“I don’t remember what happened,” a fuzzy Crystal Sheffield tells The Bald Truth in an exclusive interview after her white Suburban plowed into the back of a car driven by two women. “I just woke up and all these people were looking down at me.”
That was on Tuesday in Palatka, where the stressed mother of missing Haleigh Cummings, was raced to a Putnam County Hospital for an apparent seizure disorder she says runs in the family. Her new baby, Chloe, with boyfriend Chad Griffis, was strapped in the car seat.
She says both were unhurt, as well as the passengers in the car she hit, and when we spoke again Wednesday as well, she described a second seizure that hit her later that day when her father, ex-Marine Johnny Sheffield, a retired Putnam County deputy sheriff, was driving, and whisked her to a hospital in Flagler County.
She attributes it to an empty stomach and says tests for drugs and alcohol were negative; she’s been prescribed the anti-anxiety meds, Zanex, to help her cope with the stress of a missing child, and her custody fight for Haleigh’s baby brother, Ronald Cummings, Jr.
Her biggest concern: that Ronald Cummings would use the accident to claim she shouldn’t be caring for the kids, or at least driving. “But I can always get someone to drive me to pick up the children,” she says. “That doesn’t hurt my being a good mother.”
She says doctors have scheduled CT scans and an EEG.

I thought the same thing that Ronald would use this against her. I surely hope not. I have had seizures and that has NOTHING to do with being a good mother. Once on the proper meds u can function like anyone else. I was glad to hear she had a drug test done. I hope that will stop anyone wanting to use that on her. Seizures are very bad. Please be careful, so many people have had bad accidents and some have lost their life Due to seizures. They are very scarey.
Once my sisters friend came to our family’s Thanksgiving dinner and he had a seizure. It was very scarey because I had never seen anything like it before, I thought he was choking and then someone realized what was going on, we called a ambulance and I just rubbed his back and he finally came out of it. I think he got scared when he woke up with my whole family standing around him and stareing at him.

I would hope that Ronald would not use that excuse. Things are building up against him though. Why are so many arrested for drugs and the charges dropped? No wonder drugs are heavy in Satsuma…get arrested and charges dropped. Sounds like something is not kosher in Satsuma!

Griffs reaction, for people who don’t stay up as late as I do. Ms Sheffield was on her way to buy a phone for the Haleigh Bug Center with the fender bender ocurred, a mission someone else completed since they now have a landline up.

How could Misty have known the back screen door was opened? When Nancy Grace went live into the home, it was noted that the back inner door swings shut automatically. How could Misty have seen through the solid inner door to see the back screen door was wide open?

No way is he a retired Marine AND a retired PCSD. I know he is a retired Marine per his myspace. His wife, Marie Sheffield, now Marie Griffis as of 2002, was busted for drugs several times, I don’t know where you got this retired PCSD info from. The Xanex must be working overtime for Crystal.

No matter what Crystal you are a good mother. Just let someone else drive for you. You just have to make sure that you stay on top of your medication. I thought Chloe was Ron Cummings other love child from Amber Brooks. But no matter what,keep your focus on finding Haleigh. Have they pulled that doublewide out,they really need to get under there???

BTW, I am not family on either side, just someone on the outside looking in and telling what I see. I could be wrong, but from my observations of everyone involved, I don’t think I am. There are just certain things that Ronald has done and said that I can’t not believe anything from him. I guess I am a more sympathic person and would be a basket case when it came to my children. I don’t see a heart wrenching plea for her return and I definitely don’t see any tears from him. Forget the “manly” stuff,,,this is his child we are talking about here. Ronald is not having any problems spending money. He married the last person who saw Haleigh that night and after calling her an f’ng b. Is that love? He didn’t have to marry her to keep her close….LE has their eyes on her.

I feel bad for Crystal.She’s missing her daughter all this stress has made her sick.I hope she gets better and that Haleigh comes home.Like she knew she was going to have a seizure while she was driving.I’m so glad her and the baby were okay and no one got hurt.
Thats good she took a drug and alcohol test.That will prove to EVERYONE and the courts that Crystal is clean.I hope and pray that she gest her kids and they are away from their father and his misfit new wife.

I am glad Crystal is getting medical attention.
I see no reason for her not to continue to see her son. She probably needs to let someone else drive for a while though.
I was shocked to learn that her dad is ex law enforcement.
That was news to me.
I keep hoping and praying that Haleigh will be found alive.

Well,the girl must have been fuzzy telling her account,because her family told news4jax the story of how she said she had a seizure,hit a vehicle and drove herself to the hospital.
Johnny Sheffield,told myfox that he just happened to be driving down the road and he came upon her car.She was in the middle of having a seizure and the ambulance drove her.
So,now I’m assuming to cover for her father trying to explain away why he told that story to cover for her having an accident,she’s now saying her second seizure was that day and her Dad was there.
Nope,her second seizure was the next day,Chad picked her up from the donation center and she had a seizure in the car.He took her to the hospital.So,she said she had only one seizure before,that was two days before Haleigh went missing.And I question if tests results back as of yesterday.

