Does Small Town USA Hate Obama?
Barack’s Take On Why Small Town Pa. May Be Anti-Obama
From Bald Truth Staff (c) www.artharris.com. all rights reserved
Maybe they’re just not into him? And some rejection doesn’t mean what he thinks, or does it?
Listen to the speech that some pundits rail could derail Barack Obama and provoke small town white backlash when the candidate needs it most to maintain his lead over Hillary.
Is it a turnoff?
Or is he just trying to analyze why some have been beaten down so long and become so numbed and cynical to politics, they wont go for him…As he guesses, maybe it’s not in their world experience to cotton to some black guy named Barack pitching hope.
Let us know what you think: are you offended? Does it make sense. Was he dissing small town USA for not getting him?
April 12th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
As eager as I am to throw in my two cents, I cannot stomach hearing any more than I accidentally hear on TV when Obama speaks. Somehow, when I look at him, what I see is that guy in the mountains of Afghanistan in his flowing robe and spewing threats against the US. I think even their name rhymes.
April 12th, 2008 at 11:35 pm
My take on this is that no matter what, some people aren’t going to vote for him because he’s black, which is sad on their part. I wouldn’t apologize if I were him, because he actually spoke the truth if people would really admit it. Hillary Clinton is despicable. I tell people if they want Bill Clinton to have a third term, vote for Hillary. I have nothing against Hillary if she can win the nomination fairly, but if she steals it, John McCain will be the next president and that’s a fact.

