Haleigh Exclusive: Mystery Donor Revealed!

“I remember watching Haleigh Cumming’s mother break down in front of the cameras,” says Crystal Sheffield’s mystery benefactor in an exclusive interview with The Bald Truth.
“She was just shaking and sobbing, and talking about how much she missed her daughter, and I kept thinking, ‘This poor lady.’ I couldn’t imagine what she was going through, facing $12,000 in back child support and selling bracelets and t-shirts to raise money to keep people interested in finding her missing child.”
The angel donor asked that her last name not be used, but her first name is Barbara. She’s a Texas oilfield analyst with no children of her own, just a big heart for single, working mothers struggling to get by. She doesn’t tithe to a church, she tells me, but believes in giving back, shunning the big name charities to give 10 per cent of a nice income directly to individuals in need. Crystal Sheffield fit her bill, she says.
“I was just touched, and decided, ‘this is someone I wanted to help.”
So she tracked down Sheffield attorney Kim Picazio, and in April, dashed off the first of three checks that will ultimately go to Ronald Cummings for the care of missing five year old Haleigh and Ronald, Jr.
Thanks to her Texas “angel” investor, Crystal is expected to be free and clear of her child support debt this week.
It’s a circuitous route, with Barbara mailing funds from Texas to Picazio, who deposits it into her firm’s trust account, then dashes off a check to state child support disbursement officials.
When it clears, usually within a week, Picazio tells me she writes a check to state of Florida disbursement officials, who either draft a check for Cummings, or direct deposit it into to his bank account.
After Barbara’s first check for $2,000 arrived, Picazio says she drafted and mailed one to state officials on April 27 for that amount. She says Cummings’ lawyers confirmed it was received, along with a second for $2,100 she mailed to the state on May 13. His attorney’s could not be reached for comment.
Last seek, Picazio says she received the last check from Barbara for $8,317.94, and promptly dispatched it to the state.
“That will pay off Crystal’s child support arrears in full,” Picazio tells me. “It just changes Crystal’s life in so many ways.”
Barbara tells me when she first called, Picazio put her in direct touch with Crystal, who seemed extremely grateful. “She didn’t ask me for anything, just said it should be between me and Crystal.”
Afterwards, she says Crystal called. “She was speechless,” says Picazio, and “so appreciative. This was not solicited, but came out of the blue.
“There are some people in the world who donate to large foundations, and others who donate to individuals they wish to help directly. I think this lady’s gesture and charitable spirit was noble, and was used very directly to help a particular individual in need.”
“I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for single mothers struggling to work and raise their children alone,” says Barbara, who has taken her own sister into her home, a local cop raising a daughter on her own.
In fact, she says she moved into a larger home in the Houston suburbs so they could all live together, and has been gratified to see the burden ease for her sister and her neice.
She’s says fine with the money going to Haleigh’s father, “if it’s money the court says is owed, to take care of the children.”
Barbara hasn’t followed the investigation in detail and isn’t taking sides in the parent wars. “I’m as much in the dark as anyone,” she says, “I don’t know what happened….but there must have been an unsafe situation in the home for this to happen, an unsafe environment.”
Barbara says she’s a regular reader of artharris.com, where she goes for updates, along with Nancy Grace and Jane Velez Mitchell. She did note Misty Cummings’ wild weekend of partying, first reported here, and wonders if “she was so wiped out, she left to get something that night, or was just so tired she didn’t wake up and whatever happened happened.”
Misty has denied both scenarios. “Whatever,” says Barbara, “it seems like an unsafe situation for the kids to have been in.”
As for her charitable style, mystery Texas woman fast on the draw with her checkbook. Barbara says she ordinarily sends checks to friends “in a bad situation, or if I see a family where the parent has lost a job and is struggling. This time, I wound up giving more than normal, but I’d set it aside, and have to remember how fortunate I’ve been. I know money can’t buy you love, maybe it can buy you a little time.”

Art, thanks for the update. A few things bother me about this donation, and her comment that “I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for single mothers struggling to work and raise their children alone.” I have a soft spot as well for “single mothers struggling to work and raise their children alone,” but that’s not the case here. Crystal has rarely ever worked, has had a man in her life pretty much at all times, and wasn’t raising her children at all, most definitely not “alone.” I admire Barbara’s graciousness and generosity, but there really are single mothers out there that fit this bill – women working 2 and 3 jobs who truly are the only person raising their children. I think she should have studied the case more closely before she decided inadvertantly mocked all single mothers who really are deserving, by giving to someone who by her own admission “just doesn’t want to get up out of bed” and take care of her kids. I’m very disillusioned.

I’m just speechless, Art. It’s really kind of this woman to want to help women who work hard to support their children without any help from the fathers. Crystal doesn’t seem to fit that bill. It should have been a clue that someone would fall $12,000+ behind in supporting their children. That’s 48 months worth of child support payments with what she was ordered to pay. And it’s only been that long since she was ordered to pay it. She should have been held in contempt long before she was allowed to ignore a court order for 4 years.

What a kind hearted person this Barbara is. It’s wonderful that there are people like this in the world.
I wonder if she realizes that Crystal wasn’t working to support her children?
The judge ordered Crystal to pay $318 per month in child support for her HaLeigh and Junior in February 2006, per Court documents. According to Art’s article, this donor, Barbara has paid $ 12,417.94. Sounds like Crystal has NEVER paid a dime towards her kids. I’m sorry but that is NOT RIGHT. There is no excuse for that. It isn’t as if she got behind when she had Chloe, she just chose not to support the two children she already had, and that is infuriating. If she were a man, people would be disgusted. Women need to be held to the same standards when in comes to supporting their children as men! She was only ordered to pay the minimum amount of child support – again – per court documents!
Again, it’s great that there are kind hearted people in the world like Barbara, but I find it shameful that Crystal didn’t support her kids.