Uh huh. Look, I could kick myself for not bookmarking this link but I didn’t and that’s that.
Last week I did a time dated Boolean search for Greg, and found an online newspaper account of his full name and address, along with the fact he’d been poly’d and released weeks ago, then we know he went into the wind and Cobra went looking for him.
The IMPORTANT part with this: The statement was accompanied by the name of LE officer who gave it, and the online article went on to say Greg had admitted to binge/affair with Misty just before Haleigh went missing.
The exact dates of the binge were not given.
Transcripts from JVM last night have Kim P. saying Cobra’s found him and she’s spoken with him, confirming details of
what was going on in that frame.
This CONFIRMS that the info was weeks old and fact that it was known BEFORE the wedding took place.
It sure lends credence to allegations that in the interview she did with Art, Misty’s claims she was ‘so,so tired’ that Monday night were due to more than a busy weekend.
It may also explain why G. Sykes was returning clean clothes to the trailer, looks like someone hadn’t been there to wash them as needed.
There will be more on JVM tonight if people are interested.
I don’t care WHAT the family feud has to do with it, Sheffield wasn’t there and 2 people who were responsible for Haleigh that night have smirked and mis-stated and mis-led from minute one to cover their behinds.
They should be named as suspects because they’re SUSPICOUS.

Also Art, Marie Sheffield, now, Marie Griffis, Crystal Sheffield’s Mother, has a list of drug arrests. She wasn’t divorced from Johnny until 2002. I highly doubt he was a Sheriff Deputy while his wife was smoking weed and operating a drug vehicle. Either you got the story wrong or Crystal pulled your leg.

The statement given to Cobra by Cummings, that he was keeping his enemies closer is the most assinine thing anyone’s ever said. A truthful guy who loved his daughter hands said girlfriend over to the authorities on a silver platter.
Provided you’re NOT IN JAIL you can replace your girlfriend but not your child. It’s so obvious the Cummings’ camp has just moved on…

Crystal, you have got to take better care of yourself. I can not even begin to imagine the horrible pain it must be have a child missing. So much bad media about the drugs and abuse, try and pull yourself together. Hang on to someone or something you believe in. SOMETHING GOOD! Hold on tight, you can do this and be the woman you dream about being. Leave those drugs behind and bad men, pick up your babies and hug and kiss them everyday. Tell yourself each day that it is a gift and make it work for you. There are so many of us out here praying for you and for your sweet angels. We our survivors of a higher power and inner light…We will all keep praying for you!

I’m not sure where to post this, but here is just as good as any of the other places.
With the theory that someone knows something, but won’t say anything. Why wouldn’t someone come forward and say what they know? Now, this is just my opinion, but what if drug use was so intertwined in this that people felt that if they came forward they would get arrested for other drug crimes related to this case. Does that seem way off as a theory? I’ve read some way off theories and I hope mine isn’t one of them.
What if the PCSO offered some sort of immunity to people with information related to Haleigh’s disappearance? Does that seem like a bad idea? Does anyone think people would come forward with information knowing they’re not going to get into trouble?

For instance, can you find out why Chad Griffis had a child protective order against him just removed in November 08?
Can you find out about Crystal’s father and how he became separated from the deputy job?
Can you find out if local law enforcement has been able to clear anyone in this case?
Can you find out why a wall was supposedly removed in the trailor belonging to RC?

I am still not pointing fingers at who may have taken Haleigh because there are too many twists in this case. I just want her found!! Could bio moms sudden seizures be caused by lack of her use of drugs. Maybe coming off of something not over counter or prescribed. Many will cause siezures if taken for long periods of time.

Art, thank you for keeping Haleigh, (and everything that pertains to her), on top of your priorities. She seems to be moving farther and farther down the news chain.
And I appreciate Kim Picato for hanging in there even though Nancy Grace seems to love to attack her! She seems to have completely forgotten that Crystal was only 14 when she was with Ron. Crystal seems to have rallied and gotten her life together considering what she has gone through.
The more I hear about Ronald Cummings, the more I can see comparisons to Scott Peterson, Casey Anthony and other psychopaths who place their own comfort and desires above every thing else. Scott Peterson called his Mistress during a Candle Light Vigil for Lacy, Ron sits and moans to anyone who will listen about his “little girl” missing. He should be out stomping the woods and by-ways searching for this innocent child! (Unless he knows her where abouts.)
A correspondent to one of your articles mentioned searching UNDER that mobile home. Ron refuses to go back in there. Have the police checked under the home? Something smells fishy in Boston! Art, please follow up on that suggestion and keep us informed!