My opinion Folks,I think Barack Obama is the best con artist going.he believes his own spin,yOU CANNOT HAVE A PASTOR FOR 20 YEARS,have him be Godparent to your children and not believe in what the pastor is preaching,we here in mass, well we have his friend patrick duval,,trust me,he will never get term 2 for governer, from the day duval took office,he gave himself a 5 day party at taxpayers expense,he got a expensive car ,until the people complained so he had to pay for the car use, gave his wife a goverment job, backs a bill for gambleing, and takes off to NY to promote his book.when they were voting..we need factory workers to fill our empty factories,OBAMA,is selling everyone a bill of goods,SAY ANYTHING BUT GET IN,
April 13th, 2008 at 9:43 am
He isn’t bashing small town people. If you listen he bashes white people
He and his wife are racist. Their minister is racist. Her thesis was racist.
I think it is great white folks are forgiving his comments and are on the Obama band wagon. He is laughing all the way to the White House.
Idiots.
April 13th, 2008 at 10:50 am
The 2 reasons I will not vote for him.
1)Like Jimmy Carter he will not have the Wash contections to get anything done.
2) He has gotten ALOT of money and he make a big issue that he has not received money from Wash special interest. That may be true but I think he’s playing a word game.
April 13th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
I do not think white people have a problem voting for Obama. I live in Idaho,IMO it is 97% white state.
When Obama came to time it was the event of a life time and he won overwhelmingly in Idaho. And most of Idaho is as SMALL TOWN AS IT GETS!
Obama should accept that people have various reasons why do not vote for a specific candidate. He should not see the fact that there are some who choose not to vote for him as a race thing. I mean really! Does he think everybody has to vote for him, and those who do not must give a reason?
I am glad there are people who see through Obama. I too think he is a con artist. And well, I am black, for what it is worth. I mention my race because Obama bring in the race element as and when he feels appropriate.
I think Agmidinijad (whatever his name is) will get his opportunity to lay that wreath at Ground Zero should Obama be president, believe me.
His loyalties to Iran and his openness to the tyrans of the world makes me wonder if he really considers the American people OR whether he wants to force us to see thinks the way he and his click sees them.
The tyrans of the world are seen by their own countries and the world as tyrans, for a very good reason. Now Obama wants to tell us everybody is wrong, and he has the solution.
Birds of a feather flock together, I do not want the kind of solution that I know Obama’s friends and Pastor is offering. Obama has the same believes as his friends, he just won’t tell us now. And if later we find out and object, well he will just label as small townish or whatever he will come up with at that time.
BTW, since he so boldly accusse us of sticking to our “guns and religion”, will he be so bold to accuse radical Islam that was behind 9/11 of the same thing?
He won’t, it will be politically incorrect, but oh well it is ok to diss the “guns and religion” of Americans.
April 13th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
should read “when Obama came to town”
April 13th, 2008 at 5:36 pm
Art I don’t think small town America hates Obama. That’s a bit unfair to assume that. I think they have seen his arrogance and airs of superiority and they also see that anyone who belongs to a church that has a “minister” who spews the hate Wright does, thinks that maybe he isn’t such a good choice for our president.
There is no way in hell that Obama doesn’t know exactly what his “church” and his “minister” stands for. All the congregation stands for it also or they wouldn’t be going there all these years. Obama’s grandfather and stepfather were Muslims and his mother is an athiest. What kind of background is that for a child? One that we want running the USA?
Of all the churches Obama could have joined, he chose that one and has stayed with it. Hmmmmmmm
Obama has been on cocaine and who’s to say he’s really kicked the habit. If he made such a poor choice as to be taking cocaine, then how do we know he is any better at making the right choices now?
He is arrogant and is a liar to say the least. I do think that if he makes the nomination, the GOP will be ready to delve into the things this guy has been doing.
EJ: I would be happy if Bill Clinton could be president again. We never had it so good as when he was president. But I don’t think for a minute he would be running Hillary’s presidency if she should win. She is capable of doing that herself. Despicable is a pretty strong word.
I think it’s unfair to say some people wouldn’t vote for him because he’s black. It would be just as unfair to say a black wouldn’t vote for a white just because he’s white. Is that why you voted for him?
No he won’t apologize because he’s not that kind of guy. He says he doesn’t take money from lobbyists. That is a lie. He’s been taking money from people in the oil companies. Alot of money.
April 13th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Barack Obama finaly show is true colors, He finaly tell us what kind of racist he and michelle are. Good luck to those people who are so dedicated to him. As others say he is the biggest con artist ever.
April 13th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Obabma is too libral on immigration, as is Mccain. This time I’m voting for Ralph Nader. I believe he is running on the Reformed Party ticket. And I’m a registered member of the Reformed Party. No more 2-party only system for me.
April 13th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
EJ:
You think that people will not vote for Obama because he is black? Be serious! If Powell or anyone else of that caliber were running, he would have no problem because he is honest, decent, and his closet is not full of skeletons. You would never hear C. Powell’s wife making a fool of herself because she happens to be paranoid. The only reason Mrs. Obama is paranoid is because she/they are enthrenched with the underground, hateful pastors and other unsavory characters.
April 13th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
I always say, stick with your gut feeling about a candidate all of them lie, you just have to pick the best liar, that you can stand.
I would vote for Hillary hands down because she has the experiance from being in Washington, she is tough if you do not like her vote for the republican guy. Both would be a better choice than Owannabethepresident Obama…!!!
I would not even vote for obama for even class president, he is not consistant, he copies peoples platforms an will say whatever he feels the crowd, (key word) needs to hear to get that vote in. I do not think that Obama is a new hope, I do not feel that is he is the answer to your countries woes, or needs. He is inexperianced and someone should see if he can, or cannot manage his own wallet before he manages yours. Did Obama ever max out his credit cards, etc etc…than he will max out your countries credit.
Right now China owns a portion of your debt, you all should watch the movie on you tube called “END GAME blueprint for a global economy.” very interesting video.
You are going to need a tough leader to correct the financial crisis at hand, someone with a great business mind, someone who understands the financials, and someone who understands what a health of what a nation needs.
It is needs versus wants, all of you have to be on the same page or a level playing field but none of you are, it is the rich versus the poor it will always be a class struggle.
Every one has their agenda, there is no more teamwork in your country,it is lost, it needs to be fixed again, for you all to feel in power again, from the person who is suffering being homeless to the person who sits on a pile of gold, you need to be a team, to be a strong nation.
You know there is saying if you are rich, but you don’t have your health, there is no money that can buy health for you, ask any wealthy American that has gone through a cancer that can pay for any treatment but it will not work anymore an is waiting to die.
However lets take that one step closer, if you do not invest in your health, with early screenings or what I call preventative medicine, to give you more of what you will eventually need or a future leader who is promising to fix this health crisis, than your productivity as a nation will fail.
Healthy people are productive, and that makes for healthy nation, with an even healthier economy. your health costs are not healthy nor are your people financially or otherwise but you can be if you make the right choice together as a nation.
Take a look at Japan, Canada Great Britain ,France etc all of these nations have a health plan.
You are the greatest recently forgotton nation, in the free world, when you vote, what are or whom are your voting for?
Of course a better life is choice, or is it? Is all up to you all.
However I am just a lowly Canadian, who like a mother wants the best for her children south of the border because when they prosper so do we all.
God bless may the force be with you on that vote day, may you all use strong judgement, when you cast that vote, to make a change’ that will make your country strong again.
We are all watching and hope for an emotionally intelligent decision, not one with a new hope!
April 13th, 2008 at 11:45 pm
Did anyone watch the ‘Compassionate Debate’ on CNN tonight?
Why does it seem like Hillary and Obama get all the ‘air’ time?
April 14th, 2008 at 3:24 am
PS to EJ:
Re my comment at 10:11 p.m. on 4/13, I think race is used as an excuse when everything else fails.
April 14th, 2008 at 9:39 am
Will the real racists stand up?
April 14th, 2008 at 1:38 pm
I am not interested in a Presidnent who is reticent to say the pledge of alligence, or a First Lady who has “never in her life been proud of the United States”.
I have zero respect for parents that would allow their young children to listen to hate fill sermons in church as the Obama’s did.
Further, Obama’s mentor is a Columbia University professor who is a card carrying member of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and he has another friend who is a London based financier of terrorists. I dread middle east politics, and wish we could disengage ourselves, but I sure don’t want someone with those sensibilities running this country.
That whole “bitter” speach left me shaking my head. But hearing what Obama really thinks is a good thing. It will enable those who are dazzeled by his speaking skills to see past the hype. His campaign of hope is laughable. I think he is HOPING we remain blind to him until after the election.
We have real problems in this country, enough to choke a horse, we sure don’t need a hater like Obama. Beverly, #3 I agree with you. If he disagreed with his pastor he would be out of that church.
April 14th, 2008 at 2:28 pm
I happen to resent Obama saying that small town America turns to their guns and religon.
