On Monday night, Jane Velez Mitchell featured artharris.com scoops about the Haleigh Cummings case, this one featuring a co-worker who told us exclusively what he says he heard Ron tell Misty when she called to say his five year old wouldn’t go to bed…
“Just whip the little brat…”
That’s what fellow PDM Bridge operator Eric Zastrow told me in an exclusive phone interview that Cummings told Misty, then said Dad was sugary and sweet in another conversation with his beloved five year old. Then the live-in, 17 year old babysitter he would soon marry reported Haleigh had vanished while she was sleeping early Feb. 10.
According to Cummings, he learned she was missing when he got home from work about 3:30 a.m. and exploded at Misty with profanity. Police sources tell me he appears to have a solid alibi, that he was at work for his full shift, backed up by fellow workers and pings from the cell towers around the PDM Bridge’s Palatka plant.
While Cummings’ Palatka lawyers strangely damned our report about what police told me appears to be a solid alibi–he was at work–in a press release, they declined to elaborate on what they called inconsistencies and hearsay in the story because they didn’t want to prejudice the investigation.
In an exclusive interview, Captain Dominic Piscatello, head of major crimes for the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, told me Cummings had been invited to speak with investigators this week, and planned to visit the station with this lawyers.

I’m assuming everyone who hates Ron has already posted GET JR AWAY NOW..BLAH BLAH BLAH….but let me tell you one thing…I was raised in a family of 5 kids mom raised us all on her own and boy oh boy did we get spanked..whooped is a spankin firm on the butt flat hand…no beatings ever took place in our home and all of us turned out very well adjusted I beleive because we were disiplined.I think some people think that most homes in the U.S and non spanking homes but you are sadly mistaken.I’m assuming that this guy who was obviously not busy working overheard part of a convo and is saying what he thinks he heard.he may have said whoop her…a whoopin…not a beating in my mind just a firm spanking…thats even if this allegation is true…as for Ron being sugary on the phone to Haleigh I beleive this man loved his daughter by first accounts by the mom Crystal…he was a very loving father…don’t beleive the hype people!THIS is crap…gawd the things people say!+)HALEIGH come home soon!

it feel like haleigh, was being abuse, how long we dont no. i no crystall have said something about this abusement about ron.misty sounded hysterical when she called one night weeks before the 17 year old baby sitter reported his daughter haleigh, had vanish while he was at work and she was asleep with the kids. a recall fellow crane operator Ericc Zastrow 32 years of age.he remember MISTY called him in TEARS because the little girl was giveing fits and he told her WHIP HER JUST WHIP HER AND MAKE HER BE QUIET. What if your phone is off? It won’t pick up pings correct?
We know that Misty said she tried calling him several times that morning and he wouldn’t answer.
He may “appear” to have an alibi but I am still going to hold with my original suspicions. There must be reasons why they want to meet with Ronald and his attorney.
I also found it strange that whenever Ronald was asked important questions, he was quick to answer “I don’t know, I wasn’t there.
My gut tells me we have not heard the last about the alibi. Sorry for being so skeptical, but something just doesn’t feel right.
Keep up the great work! Please keep us updated about NayNay. I hate to see so many young ppl throwing their life away using drugs. You would think the parents would tell them this is not the path to take, especially after their years of usage.

I WAS SPEAKING TO A RESIDENT OUT OF PUTNAM COUNTY. THEY SAID THAT A PERSON WENT TO LE BACK IN THE SAME WEEK THE DOOR WAS REMOVED FROM THE TRAILER OF RONALD CUMMINGS.THEY STATED THAT PRIOR TO RONALD CUMMINGS MOVING INTO THIS MOBILE HOME THERE WERE NO KEYS TO THIS MOBILE HOME. THIS MEANS RONALD WAS TELLING THE TRUTH ABOUT INSTALLING THOSE LOCKS HIMSELF. THE RESIDENT ALSO STATED THAT LE WAS INFORMED THAT THOSE CINDER BLOCKS HAD ALWAYS BEEN THERE. THEREFORE IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE FOR ANYONE ELSE TO HAVE HAD KEYS TO THE MOBILE HOME, UNLESS RONALD GAVE THEM ONE. THE FINDINGS OF LE WAS NO FORCED ENTRY. I AM SURE LE WANTED TO CHECK THAT DOOR THOUROUGHLY AND THIS IS WHAT HAS LED THEM TO BELIEVE THAT THIS WAS NO STRANGER ABDUCTION. JMO ON LES’ BELIEF.