This tragedy is like ripples from a stone thrown into a pond. Everyone’s lives are irrevocably altered –not for the good. Until Misty COMES CLEAN and tells THE TRUTH, nothing good will happen.
The fact that the MIGHT of LE (some of the “best investigative minds” per Sheriff Hardy) have been UNABLE to “break” a 17-yr old delinquent does not bode well for solving ANYTHING.
Perhaps COMMUNITY PRESSURE & intense nationwide SCORN directed at the Cummings family AND MISTY will tip the balance forcing HER to tell the truth.
WHATEVER Misty is covering UP, it is SURE to INVOLVE RON. There is no other REASON for Ron to marry MISTY at such an INAPPROPRIATE TIME.
SOMETHING that happened that night is being hidden.
What IF Ron came home and caught Misty with her “paramour” (man in black)? Somehow, Haleigh could have gotten caught in the crossfire.
SCENARIO prospect #2: Misty *(wanting some alone time with her MIB paramour) might have over-reacted when Haleigh WOKE UP unexpectedly. For SOME REASON, Misty “punished” Haleigh by sending her outside to stand on the porch. Since it is unlikely Haleigh wandered (too far) OFF in the dark … someone could have been watching/waiting ….
THIS CASE WILL NEVER BE SOLVED UNTIL MISTY IS FORCED TO REVEAL THE WHOLE TRUTH of what happened that night.
For the Cummings side to FALSELY CLAIM poor Crystal is only “distracting” from Haleigh’s search IS THE HEIGHT OF HYPOCRISY! MISTY & the Cummings family have to tell THE TRUTH so Haleigh can be found.

If you really are a good mother Crystal and you know seizures run in your family why the hell where you driving with your 11 month old baby in the car?? Gee not too smart and not something a good caring mother would do.
Of course drug use causes seizures and that couldn’t have caused now could it. What a joke.
I dont know about the laws in FL, but once you have a seizure, your Doctor must report it to the state and you have to be seizure free for a year before you can drive again and endanger the lives of others.

It was actually Ron’s Grandmother Sykes who claims she

and questioned the boy.

Zanex . I think they mean xanax. xanax is just the same as giving her pot to cope. i guarantee you that evolution equipped us with ways to deal with stress. washing the brain in an addictive chemical like xanax does not help in the short term and is very destructive in the long term.

If you read the top Jo it says that her tests were negative for drugs. It is possible and I know from first hand that she has epilepsy, and seizures can be caused by stress. My friends husband has it. When he is under stress he has seizures. Perhaps that is why she couldn’t be behind a wheel or have a drivers license. However the seizures can be controlled with medication. Depending on how sever it is. Of course I’m not a Doctor but the symptoms are the same as my friends husband. Has she seen a Doctor about that?? My prayers are for you Crystal and of course Haleigh and great job Cobra and Art!! Let’s find this sweetie angel so she and JR can go back to her Mother where she belongs!! Don’t give up Cobra and don’t stop either!! There is an answer to this mess, the truth will show up and the guilty ones will pay!! Keep it in the media and shout it out from the highest place, let’s have answers to it all!! Crystal had 2 seizures, within 24 hours of each other. The first one, she rear-ended someone…the 2nd one, she was with her father. I can understand the confusion,but there are actually 2 different times, 2 different stories. Seizures can be a sign of serious problems so please hold the judgement on that until her tests are back. Reminds me of Ted Kennedy who is ill and is now having seizures due to that illness.
On April 9th, it will be 2 months since Haleigh went missing. We are not hearing anything from Law Enforcement. With the Caylee case, they proved that Casey was lying and she was arrested and later indicted before Caylee was found. We know the stories here are inconsistant but LE has done nothing. Hope we don’t have another JonBenet case here…botched from the beginning.

lingo123, it doesn’t matter if its xanax or xanex…you don’t treat an “ex” drug addict with a highly addictive drug like xanax for a seizure. which leads me to believe, like all unexplained episode, they’re calling it a seizure for lack of a better explaination. if she had 2 seizures in 2 days they’d have her on an anti-seizure medication and not a muscle/mood relaxant.

I drove by the purple house yesterday, and the people there were sitting in lawn chairs chain smoking, and only getting up to go to the window of whatever car pulled up to grab cash. Karen Lee, it simply AMAZES me that people come on this board and say things like “LE can’t break a 17 year old.” You have NO IDEA what the police know, because you aren’t one of them. Did it ever occur to you that the searches stopped because THEY KNOW WHO TOOK HALEIGH, but just don’t have enough HARD EVIDENCE to arrest them yet? If they do as everyone here suggests, and just yank up Misty and arrest her, without having enough evidence to KEEP her incarcerated, then they have to let her go, then you guys would all be on her b*tching about how they were sloppy and arrested her when they couldn’t keep her. Let LE do the police work that they’re so very capable of doing. All these comments on her about how this should be done, and why haven’t they done that is ridiculous. If any of us were good enough to BE cops, we WOULD be. Armchair quarterbacks with nothing better to do than sit around and theorize and complain about who isn’t doing enough isn’t doing Haleigh any good. In the beginning Satsuma officials said they wouldn’t botch things the way Orange County did, and then Tracy, CA officials said they wouldn’t botch things the way Satsuma has.

If, somehow GLP’s statement could get into the public purview, at least the whitewash would be so obvious it might force LE into releasing some info or getting their “focus” back.

