David Letterman Extortion-Sex Scandal; CBS producer charged.

If it were comedic material, David Letterman might set up the gambit with, “Boy, sometimes it really sucks to be rich and famous.”
It almost came off as a deadpan Letterman when he tried to tell his audience the nightmare was no joke, with initial laughter before he laid out the plot: a CBS 48 Hours producer had demanded $2 million to keep silent about the late night star’s affairs with women on his staff, and left a packet of proof in the comedian’s car early one recent morning to prove he had the goods.
Aghast, Letterman turned it over to his lawyer, met with prosecutors and laid out the extortion plot and his affairs to a grand jury, a painful experience, he said. But he feared for his family and himself and going public like he did appeared to be brilliant damage control strategy, turning him, his family and the unnamed other women into victims.
Letterman told his story during a taping of his show Thursday, mixing in jokes to an audience that seemed confused about what it was. He called it a “bizarre experience” that left him feeling disturbed and menaced, and made a public admission that he had carried on sexual relationships with female employees, and regretted it.
CBS says an employee has been charged with attempted grand larceny in the case after Letterman said he referred the matter to the Manhattan district attorney’s office. An investigation ended in an arrest Thursday after Letterman issued a phony $2 million check to keep the matter silent.
CBS suspended the employee, who was behind bars on charges that could bring nine to 15 years in prison.

What goes around comes around. David Letterman is good at bad-mouthing other people such as Sara Palin and her daughter. He really is a dirty old man. I can’t imagine who would want to have sex with him anyway. Maybe that was the only way those ladies could keep their jobs. He should have been fired for saying all that stuff about the Palin teenager. Not too late, he could still be fired. Maybe he should stay home and take care of his wife and child and keep his stuff in his pants.

When you are single and dating, how is that an affair??? Also, how do you know his now wife, who was not his wife at the time, but also worked on the show, thought she was his only date. You dont know that they were an exclusive item at that time. I dont believe an single man is being degraded because he slept with women, and that is exactly what is happenening. Leave Dave alone, it is none of your business.

If David Letterman was David Schmo, would the words sexual harassment be taken seriously? Letterman came clean, if you will, to reveal his dirty little secret, so he could avoid the wrath of the media. The women? May they learn their lessons, and avoid such cads.

David should be ashamed of himself.. He took advantage of his “power”..The girls should also be ashamed for not caring about themselves, and their bodies enough to say, “This is wrong, you are my BOSS, and I don’t want to participate”. Supposedly the sex was between consenting parties…It’s still ethically, and morally wrong, IMO I think this will hurt David with his viewing audience, although, I admire him for admitting his actions…so many don’t..

I sometimes watch Dave and truly wonder why. I really don’t find him funny and some of the so called jokes he says are very hurtful such as the Palin joke (and no I’m not really a fan of her either). I truly think Dave’s time has come. He can have upteam affairs and I just don’t think he is funny. What he does with his personal life is his business. And the way he told of the crime was stupid too in my opinion. Ann

I haven’t heard of any women on the show complaining of sexual harrassment. Letterman is a victim, not a criminal.

I don’t think he is funny either. HE thinks he is funny. Actually he never would have said anything about all this had he not been caught (with proof). All this could still be going on for all anyone knows.
Does anyone really believe his wife knew about this? I don’t. Had she known about it she would have to be an imbecile to marry him. Unless she married him strictly for the money. He is certainly not a good looking man. He is quite mean and nasty with his jokes about other people. Not so funny when the shoe is on the other foot. Huh, dave??
He is not being degraded because he slept with women, it’s because he used his position to get those women to sleep with him, and if you think he didn’t then it’s because you are not a woman. I believe some may come forward and sue him now. Hopefully they will. He deserves everything he gets. He apparently thinks he is above anyone disagreeing with him. Well, he’s not. If these women have ANY
