Haleigh Search Yields No Clues, Just Crack!

Two months before Friday’s police search, a grieving mother hunting answers requested a parent update from frustrated Putnam County detectives working the Haleigh Cummings mystery, only to learn investigators had no break, but were working hard to follow up some 4,000 tips they’d run down, and remained committed to finding her daughter, and analyzing more forensic evidence.
While sources close to the case told me police did not consider Haleigh a stranger abduction, then or now, theorizing it more likely a child snatch by someone with ties to, or familiar with, the Cummings family, they couldn’t tell Crystal much, says her attorney, Kim Picazio. She joined Crystal for the sheriff’s department briefing in Satsuma that also included Sheffield’s mother, Marie Griffis.
Officially, no one had been ruled out, but sources told me investigators were focused on plugging holes in conflicting stories given by a 17 year old babysitter, Misty (then Croslin), who after several days of hard partying, reported Haleigh missing early Feb. 10 from the trailer where she was living with father, Ronald Cummings, Haleigh and little brother, Junior.
All the more reason why Marie Griffis made her unusual request – for police to search their 40 acre farm in Baker County for little Haleigh, dead or alive, to clear up suspicions, gossip or innuendo that the Sheffield side of the family had anything to do with the child gone missing. The search had nothing to do with any so called “tip,” as some have misreported.
“We wanted them to formally clear Crystal,” said Kim Picazio, her attorney in an interview with The Bald Truth. “They’d never searched the property, and we felt it important so people could read between the lines and understand she’s not on their radar as a suspect and never was.”
That request initially set plans into motion for Friday’s intense search in Baker County, sources tell me, and more than three dozen sheriff’s deputies from three counties, along with state police from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) descended on Griffis’s hay farm where Sheffield lives in a trailer with boyfriend, Chad, and daughter, Chloe, just behind Marie and Bruce Griffis’s doublewide.
As reported by local media and confirmed by law enforcement, police also brought along divers to check two nearby lakes, cadaver dogs to search for human remains (they found none), used backhoes to dig up animals –horses, cows, goats–the family alerted police before the search they’d buried on the property, according to Captain Dominic Piscitello, of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department who supervised the effort.
“We searched just about everything and came up empty,” Piscitello told reporters, declaring there was no evidence of any human remains, or Haleigh.
Since the property belonged to Griffis’ husband, Bruce, he had to sign consent forms in advance to allow police on his property. Sources close to the case say Griffis made clear to law enforcement they would only allow police to conduct the search, not controversial private investigator William Staubs, aka Cobra, who represents Marie’s ex mother in law, and has been highly critical of Crystal and her attorney.
Out on bond for allegedly arresting an accused sex offender without authorization—something he vehemently denies—Cobra faces a third degree felony charge for false imprisonment.
While Cobra claims the family was tipped in advance of the search, Kim Picazio insists her clients requested the search, but didn’t know the exact date it would happen—an account law enforcement confirms—until searchers showed up. In fact, she seemed surprised when Crystal called her Friday morning, followed by a local reporter telling her a search was underway. Sources close to the case tell me law enforcement is keeping insider details about the investigation from Picazio.
In our interview, Picazio told me Crystal relayed that Marie was out on the property leading searchers around, and they were “digging,” something the family did not know would happen, according to sources close to the investigation. But when police showed up with back hoes, Griffis showed officers where to dig for the farm animals they’d buried.
Not only did police unearth the carcasses to confirm the claims, but used dogs to search inside and under all trailers and structures, witnesses told me. Piscatello told reporters the search turned up no clues to indicate Haleigh had been there, and called it all part of “due diligence,” just another effort to rule out potential suspects and check off extraneous issues that would allow investigators to narrow the focus of the Haleigh probe.
No search warrants were necessary, and none had to be requested, sources tell me, because the family asked for police to search. Nor would a judge likely have issued one so easily since there was no probable cause a crime had occurred there.
The only wrinkle: police searching an empty truck on the property discovered an undisclosed amount of crack and crack pipes. When I spoke with Major Gerald Gonzalez of the Baker County Sheriff’s department Monday morning, he said the truck was not registered to anyone in the Sheffield or Griffis families, but to a man described as a friend, Jesse Watkins.
“The Putnam County folks discovered the crack and crack pipes and turned it over to us,” said Gonzalez, “but we were not able to make contact with Mr. Watkins to get his take on what was located.”
According to Maj. Gonzalez, the ‘91 green and white Ford truck was parked near a trailer on the property. “Nobody was willing to stake claim to it. Basically we were told it was a friend.”
He said the Griffis are well regarded, and that there was alot of sympathy for the plight of Haleigh’s mother, Crystal Sheffield, in Baker County, where her mother, Marie, is a longtime school bus driver.
“It’s my understanding they were very cooperative, and wanted this search done to make sure everyone knew from their perspective everything that could be investigated was investigated,” said Gonzalez.
While the crack seizure remains under investigation, Maj. Gonzalez doubts there will be any arrests, or charges. “You’d never be able to prosecute something like this unless he or anyone was foolish enough to say, ‘Yeah, that’s mine.’”
Calls to Crystal, Chad, and Marie Griffis were not returned.

CLARIFICATION:
Initally we quoted a law enforcement source as saying crack pipes and a small amount of crack cocaine found in the truck on the Griffis property was believed to belong to Chad. However, we wanted to make sure that was accurate and learned it was not, following up Monday morning with a call to Baker County Sheriff’s Department which confiscated the drug paraphernalia and wrote a report that found the truck belonged to a man named Jesse Watkins, NOT Chad Griffis. Officers told me they believed Watkins to be a friend of the family. No call backs from Crystal, Chad and Marie, or Watkins Monday.