Crystal, consider this a small setback that you can overcome. I believe that you can gain strength from this and continue to plunge on in the efforts that most women can only hope and dream about. Together with your exquisite attorney you can find answers that need to be addressed for your children and perhaps the many children and mothers that are positioned for a similar tragedy. Take care of your health and stay strong. Haleigh and Jr. need you now more than ever. Other mothers and children are counting on you and praying for your swift recovery.

Cobra please don’t give up. I believe you may be one of the only persons that can get to the truth and find Haleigh. This is a tough case to crack. I’m sure you have seen criminals of ever type and from every walk of life. You have the ability to go where LE won’t or can’t go and to do what LE can’t or won’t do. Unfortunatly I have a son who is a drug addict I know that look well stoned fce no emotion. He has drug induced seizeures all the time. If he tries to stop are he takes to much. Not taking sides here it just sounds like all the major players were partying way too much.

IF EVERYONE was conscious and NOT in a drug-induced STATE, the child would NOT be missing.
MISTY doesn’t even HAVE A LAWYER, so it couldn’t be too hard to RECORD her polygraphs, give her truth serum or hypnotize HER (to assist her fading memory of the night’s events). WHAT ANSWERS on the polygraph SHOWED MISTY was being “DECEPTIVE?” Release THAT INFO and let Misty explain to the hundreds of area residents WHO WILL put pressure on her for the answers.
JACK BAUER could certainly question Misty (and RON) and get the TRUTH out of them! It may be TV, but it’s based on reality. Putting the fear of God into a 17-yr old druggie and her 25-yr old companion shouldn’t be TOO HARD–even if HIS MOTHER works in LE and has (so far) managed to keep RON from jail time. With HIS record, even if he IS a C.I., some of the crimes WOULD have STUCK if he didn’t have INSIDE HELP.
TEll me if Crystal had the same record as RON does –DO YOU THINK she’d be out WALKING THE STREETS? NO WAY. Just like the poor girl couldn’t defend herself (at 19) against Ron’s CONNECTED family –she’d be a VICTIM of the system.

THERE SHOULD BE A BOOK in this.
LASTLY: why not pass special legislation that ALLOWS COPS & FBI GREATER LEEWAY in missing kids’ cases –greater arrest powers w/the ability to HOLD Persons of INTEREST in CONTEMPT (of court) leaving them BEHIND BARS until they come clean with everything they know.

Having lived in FL for almost two decades, I am quite familiar with its sadly lacking law enforcement. In Central FL and the Everglades’ areas, the good ol boy network RULES. It’s who you know that KEEPS you out of jail. Judging from Ron’s (coat of colors) criminal history –SOMEBODY has been keeping the poor boy OUT OF JAIL. The fact his family was allowed to run ruff-shod OVER Crystal at 19, tells me ALL I need to know about THEM and Satsuma justice. Had Kim P been at Crystal’s side BACK THEN, Ron would NOT have gotten custody; Haleigh would be safe at HOME (w/her mother) and all would be RIGHT WITH (their) world.

Haleigh was in HER FATHER’S (& 17-yr old juvenile bride) custody WHEN SHE WAS SNATCHED. *Or, “disappeared” as they used to call it in South America in the 1960 -70′s.
Also: more to the point … both MISTY & RON have NOT TOLD THE TRUTH concerning everything that happened THAT NIGHT.
NOTHING Crystal has said or done LED TO HALEIGH’s disappearance!
Ron & Misty’s CONTINUED LYING is what is keeping LE from locating HALEIGH.
PERHAPS all Cummings’ SUPPORTERS could exert their (considerable) INFLUENCE on Ron AND Misty TO TELL THE TRUTH! THAT would be constructive … and go a LONG WAY toward locating Haleigh.

Xanax is not just an abused drug. Doctors legally give out prescriptions for anxiety and stress. I believe that Crystal was prescribed the medication in light of what she is going through right now. The drugs that are abused were long approved through prescriptions before drug users decided to abuse them.

Moms/Dads love them when they are baby’s and all the attention but when things get hard the toddler years kids get killed like the 3 year old who drowned out west a few months ago. So, while your asking questions concerning Sheffield’s none retirement from the Putnam County Sheriffs office because he was fired, please, ask Marie who Crystal’s biological is. You may find out it is Johnny Lauramore, Johnny Sheffield’s half brother.
You may want to ask Marie why she threw Crystal out into the street at the age of 13. I do not think she will be receiving mother the of the year award. All IMO of course.

The “Haleigh Bug Foundation” does not exist in the state of Florida. I find it very misleading because when people read Foundation they think it is a non-profit 501(c)(3)charity and it is not! Please , ask if Crystal will be paying taxes on the money she is making with line of work.
I, for one, find it appalling that this is becoming a trend when a child goes missing or found deceased. I hope this is not the new fad in our country. Living off the name of a missing and or deceased child is disgusting. IMO of course.

