Sarah Strikes Back! “Caribou Barbie” Is A Star!

ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 3—Under vicious media attack for everything from her teen daughter’s pregnancy to a small town resume, John McCain’s running mate struck back Wednesday night here in the Twin Cities, blasting away any notion that a frontier chic mother of five, including a pregnant teenage daughter and her own newborn with Down’s, isn’t up to be Vice President of the United States.
While Sen. Fred Thompson got it right when he called Gov. Sarah Palin a “breath of fresh air,” the Alaska governor came roaring into the RNC like a hurricane, hell in high heels, gunning for Barack Obama, and ready for a fight.
She turned in a rock star performance, and brought down the house with a joke, saying the only difference between a soccer Mom like her and a pit bull…was “lipstick.”
We’ll have more from St. Paul and the looming political showdown between McCain and Obama, but for now, we can report we witnessed the birth of a political super nova on the river downtown, who cast herself as a maverick unafraid to stand up to the big bad wolf, whether special interests, lobbyists, big oil, or Barack Obama, and a Democratic dream machine.
For those who have tried to dismiss her as some sort of Caribou Barbie, they had a wake up call Wednesday night. Just because the former beauty queen can hunt and fish, and survive in the wilds on moose meat if she has to, that doesn’t mean she’s not qualfied to be Veep,” she says, firing up new fans.
Portraying herself as a down to earth super Mom, Palin came across as a cross between Annie Oakley and Deadliest Catch.
After all, she can hunt and shoot, and she did marry her high school sweetheart, a world champ snowmobile racer and commercial fisherman who reportedly jokes he’s going to have a new job soon as “First Dude.” Palin took no prisoners Wednesday night, praising her new boss, and declaring she’s ready to lead, or follow John McCain, baby.
So watch out.

Sarah Palin aced it last night. She’d get my vote if she was running for president! Who knows, maybe she will be next time around. Take that, BO and MO, lol. McCain really knew what he was doing when he chose Sarah.
While I can’t stand Rudy Giuliani, I have to say he had a wonderful speech also. He said the things that really needed to be said. They all said things that got straight to the viewers without it being first twisted and spun by the Obama paid media.
I don’t think Obama stands a chance. This is the first time I’ve ever watched a Republican Convention. Everyone has been saying Obama should normally be 20 points ahead of his Republican opponent, but he isn’t, lol. It’s my belief that it’s mostly the Hillary supporters that are responsible for that missing 20%, lol. Obama wasn’t figuring on that, was he? Silly man, lol.
Obama should be ashamed of the spectacle he put on the night he gave his acceptance speech. With all the million$ he spent on that one night (on himself) can you imagine how fast he would go through the taxpayers money? And when that would be gone, he’d raise the taxes for more to spend, which he’s planning on doing anyway. He’s planning on raising taxes on businesses which will pass them on to consumers.
Then he got up there and said, “this isn’t about me, it’s about you”, or something to that effect. Yeah, right, lol, and I bet all his little sheepies believed him, lol. Ohhh, what idiots, lol. Actually, I think real sheep would even have better sense than to follow Obama, lol. Also think of all his cohorts he owes, big time. They are the ones who helped him become senator, in the only way he had a chance of winning, and that was to remove his opponets. I wonder what they will want in return, hmmmmm. Scary thought there.
Obama couldn’t give his speech where Hillary and Bill gave theirs. No, that wasn’t big enough, he had to have it in a place where he could have more of his adoring followers (sheep) cheering him on to great heights, no matter how much it cost. That’s how he is spending his donations, on himself, even though he feebly attempted to tell the crowd that it was about them, not him, LMAO. I have never, in my life, seen anyone so wrapped up in himself as he is. This is ALL ABOUT HIM and anyone who believes it’s not, is just plain stupid!
Is anyone ready to have a world order government? That’s one of the “changes” he wants. He just never really explains these “changes” to the public, does he? Hmmmmm.
September 4th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
http://gov.state.ak.us/ I was awe struck with Sara Palin. She seems to be emerging as my first hero, i have had or a long time. above is the Alaska gov. web, and it tells all you want to know. She is not afraid of change or challanges. Hillary , could have taken a lot of lessons from her, so the demo’s better watch out for the new kid on the block. Obama, is a lot of mouth, , but has no deapth. so now i am regestering as a republican, and i am actually going to vote, because I feel it in my heart. thank you Art. fot letting me talk.
September 4th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
Thank you Art. It is good to see your objectivity back.