WOW!!! This Barbara lady is wonderful.What a great thing to help Crystal.I was hoping someone would come along and help Crystal pay off her back child support.Now Ron and his attorney’s can STOP bring up that she is behind.Now what they going to say about her?.

Barbara…I am a single middle aged women with no children, and when I worked, I gave generously to those who needed help. Now that I am unemployed (and struggling)I see people still reaching out and helping people during these rough times. I had to go to the Dr last week, and one night a week the Dr and Nurse give their time for the unemployed. I couldn’t thank them enough!!!For all I have given, I felt I am getting back now.
Doesn’t it feel good to take that burden off of someone and do right for them??

Barbara- I also want to say, thank you for NOT passing judgement on any of the parties here involved. I think Haleigh’s disapearance falls on alot of people who are responsible for her gone missing.
Her Mother, Ron, Grandparents, Neighbors, our System, etc….Ron is innocent of her disapearance.
He is guilty of poor parenting. As is Crystal.
Bring this baby home so her parents can have closure. They BOTH deserve that much.

I know I shouldn’t judge Crystal, but it’s her own fault she hasn’t paid child support, no one else. I wish I could see Barbara feeding hungry children or helping child cancer victims get to dr. appts., or a million other things then to help out a dead beat mother who chose not to support her kids. Nevertheless, Barbara, you are a VERY giving person and you did something that I doubt anyone else in the world would have done.

I guess Ron is going to be the bad guy once again for recieving the back child support. Let’s see if Crystal and her mouthpiece will ask for an accounting of how Ron spends the money.
How is Crystal a “poor lady”? She’s nothing but a DEADBEAT MOM that deserves to be treated the same as DEADBEAT DADS in Putnam County or the State of Florida get treated. Ron isn’t working!.He says he needs to stop working and find his daughter befor he even looks for another job.BULLSHIT he wasn’t even looking for his daughter when she first went missing!.
Well now he has his down payment on a house hes been talking about.I HATE to see this money go to Ron and Misty both of them shouldn’t have this money.I wish there was away to put this 12,000 in a bank account for the kid’s so Ron or Misty can’t touch it.
We all know that the money isn’t going for the kid’s.It will be spent on drugs,cars,going out to eat,and tattoos and god knows what.

I don’t think Ron should have been awarded child support, but it was the Judges’ decision..I am fearful of Jr. still being in Ron’s custody.. With so much disfunction in that household, it is unimaginable how Jr. could still be allowed to live with the Cummings..I hope soon Crystal will be able to gain custody of Jr..Thank you for helping Crystal in her time of struggle, Barbara..You truly have a heart as big as Texas ..Wishing you, your sister, and neice much happiness, and many blessings…

Wow, what an amazing amazing woman. Being a single mother myself, I can just imagine the burden that was just lifted from Crystal’s shoulders thanks to this unbelievably kind gift from an angel. Too bad there aren’t more Barbara’s in the world.

What a wonderful gesture from this woman. I know some will take this and shred it and turn it to a negative thing. I feel the main persons that were thought about here are Haleigh and Jr. The fact this woman wanted to make sure Jr. and Haleigh don’t go without. Yes, it did also help Crystal by catching her up on back child support, but the main reason for this gracious gift was to help the children. Haleigh and Jr. There are unselfish, good people in the world, they are not all bad. I am sure the Lord will return this gift to MS.Barbara in many ways…many Blessing will come her way. Lets not take something positive and turn into something negative. Lets pray that Haleigh is found and that DFS does there job and gets Jr. out of that unsafe environment. This article is so touching. Barbara has made a very warm and sincere gesture. Barbara has given Crystal one less thing to stress over. It gives Ron money to provide for Jr. Barbara is an angel. Her heart is definitely in the right place. Art, thank you for reporting this heart warming article. It just goes to show there is still a lot of good in people.
Crystal can continue to go out to the events and keep everyone aware of Haleigh missing; without worrying about the unpaid child support . Perhaps, Ronald will start joining her in her endeavors to find their daughter.

These parents have been irresponsible and reckless while making babies. These babies have been the victims of these terrible parents. Crystal did not take care of her kids and chose drugs first. Ron, Misty and all the players have a history with drugs. How much did that cost them? They chose this life OVER the kids. I don’t feel sorry for them one damn bit. Crystal have you ever heard of WORK? Thats what we all do to take care of our kids. Rons sure going to have a hayday with that financial downfall. Wow. Lots of drugs you can buy for that bud. We will see how much of that idiotic donation is spent on the children. I will be watching.
To The Donor: I could find many families and children in need of help, who are in a situation by no fault of their own. Crystal should have suffered many years with this debt just as payback for not getting off her ass, putting the drugs away, and taking care of her children. There are no excuses. Maybe Ron can buy some blankets now for his kids.

Wonderful story! What a kind, generous person this great lady is. Crystal was very lucky to have someone care so much and help her get this weight off her shoulders. Someone is watching over her & guiding her..let’s hope this is just the start & her daughter will be found safe & well. I hope Ron will use these funds to aid in the search for Haleigh.