Something is wrong in that town. You don’t get arrested that many times for drugs and all charges dropped, etc.
Ronald has a thing for younger girls and a lot of men are classified perps or pediphiles for doing that same thing. That may have been the reason for marrying her, I don’t know. She drives and doesn’t have a license. She smokes and under 18. I believe she has been on her own for quite a few years so where were the parents?
She has probably had more partners already than most have had in their lifetime. That is pathetic but also sad.
Trying to trap a man with a pregnancy went by the wayside years ago. If Misty were to be pregnant, I would hope DCF would intervene.
Misty has made the comment several times “I loved those children as if they were my own” but yet she wanted “her own.”
I have to say it takes a special person to become a stepmother. My abuser as a child was my stepmother. She was good at putting a front on around my father. When he wasn’t home, she was as different as night and day. People are right, kids do not call their stepmother “stepmom”. Hi “stepmom” sounds a little strange, especially from a 4 and 5 yr. old. They really don’t understand all of that kind of stuff when that young. They do have people trained to talk to children now and listen to them. I don’t think junior said “couch bouncing” and stuff at that age…just really hard to say. I would tend to believe he overheard conversations between adults and when Crystal had visitation, he mentioned things. Sometimes adults don’t realize what children pick up when they are talking.
I do fear for juniors safety at this point. With the revelations that are coming about now, it is hard telling what could or will happen between Ronald and Crystal in the future.

Is it possible,that Crystal has seziures from Ron hitting her in the head? My cousin had an abusive husband for years. He was always hitting her on the head. She had seizures for many years due to head trauma. Neither of these parents should have the kids. Family services need to step in and take these kids. Too many times kids end up hurt or killed because of family abuse and drug abuse. This is too similar to the Anthony case. I think they watched Nancy Grace too much and decided they could make money off this. People should not give donations. It will not help find Haleigh.The LE will find her without donations. The donations did not help find Caylee. She was found by accident. God bless the little children of the world. It’s in God’s hands. Whoever did this will pay.Just like Casey Anthony.Her partying days are OVER.No more fun and drugs for her. Same thing will happen here.

If anyone has visible spent money, it has been Ronald and Misty. They went to the fair, got tattoos, bought wedding rings, and evidently a wedding dress. Misty was able to get her makeup and her hair done.
I don’t think Crystal had her makeup professional done and she hasn’t gone out and got a “do”.
Haleighbug was opened for a good reason, from what I see and hear. They want ppl to stop by with tips to the whereabouts of Haleigh.
The stuff that we have heard and the inconsistencies are all pointing to Ronald and Misty, not Crystal. The rap sheets speak for themselves. A juvenile rap sheet is closed to the public or we would probably see things about Misty too. Crystal has admitted to prior drug use and I give her credit for trying to turn her life around. She is concerned about the safety of junior. Misty consumed drugs just prior to Haleigh going missing. From what we hear, they have even purchased beer with donations and expected free meals. I have a feeling they will be getting plenty of those in due time.

Why doesn’t N.A.S.A. use its technology to give to police when someone goes missing.
We all know they have the capability to view and record any spot in the U.S. with great detail – even at night
They could turn over the tapes to the police and the police could surveil the Area of the vcitims home and see if any cars or what type of activity there was around the home and then follow the car or people seen to where they next went.
This would have solved the Anthony case, The Cummings Case, The Duckette case, the Cantu case, the Polly Clas Case,etc etc, etc.
But the Liberals would all be crying ‘Big Brother’
I think its just another way our society has misplaced its values.
Finding a child is much more important and the terchnology IS THERE.

Hi, Art…yes, I’m a Topix Editor. As I mentioned before, there are 11 of us here who regularly write on this site, and I hope the other 10 are “prolific” as well, as that would mean I taught them well! Sadly, we do have to use the one guest computer in the office when we post, as we’ve got most sites blocked so that only the sites we need to do our jobs are accessible (some of us in management don’t have the blocks, but I’m of the old school in that they lead by example…”do as I do,” so to speak, “not as I say do.” I don’t think everyone takes the time to change the e-mail address, however, and it defaults to whichever was used last. I do enjoy posting and reading here, as does my staff. As I said, even the 3 guys who say they don’t post here regularly do! They just don’t think we know. Heh heh…

Karen, the reason for that is because what if they’re wrong? You can’t arrest everyone you “think” has knowledge of something…you have to have PROOF they have knowledge of something. Absolutely Misty knows more than she’s letting on, and I’d suspect Ron knows that. Why he’s done what he’s done (marrying her) is beyond me. But LE can’t just go around arresting everyone they think knows something…the jails would be more full than they are now, and a good majority of those people would be innocent. I feel very strongly that they’re baiting Misty. They know, particularly with Greg’s interview, that it’s just a matter of time (days, if not mere hours) before she’s got to pull a binge, and when she does, she’ll be her own undoing. It’s simply not possible to do the types of drugs he’s said they did, and not get tripped up…particularly at her young age, and with her obvious lack of…how shall I put this nicely…intellectual capacity. They can’t rush this…if they do, they jeopardize Haleigh’s safety, and the very premise of their case. Just because they say on tv that they have very little in terms of leads, doesn’t mean they don’t have some pretty solid theories. Just give them time to build their case iron clad.