All this he said she said. If she did call him having problems with the little girl, that’s not against the law. If he says “whip her” ,that’s not against the law. Maybe Ronald and Misty are telling the truth and the REAL kidnappers are laughing their heads off because everyone is suspecting the parents. Maybe Misty’s story had two versions because at the time she was high. She was sleeping really good and didn’t hear when someone took poor Haleigh. Maybe they should start investigating new people.

You make good point about Crystal not part of this interview. I would hope if this interview is to review case with police that police would have invited Crystal but this case is way past what should be done in these events. I hope police find the answers soon.
This whole story about coworker bothers me. It is hard to know what conversation was on other end of phone. Unless, Ron had Misty on speaker so whole office could hear, you can’t assume what was in those words ‘just whip’. I myself don’t like those words but it doesn’t mean he was approving of behavior that could cause harm to Haleigh. JMO
All of these people coming out against Ron are very hard to take at face value because they are shady too us law abiding citizens. I hope this coworker interviewed went to police if he honestly thought something harmful with said conversations. Yet nobodys talking?????

It’s quite nice of LE to “invite” Ron to come talk to them…Any other guy, in any other town, with Ron’s illegal activities, would not be invited, they would be demanded to appear before LE..Why the kid gloves? I live in Texas, and I’ll guarantee he would have been locked up long before now, if what is being said about him is true..Unless he is living the life of a hermit, it shouldn’t be hard to catch him in the act of illegal activities…I think LE knows all about Ronald Cummings, but can’t/won’t arrest him. I read and head that Misty lied about what movie Haleigh and JR. were watching that night Haleigh went missing.LE didn’t find the movie Haleigh and Jr were watching that nignt inside the DVD player like Misty said.There was no movie in there.LE said there is no way Haleigh could have reached the DVD player to change the movie or take it out.
This is my theory on what I think happened to Haleigh.
(Art said) Misty called Ron crying because she couldn’t handle Haleigh.She wasn’t listening to Misty and she wouldn’t go to bed and giving Misty fits.
Misty probably got mad and gave something maybe a (pill) to put Haleigh to sleep and something happened.
I remember Misty said in the beginning of this crazy case she was washing blankets because Haleigh peed on hers.Something happened to Haleigh Misty put Haleigh in the blankets took Haleigh some where.
Took the blankets back to the house with her so if some some one did find Haleigh the blankets wouldn’t lead back to the house.Misty came home and washed the blankets so any of Haleigh’s DNA or any body fluids wouldn’t be on the blankets.
On a news interview Misty said “some one took the van with the blankets “.I will post Misty’s news interview and the 911 call.
Art do you know if LE took the blankets for any evidence?.I hope LE down there were smart enought to take the blankets.Just becuase they were washing doesn’t mean all the DNA or body fluids would be washed out.
I learned that from the Casey/Caylee Anthony case.When Cindy Anthony washed Casey’s pantes from her car that smelled like a dead body.LE still got DNA and evidence from Casey’s washed pants.
Art can you PLEASE check and ask LE if they took the blankets Misty was washing that night for evidence.I hope they did.That would be a good evidence.Thanks Art for everything you do for Haleigh and all of us.Thanks for keeping us all up todate on the case.

Watching this all the way from Eastern Canada , and hoping and praying that the little girl, Hayley, will be found alive.
Not wanting to judge, but one can’t help noticing, what a low functioning group we are dealing with , little girl , if found, and the boy , should be taken away and placed with a decent family , away from these horrible influences , then might have a cahnce at turning into productive citizens down the road .
As things stand now, I don’t see one single role model in these familes , WOW ! What an uphill battle . Mickey D

Has anyone looked into the possibility that the child was “sold”.

That’s sort of what Hank’s son told Cobra, but the story keeps changing, and police tell me they are investigating and may turn it over to the drug unit to check into prescription med violations. But the accusation is pretty week because Hank asked for it and gobbled it right down, according to what he told the deputy.

