The Bald Truth reports how investigators in the missing child case of Haleigh Cummings are now using her father, Ronald, as a sort of “undercover Dad,” in an attempt to crack his ex wife, Misty Croslin, who he believes holds the key to finding what happened to Haleigh.
As we receive and edit more jail tapes, check the Ronald Cummings’ story for his jail conversations and the Misty Croslin jail tape story for more of her conversations from behind bars.
It’s fascinating to watch as law enforcement uses the jailhouse visits to make what one calls a “slam dunk” case for drug trafficking that could bring Misty Croslin 114 years behind bars for 8 felony counts, and her co defendants still jail terms, too. For the first time, Putnam County Sheriff’s Department investigators have leverage over the ex 17 year old babysitter who reported Haleigh missing a year ago, then married her father a month later.
So far, Misty has said investigators have recorded interviews with her ex husband, and played them for her. Our sources tell us she broke down and wept “real tears” for the first time when she heard him tell his sob story about losing Haleigh, and now losing Junior, and that he loved her and would stand by her. Of course, we now know that investigators gave Cummings the script they thought would push her buttons, and it worked.
One source close to the case said investigators noted that Misty “doesn’t give a shit about her parents, her brother or anyone else in her family. She just wants what they can give her. The only one she seems to care about is Ronald.”
But whether Cummings is really trying to help investigators crack his ex wife is questionable. On the one hand, he plays along, then talks about the psy-ops they’re using him to run no her on taped jail conversations he knows will be aired on television and that her family will hear and report to Misty…Operation heart-string blown, no?
We also remember when he helped bring her in for the Texas Equusearch polygraph she flunked “miserably,” according to Tim Miller, TES founder, presumably eager to help others pry out whatever information she knew about Haleigh.
But when Miller recruited volunteer Donna Brock to play undercover Mama and get close to Misty, it was Ronald who phoned his then wife, in New York with Brock to do CBS Early Show, their marriage on the rocks, to warn her he’d heard Miller detail Brock’s agenda on a local radio show, and to be careful.
We want to know what you think Ronald Cummings is really up to, and whether you believe he really wants to help crack Croslin…

I don’t think for one second Ron wants Misty to tell ANYTHING that happened on the day that Haleigh went missing. Think about it. What kind of a person would just go along defending Misty, when it’s fairly obvious that she knows exactly what happened? I also am of the opinion that Ron’s mother and his grandmother also know what happened.Even if Ron is a big enough idiot to believe Misty, how would you explain his mother just going along with all this nonsense?Another thing that bothers me about this whole mess is the part about Ron’s grandmother supposedly seeing Haliegh around seven when she brought clean clothes over for the kids. Sounds made-up to me. Seems to me if Misty was such a gung-ho housekeeper to be washing a blanket for Haleigh at 10:00 p.m., she would have surely had clean clothes for them to wear.Besides, I just wouldn’t think clean beds would rank very high on the list of priorities for a drug addict!Just my opinion.Thanks for letting me vent.

One thing’s for darn sure, Ron missed ‘that boat’ when it comes down to parenting. Of course, though he had to work, and guess that’s all he needed to do to keep his little girl fed, ‘sheltered,’ and clothed.
So, I get the impression that Misty never, properly developed a conscience?
Give me a while and I’ll come up with the ‘diagnoses’ for that.

This makes no sense. If LE didn’t want to reveal that they had asked Ron C to make certain statements, then why didn’t they redact his comments to his mother in his phone calls? Either LE no longer cares if this information gets out, or there was a mistake in redacting the tape, or LE really wants Misty to hear that Ron is supposedly working with LE to help get Misty to talk. This is the most convoluted mess!

Yet some of them really are just bullies. They’re just people, too. Reminds me of those strong women (and a few good men…that do the ‘heavy lifting’) that turn living breathing ‘old bodies’ in nursing homes so they don’t get bed sores. What a chore that is.

