Big “O” Makes History: 1st Black Prez. Nominee! Tell Us: Should He Pick Hillary As His Veep?
By Art Harris, (c) www.artharris.com, all rights reserved
Even as he claimed historic victory stripes with enough delegates to be the first African American Democratic Party candidate for President, Sen. Barack Obama reached out Tuesday night to a crestfallen opponent and praised Hillary Clinton as a crusader for a better America.
But as we all saw, she didn’t leap to congratulate, or resciprocate. She wasn’t ready to throw in the towel. Yet. And that could present a big problem, and some say, a missed opportunity to unite the party at a critical moment.
To his credit, Obama resisted the urge to overreact to her reaction, and allowed her camp time to digest what happened: a former President and First Lady who over the years have crusaded for civil rights, narrowed the country’s racial divide and laid the foundation for a minority, whether a black or a woman, to become President…find their own dreams shot down, in part, by what they came to stand for.
Now the question is whether they can work together as a so called Dream Team Ticket, and whether he should even offer her second slot given the campaign’s bitter blood?
Let us know if you think Obama should invite Hillary to ride shotgun, or offer her and former President Bill Clinton another role to help beat John McCain in the fall.
June 4th, 2008 at 12:42 am
Hillary won the popular vote. Hillary won the battleground states and Hillary WILL win in November. Hillary must be on the ticket. As the presidential candidate or the VP. While Hillary can win it without him, Barack cannot win it without her.
June 4th, 2008 at 12:44 am
I will control myself and make no more comments on Obama. I hope I can make it.
June 4th, 2008 at 6:46 am
NO,He should not pick Hillary,as VP.He should not have the benifit of her knowledge,Let him pick his own,People wanted the con artist, now let him sink on his own.or if I am wrong, make it on his own.
June 4th, 2008 at 9:22 am
He should absolutely not pick her! She just needs to go away and have a happy life.
June 4th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
Obama is a racist and associates with other racists. He and his crew caused the Clinton’s words to be construed as racist… and it worked brilliantly!
I can’t stand Obama and would never vote for him. He will NOT choose Hillary becaue he thinks he can win on his own. He really is arrogant! Calling the reporter “Sweetie” is the real sexist and racist obama.
When he looses to McCain, Hillary will be proved right about everything.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
Looks like some of ‘us’ are falling for this, LOL.
Dear Art,
Those ‘O’s’ sure are pretty.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
No Hillary. Absolutely not. Unless he wants to be double-teamed by Hill and Bill.
June 4th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
He is not an African American.
Not in my eyes.
He’s just a pretty ‘tanned jewish’ boy.
Yet was Jesus?
Hope is a good thing…
Guess none of ‘us’ are pure ‘bloods’ anymore.
Reminds me of those gangs, and all those children living in the streets, and starving, and I’d really like to promote birth control in all ‘it’s’ many forms.
June 4th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Like Kerry said, Hillary can make it on her own, Obama not. He needs at least the votes of her supporters.
I agree with you Beverly, you have said it well.
June 4th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
I agree with Linda and Beverly. Kerry is right in that he needs Hillary to get enough votes, but I hope that either he asks her and she turns him down, or that he just doesn’t even ask her. He doesn’t deserve to get her votes. Let him sink or swim on his own. Let him start being a biggy boy now. Time for him to grow up.
It looks like he’s scrambling already to get the Jewish vote, which he also doesn’t deserve after being in that “church” for 20 years listening and also agreeing with the anti semitism, anti American, and anti white “cult sermons”.
Linda you are right, he is very arrogant!
June 4th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
No, because he can’t win without her. I agree with Beverly, let him sink or swim on his own without her help. I think he is a threat to the future of this great country. I’m sure we will be finding out a lot more about Obama in the coming months and the American people will wise up and wake up. Frankly, he scares the heck out of me and the fact that he has come this far is shocking.
June 4th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
She would be a a horrible v.p. and would never submit to his position in the white house. I fear for obamas safety if she were the v.p
June 5th, 2008 at 1:01 am
EJ - you’re the only one I agree with!!!