While I agree with you ALL who had kind things to say about this mystery woman Barbara, I also agree with ALL of you who pointed out that Crystal certainly does NOT in any way fit the description of the type of person Barbara looks to help out in times of need!! SO, let me get this straight…. not only did Crystal make NO effort to work, to make any money to PAY for her child (as ordered by the court), but NOW she gets a FREE ride to freedom of debt, STILL NOT PAYING a cent toward her child……BUT IS fightingi for custody because she is the BETTER parent?? Does that about sum it up???? GIVE ME A BREAK!!! She makes all of us women look bad is all I can say! How dare her!! And if there is anyone out there that thinks this is OK…that Crystal never paid a dime for her child, now is PAID in full, still never paying a dime (of her own hard-earned money that is) and has a right to seek custody of the children based on her being a better parent, they need to explain to the rest of us who see the problem with the integrity of this scenario just how this is right!! I doubt though that I will ever be convinced! She actually should be ashamed of herself all the way around. And in my opinion, it is Crystal and Kim’s fault that the spotlight has been taken off Haleigh the day they stopped making this about finding Haleigh and making it a custody battle while she is still out there somewhere! Had this not happened, the focus would still be on the SEARCH for Haleigh and not the CUSTODY of Haleigh! While I am not siding with Ron or saying that he is the model parent in this situation, at least we can say that he has never made this about a custody battle and in fact, even stated so in the very beginning, in order to keep this about finding his daughter, and still to this day has said very little in the way of negative or horrible things about Crystal on national TV like Crystal and Kim have done continuously about Ron! At least that tells me that even long before Ron secured a lawyer, he wanted this to be about finding their child and not about their domestic issues…. no one can honestly say the same for Crystal and all of her phoniness! Her lawyer included! How long do you think it will take before Crystal finds herself back in the hole, behind on child support payments??

OMG!! People try to help other people in a tough situation and somebody still has to judge their generosity. All the money that was collected during the first part of the investigation, what do you think happened to that? I”ll bet Daddy and the stoned step-mom got their share. I hope they find her, I still think Dad married step-mom to find the truth , he will hear it one day, and step-mom will be gone, without a trace.

Helping Crystal with this debt helps all these families, ultimately that is a positive thing. This woman “Barbara” does not owe an explanation to anyone as to why she chose to give. Ronald was searching every day for Haleigh and continues to with in what means he has and what the Police have asked. Keep in mind the Police requested to not search as there are dangerous types in the woods. I have raised an eyebrow at the Sheriff’s media skills; however, I don’t question his knowledge of the area. I don’t question his investigative skills either. I hate to be the one passing bad news for all the Cummings haters, it will come to light it is not Ronald, Misty or the Grandma’s. The rest of the issues are private matters and no ones business. With that a side once again I was watching a crime show. The episode covered the investigation into the Baton Rouge serial killer, Derrick Todd Lee. A Forensics Instructor “Ann Williams” or at least I think that is her name worked with her class & a Phyic in effort to help. The class and the instructor followed leads the Phyic gave them. The Phyic gave the Task force and the FBI a composite of the killer. The task force refused her information. They released a composite and profile, white male etc, Derrick Todd Lee is Black. He is exact as the Phyic seen him. The FBI profiler said he was likely distant and socially inept with Woman. People who knew him & woman that dated him said he was a charmer with woman. The show was not a he said she said, it was the investigators their selves being interviewed in regards to this instructor, her class, and the Phyic. Many officers were displeased with the Task force and FBI tunneling in on only one possibility and not leaving their minds open. There was frustration over the refusal to accept this groups finding. I do not know for sure how many young women were killed after the group gave their findings to the FBI & the task force, I do know it was more than one. Have the authorities there considered getting a hold of this instructor? She teaches at University down there.

After seeing Crysral on TV. and sick on top of it,,,, I went back and read those court papers (over @ over)….I could see a lot more was going on… I don’t care what she did , she was not going to get those kids…
Forty yrs. ago my X did just about the same thing – In court I won bc I had a lawyer… LONG STORY…. My X SAID I WOULD BE SORRY…. He waited about a month and kiddnapped my boys… I did not find them for a year and seven mos… The only way I got them back was through my lawyer and investigator…I was a mess for a long time bc of the abuse… did’t eat, sleep, cryed all the time…

It just kind of makes me sick to see so many of you people praising this woman for giving this money. There are so many ways she could have helped people that really need the help. Ron and Misty are somewhere laughing and jumping for joy thinking they are being rewarded and laughing at this woman. Good Lord Barbara, you did the WRONG thing!!! You are buying those druggies more drugs and cigaretts and booze and no telling what else. Why didn’t she use the money to help find Haleigh?? Makes me sick to see her get praise for stuffing money in Ron’s pockets.

evidently, barbara can’t see a scam through all that oil that’s been in her eye’s. take a look at this. google (celebration of life/haleigh cummings) then hernan e. enriquez/ fun at riverfrount park. look at the photo’s closely.hernan took this photo 2-21-2009 ten day’s after haleigh went missing. come on people wake up. no body, no evidence to suggest that she is not alive. going on 5 month’s. she got her arrears paid off through fraud. people are questioning the haleighbug foundation’s use of donation’s. check out( true crime report/ amber alert’s).

I understand how it looks to people that Crystal didnt pay any of her ordered child support payments. I only saw once in the court records that she paid a small amount. I know how that looks bad on her.
Neither parent did 100% right by the two babies. Like Cobra said, no one has clean hands here. However, now the child support arrearage becomes a non-issue (Thank You Barbara). Everyone knew that there was no way that CS could catch up on that arrearage without an anonomous donar. Now that someone has stepped up to the plate ya’ll get all bent out of shape. The amount never changed, it was always $318 a month for the last 39 months. Since Haleigh was 2 and JR was an infant.
As far as everyone being mad and calling CS a deadbeat- so be it. Ron has the money to catch up on his bills now or re-emburse himself for all the money he spent raising the children full time. I dont care how he spends it. It’s money owed to him, for the courts say he can. So ya’ll should thank Barbara, because Ron wouldnt get it, if it wasnt for her.
However, Ron shouldnt of been given full custody in the first place. He stole those two babies out from under Crystal, truth be told. He did it in a sneaky way. Anyone with any common sense can see how that all played out. It should of been joint custody.