P.S. to Karen Lee – they’re not about to tell Crystal anything about their case. Look at it from their standpoint. Crystal has a record, and from all reports available to them hasn’t been a stellar parent (not showing up for court proceedings, appearing dazed and confused, etc.). Add that to the fact that her “fiance” reportedly has a record, AND had a court order barring him from being around his OWN children, and how does that look to them? For all they know, Crystal could and would repeat that information to any number of people, and would greatly jeopardize an already difficult case. Just because they have very strong theories about guilt doesn’t mean they’re going to risk their entire case by telling anyone what they believe. It would be very irresponsible for them to do so!

Because her MySpace page was public before she changed her name and made it private. Her appearance didn’t seem to be something she paid a lot of attention to before Haleigh went missing. It’s sad that the general public is contributing to beer, cigarettes, tatoos, weddings, and fake fingernails…all in the name of a child whose very existance is in jeopardy. Poor Jr. doesn’t have a fighting chance…nor does baby Chloe.

Art – I have to laugh at one part of this story; where you say she was rushed to A Putnam County hospital. There is only one hospital in Putnam County; Putnam County Medical Center. The county has one hospital, one “mall” and a lot of other things that have just one location. Yet they have two Burger Kings and two Subway sandwich shops. Explain those priorities!

#40, I agree with your comments. Crystal, IMO, isn’t responsible enough nor are Ron and Misty – to be able to properly care for these precious children. Both families’ backgrounds are full of drugs and other criminal activities – even with some of the great-grandparents. The recovery percentage of drug addicts is terribly, extremely low. Crystal shows very bad judgment driving with a baby yet, especially, as she SHOULD know that epileptics cannot go around without eating unless they are just looking to have a seizure. This illness usually has an aura with it so that most people know when to stop what they are doing, lie down etc. I would like to see both Haleigh and Junior (when Haleigh gets back, if she does), be adopted by some caring, loving family who really wants children and will take good care of them, someone outside of any family members on either side. I have never seen such blatant drug and other criminal records on so many family members, appalling!!!

crystal stay strong. i have seizsures as well. and i went through a very messy divorce in 2000 and my ex is still on my back always. i started having them at that time. i still cant drive. but i llive alone, now and everyone is always scared of my falling , or passing out.
but dear its ok
you can handle it. and it doesnt mean you cant have your kids. you still can do everything you want. you will get on meds for it. mine were not epilepsy. mine were stricktly from stres. you will get meds and after 6 months you can drive again if you are free of them
haliegh will come back to you. stay strong dear. but please for me……..concentrate now on finding her. shes the top priotiy. deal with misty and ronald after. kim will help you. i listen for updates everyday, and im in canada. but on palm sunday i did light a candle for your little girl at church.

What’s more important, finding Haliegh, or Ronald and Misty’s civil rights. Law enforcement refuses to use “truth serum”, which would solve the case in 10 minutes. It is a sad commentary on our society when the people we hire to “protecct and serve” us do neither. I’ve had a few run ins with the cops myself and I’ve never been given special treatment or had the charges dropped. After all this time I’m beginning to think that maybe someone removed Haliegh for her own good. Use the timeline of when Ronald picked up Haliegh from school. “Proof of life” starts when she(Haliegh) was last seen alive. Are we taking Ronalds word that he picked her up? Who saw her last? MISTY.

To all that have not heard ESQ KIM Palizio (SEC) this is a PRO BONO case and she is collecting no monies from Crystal at all!! She herself has stated this several times on Nancy Grace.
Florida guy I love you for mentioning the smoking…you are so right on! I am sick to my stomach when I see these guys puffing on these cigs and I think they were doing it around these children also..Haven’t they ever heard what causes colds and sore throats in children.Haleigh with Turners…I guess if they would of taken Haleigh to the doctor visits they might of seen the signs posted in all the pediatricians offices….Smoking PARENTS….Cigarette smoke causes lung disease, colds, infections, etc in children…
For those that view Crystals nails, clean clothes, make-up, etc.. as money grubbing..if this was you, how would you feel? What would you do…would you fight for your child, if another of your children had been taken? I know I would of..down to the scratching of my nails…with claws, for my child, I would do just about anything for he/she protection.
If I wanted my son back, you better believe that I would be looking cleaner and more up beat for the media…Crystal has every right and should of already be handed over her son as soon as Haleigh went missing…as soon as the police found out the age of Misty, the drug abuse DCF should of taken the child and put him in protected custody or given him to the mother…shame on Florida!

