As astounding as it sounds, it was 18 year old high school dropout Misty Croslin who turns out to be the alleged mastermind behind the Satsuma gang that couldn’t deal straight, playing right into the hands of a young undercover cop who befriended her and bought enough painkillers to earn her six felony drug trafficking charges, a cell in the St. John’s County, Florida Jail and and possibly decades behind bars if convicted.
“She took the lead,” Putnam County Sheriff spokesman Lt. Johnny Greenwood told www.artharris.com. “She befriended our undercover officer who made seven drug buys; Misty was at all seven,” although she has only so far been charged with six counts.
Ronald Cummings was also charged with selling copious amounts of illegal painkillers (Loritab, Roxycodone, Percocet, Vicodin) to an undercover cop with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department who worked Misty and friends for a month, buying a total of 339 pills worth $3,900, enough to earn them decades behind bars if convicted.
Also arrested and charged with trafficking were three other alleged confederates–Tommy Croslin, Jr., Ronald cousin Hope Sykes and Misty confidante Donna Brock.
As the babysitter who reported five year old Haleigh Cummings missing, then married her father, Ronald, a month later, police say Misty remains the key to cracking the case, and legal experts say her drug bust gives them the crucial leverage they’ve been looking for to pressure her to talk.
She denies she knows what happened to Haleigh, that she was asleep when she vanished last Feb. 10 and woke up to find the little girl gone.
What a difference a year makes. With her bond set at almost one million dollars, Misty looked forlorn, like she was having a bad day in the blue jail jump suit she wore to her first appearance Thursday morning before a circuit judge who asked if she had a lawyer and whether she understood the charges against her.
She said she did, and had a lawyer, who told me he’d advised her not to speak with detectives investigating Haleigh Cummings…at least not just yet.

Am I reading this right? Mr.Greenwood stated before trial on a public forum events that happened and that an 18year old girl lead a group of adults masterminded it. Wheres the gun she held at their heads? Hmmm notice how they once again avoid that big pink elephant in the room. IMO Mr. Greenwood should tell his BS to the 90 year olds gullible enough not to read through his bias power tripping lunacy. IMHO he’s vile like snakes venom and to stupid to find the prey. In legal circles, it’s a well known fact that in cases like these the one who first talks, walks. Although I firmly believe that it was Ronalds cousin, Hope Sykes who first flipped and introduced her “friend”, the undercover PCSO, to Misty as a way to get out of her drug possession arrest of Jan 3, (and without letting Ronald in on it) – LE had a strategy targeting Misty as it is believed that she has the knowledge regarding what really happened to Haleigh. Incidental to setting Misty up, Misty herself participated with her brother Tommy, ex Ronald, and friend Brock to facilitate the transactions, all who had no clue as to the true identity of the undercover officer. Hope Sykes on the other hand, facilitated the initial introduction, knowing full well that she too would be “arrested” as well, so as have plausible deniability regarding this, and it will be no surprise to see Sykes walk from this as she no doubt fulfilled her obligation to provide “substantial assistance to LE” as it’s written in the law and often used.
Unless Misty comes clean and does so quickly, her remaining co defendants, obviously furious with her at this point will start talking themselves – and it will be interesting what new light will be shed regarding Haleighs disappearance. With a conviction and a potential sentence tantamount to life in prison on these drug charges, Misty can only help herself by coming clean and if she did take part in Haleigh’s disappearance – the resulting sentence, can, based on the circumstamces – could amount to less time for her.
So for her sake, Misty Croslin needs to “man up” clear her conscience, tell the whole truth and hope for some closure. Her goose is as good as cooked already – so at this point she has absolutely nothing to lose – especially if she didn’t take part – but knows who did.
This looks be a very sobering and revealing next couple of months. Keep up the good work Art!
Also, there is a video on YouTube comprised mainly of audio by an unidentified male suggesting there is an effort by some philanthropic entity to bond Misty and Ronald out of jail. I could swear it sounded like Cobra. Comments???

Speaking of getting Sober I did not hear of Crystal Sheffield going into rehab but she got custody of Junior. She also still has the infant Chloe the one born with illegal drugs in her system. This accident she had with this baby in the car. Is DCF out of this all together and these kids just get to go live with another druggie? Can’t someone like step in and say you have to test and do this and that go into rehab and get sober if you want to keep custody, maybe she will. I worry for those kids.