It seems to me that Ron has raised and paid for his children because he loves them. A parent who does not pay child support, shows me, she does not care. You made an inappropriate remark concerning Ron and how he will blow this money. He is the only parent that has raised HaLeigh and Junior and we all know that cost money.
Many here have made an excellent point and that is if it were a man he would be sitting in jail, long before now. Read the court records and you will see that Crystal was ordered to pay have of the medical insurance and day care. In my opinion, she has never contributed to these payments. So, that would mean he paid for these entirely.
Our economy is a disaster and I find it hard to believe anyone would pay someone else’s child suppory. I also find it odd that it would be paid for using three checks.

It is always good to read about the generosity of spirit and kindness of people like Barbara. She did a wonderful thing in a way that helped both of Haleigh’s parents at the same time. I have read the comments that some people are angry that she helped Crystal. They fail to realize that in helping Crystal, this act of kindness helped Ronald more. He does not have a job and surely needs the money. On the other hand some people are angry that he received the money and will blow it away on drugs. It is his money to do with as he pleases and no ones business. And then there are the selected few that are jealous because they feel they are more deserving of a donation. Those posts are comical!

Blah, blah, blah. It all makes me sick. Where is Haleigh? These people need to be in church praying for law enforcement to find her. Unbelievable. This is all a result of drugs and lifestyle. I doubt you will approve this post for your board but at least you will read it and that is my only reason for writing.
I just wasted 20 mins reading posts on your forum board. Why have you opened that forum? It is just a batte field for people to pick a side and fight. Do these people honestly think they are helping to “find Haleigh” as they claim is their purpose by sitting on their tushy behind a computer screen fighting with others doing the same thing? It is insane!!
Not only that but your mod is a slacker. The forum is messy. There should be daily threads and the previous thread locked every day. The mod should not be posting as it makes her appear biased. It is not appealing to any forum when the mod is posting and forcing her opinion with threats of banning those that disagree with her. She is also not well informed of the case. I saw several of her posts in which she is wrong. I hope you are not paying her. If you are, you are wasting your money.
I suggest closing the forum. There are so many violations on it already that it is going to lead to trouble.

Crystal has not been a working mother. Nor should she of had any children, or Ron for that matter. But they did. And Haleigh was a result. I personally think its so nice this women doesn’t stand in judgement and helped out a family.

You know, I think Barbara did a wonderful thing. Forty eight years ago I sure could have used an angel like her! As far as Crystal and her back child support. If I remember correctly when the judge ordered her to pay over $300/month she was only earning minimum wage; there was no way she could have paid the $300 plus each month.
How did her back child support go from $4,000 to $12,000?
As far as how Ron spends the money, I’m sure he won’t have it for long; how does that go… a fool and his money…..

From what I understand Crystal was on drugs for a time. I hope that she gets her life together, and finds happiness. I also hope and pray that she does not continue to have children! It take ALOT of oney to raise a child. I wish her the very best, and hope that they find little Haleigh. However, I don’t blieve this will ever happen. I will always believe that Misty knows what happened. She is shrewd and sneaky like a fox. She has never fooled me. She knows what happened.
Barbara is a precious lady for her generous gift. I just hope that the money will NOT be used for Ron and Misty’s personal gain.. THAT WOULD BE A TRAGEDY!

Barbara, I think that’s way cool and I have in times past put my tithes into direct need situations that crossed my path. Example: a working grandmother waitress raising her grandchildren and needed to get them school clothes and school supplies. Seemed many judged her unworthy of receiving the financial support / gifts, but it felt right to me. It’s not that I lived a life of higher means, it’s just that it was a tithe to me, I wanted to share it.

Art, If you check Putnam County Civil Records you will see that the check Kim P. sent has bounced, and she is claiming ID Theft. What the hey is going on? Don’t tell me she didn’t wait for the check to clear the bank..or did she spend the money….herself. Check it out..seriously. Since you spoke to this donor in Texas, I don’t think she is the one who sent a bad check. You have some investigating to do. Get busy and let us know what is going on. So curious as to know if anyone has even seen Ron, Misty Or Junior lately. There is no updates on their lives. Surely they are not just in their home (with Grandma?) all day. I think we wonder if Misty is pregnant and is Theresa back at her job with the Sheriffs department. I really would like to know answers to these questions. Even with the back pay for child support, surely Ron is in need of a job. Has the division of child and family services completed their investigation? Sometimes I get the feeling that law enforement knows exactly what is going on here and for one or another reason are not sharing. And if it is to protect Haleigh and Junior I’m good with that. Just seems like answers should come soon. It seems like Ron & Krystal would want to be in the public eye for more coverage. I don’t want the end of this terrible situation to be this. Haleigh deserves justice. Or if she did just happen to wandar away, this situation needs some type of closure. Where oh where is Haleigh?

I can’t believe how many people here are criticizing this very kind woman for helping Crystal. Yes, there are many women struggling to raise their children alone, women deserving of help, but, thankfully, most of them don’t have a missing child. Crystal must be in a constant state of panic. That her back child support is now no longer a problem is just one less burden to bear at this terrible time.
No one has the right to decide for someone else who is or is not deserving of help. The critics are welcome to choose a struggling mother they feel is more deserving and send her a check.