You just told it like it is, it is up to us the readers now to form an opinion.
They had it coming after they mocked her for being a mayor of a small town, conveniently forgetting that she is a governor of a state.
She swept the floor with Obama’s experience, that’ll teach him to point fingers while he full well know he is not in a position to do so.
Now he accuse them of running on personality? Excuse me, for the last 18 months Obama was pushed down our throats solely because he was such a “great likeable” guy!
THe media going on that Sarah was not vetted. OH THE HIPOCRISY!! Till this day Obama was never vetted!
Is it ok for a man to run on a thin resume and not for a woman?? And she has a better resume than he and Biden anyway!
Isabel did you not love Sarah and Rudy last night!!!!! I did!!
September 4th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
She is a breath of fresh air! Finally a woman who does not play the victim role (Hillary). No wonder the liberals hate her. That makes me like her even more. She has far more experience than Nobama, and she will only be the V.P. Get ready Liberals – the American people will speak on Nov 4.
You are use to the concept of defeat. Go McCain-Palin
September 5th, 2008 at 8:47 am
Art I think this girl has it..the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.
She is going to get the religious right wing vote which is what happened last time and no doubt she is a staunch born again like Mr Bush.
People vote for what they understand not what they do not know. This election is now about the economy and people losing their stuff, not like years before, with defense and war.
It is now about your pocket book and where is that money going and where is the home that I spent so much for and do not have now? Where is my lifestyle..gone.
Obama might be the golden boy of the dems, however she is the new fresh face of what women want. It is ok what happened with her daughter it shows how much love that family has to support her and guide her through these times which is what we need, family values again.
People make mistakes, a baby is not a mistake, it is a gift.
The statement that stands out most for me because I have a child with special needs is the following
You have a friend in me if you have a child with a disability and I will help. No words more powerful than that can turn a parents ear and there are more than you can imagine now.
You go Sarah clean up the mess and do not let anyone stand in your way!!!!YOU HAVE MY VOTE LOUD AND CLEAR
Hey did anyone see any women in Obamas team yet?
September 5th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
I still feel like None of the Above for this election.
Both Parties are out of touch with ordinary Americans.
One Party (Republicans) does not seem to have a clue that the medical industry is ripping us off with their over the top prices for health care.
The other (Democrats) is so ignorant they do not even know that their candidate has legalized infanticide. Killing of infants, discarding them as medical waste.
So what do you do, do you want to be guilty of turning a blind eye to legalized infant killing.
Will I have to sell my soul for health care while I know the Party promising it is not capable of deliver. Look at the cities and states they are running, it is a mess.
God help us
September 5th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
What a breath of fresh air. I was very impressed with this candidate. She was not the least intimidated by the onslaught of negative punches at she and her family. I was proud to see her stand in pride and in love with her family. I believe she will shake up Washington just like she did Alaska and some of the aristocrats are afraid they will not be able to spend money frivilously, much for their own pleasure. She is a great representative for women of America and will be a great asset in the role of vice president.
September 5th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Just a plain, old simple human being…that’s older than dirt.
Sure wish we admired our elders, instead of digging there graves like we are somehow better than them…instead of just being offspring.
May God Bless John McCain, even if he’s only a man.
September 5th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Over 4000 soldiers have died in a war that has not had a clear purpose or exit plan. I have reason to be concerned. I have a 20 year old son. I know of other mothers who are encouraging their sons to leave the country, should this war continue. Some of the mothers say they love their country- just not enough to have their sons die for it. There are 1.2 million homes in foreclosure and unemployment was at its highest in Aug. 2008. (over 6%) I am not so ignorant that I would vote for this to continue. McCain is going to bring change? He has had 26 years to bring change…..did he just wake up in 2008 and decide we need change? He can only promote Bush’s agenda. Reminds me of the old saying….keep doing what you are doing, and you will keep getting what you’re getting. There’s nothing “new” with John McCain. What would be different?
McCain recently described Sarah Palin as his “soul mate.” That explains why he chose her when he had only seen her once. What is a soul mate? It is one you are destined to be with….the one on this earth you are supposed to be with, the one with whom you connect. It is usually the one you long and desire for…. it is “the one.” A running mate is your soul mate? We’re not stupid. Neither is Cindy McCain. She had her husband sign a pre-nup. He has a history of affairs- smart woman.