It was reported on the local news that LE received a tip and that is why they went to search the Griffis property. Marie Griffis has always been cooperative with LE. I do not believe Marie or her husband had a problem with LE searching their property. I do believe they would like to be ruled out as having anything to do with Haleighs disappearance. I would have rather the search came from a tip, than an open invitation. If Le had done the search stemming from a tip; it would not of been expected. ( IMO ) These searches should of been done when Haleigh first came up missing, not almost 5 months later!!!

Why all the fuss about Cobra not being allowed to search because some of the comments he made about Crystal is rediculous. He made his position clear from the beginning. He was there for Haleigh!!! He was not on any side: only Haleighs! He has to stay emotionally detached from the two families as to keep a clear focus on what happened to Haleigh and who is responsible.
Chad needs to be drug tested to see if the drugs found on the property are in his system or any other drug for that matter. Ron and Misty should of been drug tested right from the start when Haleigh came up missing. I believe there are alot of things that could of been done differently right from the start!!!

Oh goodness, how I hate to read about this, Art. It’s not as if this case needed yet another sideshow.
I admit that my own suspicions regarding what happened to Haleigh lean more towards the father’s family and associates. This latest “wrinkle” doesn’t make her mother’s side look very great either.
Please do keep us up-to-date on the outcome of this discovery.
In the meantime, do you mind telling us when you tried to contact the Sheffield/Griffis family for comment? I only ask because I noted this report was posted at 3:47 a.m.
Has the Baker County Sheriff’s Office confirmed this incident? While I do not suspect you of publishing information based on the word of an unreliable source, I myself would feel better with something a bit more substantive.
If perchance the story proves unfounded, please do not bury a correction the way so many print media outlets do.

This search was a total waste of time and money. Griffis stated she wanted the search to clear Crystal from suspicion? Al the search accomplished was to show that no one used that particular property to dispose of a human body…at least in the areas Griffis lead LE to search.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Dept reports that they were asked to search the property by Griffis (Marie?) but they did not tell them which day they would be there. Did they think that by surprising them, any suspect would say “Oh darn, I should have moved that body yesterday”.
Bruce Griffis gave permission to search his property because there was no probable cause to obtain a search warrant.
They did find cocaine and drug paraphernalia in a truck owned by friend Jesse Watkins, but LE claims they can’t do anything about it “unless someone is stupid enough to say ‘that’s mine’”. Bull. Possession in itself is illegal.
If the PCSO’s budget permits this type of expendature to clear someone from any suspicion at their request, then why can’t they put this money and effort to use to really help find Haleigh?? While they had cadaver dogs, why did they not followup on the lead received by Cobra in which he has been trying for weeks to get cadaver dogs to followup??
Throughout this case, I have tried to give the PCSO the benefit of the doubt, but after this, I no longer have any confidence in their ever finding Haleigh, and I think resolution of this case will be left to people like William “Cobra” Staubs to interview, investigate, and follow leads. It is just a shame that he has to depend on private donations to accomplish what needs to be done, and has no monetary help from LE.

Oh my…what is going on in FL? It is possible that someone planted the drugs in that truck. Regardless, this is so sad. Still no sign of Haleigh..God I pray the family gets some answers soon…I pray that LE will solve this case, even though it looks like this case has gone cold.

I would love to know how Picazio figures searching the Griffis property is going to “formally clear” anyone. All that search proved is that Haleigh isn’t there.

While Cobra has been shaking up the landscape, and the cops would embrace anyone he might walk in the door who can fill in the crucial timeline of that lost night, they have an investigation to run their way. Cobra says over and over he respects that, and just wants to help, and still sends them leads or tips when he has them.
One thing some forget, one wise cop once told me, is that top investigators work harder to clear the person than to rush to judgment with incorrect assumptions.
Shouldn’t that be the driving force behind any criminal justice system, clear the innocent and the last one standing is tagged?
If law enforcement, which includes the FBI, believed that a search might clear this family, so they could justify spending their energy and manpower in other more promising areas, why not? Shouldn’t they be focusing on those they believe may hold the keys to unlocking the Haleigh mystery and bringing a little girl home, hopefully alive? If you understand law enforcement thinking, you’d understand that due diligence in any investigation involves working hard to prove people innocent and then moving on if they are; in missing child investigations, protocol means looking at the parents, and trying to rule them out first. In this case, it seems law enforcement, by concluding this search, is saying this side of the family is clear, unless of course something solid makes them want to look again.
If investigators can’t “prove” someone curious is innocent, maybe they are guilty, or at least should remain on the keep looking at ‘em list.
In this case, the search did not come from a tip, which some have misreported, suggesting it was founded on suspicious circumstances hinting at guilt, and not an effort to use due diligence in a very difficult case. The search was prompted when investigators tell me they learned from family members animals were buried on the property. Had they not dug ‘em up, you’d likely be attacking them for leaving that stone unturned.
If you are suggesting hard-hearted or incompetent deputies with Putnam County don’t really care about solving this case, just ask them about their own children and the toll this little girl has taken on them personally and professionally.
They may not wear their hearts on their sleeves because they’ve got ‘em rolled up, working away, even if we all wish they’d hold more press conferences or open up to tell us details they can’t because they don’t want those under suspicion to know they’re just waiting, waiting for them to make one false move.

The more I hear of this case I’m convinced….Haleigh packed her bags and ran away from home.
There were drugs on the property… and no arrest? That’s PCSO for ya. Seems they arrest who they want.Maybe it’s Baker county LE, either way they are lame in my opinion.
Drugs and children on the same property don’t mix well. I would’nt be surprised if haleigh ate Drugs, and was found overdosed .

Sure they won’t claim it was theirs, whoever owns that truck is responsible.And if he is not, then who is? If LE wants to clear The sheffeild/ Griffis…then clear them of this “drug possesion” too.

