Will Sarah Rescue Saxby: Y’all Meets You Betcha
By Art Harris, The Bald Truth, (c) www.artharris.com, all rights reserved
It was billed as a do-or-die runoff rally for Sen. Saxby Chambliss in a conservative Atlanta suburb, but cheers for GOP rock star Gov. Sarah Palin turned the Gwinnett County civic center into a test of her post-election appeal, as she drew fans from as far away as Alabama and Tennessee, waving –Sarah in 2012” signs alongside, “Read My Lipstick, Vote Sax” placards.
Among an estimated 5,000 people who turned out on a rainy Monday afternoon –Adrienne Royer, a fiesty red-head staking out the front row of the rope line. She won’t be voting for Saxby in Tuesday’s runoff against Democrat Jim Martin, because she’s from Chattanooga. She drove two hours to see Palin.
Click here saxpal-slide12 to see our rally slide show and hear Palin’s speech, then
“I’m a 27 year old woman and Sarah Palin is the first Republican role model I’ve ever found,” Adrienne Royer told me. “My whole life I’ve been waiting for a conservative feminist to come out and share her voice for me. Everyone assumes I’m a pro-choice liberal because of my age and education, but she speaks for a lot of women my age.”
Hardly a fat-cat crowd you’d expect at a GOP rally like this, the sprawling arena that hosts rock concerts, too, was packed with young, working class voters, the kind of folks I watched McCain and Palin chase across the rust belt of Ohio, North Carolina, Florida and beyond while riding their campaign planes in the final days before they lost.
Some may dismiss them as the hardcore, party fringe, out of touch and outnumbered by the rest of the country, but political insiders predict they’re not going away, and many want Palin leading the next ticket as Top Dog.
Among those surveying the crowd, and looking to the future was well-known GOP political strategist Ralph Reed, as GOP Sen. Johnny Isakson introduced his old UGA classmate, Saxby, who introduced Palin and stood back to applaud as she did for him what she did for another white-haired Republican, John McCain–fire up their base, urging them to go out and vote.
“I love Sarah because she’s real, she’s not from Washington, D.C. and doesn’t play their games,” said Laurie O’Brien, a 40-something ex-soccer Mom from Duluth, Ga. She has two children who runs her own party event business.
“I was terribly disappointed when McCain lost,” she sighs, but says all she can do now is vote for Chambliss, and deprive Obama of a rubber stamp Congress.
For O’Brien and others, Chambliss, leading slightly in recent polls, is the GOP key to thwarting instant Democratic dreams of mega-legislation, and feared tax hikes. His reelection would give GOP senators desperate filibuster power.
Indeed, the Peach state runoff is a gateway to hell or heaven, say party officials. With Democrats in the Senate just two votes shy of 60 needed to block GOP filibusters, Georgia’s race could tip the scale. The only other unresolved senate contest: Minnesota, where a recount is under way in the race between Republican Sen. Norm Coleman and Democrat Al Franken.
Chambliss likes to call himself a firewall against a liberal agenda steamrolling Washington. In downtown Atlanta, Martin used hip hop star Ludacris to rally a crowd of about 1,000 Monday.
Early voter turnout in Georgia was reportedly moderate Tuesday, but however Chambliss does can also be interpretred as a referendum on Palin, and whether she’ll have legs in 2012.
For more on Palin at the rally, check out my slide show, and let us know what you think.

She has gotten under your skin Mr Harris.
Georgia is our only hope right now, hope they will do the right thing, we need checks and balances in government. A one-party-state situation never was and never can be a good thing.

Reminds me of that slogan “Yes We Can”…guess peanut came up with that…or a black-eyed pea.
I’m just funnin’ around and hope no one takes me seriously…seriously.

Perhaps it was more of a referendum on the Democrats?
If it was on Sarah, what is the verdict Mr Harris?
Thank You Georgia!! Sweet Georgia on my mind…..

“…legs, rock star, Top Dog…”
Darn it a female “Top Dog” is called a you know what…but she isn’t…is she?
Gosh, you can’t say anything these days with cursing, or being accused of being racist, or sexist, or at the very least…politically incorrect…or just plain stupid…or worse.
Just like that little baby. Now see, I’ve already offended someone.
What about that atheist thing in Washington State…like ‘they’ (whoever the heck ‘they’ think they are) make up a plaque that says there are no gods, no angels, do devils…and such…
And what the heck do they know anyway?
They don’t!!!

Saxby is not going to stop anything. There are republicans that can and will give the dems the 60 on a lot of issues. The republicans don’t want to come across to the world as a bunch of meddling losers. There are moderate republicans that want to get re-elected. LOL.The haters can say whatever, but we have our President and his name is Obama. LOL.
December 5th, 2008 at 2:28 pm
EJ I think your right but not all republicans are losers some already know they have to work with the democrats to get something done about our economy.Yes we can
December 5th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
hmm, I agree whole heartedly with you. I don’t think all republicans are losers. In this crisis that we’re in, I think a lot of the republicans will reach across the aisle to make things better for America. At least I hope.
December 5th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
some winners the Dems are. Having undermined and demonized the current president the way they did. And now they demand respect for the new president. Double standards.
But Republicans are fair and will respect president Obama. At least because of the office he holds.

Art, Joni and Isabel
I thought I’d say goodbye with a beautiful song. It is just too lonely here without J+I.

Dear Sarafina,
Please don’t go. That was a beautiful song and I thank you for sharing it with us.
I think I’ve lost my spirit and just don’t have anything to say about anything anymore. I got a bit tired of checking here and nothing had been happening and then when Art did start putting articles up, they just didn’t entice me to say anything anymore.
Because of my one sister’s radical ways, she hasn’t been speaking to me since before the election, because I refused to stick with the Democratic Party. The funny thing is, she had just started to speak to me in the past two years, after a six year fallout. So here we go again, lol. I should be used to it by now, lol.
That isn’t why I’m dispirited though. I have missed you Sarafina and also Isabel. I think of you often and hope you will stay here because we may have more work to do once obama takes office and starts to “run” things. Maybe I’ll get my spirit back by then.
Thanks again for that beautiful song. I’ll be hanging around.