It seems that he resents alot about America. I know when he joined that “church”, he had to pledge his alliegance to Africa and to put blacks first. Maybe that is why he won’t put his hand over his heart when they play our national anthem? He has also sympathized with Palestine. Hmmmm. Is Obama an American at heart? It sure makes you wonder, doesn’t it.
I, personally, abhor guns. I detest what they are made for, and that is to kill. And don’t anyone give me that crap about guns don’t, kill, people do, and if they outlaw guns, then only the outlaws will have them. That is nothing but an excuse for the people who love guns and love to use them, for what they are made for, and that is for killing. That is my opinion and one that will never change.
I abhor hunting also. I love animals and hate to see people shooting them for any reason, especially for “sport”. This is a sport?
And as far as religon, what is wrong with turning to that? Maybe Obama should consider a real religon, then maybe he would learn about love, instead of hate, especially when he is seeking votes from the very people he is putting down. That’s not really very smart. And he thinks he can run this country? I want to know what he is really planning.
By the way, has anyone read his wife’s college thesis? I read some of it, even though they had tried very hard to have it supressed to the public until after the general election.
It would seem to me that they indeed chose the right church for what they believe in.
April 14th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Racist? lol How can someone with a white mother and white grandparents raised by white people, be racist against white. You have bought into the lie being played out in the media. Faux News and CNN (Clinton News Network) started this when he won those 12 races in a row. He was not a threat when he was 30 points behind Hil-LIAR-y. Now that she is not the “inevitable winner” she will do and say anything. Well guess what, people are bitter and frustrated. They are losing their homes, jobs and money. Isn’t it amazing that someone who has made over 109 MILLION in 7 years can call someone who just paid off their student loan ELITIST? John (father time) McCain owns 8 homes and he calls Obama out of touch, this is rich. Even the media is beginning to see the relationship of the Clintons to McCain and the same talking points they use on Obama. As for his EX-pastor, look at the group Hillary belongs to (THE FAMILY). This group wants to do away with so man of our rights. They are secretive and you must be invited to join their family. Well continue to drink the Clinton kool-aid and while she is dodging SNIPER-FIRE, Bill will be in Columbia making deals to earn another 800,000 while the jobs go out of the country.
April 14th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
My reasoning is anybody but another Clinton in the whitehouse to have the world laughing atthe us because of the scandals she will bring.Look into why they hired Pellicano to go after Ms flowers and other women that mr Clinton had affairs with.Yes that is private matters but it becomes public when they hire someone like Pellicano to go after someone and lie under oath etc. Also look into the Peter Paul trial.Makes me wonder why neither of these are in the national news like the comments Senator Obama made,I would hope that people see the truth in what he said.If you talk to people in the outer parts of pa. you will find people are bitter for whatever reason .IMO he told it like it is and in the end people will respect him for it.
April 14th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Oh, that’s right they are paying for it.
Just answering my own question.
April 14th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Shakeena Griffith:
Don’t fool yourself. Everyone knows what is going on — at least on this site. If he laughs all the way to the White House, may he trip on his ears.
April 14th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
EJ,
I’m still sitting down.
Joni,
You’re right, guns kill.
Flander Annapolis,
Your name reminds me of that poem by I think it was McCrae.
By the way, are you a writer for TMZ. If you are, that sure must be a lot of fun.
Your comment was depressing, so it’s probably the sad truth.
NOTE:
The Who also sang a song about those poppies.
ANSWER TO QUESTION:
“Does Small Town USA Hate Obama?”
I don’t think so, in fact I think they love him.
They don’t know that most politicians are rich, and really can’t relate to their suffering, or for that matter, “Feel Your Pain.”
April 14th, 2008 at 5:46 pm
hmm:
Were you humming yourself to sleep?
People are bitter because of their own life’s problems, not because the government did not wipe their nose.
The last thing the Obamas have earned is respect.
April 14th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
Flander # 17
No responsible parent would expose their children to hate speech, let alone allow this person to be their parents God Parent.
Obama’s attempt to spin “bitter” matter is pathetic. He is a bigot and just because he is multiracial does not mean he is not a racist. Over time his words have served to expose him. If you give a person enough talking time their true self will be exposed and that is what is occuring with Obama.
What is the point he is making? Relegion except his and his pastors version is wrong and the result of discontent? Patriotism is wrong? Being proud of the USA is wrong? Teaching your children love of country is wrong?
If it weren’t for affirmative action were would they be? Lots of people have student loans. Does he deserve a medal because he took one out? Did he pay for his student loan the same way he bought his house, through an insider deal that gave him a house that he couldn’t afford?
The Obama’s need to have a bit more respect for a country that has served THEM better than they have served it IMO.
April 14th, 2008 at 6:09 pm
Joy: Excellent post!!
April 14th, 2008 at 6:17 pm
Hmmm
My problem is why he “told it like it is” about small towns behind their backs, when he was meeting with his rich friends.
I can take straight talk to my face, not behind my back. He actually gossiped about small towners and thought it was a closed meeting, if I read correctly.
Like here he told USA he was against NAFTA and told Canada a different thing.
He has not been in Washington long, but he did catch up VERY FAST!
April 14th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
When I first saw and heard of Obama, I felt totally neutral. I didn’t know anything about him, but as I watched him, the more disturbed I became, so I started to really listen to him and find out all I could about him, then I became even more disturbed.
He has no one to blame but himself, for the way some of us see him. He and he alone is responsible for that.
Just the same way some of us feel about Larry Birkhead. We feel that way because of the things he has done and said. I had never heard of him before either, but the more I saw and heard of him, the more I didn’t like him.
I used the word despicable to describe the likes of Virgie, Oquinn, Ben Thompson, Ford Shelley and alot of other people in that mess as well as some of the TV hosts, but I have never called any of the candidates that and wouldn’t.
I watched Hillary and Obama last night and he skirted around almost every question that was asked of him. He also seems to have trouble saying things, getting words out. I think he is pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes. He seems to stand for everyone but the Americans.
April 15th, 2008 at 12:03 am
Art, I just reread your article and questions about Obama. I think peope are just beginning to “get” Obama and he doesn’t like the results, but has no one to blame but himself.
I live in small town PA and I do resent just about everything this guy has been doing and saying and I can honestly say it has NOTHING to do with his race. He has done rural America and PA in particular a serious disservice, by his interpretation of why we aren’t for him. He needs to look deep within himself to see what we are seeing.
He signed his own death warrant in PA and can blame himself, not anyone else. When something doesn’t go his way, he has to put the blame on something or someone else, but he’s the one at fault most of the time. We do get him, but he’s too full of himself to get it.
Most churches in this country would consider his church and “pastor” Wright a cult. The word of God is not hate, but love, for all races. Pastor Wright preaches hate and racisim and that is NOT the word of God, that is the word of satan, plain and simple.
April 15th, 2008 at 2:17 am
Become a registered member of the Reform Party, and then vote for Ralph Nader, like I am going to do. It’s the best thing the citizens of this country will ever do for America!
April 15th, 2008 at 5:04 am
Has anyone noticed, that IMUS and DOG,lost there jobs, and had to say I am sorry so much,I was getting sick.because they were called racist,I have not,and I am sure will not here I AM SORRY from OBAMA pastor, for making racist remarks and anti American remarks.what is going on is reverse discrimation.I do not think OBAMA has the knowledge and the where for all to handle the highest, office in the US,and I also think we will end up in a race war.
April 15th, 2008 at 5:16 am
Who’s still in the running to be President of the United States of America and Why?
Gosh seems for all we know, there’s only 2 and they are you know…Hillary and Obama…
LOL
April 15th, 2008 at 10:38 am
Vistany, I see that you too have been reading those emails circulated to defame Obama. There are ones that say he is Muslim (he isn’t), ones that say he doesn’t say the pledge of alligence (he leads it in Washington, it is on youtube), ones that say he doesn’t use the Bible (not true, shown from clip in Washington) and so many more. I remember when they use to lie on John Kennedy too. Back then they didn’t have the internet, so the lie took longer to spread. Well If Hillary can dodge sniperfire long enough she can flip-flop on NAFTA, CAFTA, COLUMBIA, GUN CONTROL, AND ALL HER LIES SHE HAS BEEN CAUGHT IN.
April 15th, 2008 at 11:18 am
I stand by my words. Talk is cheap. If Colin Powell was running, it would be the same old thing. Face it people, racism is real! I know all people don’t think that way, but it is real and that’s a fact. I think I know it better than some of you. This is not something that I feel comfortable in discussing and I will refrain from doing so in the future.
April 15th, 2008 at 11:22 am
Flander Annapolis, I feel you. You’re spot on! People can deny all they want to, but reality is still there.
April 15th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
I am a “TYPICAL WHITE WOMAN’ and that’s how I’m going to vote.
April 15th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
I am a white retired 66 year old female and I have listened to the candidates every time they speak on tv. Unless I change my mind - I am voting for Obama.
We need change - change - change - change in Washington DC
Skooly