Finally they suspect Crystal. Her mother probably knew where the guilt was all along. That’s the reason she asked for the search. The drugs were probably bought from donations to help Crystal. I feel like Haleigh is no longer with us after so long unless Crystal or her mouthpiece have her living with someone in another state.
Hope they investigate Jesse Watkins to see if he has information about Haleigh.
As always my prayers are for Haleigh to be returned to Ron and Misty where she belongs.

As the daughter of a retired officer; I know the more time that passes, the less likely she will be found alive. I’m believing in a miracle. Too many young children are being taken in this world. oh my,my heart go’s to crystall sheffield,a mother is the one who suffer the most.. the property been search i just felt there aint no way, anyway no sign of haleigh. i have more suspicious on ronald side in the family. the money is going sky high, LE BETTETR work harder and get this job done. enough its going on 5 month and still know sign of Haleigh. Of course the FBI is on call; if you’d read more carefully, you’d know their agents were not on the scene, but offer on call services, like behavioural experts and profilers, even a lab if the FDLE lab can’t handle. Though theirs is top notch. If you ask your FBI pals, they might recall the numerous cases we’ve worked on together over the years, from OKC, to the Atlanta Olympic Park bombing and capture of Eric Rudolph, the DC sniper, serial killers and missing kids.
No one suggested agents were in house or clocking PCSD bathroom breaks, unless you imagined it from sharing that pipe they found on the property.

I appreciate your taking the time to respond to my post.
Your view makes a lot of sense, and ideally an effort should be put forth to clear the innocent. However, that has not been the case in my experience and I do have a background in law enforcement. I have observed the number one priority is to catch the criminal, and if those actions reveal parties to be innocent along the way, so be it. I was questioning their priorities. I am not aware of particular suspicion of the Griffis’ family except on blogs, where everyone is suspect. Search of their property didn’t really “clear” this side of the family.

For example: searching sex preditor’s homes and property again with cadaver dogs. In a local missing child case, the killer lived next door. Initial search revealed nothing, but upon return 3 days later the dog alerted on the attic and the girl was found dead in a plastic container. I sent LE info on 3 RSO’s who were released from Putnam Co. Jail within days of eachother, just before Haleigh was taken, one living just down the street. Were their homes every rechecked?

I certainly would not attack LE for not searching Marie’s property. I’m very pro LE, although I know my post didn’t reveal that. I DO greatly sympathize with deputies having to work this case and have no doubt that they are doing all they can. It must take it’s toll on deputies with young children. I also know depuites do not make decisions to conduct a full scale search – it comes from administration who has influences from other entities, which can offset priorities.

Why don’t they do fingerprints and take dna off the crack pipe and crack (if it was inside a bag)?? This is NOT Rocket Science here.
I am certain that if there was any sign of Haleigh on that property, it most probably happened months ago. To request LE to go out there to search is ludacrist! I can just hear their conversation now. “Hey, I’ve got an idea, lets’ request that LE come out here and dig up our farm to make us look innocent.” (Bet they will have an awesome veggie garden now – LOL!)
Does anyone remember Griffis saying she just KNOWS that Haleigh is alive and in another state, like Alabama or Georgia?? Hmmm.

I NEVER SEE RON OR THE BLUSHING YOUNG BRIDE ANYMORE. DOES RON WORK? DOES MISTY BABYSIT? DOES HE KNOW WHO THE CRACK AND CRACK PIPES BELONG TO? DOES SHE STILL PARTY DOWN WITH HER FRIENDS? I DON’T SEE GETTING MARRIED STOPPING HER. WHO OWNS ALL THE OLD AUTOS ON THE PRIVATE LAND? YOU NOTICE I DID SAY PRIVATE LAND! WE ALL CAN HAVE JUNK CARS ON OUR PROPERTY. THOSE CARS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE FIRST PLACES TO GET A THROUGH SEARCH. I read your report concerning the Griffis/Sheffield search at approximately 4:30 a.m. this morning. At that time you had reported that your sources believed that the crack and pipes found in the truck on the Griffis/Sheffield property belonged to Chad Griffis (paraphrasing). As I am 100% against any kind of drugs I have to add I am just as against a mans name being trashed without cause. I took note that instead of adding a *correction* in your reporting or an apology to Chad Griffis you just changed your wording. Is that fair to Chad Griffis?..if so, why?
I hope you are aware that Chad Griffis is all over blogs stating it was his Crack and Pipes found in the truck. Not all people are aware of your updated report of the truck belonging to Jesse Watkins. In my opinion where you added PHOTO NOTE – You could have also added – CORRECTION NOTE.
I would also like to ask, do you know if Jesse Watkins has been found and will he be questioned regarding the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings?
P.S. I have so much more I would like to speak to you about in detail and one is concerning your moderator 2Spunky. You should note at the top of your forum if you are not a Crystal fan that you will not be treated with respect. As you can see in my post I am not a Ron or Crystal fan I am a Haleigh Cummings Fan. I will leave the rest of my thoughts for another post because I will be amazed if this post does appear on your website.

I totally agree with what Art says in post #10. Work to clear the suspects until there is only one left. I am a big fan of the CBS show Cold Case, this is exactly how they solve the crimes on that show.
That may be the only way this case ever get solved. I don’t think we will ever get a confession and we may never find Haleigh’s remains either. I do not believe she is still alive, how I wish it were so, but the facts are telling us otherwise.

Well, Im glad this article has finally been posted so everybody that doesnt know what they are talking about can finally be quiet, and see that some did know what they were saying when they tried to tell others that this search was done because the Griffis asked for it to be done, My God, you people on the blogs ask for informaion and when someone tries to give it to you, what do you do,,,yell at the one that tells you the info,,,,,,
What the Hell is wrong with you people, LE searched because they had been asked to and the family told LE about the horse being buried their so they wouldnt freak out when they came across bones……
Common sense isnt very common sometimes and if you would think before you respond you would realize just how silly what you were about to post sounds..
Anybody with a thread of common sense can see that Ronald and Misty are the ones that know more than what is being said.
Come on people, if your babysitter lost your child and your ex was in another town and you were not there at the time then who are you gonna blame…..The babysitter….well duhhh……..get a grip…..stop all the stretching and searching for way to put the guilty in a brighter light and just think reasonable……its not that hard to do…….

