Obama Roars Back: Wins N.C….Almost Indiana

Will She Go The Distance, Or Is This The Final Round?

He was the comeback kid Tuesday, Barack Obama roaring back to win big in a state where he was favored after a full frontal assault, but also scoring big in the politics of expectations, as he fended off Hillary Clinton’s gas tax attack and knocked his firebrand pastor’s spit balls out of the park.
CNN was predicting Clinton would take Indiana, but just barely, its pundits noting senior citizens, over 65 years old, saved the day for Hillary by turning out en mass.
Hillary appeared composed if anguished; her husband hung back, looking puffy around the eyes as if he’d been fighting back tears, or anger that the wave had not broken as they expected.
Maybe I was reading too much into it. Did I detect a sweet bouquet toss, a softening Hillary urged all Democrats to stay in the party because change would only come if another Republican was denied the White House.
Was the narrow Indiana victory a nail in the Clinton coffin…perhaps a hint she may step down to unite the party behind Obama before more damage is done?
It’s been ugly, and Obama gave a nod to the kind of campaigning he expected, designed to tear the country apart and pit blocks against each other, black, white, rich, poor…He predicted it would get uglier before it got nice…one reminder, the self-proclaimed first black President, Wild Bill, lurking in back of his wife, a reminder the campaign has sowed the seeds of Obama discontent, taking the opposite side of so many African American Obama fans…once the Clinton bedrock…
We haven’t heard the last of the gas tax, pundits were saying, but did Hillary’s failure to win big in Indiana send a message that her days may be numbered. Is that why she was so conciliatory on Tuesday night? Did her list of thank yous, for the voters, her family (”Didn’t Chelsea do a great job?”), her husband, signal a towel toss ahead.
She said it was on to W. Va….where she would “work her heart out,” and reminded supporters the Democratic party “is your party,” and a Democratic President” their only hope for change. What tea leaves do you read in her finale speech Tuesday?
May 7th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
I think she would not insist to be ON TOP anymore, as long as she is on the ticket!!
May 7th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
THE PARTY’S OVER HILLARY AND YOU ARE STILL HANGING AROUND. NOT VERY CLASSY. WE KNOW THAT BUBBA PROMISED YOU THE WHITE HOUSE BUT WE ELECT OUR PRESIDENTS … THE OFFICE IS NOT INHERITED.
May 8th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Hubby says Hillary has something up her sleave, like some info on Obama that will rock his boat, that is why she is not pulling out.
Perhaps she was hoping it won’t be necessary to use the “bomb”, but a girl has got to do what a girl has got to do to get the nomination…
May 8th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
Joy,
I think it would be an interesting ticket, but I don’t think it will happen. Too many things said and done. Another reason I don’t see that happening is he’s for change and she’s the same status quo. I might be wrong, but I don’t think so.

