylee. Not trying to switch topics but am amazed that all this time and it’s just now coming out about a knife found in her car. I have a feeling there is much more discovery not released yet. After hearing this it gives me hope that LE has much more info/intel on the Haleigh case than we have heard about.I certainly do not mind not knowing it if it helps the case. I always felt Misty was acting like a “copycat” of Casey A. to an extent.
I did something at least i found interesting the other night and almost posted it as a question to other posters here but i didn’t want it to look like i was trying to moderate the site. I listed all the names of people connected to the Haleigh case and then went back and counted how many i really believed had knowledge of what happened that night. I listed 13 names, i came up with 3, possibly 4 that i thought definitely knows, and that might be on the low side. It’s an interesting “test” because it helps you focus on each person individually and what role you really believe they play, if any.

This is a sad story about this tiny angel who never had a chance with Ron as a dad and his underage druggy girlfriends.
He and his family are at fault because any human with a heart would not allow this to happen to a child.
Ronald is an over bearing woman beater controler of these young girls. His mother and grandmother are at fault for not stopping him years ago hes been in and out of trouble for years. His mother must know someone or he would be in jail years ago.
I feel sorry for Missy BECAUSE she herself needed in the care of a foster home along with her brothers.
She feared Ron as did the other underage girls in his life.
She needs help and prison maybe the answer where she can become educated and help other girls never to allow themself to get in with Ron’s type.
The children’s services lets these tiny angels down by allowing them to stay in homes where drugs etc is going on.
Nancy Grace makes me SICK missy is a victim as well as JR and poor tiny Haleigh. RONALD CUMMING IS NO GOOD.

Well, number one is the closest to the truth..I think…I have narrowed this down to 2 people..I think either Tommy took her and did who knows what with her, or, I think biological mama had her kidnapped…Crystal has been much too quite and way too far out of the public eye..I tried to find anything on her..Where was she when Haleigh disappeared? Why is she hopping all over the country now? Could she be biding her time, waiting for the media to pull away before going to where her daughter is being hidden? She has never shown too much anxiety over Haleigh being missing…I’m not convinced that she is innocent…So, I say that it is either Tommy or Crystal..I believe that Misty has nothing to say, because she truly has no idea what happened! They need to bring Crystal back into this, and pump much more out of her..It is between her and Tommy….Sad thing is, Ron is a double loser in this…He not only loses his daughter, now he has lost his life…And, of all the people that are involved in this case, ronald is the only one that was holding a job, and anyone can see that he truly loved his little girl…He’s getting a raw deal…and perhaps Misty is too!

Hi Art, #2 fits for me. I have read all the comments re. Tommy. I agree that he is a petty thief, and a dope head. But he is also a father with 3 children of his own. In watching the jailhouse videos, it is apparent that he loves his children, I do not believe he would hurt a child or even participate in the disposal of the remains.
On the other hand, Misty could well have taken the children in tow to a party, gave them meds so they would sleep in the van while she was inside partying, and yes Haleigh was overdosed and probably died in the Van while Misty was inside partying.
Please think back to the 911 call Misty made. She claimed to have just woke up like 15 minutes before Ronald returned from work. Note this is after a 3 day drug benge. There was nothing on that 911 call that would support Misty being half asleep, or had just woken from this long sleep where she was so knocked out that she didn’t hear her brother knock on the door. I don’t buy it.
I think it is more likely that Misty had the kids in tow, an accidental overdose occurred and then her party buddies help her dispose of little haleigh in an aligator lake.
End of story, Little Haleigh never had a chance!!

I was reading some old articles tonight and came acroos the one about Rons mom taking Cobra in the woods to the underground hog pen. I really hate thinking this and asking but did the police check the hog pen? Like I said I hate this but hogs will eat anything. Maybe she wondered off or the adults responsible knew that pen was there and well you can see were I’m going.

Sorry to be so chatty about all this but my mind won’t stop. It really doesn’t make sense to me that Misty could come up with a story about kidnappers who won’t let us talk to keep Ron at bay.
So here’s a new idea. What Ron and Misty fought about on the phone was some “errand” that Ron wanted her to run. She was tired and didn’t want to do it. So when Tommy goes to the house and finds out that Misty isn’t there, Ron is glad, not upset! That’s why he comes home with beer and cigarettes for both of them (at least that is what I read somewhere).
All the other scenarios can be woven into this one— the kids were with Misty and Haleigh did overdose, perhaps at Ron’s suggestion to get the errand done, and then maybe whoever Misty was paying a visit to helped her out regarding, “now what do I do?”; the kids were left at home and that’s when Haleigh was taken in a family abduction orchestrated by someone in her mother’s family and Ron knows that but he doesn’t want it to get out that Misty was gone and he didn’t do anything about it, much less had something to do with it; other scenarios as well.

With the many problems the Croslin family has, it strikes a note that they need help for god’s sake. Can you imagine how it would feel to have “NOTHING”….and nothing to offer your children who are in trouble. No job, no money, no car, no place to live and on and on. To be exploited for their lack of education, their extensive use of profanity on national tv……their jailhouse tapes run over and over for “all” to see and hear. No where to go, no place to turn.