Art, it seems like you are all for this ridiculous search on the Griffis property. I call it more of a “photo op.” HLN said today that it cost the tax payer’s 7K. And, wasn’t there a fire the night before at a Griffis’ relatives home that LE searched on Friday?? I believe the “fire” was on Thursday.
And, it also looks like Crystal has no seat belt w/her child in her arms in what I presume is a moving car driven by Jerimiah Reagan?? We all know about that triangle, now..don’t we?? I would love to know who took this picture and when it was taken. Seems to me that Crystal’s attorney is wanting to open up a can of whoop ass on Ron for driving his kids around seat-beltless??
These are things that make me go “hmmmm.”

Why? Thanks for your note. You are absolutely right, will make a note to clarify the Chad info from sources on the case who furnished the initial info that I later learned was wrong. The truck with the crack pipes and bag containing crack residue on their property, according to the police report, was registered to a friend named Watkins. Unclear if he was at the site during the search, or there earlier…But was told no one would claim ownership of the pipes or drugs, so got the impression no follow up investigation was in the works…Baker County believed the case would be impossible to make stick, and probably not worth the effort given the small amount of crack cocaine involved. Just passing along my impressions from conversations.

It’s as though people want info and then when they get it, they can’t wait to find what Art did wrong.He always comes back and corrects anything that needs correcting.

I hope this search will put to rest the bad-mouthing of Crystal. I is obvious she and her family are griving and are not involved in any way with Haleigh’s dissapearance.
I do have a question: Crystal does not look well, she seems so frail. I noticed that in the one video Crystal seemed to have trouble walking…like her ankles were trembling. I just wondered if she has CP or something else.
I don’t want to invade her privacy but I think the piling on her does not help her at all and only adds to her burden.

What I am gathering from your stories the basic idea is should the perpetrator know one side or the other of these families then that side is to blame? That is one straight forward way to leap back a few decades in terms of awareness and facts on predators. No one deserves this or earns it, no avenue that any one person chooses is a permission slip to abduct their child. Keep the focus where it belongs, on the predator. I am surprised LE says it is not a stranger, surprised they would rule any one out. Here we had a case recently. Little girl taken from school by a woman brunette wearing a white coat, on this paticular day the brother could not walk the girl, only family knew. So what are the odds that on this day she would go, and the mother a brunette with a white coat. Apparently the odds are quite good. The police told the mother she was the prime suspect. She matched everything & on this day of all days. Except some neighbours noticed a young woman who cut her brunette hair throwing a white coat in the dumpster. They asked about her hair and dug the coat out of the garbage and phoned and phoned police until they checked it out. The young woman was not the mother but did cooperate in kidnapping the girl and ultimately taking her to the man that killed her. Anything is possible. Don’t under mind the extreme danger of this predator by placing stories that suggest it is about company rather than accountability and reasponsibility, no matter the environment a predator is a predator and will do what a predator does. Think beyond the limits of stigmas and stereotypes.

In fact in a report to DCF, it is alledged to show Ronald unfit, by riding around little JR without a seat belt or restraint of any kind. Unless this photo is one of those alledged to be photoshoped, Some one forgot to photoshop a seat belt for Crystal too.

MiaViv comprehension has been the whole find Haleigh mystery. I feel like any mother that would not get out of bed to go to court to gain custody of her own children has a problem. Everyone in this case should be investigated but anyone that tries to make money from their little girl missing needs to be first on the list. This is my opinion. The statement “SHE COULD BE LIVING IN ANOTHER STATE” put up the red flag for me. Sorry if you don’t agree.
My prayers are for Haleigh to be returned to Ron and Misty.

After re-reading my post I realize I owe you an apology. I should not have made the comment that my post may not show up on your web-site. I am sorry for making that comment and I can only hope you except my apology.
I realize you report the story and LE is responsible for any arrest. I have to say something does not feel right with no arrest when LE finds “crack”.
Thank you Art for keeping Haleigh’s story in the news. I believe you are one of the reasons Haleigh has not turned into a cold case.

This search is such a waste of taxpayer’s money! However, LE must have had some suspicions…. I don’t think they would have searched just to please Marie. I can only imagine how much equipment and manpower was used for this absurdity. Poor Me (Crystal) will certainly blame the crack on someone else as she knows an investigation is not forthcoming. It’s already been reported it wouldn’t be worth the effort given the small amount of dope found. Wheew! Now she can continue to say she’s drug free. Anybody believe that? Not me!

Crystal is no Brittany Spears for geesh sakes! All I see there, is a loving mother holding her precious child, comforting a sick child, more than likely reflecting on the past few weeks with Haleigh gone missing. I see so much hurt, regret & pain in her.
Now, with that said……..WHY was his beautiful hair shaved off?! You tell me that! You tell me why his father took him to have his hair buzzed off to the point where DCF can’t get a hair sample to see the amount & duration of the THC exposure! And whatever else he was exposed too in that trailor. I hope they took young Butterbean to the doctor and got a blood draw! I find it stranger than- no car seat on that particular moment, that after the tip was called in to DCF to test his hair, that it was shaven off! Talk about someone tipping the other side off!
Mr. Staubs you turned a 180 on Crystal, all out of your precious ego. I dont care what you & KP are squabbling about, dont throw Crystal under the bus, thats still Haleighs mother! And I thought you cared about her! And only her. What about Haleigh? You chose a side, when you said you wouldnt. Art, you dont have to post this….but its funny to me how PCSO found this alleged crack pipe. Funnier than a $3 bill. I’m telling you, this is the only thing that makes any sense to me: Is that there is corruption in that department somewheres and which is why they pushed all the help as far away as they can. They want it to go away. I know you have sources Art, but how would you know that your source is not leading you in one direction? How can you be so sure your getting 100% truth out of PCSO? I know many many LEO’s and there is corruption & obstruction in all of them on various levels. This may or may not make the post. But Im telling you Art, my gut tells me and I cant ignore it. Something is wrong in that County. Why isnt the FBI on this? Why would they need to be called in case theyre needed? Why are they on the downlow? because PCSO wants it that way. They have lots of internal messes to clean up. It is far from being cleaned up. Sherrif Hardy has his hands ful, but he needs to be taking certain ones official off the Haleigh case. Others need to be called in. Im willing to go as far to say, Baker County aint going to do nothing about the crack pipe, because they know theres a potential that it was planted there. Glad they didnt make a huge stink about it. The only thing is. GGS & The Cummings clan will surely make a belly ache of it for DCF, wait and see. They are going to have a field day with this news.