Ron is up to saving his butt..He doesn’t care about Misty, or anyone but himself..He is trying to shorten his time in jail by going along with LE in his “love scheme” with Misty..If she falls for it, she’s dumber than I thought..I am glad two more charges were tacked on to his sentence..I believe he is the ring leader of trafficking drugs. I think once Misty is clean, and realizes how Ron is using her, she may crack. If she cracks it will happen because she truly wants to turn her life to God, as she insinuated in a jail interview..I don’t expect it to happen anytime soon, but I do think it will happen..
Art, I just listened to the Simon Barrett interview with T.J Hart and Staubs…I hope you sue Staubs (Cobra) for slander..He is a wannabe has been…He is jealous of you because you are on NG, and he sits at home stewing..Who would want that angry, hostile person around..I am glad the T.V. media outlets realize what he is, and keeps him off T.V. Art, I have a question then I will give you my thoughts on the questions you posed for us. Has LE checked where Jared Harold was when Hailey disappeared? Have the ones in jail been shown a photo & asked if they had ever seen Harold? He was in Florida.
I still think Misty was asleep or passed out & doesn’t know what happened. She would have cracked or slipped up by now if she knew anything.
Since the cameras first shined on Ronald he has been doing whatever (he believes) makes him look best. He also is doing what he thinks the majority of people want him to do.
I think Ron would still be with Misty if Nancy Grace & many comments on here had not kept asking why he was staying with the last person to see his daughter.
If Ronald believed Misty had harmed Haleigh or knew anything about who had he would have at least attempted to hurt Misty by now, if for no other reason, just to prove he is a big man.
Therefore I don’t think Ron is sure enough of his own convictions to truly be helpful to LE. I think he believed in Misty, but he couldn’t stand up to the pressure of so many others doubting her. It made him look bad to take up for her so he divorced her.
I hope LE has asked everyone who has ever been in a room where Misty was sleeping, how deep a sleeper she is, especially Ronald, as he should know since he lived with her.
From the first recorded words of Ron on the 911 call, he has referred to Haleigh as “stole”, not as missing, disappeared, abducted or whatever. I heard somewhere that he said if he had $35,000 he could get her back.
This sort of talk made me feel Ron had done something to someone that was so bad he immediately thought of them & thought they had stolen his daughter from the first minute he knew Hailey was missing. If LE knows who that person(s) is/are then they know who Ron believes is guilty. He knows it is not Misty.
I still believe the Croslin brother, who went knocking on the door that night, is more likely to hold the key than Misty. I would want to know who he saw in the neighborhood while he was there. I would want to know where he went afterward & who he told he had been to the trailer.
If Misty was known among her friends & family to be a hard to wake sleeper, I would want to talk to everyone who knew she would be home babysitting after she had been partying all weekend.

My impression of Misty’s family is that they are basically lazy and quite poor. They will be supportive with visits, phone calls and commissary money for a while but as time goes on any extra money will dry up for them to send and the visits will be few and far between. After all, they do have two kids in jail. They will just get tired of dealing with it. They simply do not have the money to accept calls from both kids and give them both money.
This is a plus for LE (imo). Misty has been in the “spotlight” for a year and as you said, it’s like a reality show in real time. What happens when the “show” is over in her eyes? She gets her strength from 3 things. Family support, media attention, and LE attention. What if all three dried up? I’m suggesting that LE try an experiment. Once they see the that her family has backed off ( and they will), try to stop ALL media stories on the case for a few weeks, tv and newspapers, dry it all up completely. Have LE stop any efforts to get her to talk, no special treatment, treat her like a number and ignore her. It seems to me this would take away any leverage she thinks she has right now. Give her a few weeks alone, sitting in that cell day after day thinking she has been forgotten about, and thinking about the sentence she’s facing. She hasn’t had the feeling of desperation yet. She hasn’t had time alone to think about Haleigh. I agree with Nancy, we haven’t heard any of these people even come up with a guess as to what happened to Haleigh, there’s something very wrong about that. It’s worth a shot for a few weeks to a month..see what happens. This of course depends on how long it takes her family to run out of money and ambition, i’m thinking that won’t be much longer..IMO. (i’d miss NG covering this story but if this were tried it would be temporary and if it worked it would be well worth it. Misty perked right up when her mom said NG, so even though it was negative toward her, i believe Misty liked the idea that she was being talked about on NG). Just an idea, but i think it’s going to take a drastic change from the norm to get her to break if she is ever going to.