The $12,000 is Ronalds to spend as he sees fit. If he is talking about buying a house, that shows his concern for Jr. I’m sure Crystal could have paid him the money she owed him many times from the large donations she received @ the HB center. She will still need to pay child support for Jr. She can probably do that from the intrest on her bank accounts. She has proven that she has no intentions of finding a job.
Barbara is a wonderful lady with a big heart. I just wish she had researched Crystal’s background before donating to her. Someone surly mislead her. Crystal, a single working mom???

Many thanks to “Barbara” if she is reading this. It’s a beautful gesture and hopefully it will put an end to some of the mudslinging at Crystal. Clearly Crystal is not the perfect mom. I suspect she suffers from deep depression, given her inability to get out of bed at times. I hope Kim Picazio, having a higher education, recognizes this and is getting Crystal proper medical attention. I do believe that Crystal loves her children and is in tremendous pain wondering about different scenarios leading to Haleigh’s disappearance. Before we continue with the mudslinging, let’s pause and think what it’s like to walk in Crystal’s shoes.

Wait a minute, I thought Crystal owed like $4,000 in child support? She owes $12,000? So much for blaming it on the recent economy and not being able to find a job. Give me a break, that is years and years of child support the woman never paid. Starting before the economy went bad and she “could not find a job” I would imagine. Also, this could have got very serious for Crystal. That is a LOT of money to be behind in child support. Especially since her payments were low to begin with. I imagine with Haleigh gone they are not going to go down that much either, one child and two is not much difference in amount. So, check back in a few years and wanna bet Crystal will owe the same amount on Junior? She does not work, does not plan to work, and does not plan on paying child support. Unless she changes her ways, she will be back in the same boat a few years from now.

LIttle Haylee Donathan has been found. Haylees mom and Robby Potter have been arrested. The detective thanked publicly Jane Valez Mitchell and Nancy Grace for the media coverage that he felt helped them on this nation wide search and safe recovery. They used digital signs. They put together an enormous team effort of state police and FBI. God bless them all.

I think it’s a wonderful thing Barbara did for Crystal, the one part that ticks me off is that even though this money is owed to Ronald for the back child support, I dread that it’s not the child who is ging to benefit from it…it’s just going to become more pill buying, partying money for Ronald and Misty. If little Jr. is lucky, he might get a new pair of shorts, and a new toy.
12,000.00 is alot of money to get into arears, yet if you look at the spending side of view,it won’t last long. We are not talking about two people with the most common sense, and Misty is young, and in “spend it if you got it mode”
As for Ronald even having custody of those kids is ridiculous, because he initially obtained them unlawfully, and got custody, by lying to the courts aboutCrystals where abouts. He gave a false address for her, (which obviously she didn’t receive her court papers)to make sure she wouldn’t show up for the court hearing !

Neilson, Sandra…I agree…but the court made their judgement on the fact that Crystal didn’t show up for the court hearing, believing her court papers had reached her, which we now know they never did, due to a false address being given by Ronald. So the judge didn’t feel joint custody was appropriate, especially with all of what Ronald said about her and her drug usage. Of course he would never admit to his own drug use. And of course his record of getting into trouble,but never convicted of any of them….because his mommy always helped him with his troubles, and because he is so slick. I don’t wish to diminish the charitable act that Barbara tried to do. However, this money in the hands of immoral drug addicts is only enabling them to continue in their deplorable life style, perhaps leading to something hhappening to the remaining child.
It would have been prudent for Barbara to research the case before making such a generous donation to make sure that her contribution would help and not harm the already horrible situation. She has given them adequate funds for yet another drug drenched, sex orgy weekend like Misty went on when harm came to Hayleigh.
Another thing…. the same few contribute to this site. Judging by the repetition of phrases and content, the same person seems to contribute under several names. It is very apparent which ones are Ron’s friends and family and which ones are Chrystal’s friends and family.
Further, I am concerned about the number of this caliber of people who see parents of missing and murdered children getting fame, money, movie and book deals and appear to try for their fifteen minutes in the spot light.
I don’t mean this to be critical of you Art. It is good that you are trying to keep people focused on this poor missing child. If you do not, the guilty people will get away with it sinc the other journalists seem to be ignoring it.

I can’t believe people are bemoaning the fact that the back child-support is being paid up. Having been a struggling single parent that once fought for child support: I would have appreciated someone stepping up and helping out my low-life ex to get his child support in order! It would have taken a load off of my back in financially caring for my child and it would have taken the worry off my shoulders of dealing with court dates, struggling through paperwork and the red-tape of frustration when dealing with getting the state to press my ex for the money.
Child support is about the child, not about the parents, how dare anyone bemoan a child support tab that was legally registered in a court of family law, being paid by a donor. AT LEAST IT IS GETTING PAID, NOW! That is what counts the most.
Just because people think that Ron may misuse the money is NOT a justifiable excuse for him not to get what is money rightfully and legally owed to the upbringing of his children. Just because Crystal got behind on her child support doesn’t mean she deserves help in fixing the situation. Helping her means helping the children (well, child, now that Haleigh is missing).
Barbara, I commend you for your effort to help out. It takes a big heart to step up and do what you are doing. Bless your giving soul!

Haleigh Cummings disappeared from her father’s home in Putnam County on Feb. 10 and an Amber Alert was issued. More than 4,000 tips have come in, but there have been no confirmed sightings.

Give me a break. Crystal has not paid child support at all? That is what this amount indicates. She never worked or paid to help care for her children. So what if Ron will get the money. It is owed to him. Maybe if he had the child support he would not have had to work the night shift “”because it paid a bit more”. It would not surprise me if this “mother” had something to do with this.