IMHO I think a person has to put them self in the shoes of who ever it is that has the information regarding what happened to Haleigh. Most likely they are from an environment of drugs and criminal activity. In every environment like that is at least one corrupt cop, they don’t want to admit that, some are actually strong enough to admit it. This person has been subjected to the very thing that is transpiring in this case. There use to being stereotyped, prejudice; their rights violated or witnessed human rights being violated. Most likely this person is no where even close to naive and likely has been manipulated left right and center. It’s impossible for a cop to lie and present things in a bias way and try to manipulate people and expect this person to come forward.. Getting them to completely trust the LE in that area is what will get them to come forward. The Police could lie about something as simple as a speeding ticket and have a profound impact on the much needed confidence this person/persons need to have in order to come forward. It’s the lies the manipulation that is being seen. This person knows how the drug world works, even if he/she is 12 they have likely seen enough dope deals to know everyone participated upon their own free will, so they see Mr. Greenwoods manipulation targeting they don’t care what it is over that shows them everything they need to know and keeps them silent. From my own personal experience I kept a secret for years for things that happened to me as a result of a couple corrupt cops completely shattering my ability to trust. Mr. Greenwood is trying to get the world to hate Misty and missing the point he needs to get that one person to trust him. JMHO

my first question to you is “Are you really ‘on this case’ or are you just on this case when the media&especially speaking of Nancy Grace has this case on TV? My understanding was that you were “hands on” there in Satsuma,FL?? That you were out in the field getting firsthand knowledge of everything from JR, and Ronald Cummings to Hank Sr. and his latest drug charges, with follow up from most frequently, the daughters in law???
This is what what you have led us to believe… Though now I realize the only time you are “hands on” and right there “in the thick of things” in Satsuma,Fl, is when there is media attention there in Satsuma,Fl… Those of us who truly care and are following this case daily have looked to you to keep us up to date on what is happening there in Satsuma,Fl and all other areas involved with the Haleigh Cummings loss(loss of a 5yrs olds life,one way or another her life has been lost,either to death or to a life as she once knew it)

Like a handful of folks writing about this case, its twists, turns and breaks, even breaking a few stories in this case, when there is a break, or I have the time and chance to break something, I report it…I feel I’m pretty ‘hands on,” and do talk with alot of folks on all sides of the case…whose direct quotes you’ve read here… I have been to Satsuma, as you know, but if a journalist has local sources, the telephone can be a very effective way to learn what’s going on, too.

If Haleigh has died, the person(s) responsible for her death will not break. The person(s) who assisted in disposing of the body will be more likely to break, in exchange for a plea bargain.
Art, since Tommy is out on bail for several previous charges, can this new charge be used as a reason to revoke the earlier bailouts? It seems like this would give law enforcement additional leverage in discussions with Tommy.

Now that she is detoxicing in jail perhaps her tremors, stomach aches, head aches, throwing up, diarrea, racing heart, and uncontrolled fevers shooting up and down will encourage her to do what she does best… be a selfish pig and bargain for her own freedom with the info she has been withholding because it was in her best interest before now.
Where are things with Junior? What has he disclosed about that night? Didn’t he say there was a man in the house, with Misty, and the couch was bouncing?

How is it that naynay was not busted az well-the last I herd she was livivg in the croslin rite aid pharmacy?
Ron is a handsome young man, but as dumb as a stump. He smiles for his mugshot like he’s going to the county fair. Also, how can he be so dumb as to not know the police were watching them? The croslins have already proved to be unsophisticated, but I was hoping for a little better from Ron, why, I don’t know.

Misty may hold the key, but another, and/or others hold the lock..I doubt she will go down alone for telling what happened to Haleigh…IF she ever confesses what she knows.. She knows she will be facing even more time if she confesses, unless a deal is brokered..Either way it doesn’t look good for her, or Ronald. I can’t understand why they all don’t come clean.. It’s gone on way too long..They may be figuring “no body, no crime”, and the media attention will eventually go away, and the truth will never be revealed. The problem is, they keep themselves in the spotlight..Now LE has their chance. If they are released I fear they will have lost it..If they are released they could skip state, or whatever schemes they may be planning. I have a feeling someone will feel sorry for her, and bail her out..Ronald doesn’t stay in jail very long, if he goes at all..He seems to have some sort of connection to LE..I do have a good feeling that we are close to finding Haleigh. LE isn’t giving up, Art isn’t, and nor are the many who care about Haleigh..

i can’t beleive that these two are so dumb, to be caught up in something like this. the cops are smart to pick their weakness, and ron’s mother should have warned them both. i thought they had enough sense to bull shit the cops over that beautiful little girl, and what really happened, but they finally let their guard down and the drugs is what got them caught. way to go law enforcement!