They Magically slid through the back door with no key.
They bravely turned on a light, waited until their eyes adjusted to the light, then went in the same room with Misty and JR and took the sleeping child.
They Were very clean kidnappers as they put the child’s shirt she was wearing into the dirty clothes.

Amanda so the fact he left a 17 year old druggie that sleeps around with anything is okay with you. Cause that’s really who you want to leave your kids with that you love so much. Okay, next Haleigh is 5 and has some issues cause of her parents lifestyle I’m sure. So just beat the hell out her is the answer. Amanda you really should study the laws again BECAUSE IT IS AGAINST THE LAW. Maybe Misty was mad cause she couldn’t go out on a bender and haleigh was upset cause she didn’t even have a blanket to go to bed with. That’s how much they take care of those kids.
My question is I have heard rumors of the DCF worker being related somehow to Ronald Cummings. Art if you could clear that up for me I would appreciate it.

The reason I thought he was guilty was because of his actions & what has been reported about the night – early morning Haleigh went missing .. The Money, Marriage, Lights on in the House, A door that was locked before he went to work but found open by Misty .. Everyone knows the details..
I wouldn’t be surprised if it came out he did it .. BUT .. AT SOME POINT OVER THE LAST WEEK OR TWO .. I had a change of “heart” .. I went back & looked over everything that has been posted by mostly Art ,.. but bits here & there also .. Along with reading over the theories , & everyones opinions .. etc.. etc.. & I JUST DON’T THINK HE IS DIRECTLY INVOLVED with Haleighs disappearence ANYMORE ..

Oh for gosh sakes where are the drug enforcement people if it is common knowledge there is so much going on involving drugs.None of this makes sense.
I think LE will be responsible if JR comes up missing they need him in a safe place if things are this bad.If that were my child I woulld be standing at the court house or someplace yelling for justice.
Just A thought can the people on here get a march going around the court house protesting the fact nothing seems to be being done to arrest these folks and demand answers

I agree it is a crime in itself how Ron Cumming’s has been treated by the media. It is a witch hunt. He loved his daughter and that is obvious. He had custody of his children. The mother (and I use that term lightly) did not know anything about her own daughter. If she had such issues with Ron Cumming’s why didn’t she act sooner. If Ron Cumming’s abuses his kids DFS will take them away. So, why did Crystal have to go on television with photos of a playground accident and call it abuse? You could tell from the get go that Marie Griffis was going for Ron Cumming’s throat. A white trash smack down that was going to get worse.
Who is she to bring up past drug use by the dad when she has been convicted of running a drug den? Now she blames Chad’s ex. If Chad Griffis has custody of his kids than their mother must have really fucked up so bad that she could not have custody. I do not think that is something to be proud of. Getting custody because your ex is unfit.
Crystal has showed she has no brain. Putting the baby on Geraldo.

I do not think it is strange that the attorney dammed your report. He was at work. You turned that into a question and made it seem like we will find later he was not. LE has said he was at work from the start. If LE thought Ron Cumming’s hurt his child I believe they would have taken his cars. Almost all you reporting has been against Ron Cumming’s. You site is full of Crystal lovers and abused women that see Ron as an abuser. When in fact he is probably typical of any man in this area. So, you cater to you readers and bash Ron Cumming’s. Many of your readers say they have something to do with haleighbug. So, why would you be surprised when his lawyer does not like something you wrote? I would be surprised if Crystal’s lawyer did not like something you wrote. That would be a SHOCK.

This is what I’ve suspected happened. I know lots of times I call my husband when my kids are misbehaving….
I think Misty probably did call Ron complaining that his kids “Haleigh” was misbehaving or possibly peed in the bed. I think she lost it and hurt her, maybe unintentionally killing her…. But also suspicious Ron was involved.
But Art, thank you so much for not letting this story die! It’s been so quiet with no news. Hard to understand what’s going on.

It should not matter. It is ILLEGAL to give others your RX meds, especially if the RX is a narcotic. So – Ron should be arrested.