As for Palin describing herself as “a pitbull with lipstick” and people wearing buttons referring to her as “hot chick” and “babe” I don’t find any of this amusing. With over 4000 deaths in a war, a pending recession (if we’re not in it already) and people losing their jobs and homes, this is not a time to be cute. Obama is right…..they just don’t get it. This is serious, and it is critical. Let’s hear Palin discuss the issues. What will she and McCain do that is different from Bush? Shooting the caribou for dinner doesn’t count, by the way.
How can one be pro-life, when they shoot guns, kill animals, and say they will keep a war and its bloodshed going for 100 YEARS if they have to do it? Killing is killing. Pro-life? Since when is shooting guns, hunting innocent animals and casualties of war, pro-life?
How does a group of hundreds of people wave banners and signs, professing to “love” Palin when they did not even know her name two months ago? It’s beyond me. How does a mother who has a four month old infant with special needs- Down’s Syndrome, campaign to serve the U.S. as a Vice President? Does she not understand the depth of commitment, energy and time, raising a Down’s Syndrome child will entail? Then, add a 17 year old daughter who is pregnant to the mix. I think instead of campaigning to serve people in the U.S., I would be serving my family. I would know this is a priority. Sarah Palin and I obviously do not think alike and I resent her statements that she represents women. She does not represent this one.
McCain is a true hero for the torture he endured for five years. No one could ever dispute this. Still, I am educated as a Social Worker and anyone who has endured such circumstances, pain and survival for such a lengthy time, would have to have some type of psychological and emotional effects from it. It is these unknown effects that concern me. We’re not super-human. Just human beings. Because McCain survived this, does not mean every mother’s son or daughter can go fight a war and kill people.
If McCain is elected and something happens to him, his soul mate- the pitbull in lipstick, will be the President. She’s no Hillary Clinton, nor could her limited experience ever begin to compare. McCain should have been wiser than to think he could just put a woman’s name on the ticket and Hillary’s women voters will flock to him. We are too intelligent to just casually vote for someone because the candidate is a woman. Right now, this country happens to be in survival mode. I only wish the Republican candidates understood this. Unfortunately, their flippant humor and remarks tell a different story.
I demand some clear answers as to what John McCain will do that is different from Bush. We have had enough of Bush’s agenda. It didn’t work- just look around you. I understand Palin is not giving media interviews. Maybe she will be better able to answer questions and speak to the media after she concludes her “crash course” in being a President. In the meantime, we keep hearing what McCain and Palin are “going to do”….it’s time we learn exactly how they plan to accomplish it.

Everyone needs to type in Google: newsmax.com/obama and sutton and please read the whole article by Ken Timmerman entitled: Obama has ties to top Saudi advisor at early age.
All we need is to have a president that has ties to the very people who flew planes into our buildings killing innocent people. Think how easy it will be the next time. The list of people he owes is growing and getting scarier all the time.
There is a video at the end of the article.
I heard on another blog that the Saudi Royalty had actually paid for Obama’s Harvard schooling. I don’t know if that’s completely true, but what I do believe is true, is the connection of the Saudi’s and his getting into Harvard.
Has everyone been seeing all those T.Boone Pickens commercials on TV? It seems that Nancy Pelosi is a big investor with him, (has deep ties with him) and he is backing Obama, although he keeps saying he isn’t leaning one way or the other, yeah, right, lol. Dean, Kennedy and Kerry are in it too, that’s why they threw their support to Obama. They are all using him, because they all know he’s good for it, lol. The DNC managed to get their, “puppet” in, now see what they’ll all want in return. Obama played his role to the hilt but now he owes them all, big time. He has been too self absorbed probably to even know what all is going on behind the scenes. He’s so into himself, he’s almost inside out, lol. Seems like this has all been a very elaborate plan and so far has been working.
Does anyone feel as if they’ve been had? I can’t believe how so many women can vote for someone who is so damned sexist, along with all those idiotic pundits who slobber all over themselves making fun of Hillary and Palin. I think they are so jealous, because they know they could never measure up to either of them lol.
Unfortunately some men think it only takes a certain part of their anatomy to make them a man, lol. That only makes them male. It takes a whole lot more than that to make a man and, sadly, most fall so short.
I think that is why so many women supported Howard (and still do). We all saw he is a real man, in every sense of the word and very good looking to boot, lol.
September 7th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
Obviously I have nothing better to do than make comments.
But, no one ever listened to me anyway.
Gosh, leave it to McCain to through a wench into this horserace…oh, did I mean wrench?