If I am reading these articles right Misty, Tommy and Brock are being kept in the same detention center. Is there not a law to keep a person who has domestic violence charges against them currently active or not completely separated from the victim? It’s well known that victims especially in families and or marriages often take back their statements. Where I am that would not be allowed. It’s not even allowed to seat an offender in the same room or transportation vehicle with the victim. Men and woman housed together? A man with domestic violence numerous cases against him housed with woman? On my mother’s side of the family was horrendous abuse and drug issues, not like this. Poverty & unemployment was not an issue and personal use was not an issue. It was more like 40 kilo’s not 4 grams. What this situation would translate to me in my young mind not nearly far away enough from them & to be housed with them “the system says it is OK for them to do it” and I would of remained silent even if completely innocent, even being the victim I would of protected them. Until I was completely isolated from them and given a lot of help “lips sealed shut” especially at her age. Hopefully she will see the life these people have caused her, excluding Ronald and Brock and asked to be moved away and seek counseling.

I always thought in the back of my mind that this 18yr old now Adult outwitted PCSO. I never slammed them, but, did question them as to why this case has gone on for so long without finding little Cutie Pie. It seems as though they had many a day brain storming on their next move. Well, it worked. We may never find out what happened to Haleigh, but in a bitter sweet move, we will have the “clan” serve time. I do hope we can find out about Haleigh, I just do not think Misty will roll.

Lesson to be learned here folks. Never, Never, speak to the LE and especially the media if you find yourself completly innocent in any situation. I know Misty was a naive 16 yr old and truly believed if you were not guilty you didn’t need a lawyer. LE especially in florida feed the fodder to the media and the national enquirer and Nancy Grace will take every move, expression and word and turn you into a monster. Then the only recourse to appease public opinion is to find something to send you to jail for,if nothing more than to quite the mob. Let the Lawyer do your talking.

Crystal most certainly deserves a chance to raise her son.I hope all goes well for them.
As far as Nancy Grace is concerned, there is no way she will ever publicly apologize to Crystal. Anyone with half a brain knows that she made a complete fool of herself regarding her support of RC.
It would be wonderful if the arrest of Misty and RC could lead LE to some concrete answers regarding the disappearance of Haeligh,not so sure it will happen though.

Statement Analysis of the NayNay letter shows no internal indicators of deception meaning it’s validity would need external confirmation
Misty’s 911 call that nightshows clear deception. Shereported 3 things in this order:
1. That she was asleep
2. The door was open
3. Missing child
I beleive Haleigh died as the letter stated.

Art- Do you have any knowledge if Mrs. Neves has been interviewed by LE about her past/current use of oxycontin??? Did/does Mrs. Neves have a prescription for such, and if not how did she obtain oxycontin??? If Mrs. Neves had/has a prescription for oxycontin, what pharmacy(s) did/does she use, and has she ever reported her meds being lost or stolen?? Does Mrs. Neves have any knowledge of oxycontin being in Ron’s household and accessible to his children?? Does Mrs. Neves have knowledge of Misty or Ron giving Haleigh oxycontin or any other medications not prescribed to Haleigh for her “leg cramps” as mentioned by Misty in an interview??
It is no wonder Chrystal won custody of Junior!!!! I wish LE luck in their continued investigation of Haleigh’s whereabouts, regardless how they obtain their knowledge to such!!!!
Follow the Oxycontin Trail, and this will lead LE to Haleigh’s whereabouts, dead or alive!!! Unfortunately Haleigh is likely deceased, imo. IMO, the accidental overdose letter may have merit, and needs to be further investigated, I am sure LE is on the same page!!!

When is Nancy Grace going to get off Crystal’s case? Sad thing is she really has no idea how Crystal lost custody of the children.. She didn’t get it at, and didn’t want to get it when Art tried to tell her that one of the reasons was because Ron lied through his teeth and Crystal told the truth. Ron working as a double agent?? No way ! Haeligh is gone because of the direct involvement of Ron and Misty in the drug scene. It seems even more likley now that either Ron or Misty owed someone and that poor Heligh paid the price.