June 5th, 2008 at 6:05 am
No, absolutely not. Why would he want to deal with Hillary stealing his thunder, not to mention Bill and his baggage. Too risky. He would better be served by making Bill an ambasador at large and making Hillary a principal advisor during his campaign and by giving her what she wants in his adminisistration (God forbid).
June 5th, 2008 at 8:28 am
EJ I don’t get into politics since the first time Art had an article on this race and I was jumped all over all I have to say is Yes We Can and people should remember if only because of the ANS case that the news always goes for what will bring in money even if it isn’t the truth. If you listen to faux news they are worse than any other station about Senator Obama and about Senator Clinton.I think it is about even in how they were treated in the news.JMHO
June 5th, 2008 at 8:33 am
There is one thing I’d like to clarify. On one of my comments on one of these threads, I was wondering how Howard was doing and saying I hoped he knew he still had supporters out there. I also said something about there are some of us who cannot be bought.
It just occured to me that that could be misconstrued. There’s alot of that going around these days. I didn’t mean that HE was trying to buy anyone, lol. I was referring to some people who were once for him and now (for some reason) have gone to the “other side”. I thought maybe someone on the “other side” had bought them off. That is what I was referring to, lol. I do hope he is doing ok.
June 5th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
The one and only reason Hillary should team up with Obama is so that she and Bill can keep their eyes wide open to keep that terrorist from bringing the likes of his “former” church clowns to the White House.
The White House basement would have to be thoroughly checked — hourly — for intruders prone to scream and call attention to their ignorance. The only peep out of that basement would be ugly words peppered with “white”.
Hey, how about giving those fools cans of white paint to paint to their heart’s content? White paint on sunny days will be good for their eyesight!
Maybe “former” is a brand new word Osama has learned and is trying to test. I wish Osama luck with his newfound knowledge.
June 5th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Osama should have no problem getting Jewish votes. After all, his ancestors are responsible for liberating their country.

Where did “Joy” go?
June 5th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Susanna
That is a very irresponsible thing you are saying about Hillary.
June 6th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
It’s interesting, the world loves and respects former president J. Carter but not in the USA. J. has alot of power in his party but not with the voters in the USA. When he was president he was an outsider who couldn’t work any deals with congress and was not a very effective president. I think O. will be the same.
June 6th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
I agree with Anne, MR. O scares me to death. Something will happen. Mrs. Clinton won the vote, she should be the winner. But, I would rather see her as the VP, at least we know her and trust her to do what is best for this country.
Re: Howard. Those who were so against him have now seen him doing the things he has to do to take care of Anna and her daughter, just as he said he would. Howard is a good man just as we all thought. My best wishes to him that his dreams will be fulfilled. That he will be close to the baby, as it should be.
June 6th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Hum? I haven’t a clue. I was open minded about O’bama, but now he will never get my vote. Not even if Hillary is on the ticket. He lacks character, experience and the intigrity to run our country IMO. And also, I don’t like the race card being played AT ALL! He is every ounce white as he is black! It’s beyond offensive and it just keeps the racism pot stirring in American. Why does he feel the need to “choose” a race? There is nothing wrong with being part black and part white. I will never understand this mentality. It stunts the growth of this great country - America.
June 6th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Beverly I totally agree with your philosophy, and remarks something about that man an his platform is scary and my feelings are the people that gave HIM his favors are going to be calling it soon hello Vice President Oprah…
FRIEDA> can you please find another place to vent your racist comments your emotional intelligence is severly lacking, and I am offended by your remarks stop it!
June 7th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Mary #20……. I agree.
Missy #23…… Most of us love Frieda and enjoy her comments. I just don’t think you understand her. Lacking in intelligence (emotionally or otherwise) is far from the truth - as is accusing her of making racist comments.
June 7th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
Dear missy m weeps for Anna,
You know I had to look that up, LOL.

I’ll try.

Joy went back to Africa!!
I am very homesick nowadays, I heard Miriam Makeba (great singer from SA) on BBC the other night and became soooo homesick that I decided to use a name that is closer to home.
June 8th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
I was actually homesick looooong before I heard Miriam. But who cares….. I feel honoured to be in this great country of USA at such a time as this and try very hard to be excited for all of you.