West Virginia polls C 63 by O 23, Kentucky polls she leads by 34,
How big would it be if Clinton’s victories in West Virginia and Kentucky are by these margins? We can guess. Adding together the populations of these two states, we get a number that approaches the population of Virginia.
So no the party isn’t over just yet. Hang on its going to be a bumpy ride.
May 9th, 2008 at 2:01 am
Hillary keep running with gusto.
May 9th, 2008 at 2:25 am
The voters in Florida and the other state whose votes are being ignored need to take their pots and pans to the streets and bang them until their votes are counted. After disrupting a day in their life and standing in the hot Florida sun, dodging crocodiles, snakes, mosquitos, impatient young adults zigzagging around slow elderly drivers, just to be told their votes did not count? Not right.
May 9th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
That’s been her problem all along! That sense of entitlement, and its caused her to lose suport among many people.
May 13th, 2008 at 7:25 pm
EJ
I also think Hillary will constantly undermine him. I was wondering if Al Gore maybe on the ticket?
May 14th, 2008 at 10:36 am
I don’t think Hillary has any sense of entitlement. That is Republican hype. She is a hard worker and would work for all Americans, not just the wealthy ones. Just the way Bill worked for the common people, but you all seem to forget that.
I see now that after months of public outcry, Obama is going to wear that flag pin (I’m sure, much to his chagrin). Gee, he’d better be careful that someone doesn’t think he actually is for America.
I guess someone has finally gotten through to him that he also needs the veteran’s votes as well as us gun toting, religious Americans. After all, they were the ones fighting for this country. It sure takes him long enough to catch on, or be prodded into something. Think what can happen to us in the meantime if he becomes president, while he is catching on to something he should have had enough intelligence to know to begin with. He will do whatever he wants to do if he gets into the White House. He won’t have to bow down to the American people then.
He looks down his imperial nose to those of us he doesn’t want to associate himself with (like the blue collar workers). Well look what PA did in return. He thinks he can insult us and then we’ll turn around and vote for him.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:36 am
EJ, nice to see you back.
May 14th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Florida, maybe. But how can they POSSIBLY count Michigan when hers was the only name on the ballot! What about all those in Michigan who voted AGAINST her?
Many people in those states stayed home on election day because they KNEW their votes wouldn’t count, so this mess didn’t exactly come as a suprize.
I’m wondering if Clintons leads in WV and KY would exsist at ALL or be as wide as it is if she were running against a White man. We’re talking about “DELIVERANCE” country here! Banjo playing Confederate flag waving red-necks who wouldn’t vote for Obama if he walked on water and raised the dead! On many issues, he and Hillary aren’t that far apart, so what’s left BUT skin color? Truth be told, she has little if ANY more experiance than Obama. Her HUSBAND having been president doesn’t qualify her to be POTUS any more than my late husband being a doctor qualifies me to do surgery!
May 15th, 2008 at 1:02 am
Please no not Al Gore.
He has a really sweet wife but other that that…he’s done, I think, I hope, as far as I’m concerned.
I sure do hope this ‘election stuff’ is a hoax…
Although, I really would like to see Lieberman, as a Vice President…
Would he be the oldest, LOL.
Love his smile.
May 15th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
Perhaps John Edwards will be on the ticket. Will Hillary’s supporters find it easier to vote for Obama if Edwards is on?
Has Al Gore already made up his mind, is it Obama or Hillary for him?
Seems McCain may choose Huccabee. Seems like a weak ticket to me. Perhaps Romney would make the ticket stronger, he seems to be strong on the economy.
I could never figure out Edwards and Romney, I simply do not like them, they reminded me about backstabbers I used to work with.
May 15th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
should read “they reminded me OF backstabbers…”
May 16th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
Gosh, wonder how Bin Laudin is today?
Wonder if he’s still alive?
Bet his days are numbered, and shortly before ‘The Election’ THEY will hopefully find him in a spider hole or a cave.
Just think of all the little ‘Bin Laudin’s’ that he’s made, and I’m not talking about DNA.
He was just some dumb radical, that believed he had a bunch of power because his family had money.
I believe we’re getting closer.
I believe we’re making a difference in that middle east.
Life is short, that is the prophesy that should be preached.
Never mind my spelling, you all know what I’m saying.
Gosh right ‘across the street’ there’s Dubai, and a prince employing people, bet Sadam was insane with jealousy, and I bet the leaders of Iran feel the same pain…
Hey, but that man is young, and as bitter as he is, maybe he’s had a few children of his own by now, and knows ‘The Truth’ at last.
I do have hope…Love is the greatest thing.
Caring for a country, must make him feel like a ‘Great Father’ or something…
Hope so!!!