This is the strangest blog I’ve ever read. I’m a member of many, many blogs/websites, almost all of them relating to the search for missing children, or true crime sources. Of all those, I’ve yet to encounter a blog with so many uninformed people commenting. I just don’t get it??? At times, it’s easily explained as someone appearing misinformed, or not very intelligent, simply by the words they speak/type. Other times, it’s nothing more than the content of the comment itself.
The people on this site ask for answers, yet when given answers, they refute them at every turn. When given a story written by Art, they question every part of it, as if he just pulled it out of thin air, or pulled it out of…even worse. Ever heard the saying, don’t shoot the messenger?” In a sense, Art is the messenger, yet regardless of what he writes, there are those on this site that read what he writes, then comment as if he’s said nothing at all. Or, even worse still, he posts a story, then they comment as if the story read something totally different than it did.
As with any reporter/reports, there will be errors. That’s just the way it is. If Art gets a lead or a report of some type, he reports it. If he is wrong, or there is a correction to be made, he does so. The problem here is, you people jump on the bandwagon so fast it makes a persons head spin. i.e…. the drugs being found on the property of the Griffis. Before he had a chance to correct it, it’s all over the internet that Crystal’s b-friend had a stash of crack, therefore must be related to the kidnapping of Haleigh. Not only that, what makes it worse, you all use Art as the source of that information, making him look like the moron, when in fact it would be the person re-typing the gossip, not Art himself.
I even noticed that Cobra got in a dig or two about the picture with Crystal holding Junior without a seatbelt. It’s been said, BY COBRA himself that he believes that Crystal’s family is involved in taking Haleigh, not Ron or Misty. He said this on BNN radio. I’m wondering then, why is it that all of you Cobra followers continue to question where Haleigh is, or how she got there? You seem to think Cobra has all the answers, or has the ability to find the answers, so why question anything else if he’s given you his point of view.
I personally view Cobra much differently than a lot of people on this blog. There are some staunch supporters, there are some not so. My personal opinion is that Cobra is not very highly respected by LE, and he is more “in the way” than anything else. I don’t see or hear anything from LE that leads me to believe that they find him anything more than a wannabe cop. Such is the saying, you’re not a help, you’re a hindrance. IMO only, I believe that Cobra showed up in to this investigation with high hopes of becoming a Dog the Bounty Hunter type. I think he is more of a Padilla type if you ask me. I happen to like Padilla, but I don’t think his presence in the Anthony case has done anything other than cause more chaos than is already there.
I don’t think he needs monetary donations, nor do I think he deserves them. Certainly he shouldn’t ask for them. When someone does something out of the kindness of their heart, they do JUST THAT. They don’t ask for money, and if the time comes that the money runs out, well then, move on, back to whatever it is you do that provides you an income. When you build up enough money, you can go back to searching again. I wonder just how it is your family (if you have one) is surviving during the midst of your quest for answers?? If you are barely able to afford a Motel 6 for a night, then I would assume your wife and child/children (if you have any) are the ones suffering at this point. Everyone would like to help in the search for Haleigh, or any missing child for that matter, but realistically we can’t afford the time away from jobs and/or family to do so. I’ve seen so many sing the praises of Cobra, yet I just don’t see him the way those people do. I’m not being harsh btw, simply speaking the truth as “I see it.” My opinion. I find him to be over the top, and anytime I’ve seen him near LE, they seem standoffish. Anytime LE of any type has spoken of him, they didn’t speak ill of him, they just didn’t want to speak of him period, as they don’t feel he is a vital part of this investigation. I’m sure they are willing to take whatever leads he feels he may have, but that is no different than you or I digging up something and phoning it in. LE would more than likely follow up on those as well.
All this talk of LE being crooked and not caring or looking for Haleigh is craziness, gossip, etc. Art himself has stated many times that he feels LE is doing what they can. Again, I ask then, why do you only hear half of what says? If Art gives an answer you want, you hear it. If Art gives information you don’t agree with, or simply don’t like, some of you act as if you never heard it. I would venture to say that those of you yelling from the mountaintop that LE is not doing their job, well, I believe it’s possible you’re either incredibly bored, or you watch entirely too many crime shows on t.v. This is not CSI. Crimes are not solved within a one hour time slot. In fact, some crimes are NEVER solved. Unfortunately that could be the case here, who knows. The constant downing of LE or vicious gossip certainly isn’t going to help anything.
SO many of you wanted answers from Crystal, yet when she or her family members have someone search the property, it’s not good enough for you. You claim that it wasn’t a “real” search because they knew LE was coming. Does anyone realize that regardless of whether or not they knew LE were coming, they couldn’t hide the fact a dead or live body of Haleigh had been there at some point? They don’t train cadaver dogs to search only if the family wasn’t notified first. Those dogs search on instinct and hours upon hours of training.
Nothing is ever good enough for anyone on this site, and if I were Art, I’d be highly annoyed at those of you who ask for answers, then either question what he says, or act as though you read the paragraph yet didn’t comprehend a word of it.
I suppose those of you who truly have a quest for truth may or may not read all the posts here, if so, then you may well be reading this one. Keep this in mind on your quest. The truth does NOT change. It can be added to, but it doesn’t change. A lie however is a completely different ballgame. I’m making reference to Misty. I could understand someone being under duress and stating something as fact, then going back to change it later, but consistently standing by their word thereafter. Example….Haleigh was in bed with me and Junior. Easily a misunderstanding that she meant in the same room, not the same bed. The problem is, that’s not the only inconsistent statement she has made. She has made many, and not only that, when the questioning got tough, she wanted no part of it. I believe without question that Ron married Misty to keep his enemies close. Given Misty’s reputation and age, it would be nothing for her to have run off with someone new and completely put all this behind her. Ron is smarter than most give him credit for. He married her as a way to keep tabs on her, in hopes of someday finding out what happened to his daughter.
I do believe that there are many people who don’t quite understand the pharmacology of the drugs Misty was using the few days prior to Haleigh disappearing. If Misty were smoking pot or using cocaine for a few days, there wouldn’t be a dire physical need to run out and find more, as would be the case of a more long time user of the drugs. Her physical appearance alone leads one to believe she isn’t a daily user of these type drugs. Roxicodone is another she was said to have taken. That is the generic name for percocet in it’s purest form, i.e…no tylenol/ibuprofen added. That is also another drug that taken sporadically wouldn’t cause a physical need to run out and get more. My point is really this though….there are many that feel Misty was in some drug induced stupor after her weekend of partying. I tend to disagree with that as well. Given the explanations I just gave concerning the drugs, not only that, a couple days of any or all of these drugs will not leave one in a comatose state, unless of course you were close to overdose of any or all of them. I think it’s more likely Misty slipped out to meet one of her b-friends that night, leaving the door propped open with that brick, as a way to gain easy access back to the house when she heard Ron’s truck rounding the bend. That is, if the backdoor isn’t visible from the front of the house. She is a 17yr. old, which makes her a child herself, or at the very least, a very, very young lady. She would and probably did stupid things all the time, and given the opportunity now, probably would again.
I’m not saying Ron is a saint or anything close to it. I will say this though….. People gripe and complain about Ron not working now. Well, has it ever crossed your mind that you wouldn’t feel like working either if your child went missing? He did however work and support the family prior to this. There are many men/boys his age that don’t do that until they are much older. I believe Ron loved Haleigh and wouldn’t hurt her, however dumb it was to leave her with an irresponsible teenager. I fully believe the answers you all seek lie with Misty. As I said, I don’t think it was drug induced stupor that took her from her duties that night as much as it may have been a man that took her attention away. Think about this…..as mad as Ron seems to get over things that Misty did, or at Crystal according to her statements about their marriage. Imagine what or how he would have reacted to her sleeping around?? He KNOWS she did that for a fact, just a couple weeks prior to marrying her. Misty isn’t in charge of that relationship, Ron is. If Ron didn’t want Misty, I believe she would have been crying and begging to get him back. As I said, he married her anyway. Do you really think Ron is that stupid or desperate? NO. He is however smart enough to marry someone that was the last person to have seen his child, someone that is known to run around town with other men. Someone who is young enough to get involved with another man and forget all about little Haleigh.
I think in this case it’s important not to put all your eggs in one basket, or put the cart before the horse. That goes for what Ron’s motives are toward Misty. That also goes for how some of you view Cobra as well. A statement was given by LE that Cobra knew he shouldn’t have, or didn’t have any business falsely imprisoning anyone. Remains to be seen, he shall have his day in court. I believe Art reports what he knows to be fact, so Art’s opinions or fact based reports should be viewed as such. Everything else, possibly taken with a grain of salt. Just because someone said it, or media reported something, does not make it so.