Misty can’t tell if she did leave or what she did because if all she cares about is Ronald, she is afraid she will loose him. Maybe if he told her he could forgive her if she told the truth. The chance remains this was some kind of accident and Misty feared loosing Ron Cummings.
On the other hand Hank Croslin if he acted alone has everything to loose and nothing to gain. How is his wife going to feel if it turns out he killed Haleigh. He went to steal and she woke up. I think Ron Cummings may even suspect Hank Croslin Jr. Remember Hank kept saying he was afraid Ron Cummings would kill him?
Ron Cummings did not know they were going to release the tapes. Remember he said Putnam and Flagler do not let out the tapes? I doubt he would have said that or some other choice things if he knew the tapes came out.
As far as telling Misty to stay away from Donna. Ron probably knows Misty would not tell Donna. He can’t even get Misty to tell him. Probably he warned Misty because he knew about the drugs and he could loose something cause he was selling drugs as well.
The only way I see it possible for Ron Cummings to be involved would be if Misty called him at work and told him what happened to Haleigh. Unless LE is keeping something from the public about his work hours.

Good to know that Nay and those were cleared. Cobra is saying that is what happened and LE did not drain the right pond at the Mondex, he says it is another pond.
Of course Cobra also said that Crystal and some people on that side need to be in jail also if they want to be sure and get all the answers.

Got to meet the Chief of Police in his nightclothes that night, he was just signing some papers…guess he didn’t have time to get properly dressed…actually Lord knows he didn’t care.

Yet I know it’s not all her fault.
If Haleigh were my child, though… I would want revenge or something to give me comfort that would never bring her back to life.

Ronald had a year to get Misty to talk, instead he did the opposite and made sure she didn’t talk. LE is not silly, I am sure they have valid reason for the choices they are making. Give them enough rope and they will eventually hang themselves.

It would drive Misty and Tommy both crazy knowing Ron was out walking the streets while they are locked up.
Especially Misty, she is still in love with Ron and the thought of him outside running around with another woman would just drive her batty.

I think what Nancy Grace said will work…go for the maximum conviction on the drug charges. I agree with Nancy Grace. It is going to take time behind bars. Send Ron & Misty to prison and let them chill behind bars a couple of years or until they are ready to talk. One of them will crack and beg for a plea deal in exchange for information. And most importantly stop all media coverage after their conviction. Ron & Misty think they are celebrities. Show them they are not. Lock them up and let them think they have been forgotten.
Ron & Misty are stubborn. They have been keeping their secret a year already. They have to be shown what can be done by example. Use the other three defendents to prove that to Ron & Misty. Start with Hope Sykes…drop the charge and send her home. Donna Brock…charge her a fine with condition that she have no contact with Misty ever and she will go home.
Then there is Tommy Croslin…he is the one to use. Cut him a really good deal. Reduce his charges and give him probation. Transfer the probation to where ever he and the family move. The Croslins want out of there. They will move out of town as soon as they can. And then wait. If Tommy knows anything he will tell someone when he gets away from the area. If any of the Croslins know anything they will talk when they get out of town. And when Misty is convicted, her family moves away and she is left alone she will break.
I believe HaLeigh died on Feb 9th last year. Some people believe she is alive and we hope that she is. If she is alive when the media coverage and the internet discussion cease if there is someone hiding her they will get careless and she will be found.