I don’t like John Edwards one single bit. I think he is arrogant. I think he was waiting to see who would be winning the nomination before endorsing that person. It’s funny to see these people coming on board in hopes of being vice president.
That’s what Richardson was doing for awhile. He was sure that Obama would pick him. I don’t see much of those two together anymore. Also Bob Casey. I thought highly of him until he endorsed Obama. Casey is pretty religious and I was surprised that he would overlook Obama and his church the way he did. I think what was “preached” in that church is VERY significant and should not go away. Casey promised Obama the Catholic vote in PA, but that didn’t happen. People in PA didn’t let anyone else sway them. They voted for the person whom they thought would make the best president. Period.
May 17th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
Hi Joni,
I’m always here. I don’t post all the time because I feel sometimes it’s best to be observant instead of opining on something as fluid and controversial as this presidential election.
May 17th, 2008 at 11:42 pm
Edwards, in my opinion, is a weakling trying hard to push his way up somewhere. I do not think he belongs anywhere.
He can keep himself busy and keep his wife company. It seemss to me that he and his wife are very close, which brings McCartney to mind. In a few years he will probably be heartbroken, while some maiden comes to his rescue. Slowly but surely we will be reading about someone who gave it all to a gent in distress only to be kicked around and emotionally abused a la McCartney.
May 17th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
My two cents on Al Gore. He is irrelevant and needs to disappear.
My two cents on Hillary. This is not a good year for her. She needs to take a long rest and come back another time.
On McCain. He needs to cut the BS and aim for the jugular.
On Obama …. take your wife and go parachute jumping without a parachute.
May 18th, 2008 at 12:03 am
Freida:
Bin Laden is doing well and thanks you for thinking of him. Rumor has it he has been very busy overseeing the festivities and keeping his fingers and toes crossed in anticipation of Obama’s win so that he can be invited to the White House. Osama and Obama side-by-side on the lawn while giddily watching the kiddies at the Easter Egg Hunt on the White House lawn. A sight to behold!
May 22nd, 2008 at 10:01 am
Isabel,
That is not nice saying “Obama, take your wife and go parachute jumping without a parachute.” No one wants to see someone hurt or dead over some bs. Stop hating. Whoever wins this, wins this! If Barack is not the nominee, that’s ok, because Hillary won’t be the president, how about that? Talk is cheap, but hatred is running rampant. You guys need to get over this bullshit and stop letting it consume you. One day you will have to account for all of this and more. Those that say they love God whom they’ve never seen and hate their brother who they see everyday, are liars and the truth is not in them. This is from the Good Book.
May 22nd, 2008 at 2:24 pm
LOL EJ, I knew you were still here, just not posting, lol.
May 23rd, 2008 at 1:00 am
“Iran is so tiny”…. it would not hurt a fly, right Obama? His mother must be rolling in her grave whenever he says something so profound!
May 24th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Isabel,
Are you picking on me?
Don’t because I’m a Dumb Monkey, and you’re probably more informed or smarter than me.
So tell me all about that man, that may already be dead, called Bin Laden.
He’s just another man dressed up like a bed.
I got that line from a movie, and I think it fits.
But, I really think you are wrong about Obama, and I think really it hopefully doesn’t matter…
Hope those politicians are Pro Life, and I’m not talking about abortion, but ‘THE BUTTON.’
No one person should have the power…that’s why we have this ‘forgiving system.’
Are you having a bad day?
Hopefully not everyone is.
Hi EJ!!!
May 24th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Never wish things that you regret later!
Isabel,
Wouldn’t you feel bad if Obama had a skydiving accident?
He has kids, and a wife that loves him I’m sure.
I think we both get a little carried away. And, I hope you agree with me.
Wonder what color you are, LOL?
Sure wouldn’t want to meet you face to face.
I think I’d be afraid.
May 24th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
Gosh, Art,
Your ‘threads’ have woven something material hopefully!!!
There’s no hope keeping up with all of this anymore.
My best to you and Harvey, LOL.
May 27th, 2008 at 2:46 am
Freida:
I am not picking on you. I just felt like playing with words.
As far as Obama, though, I like him as much as I like Osama, his clone.
May 27th, 2008 at 2:54 am
Freida:
Sorry, I forgot.
I am not smarter than you. I may be a smart— sometimes.
You probably would not want to meet me face-to-face. Little children always run away screaming when they look into my eyes.
May 27th, 2008 at 2:57 am
Freida:
Oops, I forgot again.
Wishing for something does not make it happen. I should know!
May 27th, 2008 at 3:03 am
EJ:
I don’t care about Hillary.
As I told Freida, wishing for something does not make it happen.
My Good Book is a dictionary. It has never let me down.
May 27th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
Osama Bin Laden surely has people who care about him but that does not mean he does not deserve to be exterminated. Those who love and miss him will have to deal with that problem themselves.
May 28th, 2008 at 5:46 pm
Isabel,
Be careful what you wish for especially when it would do harm to someone. Something much worse could very well happen to you or someone close to you. Believe it or not!
May 29th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
Isabel
You are delisiously hillariously crazy and very smart, I for one am crazy about you.
But I agree you should be careful, the Obama remark was not a very wise one.
I know you did not mean a word you said, but please be careful.
May 29th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
EJ:
Thanks for the warning.
If you go back to all my comments you can piece together the story of my life, which I have touched on as it relates to various stories du jur. The only thing that would shock me would be if something good ever happened.
May 31st, 2008 at 5:21 pm
EJ,
Thank God for you!!!
That is, of course if God exists?
Isn’t it nice to believe that ‘He’ does?
I think ‘It’s’ even…nice, to think of a “Mother.”
And it’s even better to believe in babies…Like maybe Jesus Christ.
You know between you, and Isabel, and me…maybe we post the mostest, LOL.
Best wishes to you and as always, Love…
Freida

The reasoning behind what I have said about myself is not to garner sympathy. I do not want ANY. It is merely to shake people’s brains loose so they can realize that life is hard, unfair and painful for everyone. Those who think their suffering is due to the color of their skin need to just cut it out and quit being self-centered.
June 14th, 2008 at 5:10 am
Isabel,
A lot of suffering has been due to the color of skin, can’t you ’see’ that?
Most of that is in the past, hopefully, but EJ knows as well as I do, ‘it’ still exists.
Life is hard, unfair and painful mostly for those that are starving to death and have no AC in the summer and no heat in the winter…and too, many of them are little children. And out of those ‘little children’ that survive, beget more hungry little children, that beget more…
Reminds me of Genesis (sp?), and I’m no Bible preacher, but I do remember reading that chapter and I couldn’t keep track…but I kept reading.
June 19th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Freida:
About your June 14th comment, Ok if you say so. I will stick to my belief that my accent is what makes people think I am brainless. Years and years ago when I heard someone say something about “broken English” when referring to me, it tore my heart.