How are ALL of these things true:
Ronald harmed Haleigh before going to work…and then Misty called crying just to throw off his co-workers.
Misty was passed out while having sex with a black man on the couch and Haleigh saw so Misty got rid of her and then called Ron crying because Haleigh wouldn’t go to bed?
White Boy Greg, who does not look black, took her and Junior saw the whole thing.
Ronald never went to work, but he was overheard by a coworker talking on the phone the night in question.
NayNay and Amber lured Haleigh out of the house, they are NOT black are they?
Junior and a black man tried to kidnap Jordan…only they didn’t.
Ronald tried to kill Misty’s father, now Misty’s father is mentally ill?
Haleigh was sold after Ron went to work so that Misty could get more drugs. I guess all the stuff she got over the weekend without selling a child wasn’t enough.
IMO, no one here knows a damn thing about what happened but you all seem to believe everything that is written.

Anything Ron or his family does or says, is going to get magnified…………scrutinized…….. and blown WAY out of proportion!
The same with Crystal and her family……….doesn’t mean they’re responsible of any of this.
I still think that after Misty made the comments to Amber……and partying all week-end with Greg and Nay-Nay, she was set up.
Hopefully the little girl will be found safe somewhere.
And……..I’ll bet LE is doing all they can. Just because they aren’t out seeking cameras everyday looking for a photo opt, doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t all doing their jobs.

This is just my opinion, I think Misty was setup by Ron and his family. This is why, Ron didn’t care what Misty was up to on her wild weekend. Ron and or his family hurt and/or may have killed Haliegh. Ron and Misty made a deal, Ron would stand by Misty and marry her, but Misty would have to act as if Haliegh went missing on her watch. This is the only reason I can see for Ron not caring about Misty’s wild sex and drug filled weekend. They live in a very small town with a small circle of friends and there is no way Ron would not know what Misty was up to during that weekend before haliegh went missing. Ron and his family act as if they OWE Misty for acting as if she was the last one to see Haliegh alive. They all know what Misty did and yet they are standing by her… why? I feel like they used Misty and she was willing to go along with the story just to cover for Ron and/or his family. Think about it?

I wouldn’t be so quick to compliment Tracy since she misread your article to mean that the “hysterical” phone call from Misty complaing that Haleigh wouldn’t go to bed occurred the same night Haleigh went missing…
The fact that there is a witness to at least one phone call from Misty like thia in the MONTHS (NOT that night) before Haleigh went missing adds credence to the possible child abuse angle of Haleigh’s disappearance.

Art- today is the first time in long time since I’ve gotten a touch of the flu(not SWINE). Be patinent…. I have been lying here thinking…. Missy. Missy, missy,,, Did haleigh wet her matress, sheets & night cloths that night or the night before? IF AT ALL….YOU DID NOT NOTICE IT WHEN YOU GOT HER UP FOR SCHOOL? Did she go to school without a bath. Didn’t you make her bed? I just wondered what you did all day? You said you put a sheet over her & then cryed..Did you talk to her about wetting the bed? Do the kids usually sleep in your room? I hope not. Haleigh’s matress was so close to your bed, it is a wonder (half asleep),you didn’t fall on her. How could you not see she was gone? If I’m wrong, I owe you an appaulogy… But did she even pee the bed or was there something else going on? I hope LE puts you in a room for about 4days, and makes you tell every minute for the last mo. that Haleigh was there. Thats without Ron and family…. Are you living with yourself okay?