Did Tommy call him back??? Did Ron call his Mom from work that night??? Do they know who all Misty Called??? I went over that tape of Misty ( W/ her Mom), her crying when she said she covered Haleigh up, I got the feeling Haleigh had passed away. I feel Misty had rehursed all of the evening, and there is no way she could have slept with her fear of Ron and his family.. There is no way all of them do not know what happened…. NO WAY! I was so trying to call in to Nancy but I guess I will let you all know what I think my theory is:
First of all I believe a criminal always comes back to the crime scene and the criminal I think is involved may not be Misty, I think what happened was Misty was passed out cold from taking Oxycodone and the kids were sleeping but Misty didn’t lock the door, now first of all only someone who has been in that house can know that the screen doors slams, so here it is: the undercover Perv. Brother Hank comes over, the door unlocked and Misty passed out, see’s Haleigh sleeping and decides to go on with doing something to the little child and not selling her cause he is too stupid, he puts his sweathood up and carries out Haleigh and at the same time Jr. see’s only a man in a black hoodie and says it was a black man because it was dark. Hank has been involved since day one and I think they need to look into everywhere he has been and check out any clothing for dna in his whole house, because I keep rethinking this over and over and the criminal is back at the scene too many times and thinks he is getting away with things even in jail with drug charges he is arrogant. Please if anyone is reading this pass this theory on.

First of all the dogs the picked up the scents at the trailer were bloodhounds and not cadaver dogs. I doubt very much that Ron drugged Haleigh to sleep before he went to work when her bedtime is 8:00pm. What does fit is that Misty (with or without Ron’s consent) drugged her at her bedtime. The last time she speaks with Ron is 8:30 and then she turns off her phone. This could be because Ron told her to turn it off. Everyone knows they can be tracked since we had the CMA case. But Misty does not strike me as being so very controlled by Ron Cummmings. I think Misty is very in love with Ron Cummings. But, she had an affair and she does seem to have a side of her that stands up to him. Ron would be taking a HUGE risk if he killed Haleigh in telling so many some of the things that he has said. Such as Misty never slept in the bed, never did the laundry, the bitch had something to do with Haleigh going missing, keeping his friends close and enemy closer. His family I think has simply taken this long to accept or be convinced by law enforcement that Misty did have something to do with this.
I think it was hard for them to accept because since they left Misty in charge of the children it make them partially responsible. But I think they really wanted to think she had nothing to do with this and\or were hoping to keep her in Florida and to find out what they could about what happened. If they came out straight away and pointed at Misty she would have left as her dad says on the Jailhouse tapes. He told her to leave. Misty says but Ron got her to stay. I read that John Merchant told Ron Cummings if Misty left the state they lost the best chance of finding Haleigh.
Another interesting fact is that the person that introduced the undercover agent to Misty is “Ron’s best Friend” according to Misty and her dad.
I see that Marie Griffis on her My Space is now posting links to videos on u tube about what a liar GM Skyes is.
I find Gm Skyes to be very candid and honest. While I find that Marie Griffis should not be pointing fingers at others as liars when clearly she has done her fair share of lying.
Honestly, if LE did not keep saying Misty has the key, Marie Griffis would be so suspect to me. I would investigate anyone and everyone that she could have had sit by that home and wait for Misty to leave. Everything she has done is so full of hate and revenge and these are the number one reasons children are taken in custody battles.
Haleigh it seems was never as important to her as being nasty and vindictive to the entire Cummings family including the great grandmother. I think about this poor child Junior and boy is he going to be messed up living in a enviornment of such hate.
Yes, we have learned that Ron Cummings and Misty do drugs.
But Crystal just failed her share of drugs tests and refused to be retested. Yet when Haleigh went missing all Marie and Crystal did was talk about the drug use of Cummings and Croslin. When Crystal was on drugs the entire time. Maybe there is hope. Maybe Misty left. I remember Chad Griffis said the kids never wanted to go home. I read that in his family a child was kept hidden in a custody battle from law enforcement for two years. Plus Crystal just got her order to pay $12,000 in child support and it bothered her because she had a seizure over it. What if Haleigh told Marie, Chad or Crystal what was going on in that home. That Misty left them alone? Marie had contacted someone because she felt that Haleigh was being sexually abused. Of course when that person told her that she did not think Ron Cummings would be an abuser in that sense Marie did not want to go to LE with that. I find that odd.
But that would be a good reason to take one child and not the other. Because if she were to get caught she could use that as a defense. So, what if they knew Misty was leaving the children alone and-or they planned this with Haleigh (who according to chad never wanted to go home) and when Misty went to bed or went out…….Haleigh opened the front door for someone who staged this and left.

I would like to know more about the “cousin sex offender”. Most sex offenders, if they re-offend, stick with the same MO, gender and age of victim(s). How old is this cousin, was he a teenager when he offended? How old was he when he offended? Was his victim a child, or a teenager? There are thousands of sex offenders that were convicted for having a sexual relationship with a young teenager, 13, 14, 15, years of age, and the offender was 17, 18, or 19 years of age, excluding a three year affirmative defense to prosecution, as many States have. The laws are clear, that this falls under sexual assault of a child, but it does differ then a child victim, and the likely hood that the offender will or will not re-offend. I am just curious about this cousin offender and theory. My theory has always and continues to be, follow the oxycontin trail and this will lead to Haleigh’s whereabouts, theory #4. And, in a thug group, like Ron and Misty associated with, a “party” could consist of 2-3 people sitting around high on prescription drugs. Not as NG discusses as a party, that a large group would have talked by now. It is very plausible that a small party of 2-5 people would keep their mouths shut about the accidental overdose of a five year old child. After all, their freedom depends on them keeping their mouths shut!! Or, at least it did before the recent felony trafficking arrest. Do we expect that this thug group has ethics or morals?? Ron and Misty got married shortly after Haleigh’s disappearance, this reflects where there priorities lie, where there ethics and morals lie!!! However, in the undercover videotapes, where she’s riding shotgun as the alleged ringleader who plead not guilty today in Putnam County to her eight trafficking charges, and goes back to court on March 8…Ronald is helping her wheel and deal on three of them, and she calls him “baby,” and tells the undercover cop she has no idea why they got divorced. Sure do seem unusually cozy working on what Ronald Cummings calls his “retirement” plan. art