Someone filed a complaint on Haleighbug. They say photo’s were photoshopped to solicit funds. Other reasons are that they say money is for searches but have funded none and the website said money goes to Crystal.
After this complaint, Haleighbug has stopped taking donations on the website. To bad they probably have no way to tell how much money they have collected under false pretenses.

The news made it seem like the police and FBI had a tip that made them go search Crystal’s home.That wasn’t the case they had no tips on ANYTHING!!!!.Crystal and her mom wanted the police and the FBI to search their home to clear their name.Ron is going around saying Crystal took Haleigh and did something to her.This is what MYFOX Orlando said cause they were down there talking to the police and FBI and Crystal.

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) – Search teams have surveyed the property belonging to relatives of a missing 5-year-old girl in north Florida.
About 40 investigators from several law enforcement agencies searched the Baker County home of Crystal Sheffield, who is the mother of 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings and her grandmother, Marie Griffis.
Investigators said they were no specific tips which led them to search the property, but were asked to do so by the family. Capt. Dominic Piscitello of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office added that the family has, in the past, buried horses, goats and other animals on their property and they wanted to “clear their names” in any wrongdoing.

The police said Haleigh’s mom and grandma asked LE and the FBI to search their home and whatever else they wanted to search to clear their names,So LE and the FBI knows they don’t have Haleigh.It was their idea the police and FBI didn’t go out there thinking Crystal had Haleigh or did anything to her.I knew Crystal didn’t do anythijg to Haleigh.She wants to help any in anyway she can.And if it’s to clear her name so LE and the FBI can move on and look at other people that is what she has to do.

I am amazed at the people who have stated that Crystal is distressed about owing back child support. IMO, Crystal couldn’t care less. If she was worried about it, she would have gotten her lazy butt out of bed, gotten a job and paid it. If Ron had owed her that, she would be screaming to high Heaven. He would no doubt be in jail.
This was a nice thing for Barbara to do but I wish she had researched Crystal, (who IMO, looks still to be on drugs and looks to not have any ambition at all). Instead, this money could have been given to more than a dozen struggling single moms who are working every day to raise their children without a man in the home such as Crystal’s stepbrother/lover. Chad has said he has no intention of paying anything to help Ron. I got very bad vibes from seeing Crystal. I do not like her mom nor her lawyer. I don’t know any of Haleigh’s relatives and IMO, none of the family, on either side, should be raising any children. I would like to see Ron’s kids sent to some far away state to some loving family who will raise these beautiful children properly without drugs and criminal activity in the homne which all the relatives seem to be into.

Too bad a bulletin board with Haleigh’s picture on it was not paid for with some of the child support money. There’s lots of bulletin boards in Florida. That’s how that other missing little girl was found in California.

I am following up on the “identiy theft” and “uncollected funds” with Putnam County Court House.
Someone posted on Topix, with the “in the know info about Kim”..claims that Kim wrote a two dollar check for court copies and this is the check that bounced…not the child support.
Now, I am not buying that. Why would the court cite Crystal and Ronald’s record for copies an atty was buying. It doesn’t work that way, and you know it too.
Kim is appearing more shady as time goes on.
Do you know if Marie and Crystal have fired her? According to Marie’s Twitter…she is not speaking very highly of Kim right now. Says, don’t believe her.
Please check this all out. If Kim spent that money from Texas, she should be disbarred.

First, Barbara from Texas confirms the money reached its destination, as do Ron’s lawyer.
In between trying to cover the biggest celebrity death story of the year, on and off planes, I managed to dig into the rediculous two dollar check scandal some of you are obsessing over…and will try to get to the search of the Griffis property soon…
For those who have been blowing up a $2 check into a Putnam County Bernie Madoff… The check did not bounce, says KP, who adds, and I tend to agree, had our diggers done more digging, the might have learned…
KP indeed wrote a $2 check for copies of Crystal’s itemized child support payments, then alerted her bank of a computer breach and filed police reports with Broward County over possible purloined passwords and burgled accounts from a hacker whose intrusions left cyber fingerprints. According to KP, her bank put a hold on all checks from that account. She alerted all creditors, including PC.
Authorities produced a log of a third party that hacked into her home computer for four hours in April, a cyber breach that she says is still under investigation. Passwords were changed; accounts were shut down, new ones opened.
Then a new wave of checks went out, including a second $2 check to the Putnam County clerk for copies of Crystal’s itemized child support, she explains, in an exclusive interview with artharris.com.
Here’s what she told us:
“The check for $2.00 did not bounce. We called all people we had sent out checks to, including the Clerk, as my bank account could have been compromised. The check was placed on hold by the Bank. We sent the Clerk a replacement check for the $2.00 from either the new account, or it could have been a bank check – I can’t remember. People on your site were saying the check had “bounced” and thought it had something to do with child support. This is not true. The child support checks were from my firm’s trust account. I have not bounced any checks from our trust account, and that would be a serious matter. Those accounts must be carefully handled. We call and confirm all deposits have cleared before writing anything from that account. The final check from the donor has been received by the Disbursement Unit, and cleared my trust account on June 24, without incident.
“Lots of hoopla for nothing,” she goes on.
“If these people could walk in my shoes….having to shut down accounts, order new credit and debit cards, changing all of the passwords every other day, spending money to get people out of my computer, etc. etc. It’s bullshit. They immediately jump to the wrong conclusions, and there is usually very simple, legitimate, explanations for most things that happen in life. The Clerk notations were proper, and reflect the hold on the check due to possible bank fraud on my account. I really don’t have any tricks up my sleeve, I just want to live my life, continue to act properly and work on my client’s family law case, and stay well above the conspiracy theorists. I do not take phone calls anymore from “the public” and I will not answer emails asking questions about the case. I have been burned too many times with that, and at this point, myself think that most of society is up to no good. Skewed outlook, huh? – but well deserved. I’m sure it will pass, but for now, I just have a permanent scowl on my face all day long.
Prior to this case, no one had ever accused me of any impropriety, dishonesty, or scandal. No one – no opposing counsel, judge, friend, client – no one in my entire life has ever accused me of the things that these people dream up. Tell these people to leave me alone, stop trying to figure out if I bounced a check or am involved in some silly corrupt scheme, and ask themselves if any of that has anything to do with Haleigh Cummings.
They should look at themselves with such scrutiny. If I took all of the donor’s money and went on vacation to Hawaii with it, why would they be affected? I’d be disbarred, and probably arrested. So why don’t they just stop asking “the obvious”, such as the repeated emails I get that ask to confirm whether LE searched UNDER Haleigh’s trailer. HELLO?! Ya don’t think? These people are ridiculous, and jump to accusations of wrongdoing at the site of ANYTHING or any information in this case. I have just had it. I just don’t care anymore. I don’t care to even monitor the blogs anymore, and my staff members have been instructed to stop monitoring them. They are ridiculous at this point. And I just don’t give a damn what their ludicrous theories are. Tell them that this is probably one of the last explanations I will give their nosy, insidious allegations. They have burned this candle out. No wax left.”
As for any more demands we should investigate rediculous suspicions over alleged two dollar check scandals, don’t expect any more penny ante probes, but do expect to be deleted. It’s an insult and a waste of time. –Art