But like a mother I tend to be too sceptical, perhaps I should see it this way:
You can warn your daughter that she is about to marry a heartbreaker, but you cannot make decisions for her. So you stand with her, and when her heart is broken like you know it would, you should be there, not to say “I told you so”, but to say “Let’s see how we can make it better”.
God bless America
June 9th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
#16,Isabel, You’re talking like a crazy person. Why should Hillary and Bill keep their eyes open for Obama? She did’nt have her damn eyes open when Monica was tooting Bill’s horn, so get a life. Then again, maybe she did and participated. Get a life! You’re really sounding pathetic in post #16. If you are a democrat, you’d better make sure your house is in order because you’re in for the same old thing you’ve gotten for the last 7 years. Maybe you can afford it. LOL. Maybe you don’t have to work, good for you, but you’d better make sure all is well with you. On the other hand, if you’re republican, I don’t expect much from you.
June 10th, 2008 at 3:18 am
WAKE UP AMERICA…IRAN WILL BOMB ISRAEL…Just as sure as Bill will “POKE!” The American people VOTED that they would like their President TO BE ANYONE BUT HILLARY!!!..stop all this nonsense and start caring about your country…your VOTE will change the WORLD…Many countries are relying on you…PLEASE VOTE FOR JOHN McCAIN!
June 11th, 2008 at 12:25 am
EJ:
I am neither Republican nor Democrat. I am also color blind. I have sensitive antennae that picks up all I need in order to make my decisions. When the transmission is poor or I ignore the message, I make mistakes.
June 11th, 2008 at 12:34 am
EJ:
P.S. As a nurse, former or retired (whichever) you must realize that depression can make people pessimistic, bitter, short tempered, etc. It does not hurt to try and figure out what works best to alleviate one’s suffering under those conditions. I speak from experience that the pain is real.
June 11th, 2008 at 12:37 am
My reference to “antennae” and “transmission” is not to be taken seriously. It was meant to be humorous.
June 11th, 2008 at 8:15 am
Isabel,
How did depression get into this conversation. I really don’t understand what you’re talking about, but I guess it’s whatever floats your boat. Do you know what color blind is? I can’t tell from your previous comments.
Joni,
Since you’re so perfect and are talking about Obama’s past usage of cocaine, I hope no bones are rattling in your closet. LOL. He didn’t say he used it on a daily basis, but this too was long ago. What have you done in your life that you’re not proud of? Remember no man is perfect, but the Father. Get a grip and remember don’t let those skeletons loose hovering in your closet. LOL
June 11th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
EJ, I’m not perfect, I’m human like anyone else, and I certainly didn’t mean to give the impression that I am. No one is, including me. Now, as far as skeletons, I have a lifetime of painful memories. Does that make you feel better now? Do they constitute skeletons? I really don’t understand this facination you seem to have with what is in my heart, my mind and now my closets. This is a bit scary EJ.
Obama is out in the public now and is fair game, just like anyone else. He’ll have to get used to public scrutiny just the same as everyone else, except so far, he’s been given a pass, while Hillary has been put through the wringer, even Bill has had to go through all kinds of crap all over again. Now they are picking on McCain. Again, I ask, why is Obama being given this “free” pass? Something is not right here and I want to know what is really going on.
I certainly had to wonder what was going on a little while back when all the sudden, the superdelegates (those who supported Hillary) suddenly went over to him. It seemed a bit too much to be a coincidence. It happened, I think, right before or after he lost PA, or around that time.
I hear Iran’s president is happy Obama may be our next president. Hmmmmm. Now THAT is really scary.

EJ:
My boat is floating merrily up and down Niagara Falls. My preference was a barrel, but then I thought that was not original since others have already tried that stunt.
Where in the world does it show I am not color blind? The only reason I mention the names of those people for whom I have intense dislike, and it so happens they are black, has nothing to do with their pigmentation. In my opinion, they are bad people, troublemakers, who do all they can to stir up trouble so they can go march up and down, shake people down for their money by accusing them of having been racist and have their ugly faces plastered all over the news. They are worshiped by those they have thoroughly brainwashed and made a fool of. Does Tawana Brawley ring a bell? My intense dislike also includes John Kerry, the creep, his wife, that “feiffer” the priest who should be packaged immediately and sent to the guillotine, my ex-husband, my current bad husband… I could go on and on and they are all white. How about that?