April 15th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Joni, Isabel and whomever else called me out, you guys are naive if you think race is not playing into this. Get real!
Hell, people are bitter so why deny that? I’m bitter about somethings and I don’t have to worry about money as others do. You really don’t know anything about Barack or his pastor. You’re listening to the gossip in the media. Joni, I can’t believe you are assuming who I voted for. It’s almost laughable. Evidently you think I voted for him because he’s black. Get that outta here. That’s ludicrous! I don’t understand what’s so grand about Hillary or Bill. Hell, she was in the house when Monica was tooting his horn. So really, no man is perfect. This is a new day. It’s not the 1990’s. Circumstances are different and things are somewhat different. Think whatever you guys want, but words can sometimes tell what a person is about. I love all people regardless of race, religion, etc. I think that’s much more than some people can say truthfully. This is my lasts post on this subject.
April 16th, 2008 at 12:10 am
Listening to NPR earlier this evening, I heard that Indonesians are rooting for Obama. Someone said it would be good for the US because since the US has been so against the Muslins, what better person than Obama to change it around. WOW!
April 16th, 2008 at 10:29 am
( I AM BITTER) AND IF ANY OF THE SMALL MINDED PEOPLE THAT HAVE LEFT REMARKS THEY WOULD BE TO AND IF THEY WERE RELIGIOUS PEOPLE THEY WOULD IN TIMES OF TROUBLE TURN TO THEIR CHURCH I AM A BAPTIST AND IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIGHT
April 17th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
EJ, all my life I have sympathized with the minorities. So don’t ever, ever, call me a racist.
I can’t ever support anyone who belongs to a church whose minister shouts forth the hate and absolutely crazy things that Wright does. No one should. “Pastor” Wright hates whites and doesn’t pull any bones about it. Obama sits there and nods his head in agreement and this has been witnessed.
You should do some research on Obama. I did and am very disturbed at what I’ve been seeing and I’m talking about ligitimate sites. All of America should be disturbed. Blacks as well as whites. Why aren’t you EJ?
You laugh all you want, that doesn’t bother me a bit, lol. I think some people need to look at themselves a bit deeper.
April 17th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
EJ,If colin Powell was running,I would be the first to vote for him,he has the knowledge and experence, and I just plain like the man.
April 17th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
Yes EJ, sometimes words can tell about a person.
April 17th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
There are bitter people in every part of the world.
People usually TURN AWAY from their religion when they become bitter.
People have been religious since the beginning of time in the good and the bad time, nothing to do with government really. More to do with realising you have a spiritual side.
That remark was not necessary, it was just plain down talk that he and his rich buddies usually do behind close doors. He could have made the point without adding the insult.
Now they want to say regular Americans just don’t get it. Well I think regular Americans are too smart too be fooled by Obama.
Politicians are just using all of us for their own gain, so I am through with this.
BTW, I am waiting for Danzyl Washington to run for president.
I am sure there are some excellent candidates out there in our black community, they just have not run for president yet.
So let’s not fall for the first smooth talking charmer that come along as if he is our only chance.
THe same about Hillary, many competent woman out there, no need for us to rush into decisions.
April 17th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
EJ
I agree with you and I respect your opinion a lot, having blogged with you on Art’s for more than a year.
Racism is real in America. I experience it everyday to some extend.
But I must admit I am also guilty of it many times and it takes self dissiplince to fight it. It works both ways.
I believe racism is a human condition. It is a sin and no human being is immune to it.
So to me it really is double standars for any one race to blame another for racism, we are all guilty of it. As individuals we need to change the attitude of our hearts, then it will flow out to the rest of the world.
I believe America has sufficient laws in place to fight racism, so the rest is really up to us how we conduct ourselves.
But I seriously do not think Obama has the balanced mindset to address race issues. IMO he seems to care more about others than about America. The people he surrounds himself with DO matter. They will be his advisors, directly or indirectly. And to me most of them do not seem to have a healthy balanced view of issues that America deal with, both domestically and foreign.
I also intend not to blog about this anymore, the right person will win if we sincerely pray that God choose our next president.
And even if we would not agree withthe outcome, even if it is Obama, I know that God knows best and will accept and respect him as my president.
April 17th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
Joni
England outlaw guns, now they want to outlaw knifes people carry. Outlawing guns did not decrease their murder rate like they thought. It is the culture that they live in. The Swiss have a very low murder rate and every man is required to own a gun by law.
I was on vk to Cancun and one of the English guys told me it is so crazy there that if someone breaks into your house unless you feel in danger for your life the homeowner can not phyically harm the criminal.
Another English guy said even with national healthcare he would have to wait two yrs for surgery to his shoulder but because his wife had private insurance he got his surgery in two wks.
April 17th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
Almost everyone in my family is in law enforcement. They don’t want to lose the right to carry, but they want the laws punishing those who break the laws to be enforced.
April 17th, 2008 at 1:47 pm
I have one more thing to say, EJ. I know how you detest Bush. I also detest him. But you know, it never occurred to me that you are racist and that is why you don’t like him. And I DON’T think that. It also never occurred to me to think you may be racist when you said all the things you said about everyone (all white) in the Anna Nicole saga. Never! I feel the same way about all of them that you do.
So now we have Obama running for president of a country that his own pastor seems to despise, including white America. You don’t see anything wrong with that picture? He (Wright) blames this country for infecting blacks with HIV. You don’t see anything wrong with that? Wright supports Palentine and Obama is a sympathizer of Palentine. He said this himself, several times.
There is so much more that this “church” is involved in in the Middle East and with terrorists. Every American should be afraid of what is going on within this “church” and Obama’s involvement. When Obama announced his candidacy, Wright was to speak, then at the last minute, Obama’s assistant told him not to because of the sermons he’d been giving. Obama thought that wouldn’t look very good for him. He has called Wright his “mentor” and “like an uncle”.
EJ, we DO understand what Wright, his church and his followers are about. It appears that you don’t or just decided to turn a blind eye to it all. It’s all out there for everyone to see.
As far as small towns hating Obama, I don’t think they do. I think it’s the other way around.
I don’t hate Obama (nor do I think he is “despicable” as you feel about Hillary) and I really resent you thinking that I’m against him because of the color of his skin. That could not be further from the truth. Just as I don’t think you hate any white person because they are white. I think it is extremely unfair for you to think that we don’t like Obama because of his “color”.
Check out this Wright and all that he stands for and then tell us that we don’t know anything about him or his church. It appears that you don’t know anything about it or maybe don’t want to know.
I am through with this subject, because it doesn’t do any good to just go back and forth about the same things.
Art, I think it would be a good idea for you to put out here all the things that Pastor Wright is about and the fact that Obama is still involved with it all.
Oprah Winfrey used to belong to this same church and dropped out of it in the 90’s because of the radial preaching and the people Wright has been involved with.
This is really serious stuff and all Americans should be very concerned with it.
April 17th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
I really don’t beleive that the change Obama has been talking about is what is best for this country. As for the people who says that Afro-Americans have been kept down, maybe they should have done what my 3 out of 4 grandparents did when they came to this country.Work.
April 17th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
EJ and scooly you took the words right out of my mouth.Like I said anyone but another Clinton in the whitehouse. No Isabel I am not humming myself to sleep.Did you look up the names I gave? IMO it was the media that made it seems like it was behind everyones back I think Senator Obama would have known omething like that would get out.I don’t think their personal problems make them bitter it is that their representives, senators and presidents say one thing and do another. It is not just one person it is a whole bunch of them.Threats being made to support Senator Clinton if you are a female superdelagate or lose the womens vote in your next election
April 17th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
Yikes, lol I forgot to put the S in Palestine, lol.
Also while I’m at it, EJ. We are not listening to all the hype in the media about Wright. We saw with our own eyes and heard with our own ears the things he said. Did you NOT also see and hear this?
Also this “church” made theses tapes of his sermon and was selling it. That’s how the media got hold of one.
Now, why would they be selling tapes of hate? Hmmmmm I doubt very much it was to make money. All the churches that I know of have dinners, rummage sales and bazzars, etc, to make money. They don’t sell hate tapes. They also don’t give hate sermons. NEVER! Also this “church” gave Louis Farrankhan (sp?) some kind of an award. These are the kind of people that Wright and his “church” associates with. They are against Israel. They want to get rid of Israel for the Palestinians.
By all means, EJ, check out all of this. This is all documented, it’s not spin. Open up your eyes and mind a bit and maybe you’ll see things as they really are.
And would I feel the same about Obama if he was white? You bet I would. His color isn’t the issue here EJ and it’s totally unfair of you to suggest it is. Maybe it’s an issue with you?
April 17th, 2008 at 7:25 pm
Obama is a fraud. Eww Yuk. Racism has nothing to do with it. People who think it does are misguided IMO.