The way I understand it, Misty was the babysitter for Ron and Amber RIGHT??? Then she became his girlfriend, and being a child herself, she was molded into what Ron needed…. Another one, she could play house and do anything she wanted as long as Ron approved…. At times he would beat the hell out of her tell her she was nothing but a stupid K—. then would put heavy loves on her and say how he could’t live without her… I have seen many cases like this… Misty has been abused, but cannot see it, and will do what ever it takes to win Ron back… Like she said on the 911 tape ” Oh Ron was’nt calling me a B—-, He was saying that about the 911 operator”. Ron will do what he has to keep misty in this state of mind for as long as he can. I also thing Mama Treasa is runnig this show. She has turned on Misty… How will Misty handle that??? I think that house was Filthy, and Mama T. and family staged it for the walk through… Why did’nt one of them buy laundry soap instead of taking the laundry home to do it? I don’t think it would hurt for LE to start over and give both families lie detector tests wth a new set of questions….

Hi Art,
Am really so glad you have this site since I don’t have my nose up Nancy’s butt anymore.
I want to say you have some really smart folks on this site.
I never went to treatment although in my later sobriety I did work in them and can tell you treatment has a low success rate. I got sober in AA, clean in NA then 12 years ago got even cleaner in Nicotine Anonymous.
Looking at the cast of enablers in the Haliegh case it looks pretty hopeless but miracles do happen.
If Misty ever does get sober and clean she will have a story to tell depending on what she can remember. I like other addicts lost chunks of my memories and men like Ron want their women just like that, they are easier to “handle.”
The fear Misty has for Ron as does Crystal will keep Misty clammed up, separate them. I’ve seen my share of men like Ron with strong mothers and those men are wonderful at manipulation. They also instill a fear in their women that is hard to break, especially if the women are not clean and sober.
There is hope for Misty and Crystal as long as they get away from Ron. As long as they keep him in their lives they will keep digging their graves.
I believe the reason Ron keeps himself in Misty’s life is that she has something on him, his momma and his grandma. Also blackout will keep her from remembering how certain events actually took place and all she can remember is the need to be afraid of Ron and keep her mouth shut.

ART: READ MY LAST POST ABOUT RONALD. THIS IS FRUSTRATING. Isn’t it obvious that LE has set this entire thing up: Purposely having Ron BEING TAPED talking about how LE is using him to bait Misty, SO SHE WILL HEAR IT, resulting in the final goal of Misty being more and more confused, feeling betrayed, and not knowing who to trust. It’s not that hard to figure out. RON ISN’T STUPID. I would bet that anything and everything he has stated and every action he has taken has been dictated by LE, with the intended purpose to divert and confuse, and IT’S WORKING. Is there really any doubt that he would do anything to jeopardize finding HALEIGH? Who knows what his own personal theory is? He’s on the inside, we are on the outside. He’s NOT LYING, HE’S ACTING.

None of this makes any sense whatsoever. Why would Ron keep tipping Misty off? If he is truly innocent and truly still wants to find his daughter he would go along with any plan from LE, Tim Miller, etc. to get information out of Misty and not tip her off. The only explanation I can come up with is that he is partially or fully responsible for Haleigh’s disappearance. But if this is the case then I don’t understand how he passed a lie detector test. Or did he? Has LE officially said that he passed? One of the only theories I can come up with to explain Ron’s weird behavior and his alerting Misty is that maybe he was angry, lost his gosh awful temper and hit Haleigh before he left for work. She passed away later in the night and Misty and/or Tommy hid her body.

Misty has only shown signs of complete innocence and ron has a strong alibi. I think the police know this unless they are severely retarded. Maybe they are trying to piss off the perp who might be resentful of all the celebrity being heaped on Misty.
Nancy Grace is an odious person. Truly odious. She must have been picked on as a child or something. She is insanely controlling. Her children show signs of down syndrome.

I’ve thought more about this and it’s GOT to be the 3rd – LE really wants Misty to hear that Ron is supposedly working with LE to help get her to talk.
This is probably the ONLY way to send Misty into a tailspin so that she will finally talk. Of course, this assumes that she wasn’t so passed out that she actually knows something. But since she has been so devious & inconsistent, it’s likely that she does.