If we start arresting parents for swatting or busting their kids bottoms & calling them a brat ,.. Then I better prepare myself for 3 meals & a cot ..
From the alleged overheard conversation ,.. He says what he says ,.. BUT at the end he says .. Or just put a movie in for her.. It doesn’t sound like much BUT .. it shows something to me ..
The biggesst problem I have with the entire issue is that he allows other people to discipline his children .. I do not .. He could have gotten on the phone with Haleigh & explained the situation & probably have ended it right there ..
There is a HUGE difference between discipline & abuse ..
STORY TIME :
I was at the store the other day & had one of my small children old with me .. I had no one to watch the 3 yr old & had no choice other than to take them because my older child needed materials for a school project ..
I prepared myself in the car for what I was going to be up against .. & Sure enough I didn’t even get them out of their car seat,.. trying to put them in the buggy they started ..
I was doing what I needed & could see people making the faces to each other .. You all know the looks I’m talking about .. Eye raising, smerky smiling to one another , etc..
I get to the front of the store & my CHILD IS STILL SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS .. & As I’m checking out I go to put the cash back in my bag & see the person at the checkout behind me saying something low to the cashier that is also shaking her head looking at my child & I WANTED TO GO OFF ON THEM ..
When they say me turn towards them we met eyes & they quickly changed their “attitudes” & started quite loudly talking about something other than what they had been previously gossiping about .. MY CHILD – MY BUSINESS ..
POINT – If I had busted my childs behind when they refused to stay seated in that buggy & when they continued to scream obnoxiously .. Some PEOPLES REACTION WOULD HAVE BEEN OH MY GOD THAT POOR CHILD …
2nd POINT – I DIDN’T HAVE THAT REACTION BECAUSE .. I knew what was going to happen when I took them to the store .. I make it a point not to take the smaller children in the store because I know how they are going to act .. They don’t want to sit there .. They wanna get out & run around..
His father couldn’t watch my child so they – the younger one went .. I didn’t pick them up & bust their butt so they continud to show out .. & THE PEOPLE BEHIND ME felt it necessary TO GO AHEAD & TALK ABOUT if that were their child they would bust their behind & they wouldn’t be acting that way in the store with them ??? ..
PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS GOING TO BE RUNNING THEIR MOUTHS NO MATTER WHAT !! .. It’s how they pass their time ..
My older children are well behaved .. The younger ones .. They have my praying for mercy daily .. BUT they eventually learn how to behave appropriately..

And then I realize, hey we are talking about a little 5 year old child that was the topic of the whipping, the same one that disappeared.. Lets scratch the head here a minute.. Now, she is in her father’s custody.. her seventeen year old babysitter, daddy made lover, then married.. am I leaving any out here.. Oh yes, the same one who likes to really Par-TY.. Then, we have issues over drugs, alcohol, sex, and there was this earlier topic of child abuse, and now we are talking about Whippings. 5 year old child, yes, the one that disappear out of her bed in the middle of the night.. Oh I forgot to add, Hey Art your still doing great.. I heard the new interview with Cobra.. I was so very impressed, the man has a heart the size of Texas and maybe a bit more.. And Thank Heaven’s he is as dedicated to Little Haleigh as he is, because we know that is one man in that child’s life she can count on forever.. Shame her daddy doesn’t have the same grit…

This is my theory on what I think happened to Haleigh.
(Art said) Misty called Ron crying because she couldn’t handle Haleigh.She wasn’t listening to Misty and she wouldn’t go to bed and giving Misty fits.
Misty probably got mad and gave something maybe a (pill) to put Haleigh to sleep and something happened.
I remember Misty said in the beginning of this crazy case she was washing blankets because Haleigh peed on hers.Something happened to Haleigh Misty put Haleigh in the blankets took Haleigh some where.
Took the blankets back to the house with her so if some some one did find Haleigh the blankets wouldn’t lead back to the house.Misty came home and washed the blankets so any of Haleigh’s DNA or any body fluids wouldn’t be on the blankets.
On a news interview Misty said “some one took the van with the blankets “.I will post Misty’s news interview and the 911 call.
Art do you know if LE took the blankets for any evidence?.I hope LE down there were smart enought to take the blankets.Just becuase they were washing doesn’t mean all the DNA or body fluids would be washed out.
I learned that from the Casey/Caylee Anthony case.When Cindy Anthony washed Casey’s pantes from her car that smelled like a dead body.LE still got DNA and evidence from Casey’s washed pants.
Art can you PLEASE check and ask LE if they took the blankets Misty was washing that night for evidence.I hope they did.That would be a good evidence.Thanks Art for everything you do for Haleigh and all of us.Thanks for keeping us all up todate on the case.

This is ridiculous,Why do some of you think Crystal took Haleigh?.That wouldn’t stop her from having to pay child support.If the child support was an issue she would have taken BOTH kids not just Haleigh.I believe Misty knows more then what shes saying or she did something and some one helped her.
I don’t believe Crystal has anything to do with Haleigh’s disappearance.I’am so sick of people bring up that Crystal is behind of her child support.I’m not saying it’s right that shes behind but things happen to where you can’t pay.