I have often thought that people were being WAY too harsh in their views of Crystal, however, if that vehicle is not moving I’ll eat my sock. I can understand a Mom wanting to comfort her tired/sick child, but if you’re gonna sneak in a hug while the vehicle is moving, make sure the camera isn’t rolling …. just a friendly suggestion.

#34 , the only way that Haleigh’s case and Tori’s case can be compared together are the fact that both sets of families are into the drugs . Haleigh’s mother admitted her drug addiction and Tori’s mother didn’t until after the oxy’s came into the picture , which is where Tori’s kidnapper comes in . As for both father’s , Tori’s father had been open about his trouble with the law while Ronald keeps on denying . Tori’s situation is more different than Haleigh’s in many ways . I think there is much to be told on both sides of the cases and it’s a matter of time before the entire truth comes out on both cases .
Also I might add is that Tori’s kidnapper is or was at the very least trying to help the OPP’s but failed and that is why I think they upped the anti for her and charged her with first degree murder . Misty on the other hand is not helping whatsoever , instead continues to tell too many stories . None the less neither girl should of dropped off the face of the earth the way that they had .
I would like to know where you got the info that they had found the white jacket when all that’s been given out is that two of the neighbors amateur sleuth’s went looking at dumpsters in London but found nothing . Did I miss something there ????

I was reading on the forum from quite a few people that think they know Crystal and have her all figured out. YOU PEOPLE don’t know it all!!! It makes me sick. IF YOU are not the person, why the heck do you make stupid comments? I live quite a long distance from Florida but I’ve made it a point to learn everything I can about RC, Misty and Chrystal. I wouldn’t want to have dinner with any of them but I’ve learned a lot of the “whys”. Now I’m working on another angle. I will be on this case until the end.