Art, Misty still being in “love” with Ronald Cummings, the message from RC ain’t gonna’ make her tell what they did to/with Haleigh! It will make her keep information quiet in order to not tell on Ron! Misty will continue to believe that Ronald loves her, too; therefore, she won’t tell on Ronnie Baby. Misty is a DRUG MULE and an addict- she needs to stay in jail n get her life together-sad to say it-but that may be the only way-give her 114 years.
My theory is Ronald (mabe) was medicating Haleigh for a while, the new teen girlfriend Misty didnt know how much and over medicated her the way ronald has so many times befor. The night she “vanished”, it has been said Ron was overherd by a co-worker telling Misty to “smack Haleigh if she didnt listen”
mabe he said to medicate her and she died on his oxyz but on mistys watch……..wich is why there is an unmistakable sick loyalty between these two pillbillies.
I think it was rons oxyz and it was done on mistys watch and the secret may never come out unless ronald admits it first.

Good points…go back and read some of my stories and you will see (and comments), we’ve discussed his underage fixation often…and on the undercover tapes, Misty hints that may be one reason they ran to the alter, to help dodge liability on that one. reason LE didn’t want to go after him on that, what they have them both facing now is far more easier to prove than that would be…and when you see the tapes, well, you’ll see it was a wise move.–art
PS–We broke the story of his coworkers overhearing him tell Misty to punish Haleigh when she got out of hand…I’m the only journalist who interviewed the specific worker at PDM, then LE spoke with him I’m told. Pls let me know if you recall reading it anywhere else without attribution…

Now I think that Ron was molesting Haleigh and feared being caught. He told Misty to give Haleigh “something to help her sleep” and then whoops! overdose, cover-up, etc. It explains why Ron came home somewhat relaxed (stopping to pick-up the beer and cigs) and doesn’t look anywhere but in the house before calling 911— he doesn’t even call any other family members.

Art can someone check the water usage the night Haleigh went missing? What about electricity records to see if a lot of electricity was used that night – to prove whether or not she really did laundry as she said. I don’t think she did and that would be a clear lie and enough to implicate her. If she was innocent there would be no reason to make up the story about the soiled blanket. Thank you

I don’t think Misty is smart enough to have pulled this off. Haleigh has been missing over a year. Misty has been interviewed countless times by experienced investigators and detectives and they have NOTHING. I don’t think she is a genius by any stretch. So, we are to believe that this mere slip of a girl is smarter than the entire investigative body pursuing this case, right? She wasn’t even smart enough to figure out what 10% of her bond was.

When a person is in jail and they know there phone calls are being monitored they will play it up so the people that review the digital tapes will believe what they said.Ronald crying on the ground next to his mom was a put on just like the jail conversations dont read into them its just B.S.
Ronald has never been concerned about finding Haleigh and his past actions have more than proved this,A father would have come home and looked around the trailer and ran outside yelling for Haleigh and ran to the neibors house,Ronald never did any of this but on the 911 call he crys and threatens and makes no sense and i believe this was a rehersed 911 call.
Misty was out of it and i think she just had gotten home around the same time as Ronald did these people are a small group of drug addicts with both parents involved and realize that when one person snitches everyone will go down for something and Haleigh was a sacrfice for something much bigger and Ronald and Misty and a few others realize they were all involved in what ever caused Haleigh to die and have chosen to hold out from the truth.
Padilla needs to stop with the funds to Misty and her family he has hurt this case on a high scale,Misty needs to sit there and just be able to make a few calls a week and more will come out of her mouth durning the short calls to her parents, And Padilla sending money to her canteen is another mistake this needs to stop because Misty is being contempt and not craving from hunger and the more relaxed the less angry and desperate she will act.
The Key to this is stoping Padilla from further action helping Misty let this girl act desperate again and she will talk like she did when she snitched her brother for the stolen items in the trailer.
Someone needs to get Padilla to back away im tired of the circus everytime he shows up it seems like Padilla is helping to hurt this case rather than solving it.Now Misty has said a few clues but she needs to sit in there and cry for attention and then she will start talking when the reality hits her of what she is facing and there will be no one there to rescue her,Misty needs to see and learn first hand that those charges against Ronald are Real not just the drugs but other charges and they wont get dropped and then i believe Misty will talk when she fills Ronald can offer no Harm to her or her family.