McCain’s mother should be President, don’t you think…what an absolutely amazing woman.
Wonder why she’s lived so long, and bet she’s got a long way to go.
What does make you liver longer?
Maybe money, or knowing the real deal…’what it can buy’…and ‘what it’s really worth?’
Please, Art…erase my silly comments…I’m just lonesome.
And, that’s the honest truth…of course, it’s not the whole truth.
By the way, just to make you feel, not so alone, my hair is falling out, too!!!
September 7th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
Art I have one thing to say She took your pitbull with lipstick and ran with it during her speech.Do you supposed that means she reads your blog??
September 7th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Sarah is fantastic. May she bring a super powerful vacuum cleaner to gobble up the trash, beginning with Nancy Pelosi, followed by Ted Kennedy, Carolyn and countless others.
September 10th, 2008 at 10:55 am
Art,
I would be forever grateful if you would at least erase my last 14 to 20 comments….
Pretty please?
You know my plumber wanted to take a jack hammer to my floors and replace all the galvanized pipes under ‘this old house,’ but I begged and so all he did was charge me a couple of hundred dollars to bring in some coil device and…anyway it worked…although I know it’s just a temporary fix.
Then he told me I better get out of this place…then he told me how much he’d charge me to re-route the pipes…
A pretty reasonable estimate.
See, I’m off on some tangent, that has nothin’ to do with those corrupt politicians.
McCain might be old enough, by now, to know he can’t take ‘it’ with him…Obama is just a boy.
And Biden doesn’t ‘need’ that job…so why is he running?
Funny, why are ‘they’ running? And, are ‘they’ really?
Seems more than unbelievable to me…but, the young folks and the old folks have ’somebody’ to punch…even if it probably, truly doesn’t matter or have any bearing on the outcome.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
Art, were’nt you the one who coined that phrase “pitbull with lipstick” some time ago? lol. Sara Palin is a formidable person and I have only respect for her accomplishments, but I have to question if John McCain is comfortable being the less dominant personality in this race.
September 12th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
Very good Charlie Gibbs. Now do the same to Obama and Joe Biden, with the same condescending attitude.
The Democrats will loose this election, exactly because of their treatment of Governor Palin.
Obama cannot even bring himself to call her Governor Palin.
The real pigs in this race are Obama and Biden.
September 15th, 2008 at 12:45 am
Hugh Hefner and his dirty little empire, of so-called ‘women’s liberation.
Gosh, even the ‘home networks’ for cooking are now being taken over by ‘chefs’ and they’re vacationing on those islands….
Might at well face it ladies, we’re fighting a loosing battle…and not only are we loosing, so are our children.
Gosh, and who promoted women’s lib…but Hugh Hefner…and, those ‘Media Moguls’ and gosh….a major portion of our government….and all of the world’s governments…rather ‘they participate or not’…seems eventually they will someday dome ‘TO TERMS’…just easy money, equation and money.
Hey, might be nice to think of ‘This Tiny Blue Dot’ like an egg. Doesn’t matter what came first, might be more important to think of what comes last.
September 16th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Sory I don’t like her.It is crasy to see mother of 5 children running away from them. She is an agressive woman, her only arm is her big mouth attacking. When did she went to Afganistan or Irak ? she is a big joke trying to give a poor old man a new breath.
What is going on with or OJ??? His trail suppost to begin soon???
September 17th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Dear Art,
For the life of me I can’t figure out your filing system for ‘categories.’
For instance U.S. Marines, so I guess there’s more than meets the eye, or it doesn’t matter, or something.
Since I doubt you’ll ever let me know, I’m guessing that ‘that’s it.’
The mystery keeps bringing me back.
September 17th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Since your categories make no sense, why should I?
And gosh, Art, American Media just told the truth I guess, James Brown was just a drunk…

September 18th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Great Posts Joni!!!! Keep telling it like it is!!!!!
September 18th, 2008 at 7:22 pm
Guess what the mother of five only have 2 children under the age of 10. The rest of them are grown up and with daddy very capable of taking care of everybody in the household.
Frankly, it is nobody’s business what the arrangement in her household is. All these years they told us women has a CHOICE and can do anaything. At least respect the woman’s CHOICE to have a career and a family. And it is not even that you really care about her children.
September 20th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
Sarafina, you tell ‘em, lol. They don’t say those things about the men that have kids, do they?
