He says he’s innocent, yet in the middle of his reelection campaign, Sen. Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican senator and among those pushing for more off-shore drilling and alternative energy sources, was indicted Tuesday on seven counts of failing to disclose a reported quarter million dollars in free services for his home makeover–from an oil services company and their execs.
According to the indictment, Veco Corp. officials played remodeler to tune up his home in Girdwood, Alaska, a ski resort town outside Anchorage, with a new wraparound deck, new first floor, garage, new plumbing and wiring, and outfitted it with a Viking Gas Grill, furniture and tools—-not to mention a new Land Rover for one of his children.
Check out our transcript from the Justice Department presser on the case Tuesday:

He’s not alone: an Alaska GOP congressman is also under investigation on unrelated federal charges.
”I have proudly served this nation and Alaska for over 50 years. My public service began” in World War II,” said Stevens in a statement. “It saddens me to learn that these charges have been brought against me. I have never knowingly submitted a false disclosure form required by law as a U.S. senator.”

Somehow, this reminds me of Exxon and Shell.
Well, at least, we all now know they can clean up their spills, right?

It’s kinda funny…
I took my daughter and her friend and her father to a Japanese Steak House for a birthday celebration…
And, they put on a show…with the flame throwing…and they serve chicken, fish and beef…
“Where’s the pork?”
Maybe they have some kind of ‘silent’ rebellion going on.
I requested ‘no soy’ and they ignored that, and I should not have left them the nice tip, I did.
