“Look at those two assholes not getting anywhere fast,” said one witness, who told police Hulk Hogan’s son, Nick, behind the wheel of a yellow Toyota Supra, and a pal driving his mother’s Dodge Viper were “racing between lights” on the streets of Clearwater, Florida August 26, 2007. Weaving, tires smoking. Then Nick Bollea loses control and hits the 25 foot palm tree.
Shocking, little known details about the party boys that day, and their street racing before the crash. Never came out in court because Bollea plead no contest to reckless driving; no criminal trial necessary. But attorneys for the victim’s family lay it all out in a civil suit that charges Nick’s parents with negligence. They’ve denied any wrongdoing. Read on–and weep.
To find answers Hulk Hogan didn’t have for a Larry King Live the other night, we cued up the video, and dug up the exhaustive Nick Bollea Clearwater Police investigation into the tragic crash that’s put the hot-rodding Baby Hulkster behind bars for eight months, and left his friend, ex-Marine John Graziano, 23, hospitalized with permanent brain damage.
“He made a mistake,” Hogan said of his son Nick Bollea, 17, who pled no contest to the reckless driving incident last August. Hulk appeared to choke up when detailing the stress the accident, and other crisis (like his wife filing for divorce after 23 years and dating a 19 year old) have put him and his family under.
According to the crash report, an officer noted Nick’s bloodshot eyes and said he was “mumbling” his words after the smashup.
A blood alcohol test on the 17 year old driver registered .034, well within the legal limit, but still raised questions how an underage youngster came to be drinking and driving that day, and whether Hulk was aware (he denies it) that his son may have been impaired. Even at that low level, the prosecutor tells me alcohol can affect judgment and reaction time.
Hulk never did address questions raised about video cameras that caught him buying party supplies in a liquor store with his son the day of the crash, or who was drinking aboard his boat that day and why Nick was still driving after numerous speeding tickets.
In an interview with Assistant State Attorney Scott Rosenwasser, he denied Nick was in the store, and that he never saw Nick drinking alcohol later on the boat, or anywhere that day.
Another friend, however, says Nick later had a greenish cup, with something in it, not sure what it was. After he waded ashore with friends, a beach bar security guard said the liquid looked clear and he wasn’t stumbling or acting drunk.
As for speeding tickets, he received one after being clocked doing 115 mph in a 70 mile zone in 2006, and got stopped twice in the same day on Florida’s lonely stretch of Alligator Alley two weeks before the Graziano crash– doing over 100 mph.
Both times, Hulk was in the car, says the report. The first time, the cop let him off with a warning; the second time, Nick got the ticket. Hulk has never explained why he didn’t snatch the keys away, trade places, and allowed the boy to keep speeding. That day, they were driving the family Mercedes.
As for his son’s sentence, Hulk claimed other wrecks that lead to convictions for vehicular homicide bring no more than six months in jail for most Joe Blows.
But Assistant State Attorney Scott Rosenwasser tells me Hulk needs to get a law school refresher, that eight years behind bars is more like it. The sentence would likely have been stiffer had it gone to trial, but Nick plead no contest. The victim’s family didn’t want him to do more than a year in jail. Nick was sentenced to eight months, with the Graziano’s blessing, and has been whining ever since, according to jailhouse audiotapes the sheriff and released to the media.
Any questions Hulk may be dodging now he will likely hear again from veteran prosecutor –turned personal injury lawyer George Tragos, who represents Graziano, the injured Marine, when the civil suit for negligence goes to trial.
According to a bollea-graziano-lawsuit filed by John Graziano’s family seeking unspecified damages, Hulk Hogan and Linda Bolea, Nick’s parents, should be held accountable for arming their son with the modified race car that became a dangerous weapon.
Here’s the Clearwater Police press release announcing Hulk’s son was arrested in connection with the tragic crash.
Do you think Nick is a menace to society?
Should his parents be held accountable? Check out the police report and let us know your thoughts, and the sentences drivers received in your area for reckless driving resulting in serious injury or death. We plan to forward the information on to Hulk so he doesn’t feel Nick got such a raw deal.