ROXY–Lisa was arrested this morning coming out of court where she was watching Misty plead not guilty…on a charge she stole a purse at Walmart over Christmas…yet another in a series of family issues. But she did bond out quickly. She’s also driving a nice used Taurus, tan, purchased by bounty hunter Leonard Padilla for the family, and talking on a new phone with at least $100 worth of minutes. -On the new jail tapes released today, from Feb. 9 visits, Lisa is taking orders from Misty to get her bonded out no matter what. Hi Art,
Love you and Nancy and watch you all the time!! Here’s my theory: Misty was exhausted from her 3 day party binge. She was desperate for sleep begging Teresa Neves to look after the kids even offering to pay her. For whatever reason Teresa wouldn’t or couldn’t. Ronald felt guilty about Misty watching the kids since they had been fighting and he had kicked Misty out. They agreed to administer the drug Oxyconton to Haleigh thinking it would put her to sleep but the dose was enough to kill her and proved fatal. The cell phone pings show the three of them were attempting to contact each other which tells me they were concocting a plan on how to dispose of poor little Haleigh’s body. The trailer was dark so they would not draw any attention to it since they deal drugs they didn’t want to risk someone unexpectedly dropping by. Tommy went to the front door to knock in the event the neighbors were watching and then proceeded to go to the back door to scope out his options on how to remove Haleigh’s body without being seen. I believe because the trailer was dark it also made it more convenient for Tommy and Misty to communicate either through an open door or window whereby Tommy provided the instructions they would follow to remove Haleigh. Tommy left the residence went home and dressed himself in black to minimize the chances of being seen. He then went out searching for a place to dispose of the body which I believe to have been in a pond or swamp. Meanwhile, Misty was in the trailer waiting for his return as Haleigh lay deceased. In the early morning hours when they felt confident the neighbors were asleep and they would not be seen Tommy returned to remove Haleigh from the trailer. I believe they disposed of her body in a pond or a swamp using a cinder block to weigh down the body so it would not come to the surface or be washed up on shore. Misty alleges there were more than one of these cinder blocks around the trailer in the early days of the investigation. Tommy then returned to the trailer to set up the crime scene. Turned on the kitchen light, propped the door open etc. It was not coincidental that Ronald was coming up the driveway as Misty was preparing to call him. It was planned that way because Ronald is also implicated in Haleigh’s death and they planned for him to be there when Misty called 911 because she was too afraid to go through it alone. I believe that the man in black with the squishy shoes that little Junior claims to have witnessed taking Haleigh was Tommy Croslin. I think his shoes were squishy when little Junior saw him leave with Haleigh because during the time in which he placed himself at the trailer and then later came back to remove Haleigh he had most likely been out scoping a body of water in which to dispose of Haleigh. I don’t think he would have chosen one nearby. He most likely chose one far enough away to remove them from suspicion. I think the entire family including the parents on both sides Cummings and Croslin are responsible for obtaining prescriptions from the doctor for Oxyconton. I think it’s a family owned and operated business. They all know the truth about Haleigh but because they are all implicated with the drugs they are protecting each other. Thanks for all you do Art

However, police have ruled out the Sheffields as suspects; as far as Crystal’s drug problems, we now know it’s ongoing, and I’m told that was the issue at today’s meeting with child welfare in Putnam, attended by Marie Griffis, Teresa Neves and Crystal…over the fate of Jr…

You make a very good point for praying for everyone here..and you are right, it’s not possible to interact with this family as I have and feel an overall sadness…but also a creepy feeling that she does know somthing, as LE believes, that just might unlock the case. And a much greater sadness for Haleigh; it is tough to even contemplate her suffering…so I urge you to sink into the latest jail visit tapes and undercover video of the drug buys and see if you feel the same empathy afterwards…Much of mine evaporated if I heard her right, dangling a tidbit that she may have overheard about Haliegh, whether in a dream or reality…to entice Leonard Padilla to spring her from the slammer for 1.35 million, which won’t happen unless she dishes before he bails.

Not Ron, but unclear what drugs he may have left around or shared with Misty and others got into Haleigh’s system…toss in parties, Misty’s 3 day binge leading up to that night, and what would likely be a jonesing for something to take the edge off, well, what do you think? If I had the chance, I would turn down the lights, get everyone close, light some candles, and speak very softly, and when someone spoke out of turn…like that black lady on her cell pony at some ‘party event’…how rude…I’d turn like a kitten and bear me some claws…and get that camera man to lead his cable wire…and get some bouncer to carry her off.

First- Art and everyone my apollogies for reposting this yet again. So many stories cannot keep up on which is current. So here are my thoughts again:
As I just posted…Ron notified Misty of Donna being undercover in fear of trafficking charges. Not knowing what she was about= fear of being locked up. To prevent her selling anything to Donna.
Tommy and his dad were talking. Tommy basically says tell her to not lie on other people (point the finger) When he said this his face says it all. His eyes kind of wonder.
LE definitely is watching the cousins movements as well. As much as we would like to jail those who may have involvement. We cannot without a witness statement or some kind of proof.
Once I held hopes for finding Haleigh alive. My hope is gone.
I will say my hopes to get Misty and Tommy behind bars- well recent events says it all.