Okay Art, I am partially wrong. How long then, is it going to take LE observing the people they are watching to make one wrong move? How much time do they need. Lets see, we have not cooperating with LE interviews, Man 24 having sex with a 16 year old girl, lets remember facts,,,,Misty was infact 16 when they moved in that trailor together. She turned 17 in DEC. Then, you have the fact that no forced entry…so that leave child endangerment. Especially when Ronald Cummings girlfriend, the babysitter was on a weekend drug binge less than 24 hours before he needed to go to work. He could have asked his mom or Grandmother to watch the children, including his child girlfriend- who was obviously not over her stupor from the weekend before. Misty would talk in the jail cell, shes considered an adult. If only PCSO would have drug tested her, that early morning. I swear, they could of made up something. Without her ciggarrettes she would of freaked in less than 24 hours.
Ronald married Misty to keep her close, and to keep her quiet. Which is why the twit was so giddy over it and he wasnt. Haleigh went missing on Ronalds watch. False move? He’s slicker than melted butter on hot pavement. I give Art, how long? This is pathetic. Trenton Ducket all over again!!! I live in a small rural town too Art, I cant even fart without the local LE smelling it. I just dont get this case anymore. I know what is, is.

Nelson–You are wrong about PCSO, IMO, and that’s from speaking to many of the top cops, from the sheriff to the folks running the investigation. I know it’s hard to understand why it has yet to be solved, but maybe you’ve been watching too much TV; real crimes aren’t always solved in an hour. Real crimes aren’t solved in an hour? Are you kidding me here? (looking shocked and disappointed) So, me sitting here in front of the PC reading every single word anyone types and keeping an eye on the clock, waiting for the end of this, really isn’t doing any good? Well shoot…thanks for putting a screeching halt to my little dream!
Since this obviously isn’t going to be resolved in the next hour, I suppose I can tell you what I know so far..
I know I didn’t do it, I have an alibi , I also know that I’m not badgering LE for information they haven’t reported to the public, because seriously, I think these guys probably have a small clue as to what they’re doing, they do, after-all, wear the badge. I know that “IF” and “WHEN” the time comes that they believe they have something to act on and can get this little baby home, they will. I’m also going to go as far as to say, I’ll not expect them to FAX me before they act, with details, although that would be nice. (hint, hint)
.I know that all of the finger pointing going on isn’t going to be what solves this…nope, what is going to solve this will be when LE completes the job that THEY KNOW HOW TO DO and seriously, nothing you can possibly bicker about, or slam them with, will make it any sooner. I also believe that if a certain Sasquatch type person, named after a snake, (because he tends to slither on his belly and creates havoc to anyone he comes near, ok, ok, THAT’S YOU COBRA..IMO)..would stay the
H E L L out of the these officers way, they’d probably thank the ground you once slithered on! And quite possibly have less to deal with and a better outcome. And finally, I believe that patience is a virtue..and we may not like it, but that’s what we have to have. Along with faith in the men doing their jobs. (this isn’t you Cobra..you aren’t a man, nor are you doing a job, unless panhandling is now listed as employment..IMHO of course) And we can hold out hope and prayers…but losing our tempers, becoming angry, pointing fingers,and bashing others, simply doesn’t get a thing accomplished..it truly is in GOD’S HANDS, not ours, and it is through him, that we will be led to Haleigh..in the meantime, we can give the men and women of LE, a gesture of faith, by allowing them to do their job..and we can continue to “discuss” it in realistic, adult like conversations right here. Minus the assaults and Character attacks.
All of this is in my opinion only of course…and should I figure out what else I know ..All of you will be the first to know!

WOW, sure is alot of just anger and hatred around here, name calling, knife throwing, etc.
Haleigh is missing still, with no answers, and i KNOW from just reading a few articles on here i will be highly attacked, because as a mom myself, i am NOT nor would i ever be sympathetic of Crystal.
I looked at the picture of her riding with Jr. in her lap, and that was completely wrong of her, not once, EVER did i take my child out of the car seat in a moving vehicle, crying, sick, i would offer as much comfort as i could or pull over. Its not only dangerous. it is illegal.
As for the name calling, everyone on this site is “pro crystal” so anyone on the other site is the devil, unbelievable, anyone that does not tow the rope here, and give up all ideas of their own.
I do NOT believe Ronald did anything to his child, nor do i believe Crystal or the “child bride” as you call her did. And if i EVER had ONE ounce of suspicion that my child was in danger? that drugs were in a residence where my child was? etc, i would be calling 911 Anon and let the cops go and find the supposed drugs that Ron was “dealing”. That would take care of the custody situation, even if it meant my child would have to go to foster care, if i felt my child was not safe, i would do everything to get him /her out of that home.