One last comment ART, No where on the court record does it say the amount is TWO DOLLARS…..that is hearsay reported by a poster from Indiana.
Ronald may well have his money, but, the court’s check wouldn’t bounce. Kim’s would. There is a lock on the account for uncollected funds.

I can see your point and agree with much of what you said, but you also need to look at the other side, I believe a great injustice was done to this mother by a system that is corrupt in many ways. This, at least, evens the playing field in many ways. No, I do not know any of these people, only in what I have read extensively and know about small town corruption.
I would take heart in the fact that someone who has made contributions like this in her lifetime has weighed the facts before making her decision. I am sure it was not an easy one.
There are no “winners” in this situation except maybe for little “Butterbean” and, if our prayers are anwsered, dear HaLeigh.
All we can really do is hope that justice will win out in the end for these children!

J: great idea. I covered the BR serial killer and as I recall, it was someone they’d interviewed or had on a list and failed to zero in on until the case broke, dozens of women over the years victims.

Cindy, that was a WONDERFUL post and I totally agree with you. I don’t think that Art or Spunky recieve all the thanks they deserve. I wouldn’t have either job for any amount of money! So I’m with you all the way Cindy. THANKS ART AND 2SPUNKY for your hard work and dedication in all your stories but especially for any reporting you do on HALEIGH, for keeping her in the news. As I understand it, the forum moderator was extremely fair, cajoled and coddled, urging you nicely to tone it down, gave you more chances than a cat has lives to be decorous and treat others civilly. I’ll be happy to have you put comments here, and we’ll see how it goes, if you like. But I’ve given my moderator the authority to keep the boards running fair and square and feel she’s doing a fine job, putting in more hours than most people working two jobs.
Look, I hate to see fine contributors banned, but there’s got to be consideration for others, even if they disagree with you. Why not do some reflection, stay warmed up here, and take it up with her in a few days. Tx

Art- you are mainly the voice of reason as far as reporting this case. In many ways, you have been more than fair. You give some, including myself, reason to pause and reflect. I am one of those people Art, that wants the truth- no matter what that truth is. Truth can be painful to some, even dangerous to expose. But it must be told. Please Art, listen to your heart and your good mind. No one is totally right about everything, not even myself.
Keep the integrity with this case as you have time & time again in other writings. I know there are some things perhaps you dont want to visit. But if theres any chance that there is something awry with any part of this case, you must be conflicted with reporting it to the public. But it must be told. Give it to the people straight up. I have been very impressed with how you’ve handled all this. I am not a member of your forum. I’d like to be, there are a few nice people… But I dont feel that is where you find the gold in a case. The nuggets are in wonderful pieces of Journalism like you have provided here. You’re out there in the field getting dirty. You are appreciated by many I know who don’t feel they need to be part of the divisive lovefests goings on the websites. We sit on the side lines, taking notice of the littlest of things you’ve placed at our feets. Haleigh’s case deserves Peace & Justice, she deserves the truth. Don’t stop digging to find that for her. Do not allow a select few burn you out.

Noreen; yes i do believe the little girl in hernan’s photo is haleigh.i believe she is still with the adult in the photo. the (2) toned van is in the next photo showing a partial florida tag. if it’s not then i’m mistaken. i ran across the photo in march 2009 while searching street pic’s of palatka fl.

As for you, Rose Red (post #143), I’m sorry you feel slighted by the fact that you were banned, though I did so only after multiple attempts to have you tone down your comments, multiple posts removed after having been reported and reviewed for content, and multiple second chances were met with “these are my opinions, and I won’t apologize for them…if people don’t like my posts then they don’t have to read them.” With that, I’ll simply allow those that read your posts (both here and in the forum), as well as those that hit the moderator button on so very many of them, to judge for themselves based on your comment to me here, as well as the comments you’ve made to and about me (one such comment posted below from SM) to judge for themselves whether you deserved to be banned or not. Basically in the last paragraph it sounded as though he was between a rock & a hard place on me being banned .. I understand he hired her to do a job & if he undermines her authority then their working relationship isn’t going to work out .
He told me to give her a few days & get back in touch .. All I know is that ARTs site is as much as my site as it could ever be 2Spunkys & would like for him – ART to lay some ground rules down on his moderator as to exactly what it is that requires a poster to be banned ..
I know for one that she had no business banning me while some of the Yahoos there continuiously run their yappers for absolutely no other purpose other than being obnoxious .. But I guess he will see when his forum has increasingly decreased numbers of members either joining , returning, participating or an increase of his loyal contributors being banned all together from his site ..