I do not believe anyone should bail them out. Snakeman must mean Cobra. Misty needs to realize she is not out at the ritz. She is in jail. They do not have all the hospitality accommadations . Deal with it!!
Art is there a confirmed work schedule for Ronald Cumming? Other than his lawyers stating he had to be to work at 5pm. This is odd to me because then his hours to 3am would not have been voluntary.

A) alibi B) Had he not arrived home when she was standing in the door way this would not have been reported until approx. 5 hours later- school time? He was the one to call 911…Misty was still trying to figure out the number to call. C) He worked 3 hours over that night- he would have called earlier had he have known.

My theory Tommy & Misty are at fault, call me crazy but I do not think she directly harmed Haleigh (physical force or drugs) Accessory, yes.
Still leaning towards retaliation. Now that the drug dealing is out in the open. Who is druggie a who would go to all extremes to get drugs?
A twist to my theory;
What if Ron owed Tommy money or pills. When Ron was looking for Misty from her not answering her calls he called Tommy to go by there to check. We know Tommy had access to the door that day easily could have been unlocked. He had left the house at 5:30’sh. Ms. Sykes left at 7:30.
I am thinking when he went by at 10pm one of three things.
1. Something had already happened to Haleigh.
2. He helped himself in. He was strung out looking for the next fix and when he couldnt find anything he went into rage. Haleigh was still up watching tv and became victim.
3. Misty convinced her family Ron made her lose a baby…in a sick mind an eye for an eye.

I forgot to mention Ron could have been dealing to Tommy or Misty, Ron and Tommy were together dealing then and Ron’s house was where they kept the stash. Leaving Tommy to have the urge to get into the house.
I have never been a druggie. However, I was a smoker and to quit smoking is very tough because it is an addiction. Just think about an addicts actions. (not that any of us could even pretend to be in the minds of these people) We can make an honest effort.

I believe Ron has gone back and forth with the issue. I do not know about anyone else but personally depending on who is telling the story at the time I can sway either side. I know we all think Misty holds the key as to what happened that night, but I think Crystal S holds the key as to where Haleigh’s body is hidden. She was married to Ronald, and knows where he liked to spend time. Did he have a favorite place in the woods, or did he hide drugs in certain areas? How about a well on his gramdmother’s property, or a certain place that he played as a kid. Just like Casey Anthoney, I think the body will be in a place he felt was safe and peaceful. If he had help in hiding the body, it was a close relative. I wouldn’t look much further than his mother’s or grandmother’s property. I still think the cuts on his hand indicates he was in the woods that night. No way do I believe it’s the results of hitting the wall.

Art, again I want to thank you for all you do and your up dates. The other day I read a comment about what a (doting) father Ronald was and I cringed, because you buy your kids all these material things, birthday parties etc. dosen’t make you a responsible parent! Making sure you keep them out of harms way. Saving money for college, not spending every penny on dope, boose,and cigaretes! If you need a baby sitter not choosing a girl you enjoy sex partying and dope with to trust your precious childrens care. You can love your kids and still be a bad parent, and what I find so alarming is that both families a clueless! God help our children these days. And shame on clild services and neighbors who turn there heads. I am a grandmother my self and I would certainly step in if my daughter was this irresponsible. Theresa Neves should stepped up instead of turning her head, I think that is why she is feeling so bad, she has to share the blame. What a heartbreaking situation. We must keep praying someone will finally tell the truth. God Bless Little Haleigh and the hundreds like her in our culture!!!

Could you please explain how the Sheffield/Griffis clan can really be ruled out? It is hard to imagine that Crystal herself organized anything but easy to imagine that someone else in the extended family set something in motion.
Browser, I am very interested in what you know and how you know it about Chad Griffis and his family keeping a child hidden from LE for two years. I think that it is still entirely possible that Haleigh is “on a farm being home schooled.” Nobody in the extended family knows details, some just receive occasional notice that she is okay.
It would practically impossible for LE, or anyone, to find her, though. I can imagine a well-organized, distributed network of people, none of whom know everything. Each person involved only knows and participates in a bit. Hard to pull off but not impossible, I would think.

After hearing the tapes of Misty and her Mom, and her desperation to get out of jail, I think she will tell Padilla valuable information..This is the first time I have heard her sounding so antsy to get out of jail..A couple of times her Mom told her, “you have to be honest with Padilla”..Misty knows he won’t help her if she tells him trivial nonsense..Misty also threatens getting a new attorney, which may be a good thing. Either way, I predict Misty will be out of jail soon, but probably not before her March 8th hearing.. What she tells Padilla may not lead to the direct location of Haleigh, but it will be start in finding the guilty party.. I hope she will not accuse an innocent person/s in exchange for her freedom, and I hope Padilla doesn’t fall for just anything she tells him..I doubt he will..

#13, Diane, really hit a few nail heads. It’s hard to look under beds that are mattresses on the floor. I think Ronald is scum. I think he is a control freak and very mean to his girls. Why would he treat his daughter any differently. But, someone had a point, I saw it at the beginning. Misty wasn’t too afraid of him or she wouldn’t have come back after a 3 day binge. If she is the enemy he was keeping close, he is even more stupid than even I thought. She is probably the first one that could hold her own with him. My husband said at the beginning someone overdosed the child and fed her to the gators.