Dear Art,
Alligator Alley is not a sterch…it’s a stretch.
I know you must hate it when you make a typo.
And, that’s just it, only it doesn’t really hurt anyone, does it.
Hogan probably needs to back off and let his son grow up. Too, bad about his mother, guess she needs to grow up a bunch, too.
Maybe Hogan could work in the restaurant business with his brother…it was a happy place…back about 15 years ago in Lakeland. Wonder if it’s still there?
I’m darn lucky to be alive. I know about driving fast, and being driven fast “In Cars With Boys” (isn’t that similar to a movie title, anyway that’s why I used quotation marks, just in case).
Alligator Alley is a tranquil place, far from city lights, and you can really see the stars. Anyway, you used to be able to. The scary thing was not knowing what kind of animal might be in the road…and at more than a hundred and ten you just never know…

…now, no one will understand my first sentence…
Thanks Art!!!

Question: If John shoud die can Nick be charged with vehicular manslaughter?
June 16th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
Might I suggest putting him on ‘A Track,’ I mean a legal one.
There are some good ‘Driving Schools,’ too.
The ‘boy’ obviously needs a hobby, as all young people need and crave learning and adrenalin.
Might scare some wits into his mom, even.
Gee, I think she might be having a ‘mid-life crises.’

Have you ever been ‘petty’ enough to try to make a Leo jealous?
Makes me think of “Moon Pie” lyrics.
OKay, Otay, Art…I know I’m done now, LOL.

I have two feelings on this situation. I do feel sorry as for what their going through. It has to be difficult. But I do believe the parents should take partial blame. I know Nick has a brain, and know’s that it’s illegal to be driving over the speed limit and underage drinking. BUT it doesn’t help him none when his very own parents are buying them alcohol and basically encouraging him to drive fast. I had seen a video on TMZ few months back where someone called Linda Hogan out for saying she loved going fast, and she DENIED IT…but like in the video above she’s admitting it. Maybe she needs to think before she speaks. Nick should do more time then what he’s already got. Even though the victin isn’t dead, Nick basically has killed his life by his poor choices. What I don’t understand is, someone can shoot a police officer and get life in prison. But an avarage person could go right up to someone and kill that person and only get about 5 years. WHAT? A life is a life, no matter if you work for the law or not. IMO that makes one life more valuable then the other, and it shouldn’t.
But what the Hogan’s got is two spoiled brats, who’ve gotten everything handed to them, and Linda and Hulk should have been more parents then friends to their children.

Joelie,
You do too, feel sorry (sad).
You wouldn’t be ‘here’ otherwise…
There’s a time a place for everything, and what do you think of Nick on a legal track benefitting, or to benefit, his friend that he did permanent damage to, yet not intentionally.
Wouldn’t that be nice.
Let’s try to save some kind of grace in all of this tragedy we call life…
Dear Nancy,
Now that you’re a real live mother I know you can relate.
I wasn’t quite sure before, but after having twins I’m absolutely sure.
Isn’t this a wonderful world and country…have you ever thought of maybe becoming a Republican?
I know you work hard, and I know how hard you love your babies.
I know you’re smart and beautiful…
But you’re bosses are…
Oh, nevermind…

We have a son close to the same age and we have never nor will be EVER purchase or supply alcohol for him or his friends. What a stupid and negligent thing for them to do. To supply a teenage boy w/alcohol and sports car…what, was a can of gasoline watching a match taken? I think the Hulk needs to loosen his bandana, and how was he allowed to wear that thing in court anyway? If I went to court wearing a tiara they’d make me take it off, I’m sure. Why is this young man allowed to drive after so many offenses? He is endangering his passengers, fellow motorists, public and private property. So he saw a movie about “drifting” and his parents lavishly meet his whims, buy him a sports car and allow him to ‘hone’ his craft on public streets. I hope the courts see fit to suspend his license to drive for five years and his parents have to chaffeaur his spoiled butt around. When they’re not available then he should have to ride a bike wearing a bright pink shirt that has why he can’t drive a car and a picture of his victim on it. He should also have to write a check for one dollar and mail it to the family on the day it occured i.e. the accident happened on a Tuesday, then every Tuesday he has to write a check and mail it to the family. It’s not the amount that’s significant, of coarse, it’s just one dollar, but to make him remember what he did and to be mindful. I saw that done on an HBO special where a young person did close to the same thing, but the victim was killed instead. It really made the guy crack, he tried to do everything to get out of that, but to no avail. I believe also that Hulk should be brought up on charges since he purchased the alcohol and the car. We need to start getting really tough on these kids. Who do they think they are, racing on public streets endangering us all for their playground?