NANE, so good to see you!! It’s been a long time and I’m glad to know you are still around here. It’s nice to see some of the others also. I’ll keep on telling it like it is as long as Art allows me and I still have breath in me, lol. I’ve been a Democrat all my life and can’t believe I’m so in favor of McCain. Having Palin really helps alot. She was an excellent choice. Of course, you all know I was for Hillary, but I’m not married to my party and if they have someone like Obama running for president of this country, then I have to take matters into my own hands and go against my party. Alot of Hillary supporters are all doing the same thing and alot of big names are coming out in support of McCain/Palin who were Hillary supporters. I think Sarah Palin will do very well and hope they make it to the White House. God help us all, if Obama gets in.
The DNC pushed out Hillary. They didn’t want her in there doing things that would go against what their greedy hearts had in mind. They knew they had to get her out. Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Donna Brazille, Obama and a few others were all in on it.
I make up my own mind whom I think is the better candidate and stick with that, lol. I’m not a little lamb, lol. GO MCCAIN AND PALIN!
Also, GO HOWARD!! I wish him the best of luck in all his suits against everyone who made his life miserable. My thoughts and prayers still go out to him (and always will)and his family.
September 20th, 2008 at 11:45 pm
Sarafina:
Yes, indeed, I loved seeing Sarah. I expected to see a meek school-teacher type of person and was ecstatic to see someone as knowledgeable as she is, with a clear, flawless, magnificient speaking voice and so beautiful.
I know someone who is almost as vivacious as Sarah. She tells people she is high on life.
I never cared about politics nor did I pay attention to the candidates involved. Several years ago when I was being pestered about voting, I finally told the person “all right, fine, just tell me what to do”. He hesitatingly told me and that was the only time I voted. This year, however, I was so pumped up with anger about was was being done to Howard K. Stern, I guess that was what propelled me to get emotionally involved at the way Hillary was being mistreated.
At the ripe old age of 60 I will be pushing myself to vote this year.
September 21st, 2008 at 12:22 am
I am happy for Sarah Palin. She loves her family and seems to have a real man for a husband. Children do not satisfy a woman’s every need. Why waste an intelligent and powerful mind while hiding from the world? An unfulfilled person cannot be a good mother; the father is just as responsible for the birth of his children.
savesomething, think of that Japanese princess who attended Harvard or some other excellent school. She was described as an exceptionally wonderful person by her former classmates. Once she got married, the Japanese law was so strict as to forbid her from accompanying her husband in his travels abroad because she had to conceive in Japan and nowhere else. She had a hard time conceiving and was a virtual prisoner due to being a princess. She eventually had a breakdown and her husband faulted the law that turned her into the sad person she became. She eventually had a child but the damage to her mental health, I am sure, is permanent.
I believe that a woman is the only person who can make decisions concerning her body and soul because it belongs to her and her only.
Another example is that young lady in Florida whose child is missing. Even though she looked happy in all her photos taken with her child, it is a shame if she harmed that child. I do not condone it, but that is proof that no one should tell the owner of a womb what to do. If her pregnancy was an accident, she alone should have been able to decide the outcome of that pregnancy, not anyone else. Now, not only has that child disappeared, the entire family is being put through hell by the people who have decided to take the law into their own hands.
That’s my opinion. You do not have to like it, accept it or change your own opinion — (even if I am right!) (Just a little humor.)
September 22nd, 2008 at 6:45 pm
Isabel I am glad you are going to vote. Please do that!! We cannot afford Obama. And since the whole world is hypnotized with him, let us, the sober ones, go and do the right thing. One day they will thank us.
Joni, glad to see you back, you and Isabel had me a little scared when you were so quiet.
But politics are becoming too much for me, my husband and I decided not to watch TV anymore, and especially not to watch the interviews between the candidates.
Wish me luck, it will be difficult. But I get so upset with the unfairness and the rudeness of the Obama Demorcrats out there, that it will do me good to step away.
But you know me, it will be hard!!
September 22nd, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Hry Joni! Good to be back!!!
I agree with everyword in your posts!!! I too,was a Demo.,
All of the bashing of Sarah has made me see the light.
HLS all over again!
Sarah P. is “a breath of fresh air”, the media and

I wonder where Anne has been. I haven’t seen her in a long time. I hope she’s ok. Anne if you are still here, let us know you are ok.
Sarafina, I got tired of checking here all the time only to see nothing was happening, lol.

Joy Henley,
Thank you for your post. It makes so much sense. The only thing I can say is WOW!