I just viewed my cell phone pictures to make sure I was correct before posting. None of my pictures are clear in the front and blurry in the back ground. They are blurry altogether or clear, so I would love to know what kin of phone KP has. I have never seen that before unless in a moving vechile. Do they think everyone is that stupid? I have lived 5 miles from Satuma for 40 years and can tell you there is not a store or pharmacy around here that has trees like that in the parking lot…… As a tax paypayer along with all the people that care I think we are due the truth. There is not one update on the local news. Do we not need some answers? There is a kidnapper still on the loose around here!!!! That is not good commuciation for a police department. When it is time to vote again people will think back and remember we are all were left in the dark. Not very good! Someone might want to call Dean Kelly and ask what he would do. About the truck found on the Griffis property, the on with crack in it. It is reported to belong to Jesse Watkins and he has not been located.
Well, what ever happened to the “war on drugs?” I seem to remember a few years back that the property owner was responsible for any drugs found on their property, even if it was a tenant. Remember when cars, boats, houses were confiscated by LE if drugs were found in them.
Do they not do that anymore? Or does Florida just not have enough room for all the ones they already have…or has the law changed…or has LE just given up on drugs?
BTY, Art I love your site and blog but you can correct Captain Oblivious without lowering yourself to that blogger’s level of vitriol. Sweeny..Currently I have no dog in the fight when it comes to either side in this case. I’m not biased to either side. Therefore, I can quietly listen to and value, other opinions. As I’ve stated many times “I continue to ride the fence”. So “discussing” isn’t something I have a problem with I don’t feel the need to puff up my chest to appear larger then life, in order to garner other people over to “my side” by arguing, fighting, and finger pointing. What I do tend to have a problem with is when a grown man, puts himself out there as the Golden Boy, the “know all, Tell All”, the..going to track these people down and be the hero, kinda guy, comes to Art’s Web Site and begs for donations to continue his job, and uses “Tugs to the poster’s heart strings” to do it (i.e.: hungry, broke, no food, family) only to turn around and bash him on other boards and on a network radio program. It goes to shows me this “man” has nothing more then an agenda on his mind. It shows me he should, quite possibly be looking a purchasing 2 pairs of sunglasses, sort of speak, one for each side of his face. To go about, manipulating people and asking for their help, then point fingers, verbally assault, and use unprofessional tactics in doing so, doesn’t cause me a great deal of respect for him. So yes Sweeny, I am “For real”, in that I refuse to lend respect, where respect is not due..I also tend to frown on someone using the heart strings of every poster here, in order to receive donations, and when told that couldn’t happen, opts to come out fighting by attacking though any avenue he can find. I’m not currently in a discussion with Cobra surrounding this case, therefore there’s no need for me to try and hear him, to entertain his opinions on anything, I don’t entertain that which I can not respect. “Discussing in an adult, realistic conversation” concerning the many theories surrounding this case, I can not only entertain, but except them, as I have the capabilities of understanding them to be someone’s true belief and opinions, and may find something I could possibly learn from. But a bashing, is nothing more then a weaker personality, trying to gather as many followers as possible, in order to make their particular stand on a subject, more believable, sort of a validation of themselves. Then I found that she is attempting to frame me for crimes… The ASA of Putnam is investigating charges as alleged by Kim P, but I aim to prove she paid the owner of A1 Bail Bonds to frame me for grand theft. As she told my girlfriend, “tell him he won’t win this one” – that he is going to jail.
I ask, “what am I trying to win”? I AM NOT TRYING TO WIN ANYTHING. I simply have some how become like a father looking for one of his children, of which I have five and adopted a sixth, this one.

Cobra, KP of course denies any wrong doing, says she didn’t try to frame anyone, only spoke to the ASA once (and he confirms) and that was to lobby FOR you in the Snodgrass matter, not that it did any good; she now claims she doesn’t want the AAA money to be grounds to prosecute you any further; in fact says she paid the AAA bail owner the $650 in dispute to diffuse the situation. We also know you believe you paid Donna Jaquith AND saved her thousands of dollars to pick up a felon who split; Donna counters that she had to pick the dude up, and pay some guy another $100 for the referral.
Are we having fun yet, kids? This getting way tiring, and so confusing we’re not following it. But it does seem risky for any prosecutor to ask a jury to send you to jail for dusting off an accused child molester, especially if you had bond authority as you say your license proves.
As for KP, she’s saddened to hear Cobra hissing at her again. “We’ll just all have to work it out, or deal with it, each in our own way,” she says.

Instead of all the words–I, for one, would be grateful for some results. You cited “the mantle”and Rev. Grund–well he is a Christian and by association, one might believe you are as well. So how about letting go and letting God assist you in this and leave the petty stuff in your rear view mirror? The truth will come out in the wash. If you have NOTHING re Haleigh’s disappearance, as appears to be the case OR the distractions are infringing upon your capabilities to solve the case, why not cut bait? No shame in your efforts–they are appreciated;and I respect someone standing up for their reputation—but when that “standing up” gets more focus than Haleigh, well it is hard to trust. I wish you the best but honestly am more interested in hearing about HALEIGH and what happened and what can be done to help.

I am curious as to why Cobra’s name is mentioned in conjunction with this case? He has done nothing to help this little girl Haligh. LE doesn’t want him there, nor do the families. He’s made an extreme effort to publicly blame Haleigh’s mother for her disappearance although knowing full well she had nothing to do with it. Why? Vengence on her lawyer who was smart enough to dump him once she saw what he was about. Reseach Cobra. He hasn’t looked for Haleigh in months. The only time he opens his mouth is to ask for money or to trash innocent people. He is an embarrassment to the community, his friends, his family, and fellow PI’s. He is sloppy, loud mouthed, and inconsistent, in-sincere, and unprofessional. Someone mentioned his two-facedness earlier. He wouldn’t know the truth if he fell over it. He doesn’t help victims, he creates them.
Ron and Misty know what happened to Haleigh. LE knows Ron and Misty know this. The clock is ticking, the hour is coming. Soon enough, the real hero’s in this story will be revealed, and many words will be eaten.
Thank you Art for your dedication to this case. You’ve been unbiased, honest, and consistent.

I do understand how my latest post (#72) may appear confusing and yes, even “nuts” and apologize for that. I often type my post in another program, and when I’ve finished, I copy and paste here. Something happened while doing this, and my writing was repeated several times throughout the last post. I didn’t catch the problem until it was sent for posting and was in moderation. I have read that this is wrong , she can testify against him, think it had something to do wtih the fact that she was underage when they lived together (why not get him for statuatory rape to begin with) or that the crime happend before they were married.
IMO there is no doubt that he killed the child, his first reaction in front of the cameras was creepy.
He called the “babysitter” a bitch, he wanted to shoot whoever did this.
Then he protectively put his arms around the “bitch” – she has the goods on him and knows what happened.

Why am I not at all surprised to hear they found crack at the property? That would explain the “seizures” and lots of other things. Crack should not be on a property where children live and I do hope this is looked into. Glad to see LE finally looking more closely at this family.
