D.C. Corruption? Inside U.S. v. Sen. Ted Stevens

He says he’s innocent, yet in the middle of his reelection campaign, Sen. Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican senator and among those pushing for more off-shore drilling and alternative energy sources, was indicted Tuesday on seven counts of failing to disclose a reported quarter million dollars in free services for his home makeover–from an oil services company and their execs.
According to the indictment, Veco Corp. officials played remodeler to tune up his home in Girdwood, Alaska, a ski resort town outside Anchorage, with a new wraparound deck, new first floor, garage, new plumbing and wiring, and outfitted it with a Viking Gas Grill, furniture and tools—-not to mention a new Land Rover for one of his children.