Beverly:
I find your thinking cap is always on target.
I have probably divulged more about myself than anybody else in this Harris Camp, so here is one more thing. As I had said in an earlier post, I came from an area where whites consisted of 1% (one percent) of the population; therefore, different shades are normal and familiar to me. Approximately ten years ago I was working as a temporary and an assignment took me to a small firm consisting of fewer than 12 people. After three months, I offered a full-time job there and I was thrilled, thinking that it was great they were nice to me. Apparently, it did not sit well with the rest of the ladies in the office who immediately became unfriendly and unhappy. It was obvious the hiring partner make the big mistake of not consulting others in the office before injecting a white person in their midst. I thanked the hiring person and told him I would not stay because the sudden chill had frosted me to the bones.
So, Beverly, reverse discrimination is indeed practiced and accepted with open arms.

Sorry I did not proofread my comments carefully.

I have spoken my piece. I shall now retire to the wright side of the house where I am building a shrine dedicated to Obama.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:37 am
WOW! A bigger bunch of racist bigots I have never seen! I expected better from a site like this! Maybe it’s because most of you are still young and stupid! Life hasn’t kicked you in the behind yet! I’m 60 years old, and have seen every administration since Eisenhower, and NEVER, EVER have I see this country so hopeless, so cynical, and yes, BITTER! Bitter because they’re are losing their homes, jobs, and life savings in record numbers, and the government that was SUPPOSED to have their back fiddled while Rome burned. THAT’S why so mny people don’t even bother to vote! For the first time since Bobby Kennedy, there’s a candidate worth campaigning for. Someone whose not just more of the same. I was leaning towards Hillary until she started getting ugly, and trashing! It’s not like she is leading by a mile, and IF she gets the nomination, she’ll need Obamas supporters to win! As far as Muslims rooting for Obama, not every Muslim is a terrorist, and we’re going to need the help of those who aren’t, so it benefits US to have a leader who know a Sunni from a Shiia, a Persian from an Arab.
Another news flash for you children out there. No matter WHAT certain politicians say, we are NOT the greatest nation on earth, at least not anymore! I remember when it WAS and today can’t even compare! Learn to read little children, and stop getting your info from trashy places like youtube, where anyone can put up anything, and learn to look for the truth yourselves!
April 18th, 2008 at 1:08 am
Oh, Joni, you place your hand over your heart for “THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE” NOT the national anthem! I’m Italian American, but I marched during the civil rights movement and got beaten up by red-neck cops in South Carolina! Rev Wright was commenting on social issues. Maybe if you and those like you took some history courses, you’d learn about the Tuskgee experiment, where Black men were infected with syphalsis and NOT treated just to see what would happen, so a claim of how HIV/AIDS came to be is NOT all that outragious. You’d leard how this country has a long history of butting into other countries internal affairs, with the CIA orchestrating coups to overthrow popular leaders who wouldn’t jump when we told them to and the resentment and mistrust that interference caused that registers even today!
When this country defeated the Germans, they marched the villagers through the consentration camps FORCING them to face what they’d allowed to happen, while the KKK was running rampant through the south, blind eyes were turned towards the lynching of Blacks, they were denied education, their right to vote, couldn’t even use the same BATHROOM as a white person. It’s a crime in Germany to deny the holocaust, but far too many whites in this country want to deny over 400 years of history! I say God Damn America for that alone
April 18th, 2008 at 11:59 am
EJ
Just want to clear up something quickly. Only the first part of my post is directed to you, namely, that I agree that racism is real.
The rest is just my thoughts on racism and was not really directed at anyone in particular.
Only those who have never been a victim of racial prejudice will deny that it exist. As you said we do not want to go into details here, but we know it is still very real.
Perhaps highlevel intervention is needed in some instances, and then there is the personal responsibility that we all have to guard against racial attitudes in our own hearts.
May God bless us all and make us all aware of this particular sin and deliver us from it.
And with this I am outta here!
April 18th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Hello Freida, I feel you.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
How does anyone here assume that voting for Obama is a vote for “Hope” or change in D.C.? Him and his wife are racists with chips on their shoulders. None of the candidates, for that matter, will be effective!
There is no hope or change until we get rid of the entrenched congresspeople and senators who feel entitled to their chairs until retirement can we really enact change in this country. All the wasteful attachments to bills passing through the halls of the Capitol have been bankrupting this country dollar by dollar because of the special paybacks our elected officials are building into necessary bills, like annual budgets.
And what has been going on the last two years in the Capitol since the Democrats have taken over both houses? Change like they promised? NO! Nothing but special hearings and wastes of time and money. None of the Country’s real business is getting done because it’s more important to find out if professional baseball players are juicing!
No matter who is elected in November, the POTUS has tied hands when it comes to running the country because he or she is nothing but a figure head. The real threat and harm comes from inside the chambers of that white domed building with all those elected people being courted by lobbyists and with large donations to their campaign coffers to think about. They are the ones taking away your civil liberties and hard earned paycheck and giving it away like monopoly money to all the deadbeats who don’t want to work or pay for their own health insurance because it cuts into their cigarette and beer fund!
Spend more time looking at the candidates for the senate and house. Don’t just assume that an incumbent is doing a swell job and should stay in because they definitely are not!
April 18th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Nikki:
So sorry you are bitter. As a small-minded person, it is with pleasure that I announce I believe in Santa Claus.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Also, Nikki, when you say “to” meaning the word “also”, it is spelled with two oo’s. Let’s fly to the moon to purchase two (”2″) baby moons and a shinning star, too (”also”).
I do not pretend to be a linguist. Some tiny little words deserve the respect of being spelled correctly.
April 19th, 2008 at 2:03 am
I don’t understand why my post that maybe if more people would work like my 3 out of 4 grandparents had to do when they came to America in the late 1880’s instead of crying about how everyone had done them wrong, less people would be on welfare. Obama is never going to be able to support you all and send your children to school for nothing, like so many of his supporters think he will do
April 19th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
http://www.dickmorris.com/blog/2008/04/18/hillarys-terrorist-ties/#more-323
Quote from this article.
Clearly Barack Obama should not have stayed in Rev Wright’s church and his campaign should not maintain a “friendly” relationship with William Ayers. But what about Hillary’s service on a board that gave money to a terrorist organization? And her hosting of a terror supporting group in the White House? And her acceptance of a $50,000 contribution from that group? And the statements of terrorists that they are hoping for her to win.
These are far more serious connections than have been established for Obama and either Wright or Ayers.
[Take a few seconds to read the whole article] Please
April 20th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
I actually though Obama is only about six percent black, fifty percent white and forty four percent Arab. Certainly, his hair has arab testure.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:34 pm
Well, I wasn’t going to say anything else on this matter, and it looks like our comments aren’t going to be released anyway, but, for what it’s worth, here goes.
No one on here that I saw ever said or denied that racism doesn’t exist. It certainly does. But, it also exists with all races, not just the white race, EJ. Look at Obama, his wife, their pastor and the rest of the congregation in their church. They are also anti-American! Obama refuses to hold his hand over his heart when the national anthem is being played (I saw the video). Why? Maybe it’s because he had to make a pledge to put Africa and the black race first and foremost when he joined that “church”. And he is running for president of this country?
I can’t believe you would think just because we don’t like Obama and what he stands for, that we are racist. That would be like saying you are a racist because you don’t like some white people.
EJ, you are really not being fair or even being sensible here.
April 21st, 2008 at 6:51 pm
I think there might be some kind of a ‘plot’ behind all of that squabbling.
Obama’s not even black, he doesn’t look black, he doesn’t talk black, wonder if he even has rhythm.
Racist remarks, not original.
Of course, Hillary is a woman, she gave birth once upon a time. Yet, of course she ‘might’ be bi-sexual or a lesbian.
Sexist remarks, not original.
Of course, McCain can’t lift his arms (really), but he’s put that all behind him, and has great health care benefits, and quite a salary and ‘public donations,’ goin’ for him.
“Doubting Thomas” remarks, not original.
Who else is running, and who on earth would ever vote for someone they don’t hear about…
No respect remark?
So are the Democrats fighting to get the Old-Republican man in?
Conspiracy remark?
Why vote in big elections? Why not get to know those local representatives?
My hope is a wonderful thing!!!
April 22nd, 2008 at 11:49 am
Thank you Joy. Joni, You can say whatever you want, I’m not going to discuss this on this site or any other anymore. But I will say until you walk a mile in my shoes, don’t tell me they’re comfortable when they’re not. Have a great blessed day.
April 22nd, 2008 at 5:26 pm
the real mish,
You don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. You said afro-americans, NOT! I think you mean African-Americans, should have worked when they came to this country. What the hell do you think they did? That is such a misinformed statement and it blows my mind. I won’t say anymore because it’s obvious you don’t know your history.
April 22nd, 2008 at 5:45 pm
#47, Joni, You are way off base on your statements. When I posted concerning Howard and the people doing all the bs to him, it was totally from my heart. Like I said previously, I don’t hate anyone, I just dislike some of the things people do. There is a difference in disliking deeds and disliking people. You don’t and I really don’t expect you to understand where I’m coming from on this. How could you? Whatever happens with the presidency, it will be. As far as Barack is concerned as with the rest of us, whatever God has for us is for us and nobody can take it away. So, I will wait on him to reveal to us the outcome of this.
April 22nd, 2008 at 5:54 pm
Jangie
You have no idea what me and my people lived through in apartheid South Africa. And I talk about as recent as 1990.
If it comes down to comparing the hell we went through under racism, with no disrespect, I wonder if you and Rev Wright and many of his church even have a clue. Especially when you look at the nice lives they have been living.
There are those who are using the excuse of racism to furhter their political agendas PERIOD. Wright and Obama and the rest of their click is all about that. They constantly remind people of the bad, a new day came LONG AGO, they chose to miss it, because it is beneficial to them if people remain bitter.
Obama should first seek change from the hate and bitterness in his own heart, his family, his church, his friends before he even try to teach America about change.
Obama should take a year off and go live and learn from a great leader like Mandela who actually sacrificed and struggled and came out of it all without a trace of bitterness.
There are those in SA who are also using the bad of the past for political gain and keep reminding people of the suffering, ignoring the healing that Forgivness and Reconciliation can bring.
I am not convinced about Obama’s motives and it has absolutely nothing to do with his race, I mean really.
April 22nd, 2008 at 6:46 pm
Hmmm, you have your facts wrong.
It was a fundraising at someone’s house. The remarks were leaked and Obama’s camp is still furious about the fact that it was leaked.
For those who say we who do not agree with Obama have fallen for the media hype: Just because that is how you arrive at your opinions does not mean that is how everybody arrive at theirs.
I have been watching Obama since before he started running for president, and I carefully listened to his remarks and checked how he voted on issues. Because I was also excited about the prospect of the first black president.
As with the Anna Nicole Saga, I came to my conclusions based on what the main characters were saying and as always was and still is very sceptical about anything the media says. I am not one to follow the crowd.
Every opinion I have on Obama is based on what I have heard from his own mouth and have seen from issues he voted on.
People should just accept the fact that NOT EVERYBODY has to vote for Obama and no-one has to explain why.
April 22nd, 2008 at 7:46 pm