Regarding the attempt of volunteers searching and the “block” of that search by LE:
This sounds like a bunch of BS. LE is saying “other illegal activity” wild life and possible contamination of evidence may pose a problem for the searchers yet they won’t do any further searches themselves or instruct the volunteers on basic protocol. Seems to me that when TES was there conducting their search they used volunteers and went into the dense woods, etc. LE didn’t stop Ron from searching on horseback the first few days. If LE knows about illegal activity in the woods, why haven’t they put a stop to it? I’m beginning to think that LE in Satsuma/Putnam County is deliberately stalling and blotching up this investigation. Why don’t they seem to want outside help? What is LE trying to cover up? Perhaps an Internal Affairs investigation is called for. JMO

Debi Doll, in one breath you’re talking about smoking around children, etc., and in the next you say give the kids back to their mother. Well, their mother smokes, as does her live-in boyfriend/fiance/step-brother, Chad. On top of that, Chad was prohibited from seing his own biological children by a judge for 2 years for his abuse on them. What kind of woman would bring their child into a home with a person like this? Isn’t this situation just as bad as the one he’s in? Go back and read the transcript of Crystal and Ron in court over custody. Crystal is barely cognizant, and even the judge commented on that. Her mother intervened during most every question, to the point that the judge had to tell her multiple times that it was Crystal that needed to testify. His decision to give the kids to Ron (as bad as that thought is, and despite her claims to the contrary) was based, per the court transcript, on the fact that she only interacted with her children sporadically, had no job, missed over a dozen doctor appointments for the kids because, and I quote from Crystal here, “she didn’t feel like getting up out of bed,” and, further, found her claims of domestic abuse to be baseless, as did the prior judge. She repeatedly brought up the car wreck he had with the children in the car, and insisted that he was high on cocaine when he wrecked. When the judge pressed her on it, she admitted she’d only “heard that knowledge from a friend of a friend,” then wouldn’t answer when the judge asked her if she’d seen the results of the drug screen Ron had taken the following morning, voluntarily, which showed no drugs. She did, however, have photos of her own horrific car accident all over her myspace page, which leads me to believe the kids are no safer in her car than his, particularly now that she’ll not have medical clearance to drive for at least 6 months due to the seizures. Moving Jr. to her custody would be equally as bad as the situation he’s already in, and that’s very sad.

My prayers are with Ronald and his mom. I am also they find Haleigh alive, but everyday that goes by it is more doubtful. Now we know Crystal is on Xanax this gives Ronald a better chance in the custody battle. I think the thing about custody was only for attention and T V time by Crystal and her attorney. I think this is so sad that her attorney would take the attention off of finding Haleigh so she could get some publicity.

Staci, re: your post #127, it’s funny you say Ron’s camp is wrong for smoking in front of the kids (which it is, particularly given both children have health issues that are likely from the rampant drug use by the mother in utero), but you don’t seem to mind Crystal, Chad, Marie, Sarah, and the rest of the gang chain smoking around them. Is there a difference in the amount of 2nd hand smoke they breath in when in one house vs. another?

Haleighbug.com as a non-profit organization has to account for every dime spent,receipts for everything,even ice cream cone for Jr.,to date I have read that Crystal has spent $385,that does not seem excessive for the time-frame and whatever money is left when Haleigh is found will go to another non-profit organization to help find other missing children,I think this is a very good cause,the only reason her attorney had to set this org. up in first place was Ron came in their tent and took donation jar from Crystal and LE upheld that because he is custodial parent..Not a good time to be fighting over donations..PLEASE BRING HALEIGH HOME SAFE..May God bless little Sandra Cantu she rests with him now,I pray that Haleigh does not end up same way..

Just wanted to clear up some minor issues: Johnny worked as a correction officer. Also he divorced Marie in 6/94, her arrest was in 7/97 years after they were divorced. He also did not take Crystal to the hospital the day of her accident she went by ambulance and the seizure that happened later that day Chad took her to the hospital. Only trying to clear up a few things and pray for haleigh. Its as though everyone is self absorbed and not focusing on her.

Spunky? What did Ron expect when he impregnated a 16 year old? MOther of the year. Although I dont excuse Chrystal for what she did back then, I understand it was her youth. She was a child herself! Now she is a grown woman and ADMITS her mistakes, which makes her a better parent in my book. NOW as far as a step brother. Please quit saying that. Her mom married the guy six years ago and he had a son. Chrystal did not grow up with him and he is not her STEP BROTHER in any sense accept maybe by law. I know a couple that did the same thing and had a double wedding and are quite happy. So get over that part. There is no incest there as it is intended to sound in your posts. Thanks

Gayle, Ron is 2 years older than Crystal, so it’s not like he was exactly father of the year when he “impregnated her.” And when you factor in the immaturity level of most guys at that age, they were practically the same age! (I said that in jest, but it’s true) Besides, she went there with him willingly…so it’s not like he held her down and “impregnated her” as your post implies. They’re BOTH sad excuses for parents…neither of them willing to walk the walk while they talk the talk. I just think everyone needs to realize that BOTH of them put their children in this situation…they’re BOTH responsible for the way their kids have been brought up to this point. It’s just grating to hear people blame all of this sadness on one or the other, because there’s definitely enough blame to go around in both families. I don’t think either of them are capable (or maybe the word is unselfish) enough to do what it takes to provide a stable, loving, drug-free, smoke-free, alcohol-free, Christian homelife from this point forward for those 3 adorable, innocent children (optimistically assuming Haleigh comes home). And if she does, by the Grace of God, come home, look what she’s coming home to! In one house you have a hot-headed, violent male with a teenage bride, while in the other you have a hot-headed, violent male with a mom that, to this point, doesn’t seemingly care over much about her children (several judges said that, it’s not just my assessment), certainly not enough to take a stand for them. Sadly, it’s a lose/lose situation for the kids unless someone steps in and makes DRASTIC changes in their lives.