As usual, great reading all the new posts here. I watched NG tonight but most of it was covering Tiger. I did catch the tapes. What do you think about L. Padilla getting so involved? He buys the Croslins a car, probably helped them get a house, phone/minutes, probably bailed Lisa C. out today too. She stole a purse at Walmart? Dumb as a ROCK. I know he thinks he can get Misty to tell something about how to find Haleigh but do you think that can work and is it worth trying? He tried the same with CA as we know and she didn’t tell anything. I don’t like that he is giving Lisa and Hank so much help, these people are around 40 and neither one of them are capable of working? If it works, great, but it sounds like her lawyer is going to block his plans. I will give him credit though for getting her to say she will tell him something concerning Haleigh if he bonds her out. Is it true people who get bonded out have to have collateral equal to the value of the bond amount? He seems to be giving them a lot of “gifts” lately. As for the drug deal in the car, need to see it again, i always watch twice in case i missed anything but CLEARLY Ronald wanted to make sure the drugs were in Misty’s possession. “The bag is too big, i’m putting them in your purse”. Misty actually talked about hoping it wasn’t an UC person they were selling to..unbelievable! At one point it seemed Misty was looking right into the camera so my guess is it was attached to the rear view mirror. The camera was inside the car since there was both A/V so how did LE put it in the car with nobody knowing it, or did RC know it was there? Just wondering. NG says it’s a cop car so how did Misty and Ron end up with it? Just a tad confused on how they set that up but maybe that’s a question best not asked?

Oh wow. Just saw the last 5 minutes of the NG show. The first time it’s on here, the last 10 minutes are replaced by a Comcast thing (local). It’s amazing what one can miss in a matter of minutes. I wondered where people heard RC say something about retirement, now i know. That was some drug bust!Good timing, on the day they pled not guilty.

okay, so….at first, when Tommy admitted to being at the trailor i thought “aha, he did it!” but not so much anymore. i don’t think he would have put himself there at all if he was guilty. i think, maybe, he did go in and steal some sh*t (maybe that’s why the screen was propped open) but i think Misty was not there. which leads me to believe she was possibly out disposing of the poor baby’s body (which would also be cooberated by her “washing the blanket”…maybe excrement from a body). looking back at her interview w/ her mom and her 911 call–she is simply not destressed enough. if i awoke and my boyfriend’s child was gone, i would be totally panicked!! seriously…especially if he’s violent. she was not panicked at all. and the way she cried in that interview after talking about how she would take care of Haleigh, does now actually lead me to believe she was crying because she had done something to the baby. and she got her story together for when Ronald came home. and the things Ron says on the 911 call. i believe this is his reaction to Misty’s “story” of Haleigh disappearing. he’s feeling guilty, thinking it’s because of a drug debt, etc and feels it’s all his fault. he stays with Misty because he hopes his child is alive and Misty can help maybe (but doesn’t believe she did it)
*and a sidebar…my ex is an oxy/heroin addict who has done LOTS of crime and been sent to jail too many times to count. and he’s NEVER done time. so, it doesn’t necessarily mean RC is “connected” somehow. repeat offenders appear hopeless to the court system, so often they just get let go as unrehabilitative (word?)*

Everyone seems to blame Misty. I’m not saying she is innocent, but look at Ron. What parent would allow a drugged out kid to watch their children. Teresa Neves and grandma Sikes are just as guilty. Misty told them she was too screwed up to watch them. Then they wanted to pay her. Seems to me they, of all people, should have known that she was unable to watch these children. What were they doing that was so important that one of them couldn’t babysit. I have three grandchildren and I would die before I allowed this to happen. I’m really tired of Nancy Grace sucking up to Ron. I’ve known men like him. He won’t get a woman because he can manipulate a girl much better. His mother and grandmother have always enabled him, and he can do no wrong in their eyes. Whether he knows anything about Haleigh or not, he’s a scumbag. He and Teresa Neves can “Miss Nancy” all they want. They don’t fool me. They are to blame as well as Misty. You don’t put your children in harm’s way. If you don’t have a decent babysitter, stay your ass at home and do it yourself. I know I’ve just rambled on, but no one should have to tell a parent or grandparent this.

I am beginning to think that Misty may be correct when she states that she doesn’t know anything. I wonder if Haleigh may have been targeted and Misty (and perhaps both children) ended up being dosed with rohypnol, which is why she is amnestic and Junior has only a very fuzzy dreamlike recollection of someone in the home.
I think Misty may have failed the lie detector test not because she had anything to do with the actual physical disappearance of Haleigh, but that it was her actions that makes her culpable for putting the wheels in motion that caused it.
I believe it all comes down to Misty because of her irresponsibility, and washes onto Ron because of his amazing lack of protection and insight into the safety of his children, leaving them in the care of an adolescent who he knew was a party girl and a drug user. However, I am really beginning to think that Misty does not know, nor will she ever remember the events that took place in the disappearance of that poor child.

I honestly don’t get why they keep questioning Misty and Ron and Misty’s mother about Haleigh. Do they really think that any of them would be SMART enough to do or even know anything that happened? Or even if they did do something to them, that they’d even be able to hide her well enough that a year would go by and she still hasn’t been found? Obviously in the tapes their all total air heads!