Crystal DID NOT take Haleigh!.I believe in Crystal she is a mom who is missing her daughter and wants her home safe.

red rose:I do not know if we agree on what happened to Haleigh or not but I did like your blog and heres why:I happen to be a parent also and I can completely agree with you on what you wrote!man o man do I love me some walmart!lol!but with my kids it can turn really ugly real fast!I hate it when my youngest starts yelling and people start staring and rolling there eyes…I love my kids but I do agree as a parent that you should be able to disipline your children and when people start telling me how to raise my kids my gloves come out!I’m a fun loving momma but in order to raise your kids you need balance and disipline is needed at times a spank on the butt…is not abuse in my eyes and many parents on this planet we call home!cheers!

It is not ridiculous to think someone in Crystal’s huge clan took Haleigh. She is the first person to suspect. Cobra thinks Ron should buy him gas? Why? Buy him meals?
I watched your Cobra video and while I understand him caring for Haleigh, I do not believe he is getting anywhere in trying to find her. All he is doing is making Ron look bad. I am starting to believe that and getting famous were his only goals all along. Not talking to ABC? ABC I doubt has requested him on. Ron Cumming’s was right to get a lawyer, look what happened when he did talk to Cobra. Cobra is surprised? How smart is Cobra? I am really starting to wonder. Cobra is with Kim and Crystal. Crystal has lied. Kim had lied. Why not Cobra? Join the club. I have noticed Ron Cumming’s has not slung mud back even though he has been practically begged to do so by all these t.v shows. That tells me something. If Ron is so awful why does he still have Junior? Why is Crystal looking out windows for men in black? Sounds like common paranoid drug user behavior, peeking out the window. Paternity was reportedly refused by Amber, therefore there’s no child support ordered for her son. Amber could put President Obama on the birth certificate, but that doesn’t make him the father. Why do you keep bringing up his child support but get mad if anyone brings up hers? (FYI – I’ve never mentioned any child support on either side, but noticed this is a recurring point in your comments) If Crystal owes $350/month since Dec 2005 when it was ordered, and has reportedly paid one payment, that’s over $13,000 in arrears. Knowing that is still not going to change the fact that Haleigh’s missing.
Also, curious as to how you could make a statement about how many times Crystal’s been interviewed by LE and how many polygraphs she’s taken? How are you quoting that as fact? Just because someone has a differing opinion than you about something doesn’t mean they’re wrong any more than it means you’re right. We’re all just speculating here. If you want to get technical, Crystal lives 80 miles from here (per her on air comments), which isn’t 2 hrs., yet reportedly it took her 7 hrs. to get here. Why is that? (That’s not concrete either, just what has been reported in the media)
Again, none of this really changes anything, does it?

Starbright, I say LE should have looked real careful at Crystal. The first thing they asked Ron Cumming’s that night was if this could be a custody thingy. It is on the report I read. Ron Cummings said No. He keeps saying No because he wants focus on finding Haleigh and he do not think Crystal do this at all. Maybe he change his mind with the way Crystal has acted I do not know. But LE need to look at the huge family of Crystal. Because simple Crystal have more reason to take Haleigh. She want custody, she say Ron got custody because he stole her kids, if she believe that then she must believe taking them back stole or not is fine. She say her cousin just saw Ron back handed Haleigh and she fell on her face, she just found out about it after Haleigh went missing, maybe she find out before and DFS do not help her and she loose in court so she hatch a plan.
Art is saying LE has ruled out Crystal. I am going to ask all reporters to confirm this with LE. I would like to know. Because if they do confirm it, who else do they not consider a suspect and why not say so. Why keep saying nobody ruled out? Maybe people can ask Jeff Hardy or the task force guy just to confirm what Art Harris has said.
just since we have now two places that consider good info and I have two different things. One side art say not a suspect, one side LE say all family a suspect.

Well, I for one don’t see much difference in calling a kid a “Brat” or calling a kid a “snothead” (a la Casey). This is another thing that would make you wonder why he was keeping the kids.
I have thought for some time that it is quite as likely the child died as the result of a beating as the overdose theory. At least in my mind, it’s more likely.