DCF did test Ron Cummings when they had the custoy issue over Junior. As I understand it they tested both parents and that was the reason he kept the kids. And I sure was for them drug testing Ron Cummings when he had custody of Junior. Just as I am for testing Crystal now that she has him. What you just want to give this boy to his mom with no follow up after all she has done? All I want is for her to grow up, clean up and be a sober mother and if she can’t then her mom or someone else should take over.

Laura-How about …Bloggers Network Radio show when talking about how Crystal went to pick up Junior-…said what was not clear is if Crystal was driving and everyone laughed. I just do not think it is funny. DCF did test Ron Cummings and Crystal Sheffield and I have been saying since day one drug test them all. However, RC came up clean so either he was or their is some way to trick those test, people keep telling me there are ways. My concern has been for Haleigh and for Junior. I am not even going to answer about the Satsuma crew comment except to say if that is all that you can come up with- I feel sorry for you.

Art, that is good news. I wish her the best. But considering what Kim Picazio put in her court response I would hope that DCF follows up on this child and his mother.
I do not know if that would matter since they followed up on the dad and did nothing but someone needs to see that these children are not being put in danger. There are many places and people that would help Crystal. I would like to see her suceed and to me that does not just mean she got Junior, it means he gets a sober parent for once in his life. I hope DCF does whatever they can to help her.

I am glad her family tells you she is flying straight but I have done research and a timeline on her use of various substances, Chad’s arrests for those substances, all the way up to what Kim Picazio said about the accident, Chloe being born on illegal drugs and the medical records. That is a very long period of drug use. Most people need treatment and 12 step groups in order to really stop what has gone on in this case much of her adult life. I wish her the best. But Junior is my concern. Think what he has been put through? Crystal has also been through a lot and maybe she needs some help support or just DCF to hold her accountable. But DCF tested Ron Cummings over and over. He had Random drug testing at work. Everyone is saying he was on drugs all this time. That must mean that these tests mean nothing. I worry for Junior.

Art, Did you try to tell Nancy the truth about how Crystal lost custody? That Ron lied and Crystal told the truth?
Because I have read where she was served those papers and she said that she did not know there was a hearing because the papers went to a bogus address. Both of them have lied.
But about the Custody Crystal has told some big ones on national television and know we have someone here putting words in your mouth. What were you trying to say on Nancy.
Also, they did have beds in that house, I saw it on telelvsion in Juniors room and in Haleighs room they had toddler beds.

Crystal, I am very glad you got custody, and know you will do the right thing. Let the Nancy Grace’s of the world go on with their hatred, God wins in the end. I hope you get your little Haliegh back soon. I pray if its too late, you at least get closure. Believe it or not, I also pray for Misty , as I believe she was a victim of circumstance with her age. ROn However, is a creep, I have said it over and over, and now its proven. It was HIS job to keep Haliegh safe!! And he failed her!

I agree with Nancy-he was less drugged, now she is less drugged and the sad fact maybe that if they went to place Junior with another family member they may find they all have some kind of drug issue. I just hate that nothing can really be done about it. Ron was tested. He was tested at work and by DCF so was he Sober? Cause you are saying Crystal is sober because she passed the same tests. Can one beat these tests or not. Just a helpless situation I guess, I hope Junior does not turn out to be a junkie as well.

Hey Art; where did Misty and Ronald get the prescriptions? Are they doctor shopping. Remember what happened to Howard Stern! What not charge them with forgery if they stole a script pad? Where did they get the “buy money”. Isn’t LE looking for that sort of thing? That a father would give up the search for his daughter just for “hillbilly heroin” says alot about this whole case. Ronald has given up and is resigned to his fate. But look at his recent “mug shot”, he has a weird grin on his face like he knows somethin’ up.