The Bald Truth forum has taken off and now has a life of its own, thanks to all our dedicated readers and posters…At times, you will get on each others’s nerves, even cross the line, but a ban means you went waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over the line of decorum and fair play. This is a work in progress, not scientific, and often a judgment call, and I find Spunky’s judgment outstanding. She’s gotten us through some turbulent seas, and is steering the forum in a solid, and positive direction. Again, I don’t know many task force types who would admit to reading your ideas, but they do and we appreciate what they can tell us when they can and why they can’t tell us what they won’t…–Art

**P.S.S. – regarding my post directly above, I might also add that of the 7 people who have been banned from Art’s forum since I became moderator, 5 of them have re-registered under different names, and post daily within the guidelines set forth by Art (and yes, 2 of them know that I know who they were, and who they are now…the other 3 will most certainly know with this post). My banning people isn’t enjoyable to me, nor is it meant as a personal affront, or a means of keeping them from posting their points of view. Rather, it’s a necessary evil when Arts wishes, as well as the TOS of his site, are being overlooked.

In a much more serious note,.. It is hard to believe that Kim Picazzio would use an issue with properly restraining the children in the car against Ron ,.. While she snaps a shot of her client in the same position & plasters it up in front of a worldwide audience ..
When is PCSO going to hold a press confrence regarding the current status of Haleighs case ? ..
I understand PCSO needs to follow leads & clear family members where they can , but wouldn’t their efforts be best suited for leads that they actually felt were priority ..
If they found time to search the Griffis property was a more promising lead being looked over or are they scraping the bottom of the barrel with leads now ..
This is absolute insanity that you say that the PCSO are waiting & watching for the wrong move by those under suspicion .. Is that a tactic they are using to try & unsettle the people – Ron Cummings & Family etc – into ???
If Ron & family are suspects then why not out & say so,..

You are doing an amazing job as referee…As you said, we hate to lock anyone out of our spirited discussions; it’s a smart crowd and while some theories are out there, a top law enforcement official working the case tells me he reads you every day, here and the forum, just in case, and runs what strikes him as unique by others to make sure nothing was missed.
They get a good laugh at some of the out there theories, but find these forums –and BNN roundtable — entertaining and occasionally worthwhile. Kudos, Simon! Top cops like your show, even Cobra and TJ’s rants!

Hey, Rose, I support Spunky. Period. She has to make tough calls, but I truly believe she gives folks a chance and is fair; she’s tireless and dedicated and smart as a whip…Her media background and experience blows me away. One day, I may ask her to post her CV for all to see. She hardly fell off the turnip truck. So know if I wasn’t behind her 100 per cent, she wouldn’t be here, and I appreciate folks working with her and each other to make this place and the forum a safe place to express ideas on all sides without attacking each other personally, or looking for demons because you’ve got a chip on your shoulder about something. I found your site by seeing you on Nancy Grace ,.. I came here & posted because I was hopelessly obsessed with the apparent abduction of a child that lived not so far away from my own home ..
Little Miss Haleigh Cummings is just 1 of the many children I have watched disappear, & many other children even worse when we would finally find out what had happened to them… But Haleigh is the first that I ever logged in & posted my feelings, opinions, & ideas on ..

…I am a caring individual who has spent many hours both on & off the computer cultivating ideas as to what may or may not have happened to precious Haleigh.
I make no apologies to anyone other than to the Cummings for wildly running off at the mouth on this site when this case was in it’s infancy ..
It’s not that they don’t give many reasons for someone to be able to presume that they are guilty but even with those issues aside I felt it was a slam dunk case & waited feverishly daily for an announcement of arrests being made & that day never came ..
As more information poured in regarding the lifestyles of the Cummings I started to see things from a different perspective than I formerly did ..
While others MANY OTHERS saw it as even more proof of guilt, I saw it as a wide opportunity for just how many possible suspects & motives people might have for taking this darling child from her bed in the middle of the night..
So with that,.. Ron, Crystal, Junior, & all the rest of Haleighs family I hope that one day very soon that the person who stole your heart will return her to you safe & sound .. & If that cannot be the case , that the monster who is responsible for this crime is PROSECUTED to the full extent for what they may have done with her .. Tim, after reading your “articles” for the past 6 weeks, I have to be honest and tell you I’d be humiliated and ashamed to call yourself a journalist. I just read your most recent “slanderfest,” and having 20+ years experience as a photographer that daily uses Photoshop, as well as having done the photography on 3 published books, I can tell you without fail that the photos in question have not been doctored. How many years in photography do you have under your belt? How many books have you published? If you’re going to take it upon yourself to use blackmail and intimidation tactics (per your words in your most recent “article”), I’d suggest you check with more than one source….
You’re a joke among the professional theater, and with each and every “article” you post, you prove that your IQ doesn’t even come close to those you continually slander and harass. I think it’s time people take a quick look into your sordid past, just to see what a nutcase they’re truly dealing with. What’s funny to me is that you consider yourself a journalist, when in the “real world” in which the majority of us live, whenever someone asks what the source is regarding information they repeated from one of your “articles,” they immediately roll their eyes and laugh when it’s confirmed that you’re the source.
Congrats on making yourself look like more of a fool. One can only hope that you are sued shirtless for your behaviour.