April 22nd, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Hi EJ!
April 23rd, 2008 at 12:09 am
Jangie, DUH! I know you place your hand over your heart for the pledge to the flag. Most politicians and alot of other people also do this while the anthem is being sung or played. I watched a video where Obama was lined up with all the other candidates and they all had their hand over their hearts. Obama refused to do the same. He held his hands clasped together with his arms hanging down. To me, this is defiance. No there is no rule you have to hold your hand there, but he could have at least done so to at least make some people think he really is for America.
I have to believe, especially after everything else I’ve seen (not just heard) that he did that for a reason. We just don’t know exactly what the true reason is.
And don’t anyone even say anything about the KKK. They are one of the most despicable groups on earth. I can truthfully say that almost all whites are 100% against the klan as they should be. I don’t believe they or any other hate groups should even be allowed to gather, whether they do so peacefully or not. Some things just should not be tolerated.
April 23rd, 2008 at 12:44 am
Joy, as always, good posts. You are a very fair lady and I am trying to be. I too, as most of us here have, supported Howard because we could see he was a good man and was victimized by so many unscrupulous people.
Also, I watched and listened to Obama and saw videos that made me feel the way I do about him and his “pastor”. I don’t know how anyone can think that this pastor is preaching the word of God. What is coming out of his mouth is from satan. No man of God would ever say the things Wright says. Maybe some of you don’t believe satan exists, but he does and works through people like Wright and also the KKK and other hate groups. I’ve said that before and I’m saying it again. This church is not a loving church of God. No way, no how. In my church, no pastor has ever, ever, said anything bad about any race or put anyone down, nor would they ever, because that would not be the word of God. That would never happen and if it would, that would be the last time I would ever go there.
I resent the fact that some people have such closed minds that they think just because some of us don’t like Obama and all that he and his church stands for, that we are racists. That couldn’t be further from the truth.
I checked out the website of his church and read what they stand for, and if that isn’t racist, then I guess I don’t know what is.
April 23rd, 2008 at 7:41 am
I forgot to mention Hitler, when I was talking about the most satanic and despicable people.