Here’s another theory I have. I think that while Ron was at work, Misty was having a party at the trailer with her and her also drug obsessed friends. Haleigh and the little boy were probably left not tucked into the bed and left with nothing to do but observe the party. Haleigh must have accidentaly gotten into Misty’s drugs and overdosed. When Misty realized the drugs had killed the little girl, she probably freaked out and threw her body in the ocean, returning before Ronald came back. There. Case solved.

Why is bounty hunter Leonard Padilla so insisting on his efforts to undermine LE? Sounds to me like Misty is on the verge of cracking! Art, can you talk some sense into this idiot before he ruins the efforts of LE? I am sure he has great respect for you, as do I. Padilla does not care what the general public thinks of him, he jokes about this. Haleigh is not a joke, she needs to be found and placed with proper loving parents or laid to rest in peace!
Another question: Are the Feds still involved? We hear info from Putnam LE but not Feds.
Last Question: Early in the case a comment was made about alligators inhabitation in the area of the Cummings trailer home. Is it possible Haleigh was dumped in one of the ponds after ingesting pills (accidentally or otherwise), and God forbid…consumed by the alligators? If so, do they consume everything? Would any traces be left? Sorry for the stupidity of this question, but I live in Maryland and I am not very knowledgeable on “lifestyles of the alligators”.

Misty was totally “out of it” with Haleigh given some sort of sedative drug so that she wouldn’t bother Misty’s sleep. Misty wakes up to go the the bathroom and finds Haleigh unresponsive, and calls for help while fabricating a kidnap story. She rationalizes her lies by telling herself she “didn’t mean to do it”. That’s what it looks like to me. That’s Misty’s style.
Now the question is, who came to Misty’s assistance. She could not have gotten rid of a body so efficiently. I am sure someone helped her.

If Haleigh had grown up she would have been so scarred and likely have become ‘emotionally detached,’ too. In fact, entirely possible she already was and that was ‘her condition,’ at least ‘in part.’ But kids have miraculous healing powers.
I would like to be wrong.
Nancy reminds me of an ice skater, she makes ‘it’ (what she has done and does now) look ‘pretty’ easy.
Disciplinarians and task masters, make a mighty fine ‘pair’ (reminds me of twins).
Anyway…everything matters and all is important and nice to have some direction home.
Wish I were more faithful or really just more confident and less ’sensitive.’

I will have to admit I am glad to see Leonard try to get the parents off the street and some transportation even if he does have an ulterior motive. Misty is going to have some trust issues when she grows up along with many other issues. hope she can get some couseling.

Talk about ‘players’ in denial…and check-book journalism and Tiger and his good wife…and guess I’m the only one that believes he’s telling ‘the half-way’ truth when he lies thru his pretty teeth.

I can’t help but think this was a drug deal gone wrong. My opinion only but I wonder if Misty was out that night buying pills and when she couldn’t come up with the money the dealer snatched Haleigh as ransom. Or maybe she wound up dead somehow in the midst of the transaction. Also possible that she was left home alone and wandered outside to try and find Misty.
Another reported fact has me confused. Why did Tommy steal towels from Ron’s trailer? Were they used to clean up a mess then removed from the home afterwards? Could Tommy have entered the trailer and found Haleigh there alone, done something to her, and then removed her small, lifeless body? Was he the man in black? When Jr saw someone come into the bedroom, did he ever mention whether Misty was actually in the room at the time?
Misty’s not talking because she’s afraid she’ll lose Ron. No other reason. She can’t admit to HIM that she did something that horrendous. She doesn’t give two hoots what the rest of the world thinks of her, she’s his puppet and she can’t afford to anger him or cause him to alienate her. She’s too dependent on him and is just too worried her Prince Charming won’t love her anymore.
I’d love love love to find out that Ron is an undercover narc agent, he certainly fits the mold. I somehow don’t think he’s as ignorant as he portrays himself to be. How else was he released from jail with every past arrest? How else can the police be so sure he was at work all night and didn’t leave to go home until his shift was over? To me that would just be the icing on the cake.

Leonard Padilla actually said tonight on Levi Page’s show, in response to my question what would be better for Misty legally, that she should listen to her lawyer–because anything she gave Padilla would be worthless in bargaining for a lesser sentence in her related cases, where if she knew anything that could help cops solve the Haleigh case, it could give her lawyer leverage to cut her a deal.
Feds are involved, on call if not on the ground. Oh, and your question is not at all stupid…gators are there and that’s certainly possible. There is an unconfirmed rumor a gator with a swollen belly was in the yard of Ronald’s aunt, but no one called LE. I had to mention it because it’s almost too good to check, like so many things that turn out to be bogus…but LE did send divers into the nearby ponds and rivers to inspect alligators for recent meals and found none…art

Hi. I had a feeling Padilla was “fattening” up the Croslin’s assets in hopes of gaining their trust, it would only take mom or dad to convince Misty to talk to Padilla.I know it’s not the strategy LE wanted but it may have actually worked. When her lawyer says don’t talk to him (for obvious reasons), it kind of says he thinks LP could have gotten her to talk. Here’s my question: How does a defense attorney sleep at night knowing they are helping someone hide information about a missing child? If he believes she is innocent why would he be so worried about what she might tell Padilla? I think it’s best she stays in jail but was thinking Padilla’s method might have worked. Buy mom and dad a car and a phone and he could get them to do anything because they are both too d*** lazy to get a JOB. I’m feeling a little edgy after a long hard night at work wondering if either of the Croslin’s even know what a hard day at work feels like.