As I said before, I do know “CantAdd,” and they do work with/for me. I’m sure I’ve been compared to worse. I can also confirm that I am an online news editor, which Art can confirm. I choose, however, based on Ron’s (and others) volitile temper (and my own safety), not to divulge which sites I edit, particularly given that I live within a 25 mile radius of him. I’m sure you understand. Nothing worse than being confronted by a violent person simply because I post the news related to him/her.

My husband is an ex drug user and he never had seizures until he got off the drugs and his drug of choice was xanax. If you take even one a day for a year and then stop u will have a seizure in the next week. So she knew she had to be clean and she got off the drugs and i believe with everything in me that the seizures were a withdrawl symptom from xanax and other drugs. So what does the dr. give her??? XANAX! Yay great dr. that stuff is so addictive.

It is so funny what people will believe. If I know Crystal she will be driving soon and it will not matter if she is supposed to or not. That is how Crytal is. She has a seizure before Haleigh went missing AND claimed the reason it took her so long (five hours) to show after Haleigh went missing was she could not drive and has to wait for someone to drive her, because of her seizure. Guess what, the DMV will not let a person who has a seizure drive for one year.
Ron should be concerned because he knows how Crytal IS. HE KNOWS she will be driving around with his kids in the car in no time. Just like she was with baby Chloe in the car.
THAT IS WHY SHE IS CONCERNED, this is what she always does.
Drives with no license, Drives when she is loaded, no surpise here.

I had a dream:
I saw Haleigh in the bottom of a grave near RR tracks
The grave was dug for someone else.
Haleigh was killed placed in the Bottom of the grave then covered with enough dirt to hide her little body
– then the casket for the person who the grave was dug for was placed on top of Haleigh — thus No cadaver dogs would hit on a her dead body as there was another body in the grave too
The cemetary is near RR tracks
and some water is near by —
Police:
Did anyone die during the days before Haleigh went missing or within a few days either way ???? IF SO PLEASE dig up the coffin and look under it. Thats where you’ll find Haleigh

I find it very strange any doctor would give Xanax to a seizure patient, Thats just strange for a couple of reasons, one being you shouldn’t take Xanax with most anti-seizure medications. The following is from Web MD
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you take drugs that cause drowsiness such as: antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.g., diphenhydramine), anti-seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine), medicine for sleep (e.g., sedatives), muscle relaxants, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.g., phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine, tricyclic anti-depressants such as amitriptyline), tranquilizers.
“That was on Tuesday in Palatka, where the stressed mother of missing Haleigh Cummings, was raced to a Putnam County Hospital for an apparent seizure disorder she says runs in the family. ”
I have had a seizure disorder since 1988, and no where in all the research i’ve done on seizures, has there been any talk of “seizure disorder that runs in the family.” Nothing online mentions this as well, I have been to Duke University, Cleveland Clinic, and many other hospitals, or treatment facilties for seizures and not one time has a doctor ever mentioned that option, and yes I have ask, because my dad also had seizures AFTER he had a major stroke. My seizures come from a head injury. I have never heard of a seizure patient that can keep their driver’s license either. I had a letter from the DMV waiting, after spending 3 nights in I.C.U. after my first seizure.
When looking at the causes of seizures this is what Web MD states:
“Causes of Seizures
Although the underlying causes of epilepsy are usually not known, certain factors are known to provoke seizures in people with epilepsy. Avoiding these triggers can help you avoid seizures and live better with epilepsy:
missing medication doses
heavy alcohol use
cocaine or other drug use, such as using ecstasy
lack of sleep
other medicines that interfere with seizure medications
For about one out of every two women with epilepsy, seizures tend to occur more around the time of menstrual periods. Changing or adding certain medicines before menstrual periods can help.”
I, for one, don’t buy this story. It just doesn’t add up at all.
I normally don’t comment on any blogs, I just read, but this really caught my eye. I know this is an older blog entry, but someone should have researched seizures before this interview.
I have just began reading about this sad case and started with your first blog about Haliegh.
This is so very sad and heartbreaking.

I FEEL SO BAD FOR THIS MOTHER/FAM.!
I know the state took custody away from her BUT I can’
t help to think that if she had haliegh this would NEVER would’ve happen!! I think Misty is a lil girl trying to play house when she should be in school and AWAY from children!…..As far as Ronald I dontr think any judge would listen to him now that he is behind BARS!! It’s aboutr time this REAL MOM got a break and I can’tbelieve that she has to fight to get her son back from the state when in my eyes had these kids been with their ma Haliegh would NOT be missing!!!