Come on now,poor butter bean.He cant find a safe place to land.Im sorry,i dont agree with The mother gettin him back.Just this last year she wrecked,on pain meds-had a E fit,with her new baby in the car.One of her own family members said she needed drug rehab.Her new born was born with drugs in its system,(or so reports said)an didnt her boyfriend sell a truck of theirs,a crack pipe was found in it.Please her own Lawyer,or ex lawyer,said she was sitll using.Wouldnt get Dr letter that she couldnt drive. a woman who likes pain killer,wont stop. Sometimes they just learn when to use,an how to be sneaky=Butter bean,Bio moms baby,as well as Tommys son,shouuld be placed with decent,drug free,no criminal record people.History has a way of repeating its self.An children learn from their parents. If i came off harsh about Crystal.Well i have read many things.All of a sudden we forgot.I JUST DONT SEE HOW IT HELPS THIS CHILD.tO PLACE HIM WHERE WE REALLY ARNT SURE.sHE HAS PAST HISTORY,JUST THIS LAST YEAR HISTORY.I dont want Ron Jr to have to move over,an over.Its not healthy.As for those arrested.Its a hard life to be strung out.An someone must have miss counted lol 339 tabs-different prices,on what was sold-will never come up to 3,000 or over.()-(loritabs $3-$4)(roxys maybe 10 according to mg.)some one stretching it.–I know my Aunt in law. went to prision for selling 3 roxys got 2 yrs. I have been under a dr-for back surgeries,i take 5 perkocets a day,an i dont lie, or act fool.dont take over my amount,an dont sell. It will take 3 to 5 days to dry out.Im telling you this because i have helped many get off drugs,an sometimes its a learned behavior.If a parent sells them,a child may grow up to sell them.Donna has a place in Florida-theirs a strip they are DR SHOPPING OFF OF IN fLA.WHY ONE DAYS WORK,MAY BRING THEY IF ALL 5 WENT QUITE A FEW PERSCRIPTIONS.OR DONNA HERSELF COULD HAVE BROUGHT THEM. Im back again Art,lol so sorry for all the misspelled words,in my comments.When im upset,an tired i do that.I have just got involved in this case.My heart breaks for little Haliegh.Im the same way about Caylee.Any way,when Misty was hurt,buying drugs,.I said to myself then.If they dont arrest her,or get her in rehab.I believe she would have wound up,dead somewhere.OD,or murdered over drugs. At that time i didnt know why Drug Task Force,wasnt sent in to clean,that place up.I know they want anwsers,about Haliegh.But what if the child really was abducted,by a stranger.Many have been taken from their beds.I hope they not only got These 5 in a drug sting,but many more there.LoL it sounds like the hick town i was raised in,an thank God moved from.We are waiting now for a drug bust there they go to Florida,to Dr shop,an come home to deal-Thats why i mentioned Donna,an Flordia. Its happening everywhere..I do thank you again,for keeping us updated.I get to emotionaly involved.Maybe when Misty does dry out,she can remember some things from that night.But she was awfully concerned about the cousin who moved away.That may be the key,an she was trying to tell every one then.No one listened.3 families here in a mess.2 that have lost a love one.An another tied into it through Misty.Donna should be ashamed,but if she ever had an addiction,its so easy to get caught up into it again.Thats why i said what i did,about Ronjr mom.I hope she has got it together,for his sake. For anyone who thinks Jr. would be better off in foster care than being with his mother, you are way off base and know nothing about how foster care really is for the kids who are a part of it. Sure, there are a few really great foster parents out there, but for the most part it is really awful for the kids involved. Our foster care system workers are overworked and can’t keep up with their caseload. These kids never seem to stay in a home for very long and end up spending their childhood moving around and never staying anywhere for very long. I say give Crystal a chance.

Lissa I say something because you know way too much for reading just Art’s website. Ronald was so comfortable with his DCF worked that he went to his house. You always attack Crystal. Ronald’s judgment and lifestyle led to this happening. He should feel guilty. My problem with the posts you put up is the venom you project to Crystal. Which makes me think it’s more on a personal level. Nancy does it too makes me truly sick. Last night Nancy said she has a soft spot for Ronald! Can you believe that? This isn’t his first drug bust, he’s got charges for abuse, and he doesn’t take care of his other kid. That’s my point. Yes, it’s sad he lost his daughter. However, he didn’t do right by them. He was only thinking of what HE needed. After reading everything do you think Ronald still should have them? Crystal is young, but getting out of that town is a good start. One last thing. Crystal wanted her daughter back so much she would go on Nancy’s show and be verbally abused by Nancy. Just like Art is at times. So I just can’t comprehend the compassion toward Ronald.