Are tere any “Gator swamps” in Satsuma? After all this time I think thats the only scenario that figures at this juncture. I’m beginning to think that Misty really doesn’t remember, or doesn”t want too. If it was a “stranger abduction” there would have been a ransom demand by now so it has to be family connected. LE should check the Cummings family a little closer as well as Timmy and Tommy Croslin. Why not use the “ruse” of giving all the inmates in St. John’s county jail the swine flu shot and when they get to Misty have sodium pentathol(truth serum) in her syringe instead. She’s used to needleing it anyway. Then you’ll know.

I am very familiar with gators.I lived on a lake that had them and I was so facinated with the creature I read books about them.
In any case,sadly I have thought about the fact that Haleigh lived close to an area with easy access to water’s that have gators.
I read on this thread about a bloated gator.Ya see,the thing that has always bothered me is just that.Gators have what are called “dens” under the water.They will take prey there and keep it for weeks sometimes.Not one of the searchers got down there and poked around into the dens.
Why do I know they didn’t poke around? Well,it is just supposition on my part,but there is usually stuff in a gators den and I am sure they would have been screems of “we found something” and it would have been on breaking news as they found a deer etc…
Inspecting the gators is bullshit.Inspect the dens.
It breaks my heart to even write this kind of thing.I just think that if they indeed thought that she was taken to water then they should have done a proper search so her family could have her back sooner,instead of asking gators if they ate recently.

Saw the recent tapes (Mon night), now i see it was the UC driving the car, don’t know why i missed that before. Thought it was RC driving , i guess b/c they never showed a face and i didn’t see all of them. Anyway, Sunday night NG aired tapes from a year ago and something i have been wondering about was verified. Misty made a point of explaining the blankets ( a bit too much detail?). I am thinking that she made it a point to explain taking a blanket off the window insinuating someone could have looked in the room from the uncovered window and saw them sleeping, but she never directly came out and said as much. Think she trying to give the impression a stranger came along, saw an uncovered window, could see them sleeping and somehow got in and took Haleigh? I am thinking that’s exactly what she was getting at because she went into way too much detail about the blankets. I hope NG re-airs those old interviews again for people that missed the show Sunday, it refreshes the memory of what each person said and how they appeared. RC looks like he’s aged 10 years in one year. Crystal S. looked so disconnected but i can’t help but wonder why RC and TN would suspect her as being involved in Haleigh’s disappearance. They said in jail tapes they thought it was either Misty or Crystal.

My theory after watching these people and hearing what and how they spoke that night…and later.
RC hurt Haleigh before leaving for work. She died then or not long after. MC got help disposing of her later…”the blankets were in the van…” so she couldn’t wash them (even if she had detergent). He clocked in to work to establish an alibi, any neighbors who say they saw Haleigh that afternoon after he left are mistaken. If they saw her other days, and after a normal night for them, were asked if they saw her, most people, with few exceptions, would not be able to say exactly. Memories are not reliable for things that happen over and over…that’s why we can’t recall what we had for lunch…to decide “that on a certain day at a certain time” when time has passed before we are asked about a ‘normal, everyday happening.’That evening was ‘normal’ for the neighbors.
As both of them are guilty…and perhaps TC too for helping Misty later, both have a lot to lose if they squeal on the other one.
When RC got home,he already knew Haleigh was dead, or he found out then that whatever he had done resulted in her death and the 911 call was all for show. He sounds like he is reading from a script, and she sounds like she has to have cues from him. His anger at her is fake. His threat to kill “whoever took her”… “You can put it on tape…I don’t care” is pretense at being an upset and caring father.
When they are on Greta shortly after it happened, MC looks to RC…who supposedly didn’t know what happened…before she answers questions and he helps her answer. How could he know if he wasn’t home when things went down?
They were trying…and failing…to keep their stories straight. Liars can’t remember exactly what they say in a lie, so they have to improvise when asked again and again. The truth is always the same, even when the mind fails to recall every detail.
Therefore I believe: RC killed Haleigh, Misty and helper(s) disposed of her little body and the rest of it is them showing their true colors.

There is something about this whole family. What has happened about Ron putting a headless rat in the Croslin’s mailbox 2 days after the burgulary/battery with Misty’s brother, mother & father- August, 2009? That’s crazy… Along, with everything else in this family. What about his other 1 year old son that he doesn’t claim? The Grandma called police to report Ron & Misty driving through her apartment complex parking lot at night in a Ultima car and a man coming to her door knocking. Why hasn’t that been on the news? And where did the cinderblock come from that propped their trailer door open? They didn’t seem to know their yard…. Could it have came from his bridge/job site? There is so much with the family, drugs, abuse & sex. Whoever, or how many will indeed suffer someday.

Well, a double dose of Castoria (sp?) once-upon-a-time killed an infant with Jaudice (sp?)…
Would have been nice to have had a brown-eyed brother, instead of a bunch of blue-eyed blonde ones.
Yet, that ‘outcome’ neither, twas not ‘intentional,’ just an un-fortunate ‘mistake.’
Hard to fathom the pain, yet now ‘I’ know why ’she’ seemed to ‘me’…to, cry all the time.
So, totally different these ’set of circumstances’ yet somewhat ‘relative’ … as to mist.
If she could back-hand a child, she could probably did do more…yet her conscience.
If only, if she truly knew what having a child of her own was like and how it’s not about ‘you’ no more.
Just sacrifice.