I mentioned depression they way I did because I wanted to be subtle. I think you may be depressed because you are easily bothered by any comment that does not elevate your favorite candidate to the throne. Furthermore, he has a very small portion of black in him. He pretends otherwise and despises white people. Who does he think is responsible for the royal way he was brought up? His white grandparents loved him very much. He lived in Hawaii, a paradise and provided with the best life and education. His mother worked hard and loved him as well. The man he adores and with whom he feels a strong kinship is the man who abandoned him. Figure that one out! I wish his grandmother had spent her money more wisely and had sent him to live where he would probably be in charge of caring for the animals and fetching water under that hot sun. The rest of the family would probably be busy plotting the overthrow of the United States.

I’ll bet Joni’s closet is neat as a pin.
June 12th, 2008 at 2:57 am
Has everyone seen “Red October?”
Glad not any ‘one person’ is ever ‘in charge!!!’
Hey, there’s a thought…Denzel Washington for VP?
June 12th, 2008 at 8:44 am
Isabel,
You’re far out! I will leave it to you PERFECTIONISTS, to sort this bs out! LOL.
June 12th, 2008 at 12:26 pm
Isabel,
Good post, but it doesn’t matter how much you tell some people something, they just don’t want to believe the truth.I found that out a long time ago.
It serves their perverse little minds so much better, to think the worst about someone. I believe some actually are sane enough to differenciate the truth from the fiction, but they get more “fun” out of harrassing people. They need help, but won’t get it because then they’d have to face the real truth and that would take away all their perverse “fun”.
Isabel, thank you, and skeleton wise, I guess you could say my closets are “neat as a pin”. I’ve lead a rather ordinary and mundane life and am a very unremarkable person. I’m sure alot of people would have died from boredom, lol. I hate to disappoint EJ with that news, but as far as the other things I have in my closets, they do get pretty messy after awhile until I take everything out and put them back in more neatly, a job I detest.
I don’t know why she is so obsessed with what is in my mind, heart, and any skeletons that she wishes I had. To me that is pretty sick. As I have already stated, I have put my heart and mind into all my posts. What everyone sees here is just the way I am all the time. All my family and friends can attest to that, not that I have to prove anything to EJ. She seems to have focused all her anger toward me mostly, even though others feel the same way about Obama as I do. Maybe it’s because I had courage enough to say things that just needed to be said. Maybe she just needs to have someone to bully and I got picked, lol.
June 13th, 2008 at 12:01 am
EJ:
I will wrap myself in that word PERFECTIONIST until it soaks through me and eventually reach my pea brain. I may yet emerge as the female Hulk, at which time I can honestly say I was reborn. As an American born, I can run for the presidency. Now that will be far out!
June 13th, 2008 at 12:11 am
Joni:
Speaking of skeletons, I just checked my closet. You wouldn’t believe all the garbage that fell out and the stench! After digging through that mess, out comes my husband and his many ex-wives plus all his putrid (adult) sons. The exes were pulverized. The urge to squash his sons was even stronger than the urge to squash him. My poor stomach! Will I ever recuperate?

Jill from Western Australia:
I don’t know what it will take to wake up these people who have been put in a trance and fed messages straight from the devil’s mouth. This osamapropaganda is more lethal than the mad cow disease.
June 13th, 2008 at 9:39 am
Isabel,
LOL, it sounds like you need an exterminator to clean out your closets. That was funny.
June 16th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
I get nervous just hearing about closets….
September 18th, 2008 at 2:33 am
My question is how did Obama become “black” if he is the product of a white and a black parent? Simply because he chose to disown one side and identify with the other side? That is his typical dishonest proclamation of being something he is not.
If you see a vanila and chocolate cake in a bakery, would you ask the baker to hand you over the “black” or the “whiite” cake? How pathetic is that?
