Robert Shapiro: Drug Problem? Will Travel To Save Lives
From Bald Truth Staff, (c) www.artharris.com, all rights reserved
To prevent the kind of tragedy that happened to their son, the Shapiro’s give away Save A Life cards, detailing drug and alcohol danger signs. Had Brent’s friends recognized them and acted fast, he might be alive today, his parents believe.
Why not print one out, and give it away to family, friends, anyone you know who goes out on the town.

Brent Shapiro Foundation Gives Away Save A Life Cards To Educate Young People
At the foundation fundraiser, every table had dozens of cards in the center.
“Please take a handful with you,” urged Robert Shapiro, who hopes bringing addiction out in the open and fighting to remove its stigma will save other children.

Art, thank you so much for writing these articles on your site. I just hope that more people who are able to get to a big portion of the public will do what Mr. Shapiro and his wife are doing. Maybe you can get Nancy Grace to do a show on this and you could be on it. People like you and Mr. Shapiro and others need to wage an all out war against drugs and alcohol.
After reading your other article about the party and Paris Hilton, I had a very strong feeling that after she left the party, she went out drinking. I hope I’m wrong. Time will tell. Some of these people need to be slapped up along side the head.
I think kids need to be heavily educated in this matter at a young age and have it kept up all through the years.
Somehow we have to make it understood among the young and older people alike, that excessive alcohol and any drugs just aren’t cool and are not acceptable and will not be tolerated, period! Kids need to be taught to always be in control of their lives and know what is going on around them and be strong and not give in to peer pressure. They need to be taught values and to stick to those values at all times or they will have to bear the consequences.
They need to be taught to give of themselves and not be so self centered. Everything is me, me, me. They also need to be shown that they can have a good time without any alcohol or drugs. Drugs and alcohol are destroying our young and older people as well and we all end up paying the price. People are so self centered and all they want to do is anything that makes them feel good.
Well, they could feel just as good another way by helping people less fortunate than themselves. Kids are given anything they want without having to work for it. Teens should be made to have a part time job and earn the money themselves if they want something. They need to be taught values and that they can’t just come to the parents if they want money. They need to be told they will have to earn it and in a respectable way. That is how values are taught.
I believe parents aren’t doing nearly all they should be doing in raising their kids. Being a parent is a fulltime job 24/7. If parents did more with their kids and taught them the right things, alot more kids would grow up being the person everyone wants to be around and can be proud of. Parents should not go bailing out their kids everytime they get into trouble, like Hulk Hogan is trying to do to his rotten kid. He should be made to suffer the whole term in jail where he belongs.
Kids that get into trouble should be made by the courts to spend some time in an emergency room watching people who have been in a horrible accident from a drunk driver, or someone who has been shot over a drug deal gone bad, or someone who has just overdosed at a young age. They need to see this stuff first hand to let it really sink in.

Hi Art
What a good idea. Hopefully they can help save a life.
My heart goes out to his parents, but at least they are trying to do something positive instead of blaming other ppl.
Too bad all parents can’t be like the Shapiros and Ledgers who have dealt with the loss of a family matter with respect and class!!

That is so very true and an excellent idea for parents to have. One can never be too safe and cautious with the gift of a child.

Joni
I absolutely agree with your very last paragraph.
Thank you Art, What a great way to turn a negative into a positive, like they say, when life hands you a lemon, make lemonade out of it.
Hope these cards could be distributed through states and placed at strategic places for all to find them.
Hope this wonderful effort will be a huge success, it may even save Paris’s life.
I also think she could not wait to get a drink after what I am sure she considered a “boring” event.
But hopefully the seeds were planted and she and all those who attended may end up changing their ways sooner than later.

Art, does everyone know that you have a poll about whether Hillary should drop out? I only saw it now. But it seems not to be working.