Art,
I didn’t mean that it was your writing that was the problem, lol. It wasn’t that that kept me from posting.
I just wanted to make that clear. It’s just me, or what’s left of me, lol.

Hi Joni
So wonderful to see you again!! Your feelings are fully understandable. This election year was just not fair.
Unlike other election years where we could say exactly what we thought, this year there was the labeling with the race thing you know. The chilling effect another lady would call it.
I will be away for a long time but will check back next year to see what Mr Harris is up to.
Love you Joni, may God bless you and your family greatly this season and the year ahead.
Let us just pray for your sister, she will see the light soon enough!

I don’t think this world is quite ’sweet’ enough for Palin, just yet…but, maybe if her husband ran for office in the future…that might be interesting, don’t you think?
I think he could probably win ‘that race.’
And, we all know he has a bunch of babies to feed, so what could be better, really?
Oh well, nice dream…I’m sure he’d rather fish.

Speaking of ‘pie in sky’ and now I wonder…
Seems in lieu of the facts, rather Lewinsky…
Might have been some ‘Monkey Shines’ goin’ on behind the scenes, or ‘that curtain.’
Was it to make Clinton more, or less, famous?
I’m such an idiot, of course, it’s all according to what ‘is’ ‘is.’
Reminds me of a song…something about diamonds and sky.
Mr. Art..seems you are getting lot’s of vacation time, wonder what your next assignment might be.
Ain’t no tellin’.
January 15th, 2009 at 10:20 pm
As usual I’m just trying to think of something ‘bright’ to say.
Reminds me of Britney, LOL…not.
But anyway, I’m gonna’ give it a go.
Palin has a ‘full plate’ and I think the ‘President’ should not have a family….or they’ll take a toll and pay someday…
Even Chelsea (sp?) must ‘feel’ some ache in her brain…especially now, since her parents are getting on in age.
Seems her Mother ain’t about to give up…and her Dad was was, what can I say…just a man.
“Highlights” always was the best ‘magazine.’
February 7th, 2010 at 5:46 pm
Dang that ‘tea party’ Speech was mighty impressive, and down right inspirational, she wasn’t boring and didn’t ‘miss a beat.’
Although she was obviously reading and well-rehearsed…wonder if she in fact wrote it herself?
And, she’s not what I would call ‘Pretty,’ although Obama really is…and seems those ‘old boys’ thought so, too!
Rather plain, lol…but of course.
While Hilary just looks better ‘wearing’ those pants…and seems to “I Want” that job ‘without caring’ a little, too much.
Yet, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover…or can you rather glimpse?
Sure would be nice someday to have a ‘good Mother, Wife, Person’…to rain.
Still I wonder though isn’t it true that ‘a person’ that would or does want the job to lead, probably wants more?
February 23rd, 2010 at 4:12 pm
“Little Women” will never get behind believing in an American Pricess…like this…seems we pre-sueded some ‘tanned man’ to .
And while her husband is busy ’sledding’…on those slopes…and betcha he’s pretty happy not goin’ after more bail.
And the ‘middle of this world’ would rather burn fuel stead…
lol
Better than some pretty fake ‘princess of England that got a song and a dance…
So, far, anyway seems she spread ‘her wings’ a little too, far fetched for us to believe…yet all those babies covered in flies, and for ‘the most part’ some great body with a more, perfect ‘backed media’ to gloat and call her ‘no tressel (bridge sp?)’ or game of polo players and dames or …what all ‘little’ I just watched in 10 or 20-minutes on television sets broad-cast by Time Warner on…
Not so much afraid of cooking with stainless nomore, not so-much feeling what ‘tubes’s’ sell…not believing in “The Doctors” getting a foot bath, not believing that Diana was really ‘a flurty fairy tale princess.’
Would rather believe in ‘flirty; with an ‘i’ instead of a ‘college U.’
Or would really like to know that Bill Gates with a his money could if he would dare promote Slate Pete.
Oh, but a Rhino’s horn is only hair, and and not even Food TV is worth watching anymore…
I already know hoe easy it is to make gravy, just takes ‘Meat and Juice’ and little flour…and adding water gradually over ‘media heat.’
I’m takin’ a nap…and made enough mistakes to see me some finer day.
Better than some ‘cow’ getting poked and rawhide…
I don’t mind a joke but leave my rear end alone.
Other-wise I might get ‘the feeling’ that you could care less than Like-wise.
Might be good for a girl to speak up for her Virginia.
And tell you where to ‘put it.’
LOL…boys really do need to be told that no matter what they think…just ain’t no place for proper.

Reminds me of another inland lake getting min’d by Morton…

The 2nd ‘link’ should’ve been another salt lake, located in Utah…by a “Latter Day Saint”…just another man, another Republic, not a Roman Catholic, just a Venture Capitalist.
?
A Demo-GOG?
Reminds me of ‘The Saltines of Swing’…lol.
Crackers.
Nice show on public television with a man that could play that guitar from country to jazz, to rock, to soul…and Chet must know something else or had a great wife or someone that did his bookkeeping.
April 26th, 2010 at 1:36 am
Some damn family…Obama stood stoick to daize..minding those 29 lives lost burried in soul….all for charcoal.
He looked just like the usual presi-dance…not unlike that last one when the 9/22….
Yep…just give us ten more years.

Got monopoly all over green…and see no delight.
Just less and less nutrients and more and more frozen food.