…and I enjoyed watching almost a full hour of “Broken Government”…and Cafferty on CNN up against Smith on FOX.
At least I could make ‘an appeal’ to the ‘private sector insurance company’ and did dance thru those ‘loops’ and all it took was typing a letter or 2 or 3 or actually twenty-six.
My ‘record’ of ‘wins’ was close to Nancy’s ‘home runs.’
I’m not looking forward to the ‘takeover’ ’cause I know al-tooele…it’s gonna take more than a letter it’s gonna turn into ‘the forms’ and a dance.
Yet, I guess…everyone will get ‘their vaxi-nations’ and ‘all that pharm’ and replacement ‘body parts’ yet wonder what the ‘new mechanics’ will get paid?

Hey Art; On Feb.9 wasn’t Misty in the middle of her 3 day(as you always say on Nancy Grace)binge of “sex, drugs and rock’roll. It seems to me that would preclude her from picking up Misty from school that day. It was reported on your blog that Misty was picking up Haliegh and encouraged her to hurry up because she (Misty) had just scored “some good shit”. Did you check that out? If Ronald picked her up at school with his mother and took her home as he says, then if Misty wasn’t there then how can she be the last person to see Haliegh alive?And if Misty was there then why did Ronald have to call her 90 times as you report?

Art, excuse my not believing anything that comes out of Nancy Grace’s mouth. However, you are on her show over and over. I would think you would get tired of how she treats her guest. I also thought her show was originally billed as a place to get the facts (true) and also justice. What happen to that format? She does nothing to find missing children except make money off the advertisers (one night I counted 21 before I quit) that advertise on her one hour show. On the other hand people like Mr. Walsh gets off of his hiney and goes searching, does field investigation and does not toot his horn as NG DOES. He does not interject his feelings one way or the other, he simply tells the information that has been collected (not those that NG claims “EXCLUSIVE” “BREAKING NEWS” (when someone else has done the work and it has already been reported – she takes the credit, never listing those who originally got the information and runs with it as though it was through her efforts that she has this so call BREAKING NEWS EXCLUSIVES)
. She is such a liar herself I do not see how she could decide what is justice and what is not.
Also I am so surprised that a man of your investigative skills does not realize that Ron Cummings is in this up to his neck — Right off the bat he screams “Bitch how could you let my baby be stole”. How did he know she was stole? This child has been reported to wander off on another occasion in the middle of the night and fell into a lake and almost drowned. Also NG always screams at other parents and spouses for not getting out there and searching for their missing love ones that are missing, but has not even mentioned the fact that Ronald did not do anything searching, he even quit work to sit around and watch. This is absolutely crazy. But NG still insist that Ronald is this great father who has lost his child by the hands of the branded “babysitter – step mama”. What has happen to the professional and ethical part of a supposed hot ADA (Nancy Grace) and by the way you of all people should know her history as a prosecutor, I note you state 130 cases, she cites 1000s, which she has already been cited by the higher courts for her behavior as a prosecutor, why are you not giving both sides of the story here Art? She has also been accused of stealing other people’s work in her book Objection, and she didn’t learn her lesson then, as she is still taking credit for other people’s work that she claims “exclusive breaking news on”.
With all of this crap coming off of NG’s show and you backing her, seems like this would be obstruction of justice in the greatest form. I really thought you were more professional than that and that as an investigative journalist you were certainly above some of the crap that has come forward. I certainly hope that I am wrong.
Please when you are on the NG SHOW again, please please put some professionalism and ethics that is going out into the homes across America.
Please do not let NG continue to say things that are absolutely incorrect, both legally and morally, without at least disagreeing with her. I know you know how to do this as an investigative journalist.

Does anyone know why Annette Sykes raised Ronald from the age of 3 thru early teens? Where was Teresa Neves during that time and why havent we heard anything about Ronald’s dad? Is he even in the picture? Like all the other ppl that comment here, this blows my mind … Im probably over thinking it (giving too much credit to those in jail)and have to bring myself up to the slogan: “Keep it simple, stupid”! Art, I really appreciate all that you do and watch NG ONLY when I know you are her guest. I am so sick on Nancy Grace and her ratings stunts. First of all….you can watch her show in about 15 minutes if you DVR it because she just repeats the same thing over and over. And the way she talks to the talking heads on there just makes me sick. Why they put up with her garbage is beyond me. And I wish she would quit saying Misty is going to get 123 years in prison. Give me a break!!!! Will she do some time? Yes. But it sure as hell won’t be 100 plus years. I’m thinking maybe 3 to 5. Every single thing out of Grace’s mouth is aimed at one thing…..ratings. And she really needs a new tagline. “Bombshell Tonight” is so pathetic. She says that about things that happened weeks ago…..like it’s breaking news.

hi art as stated early in this case, misty was mad at hailey because she wouldn’t go to sleep.& she called ron @ work he told her to spank her. so maybe misty hurt her or gave her something that killed her.& tommy & cousin joe did come over to steal that gun,& tommy did leave not knowing anything & misty had joe to get rid of the body.

I believe Ron Commings knows more than he has admitted. When they made the 911 call he is heard saying “you let them take my baby, bitch”. How did he know it was them (more than one) I don’t know why he married her, except that she knows something about him that he don’t want her to tell. Tha is just my opinion, but now I have got it off my chest.

When Haleigh first went missing I remember misty said I didn’t do anything to that little girl, I loved that little girl. She was already speaking of her in past tense and she had just gone missing.