RE” #48 the real mish
I was just thinking that perhaps you need to press the “delete.devil.gone.ah..” button on #48 the real mish.
Her racial characterization is soooo against everything you and your website is about.
Like you did with those anti-Jewish post on the Howard thread.
Just a suggestion.
April 24th, 2008 at 2:24 am
Joy, I am a 60 year old BLACK woman, so there is nothing that YOU can tell ME about living under aparthied! The US government called it “Jim Crow”, segregation, take your pick. And those days were NOT ALL THAT LONG AGO. This country had to be dragged kicking and screaming to pass ANY kind of civil rights legislation. In 1965 it was passed into law, but as late as the 1970’s places like Boston and most of the south were STILL fighting school integration tooth and nail! Rev Wright didn’t always live the way he does today believe me! I’m a disabled Vet. I’ve given for this country, but it’s built on a lie. I currently live in North Carolina. I moved here from Pensacola Florida which is on the Florida Alabama border. Down here people are STILL resentful over their loss of the civil war, still waving confederate flags, still resent any Blacks who try to move up.
SA will heal before THIS country will because SA has faced its past while this government is still trying to run from theirs. It’s insulting when the subject of the Holocaust is brought up as a reason we must protect Israel at all costs because we must “never forget” but when the history of Black struggle country in THIS is brought up we’re told “that’s ancient history let it go”
April 24th, 2008 at 2:54 am
Joni, you have a lot to learn! If, as you say, almost all whites were against the KKK, they would have been gone long ago! The truth IS they’re still here and have joined in alliance with OTHER white supremacy groups and are as dangerous as ever! As for Rev Wright, Obama has said over and over that he doesn’t agree with some of the mans views. What has been played over and over is a sound bite. I’m sure that EVERY sermon that man preached for over twenty years wasn’t fire and brim stone! And there is a lot of truth in what he said. Many Blacks DO believe that HIV/AIDS was invented by the US government to wipe them out. When you take into account bits of history like the Tuskegee experiment where Black men were infected with syphilis and deliberately not treated just to see what would happen, and how this government purposely infected the Native Americans with small pox, the idea doesn’t seem quite so far fetched. What churches like his is trying to do is give a sense of pride to a group of people who have had it stomped out of them.
April 26th, 2008 at 2:02 am
An earlier blog mentioned how young these bloggers must be. I really doubt that there are any youngsters here. It might be safe to assume most of us are “over the hill”
I have a solution to this country’s problems. I can be an adviser to the president and the following eight rules are to be followed:
1. The US is a meddler:
Solution: Since the US is such a “meddler”, it must immediately stop helping any nation in any way, shape or form. It is not right to stick our nose in their business.
2. The US is unfair:
Solution: Anyone who is not happy, must be immediately sent back to wherever they or their ancestors came from. Case closed.
3. The US is playing favorites by not accepting the entire world’s population:
Solution: Anyone who hides in an airplane’s engine to come to this country illegally, will be rewarded promptly by the powerful force of the engine.
4. Patriotism according to a fool:
Solution: Anyone who refuses to place his/her hand over the heart at the appropriate time, will have his right arm severed just like in the “good” countries that know how to control their people.
5. Ambivalence and fanaticism:
Solution: Upon entering this country with the intention of making a living here, one must immediately shed funny attires and wear proper clothing designed to be worn in the 21st Century dressmaker or “suitmaker”.
6. Brainwashings:
Solution: Heads will be covered only under certain circumstances, such as when one has had brain surgery and is recuperating while the shaved head allows itself to heal and grow the hair back.
7. Food intolerance:
Solution: Special diets will not be tolerated unless there is a medical reason. All edible foods are to be consummed in moderation.
8. America is mean and ugly:
Solution: Anyone who has difficulty assimilating, must leave. There will only be one warning. Shape up or ship out. Whatever awaits them in their country of origin, they asked for it. Que sera, sera. Whatever will be, will be.
All problem solved! The US will no longer be overpopulated. The other countries can deal with their own problems. It is an insult to subject them to our wants, needs and desires. Our big US noses will be kept under wraps now and forever.
April 26th, 2008 at 2:28 am
The Pope’s recent trip to the US included all people in his prayers and praised the multi-colored flock. Has anyone pondered over the contrast?
Those who are obsessed over the “mere” “soundbites” of that foot-stomping, uncontrolably twitching body of that hateful, hate-filled, maniacal Revered Wrong, need to take a chill pill and carefully examine themselves.