It’s hard to feel sorry for Terry Bolea (Hulk) in this situation. If you watched their VH1 show, their family appeared to be consumed with their own pride and arrogance. Bolea may try to “sugar coat” his remarks about the victim when he claimed that “God laid some heavy “stuff” on that dude” …and then Nicholas Bolea referred to him as “a negative person” …but those remarks are simply in-defensible and totally “class-less.” Hate to say it, but the Bolea’s “deserve exactly what they get!”
June 18th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Wayne, Bev and Joelie, I agree with all of you 100%
I still think that kids that do things like this should be made to spend time in an emergency room and look first hand at what they cause on our highways. No one is safe with spoiled rotten brats like this doing whatever they please on public road that we all have to drive on.
I think when Nick gets out, he should be made to help take care of his friend so many hours a week for at least the next 5 or 10 years. If we had judges doing that, maybe kids would think twice before doing the things they do. I also blame Nick’s parents. They encouraged this.

curious….exactly what is the accountablity of the various jurisdictions of Fl police who apparently refuse to apply the laws that apply to juveniles (under 21) driving in this state? As a resident, this is Florida law enforcement typical response to celebrity lawbreakers and their children and demonstrates to everyone once again how Florida’s infamously corrupt local and state police departments and county attorneys can be bought or manipulated. Obviously if the police in even one county who caught this kid and charged him with a
DUI, which also has educational implications, the young marine wouldn’t be in a vegetative state.
in addition, there are precedent cases in the state holding parents accountable for their child’s actions in the case of drinking, driving, and other types of bad behavior..
June 19th, 2008 at 3:12 am
I agree with Wayne and Bev… We all know that Nick did not even consider the consequences of his actions that night…BUT…My heart is with John & his family…BUT..he {John} should not have been “RACING”…SHOULD NICK be singled out because he has a FAMOUS DAD & is labelled as a “SPOILT BRAT”???…I don’t have an answer to this..BUT I would like to make a comment:- “Most deaths in AMERICA occur from drugs/alcohol/speeding {ignoring the Gang related shootings}…SURE Nick was SPOILT ROTTEN…but should “Hulk” be held accountable for giving him a high powered car???…I think not…THE ONUS IS ON NICK who enjoyed the lifestyle of the “likes” of Paris Hilton etc who are the AMERICAN IDOLS {YUK!!!}
June 19th, 2008 at 3:39 am
oops…hit the submit button accidentally…my post continues…
NICK is accountable for his actions, as should be anyone who is involved in a similar situation {be it a high powered car or a “stolen” piece of “junk”}..NICK will have to live with the knowledge that he destroyed John..and his families life {probably forever}.
I urge AMERICA to treat this tragic situation FAIRLY..please do not differentiate between the “HAVE and THE HAVE NOTS”…I can assure you that if the driver of the car that caused John’s injuries was “penniless” then this would not be in the news!!! {NATURALLY a “penniless” person wouldn’t have a high powered car..nor the lifestyle that Nick was used to….Please take this into consideration!}
There is an old saying…”SPARE THE ROD…SPOIL THE CHILD”…I am sure that we are all guilty of this..but sadly Nick WAS in control of a high powered car & under the influence of alcohol…Nick should be found responsible!
Sorry to have been sooo long winded, I hope that others will comment..because I truly do not know how to charge him!
Cheers from “down-under”

Dear Art,
You must be on vacation.
You know as well as me, that if ‘The Law’ really wanted to do their job they could just sit outside those bars at closing time.
What about those illegals?
What about border patrol, LOL.
I love math, but some things just don’t add up.