Jangie
I did not mean to make little of what African-Americans went through. And believe me I understand where you are coming from.
It is just my opinion that the way Wright and Obama are going about the race issue is DIVISIVE and will not solve anything. In the long run, it will create more hate.
So what can I do but sincerely pray for all of America. I have a very soft spot for all Americans (black, white,yellow..), perhaps because I can identify with their issues coming from SA.
I do believe America is a Great Nation. And may God never damn this country, it will be bad for all of us.
God bless America.
See Jangie, I want to stay away, but having grown up in a very political environment I find it difficult. Perhaps this will REALLY be my last post.
April 27th, 2008 at 1:13 am
No,Joy.I am not a racist,I just feel people should work to raise their families, not expect the goverment to do it for them. Fathers and mothers should have to be finanically responsible for their children, just as my forefathers were. I am from a large family that never used the welfare system.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Joy, I agree with you, politics are TOO DIVISIVE. Race always enters and there would be less problems if we were allowed to accept or reject a person (one on one) and not base everything on an entire race - be it black or white.
Joni……. I totally disagree with Jangie that “you have a lot to learn”. I do totally believe that WE COULD LEARN A LOT FROM YOU! I have read your comments about different subjects for almost two years and find you to be an extreamly fair minded person. As I have said before this would be a better world if everyone set standards for themselves such as yours.
April 28th, 2008 at 4:50 am
Gosh, I listened to Rev. Wright tonight and his ’speech’ reminded me of Dr. King.
But you know I just have to say Rev. Wright doesn’t look black to me either.
How many ‘different’ shades are there?
April 28th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
Joy, You’re welcome (to your above post, lol).
Anne, thank you so much for your kind words. They mean very much to me. I have been trying to reason with some of the people here and so has Joy, but they seem to have closed their minds to why we don’t like Obama. THEY have made it a race issue and so has Wright. WE have not. And no amount of telling them otherwise seems to get through to them. They are only picking out certain things said here and twisting them around to suit their own purposes. I have given up on trying to reason with them. It’s people like them that make it bad for both blacks and whites. And I have to say that the Rev. Wright is succeeding in undoing all that has been done to bring the races together over the years. And he’s still at it and I don’t think he’ll stop until he finishes it. He’s taking advantage of every chance he can to divide the two races. I do try to be fair and can see that you and Joy are fair also. I also agree with your post to Joy.
I do resent people that condem some of us just because we do not like Obama and he just happens to be black. They erroneously (or deliberately?) rush to the WRONG conclusion that we just HAVE to be racist. Since Joy is black, surely they can’t think she is racist, but because I’m white, I therefore, have to be racist (never mind the fact that we both feel the same way about Obama, and our reasons for feeling that way). It’s this kind of thinking that creates the problems.
I wasn’t going to say anymore on the subject, but after watching him this morning at a press conference, I have to say something.
Rev. Wright said this morning that everyone is against the black church, not him. That is a blatant lie! No one that I’ve ever heard has said anything about being against the black church. No one has said that. This is about Wright and his own church, not the black church in general. He’s too arrogant and smart assed to believe that we could possibly be against him and everything he stands for. He just keeps stirring the pot. He is not doing the black race any favors with the crazy things he says and preaches about. I think the guy is a nut case, or just a plain trouble maker.
I really believe if Obama had never belonged to that particular church and had not been affiliated in any way with Wright, none of this would be happening, but we can’t overlook the fact the he has belonged to this church for 20 years and never saw fit to change churches. I also think that Obama may have won PA if he had not put us down the way he did. Most anyone would know that you don’t put down the very people whose vote you are needing and wanting. That wasn’t a very bright move on his part. I guess he wasn’t figuring on us ever finding out what he said about us. Pretty stupid.

Oh Freida and the white people who came from Europe use to say my mother was yellowish black… She use to laugh about it.
All the beautiful colours the Lord has made us in His wisdom!
BTW, Politician Wright now saying there is an attack against the black church…. His is not even a church!
The black church should speak out against what Wright is doing and take him to task for it.
We who have been attending black churches all our life know that Wright’s church is not representative of the black church.
Or at least not any of the black churches I attended in my lifetime.

The real mish
You were saying whites came here and work and African Americans did not. That is exactly that kind of ignorance that is causing us to have a debate about race in 2008.
April 28th, 2008 at 7:06 pm
the real mish
Black mothers and fathers do work and are financially responsible for their children. Where I live I see a shocking amount of whites on welfare.
To generalize/stereotype is foolish and ignorant you know that.
That is why we are all outraged about Obama’s bitter remarks.
April 28th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Anne, I just reread your comment to me and I felt compelled to tell you again, THANK YOU! I feel that is very high praise indeed and feel humbled by it. I’m not sure that I deserve it though, because I really don’t know that much about anything, only what I feel in my heart and what I feel is right, or wrong.
Also it’s good to see you again.

SO SAD

Jangie:
With “all due respect” you will feel a lot better if you cease believing the hatred spewed by those who work so hard at polluting people’s minds with paranoia.
Everyone who hurts, believes he or she has gone through the worst hell on earth.
A radio station that keeps me awake when I drive, had this news either today or yesterday. In a country, (Iceland I believe)an elderly man was taken into custody because it was just discovered he had been hiding his daughter in the basement for the past 24 years for the purpose of servicing him. She had given birth to at least five children during those years, and at least two had been put up for adoption by their father/grandfather. The old man’s daughter had not seen the light of day all those years.

The only words worth believing coming from Wrong, that uncontrolable shaker, is that Obama is a politician. He made it clear that Obama will say whatever will get him elected.
If I were forced to listen to someone’s ugly rantings, I would never go back, nor would I want to be associated with that person.
Are we to believe that Obama is so deeply religious that he was forced to go to that church because there were no others in the entire United States? How about his precious little girls? Are they already as ugly inside as their mother who feels deeply bruised by this mean old country?

Correction to the article I mentioned, thinking it was in Iceland.
The article “Austrian Man Confesses to Keeping Daughter, Her Children Captive in Cellar” is at Foxnews.com

Anne
I agree with you about Joni. I always value her insight. She should feel free to speak out as she has always done. It is a sad day if we stop speaking out because we are afraid that we may be perceived as racist.
It is easy to discern between a real racist remark and a sincere debate about issues. I never perceived Joni to be racist, I always thought she is very level headed and I learnt a lot from her.

I came to this site along time ago after the rest of the media did what they did to Howard after Anna died. I find it now funny how so many people on here now turn to the media instead of watching what these people actually said. If you watched the whole sermon Wright gave instead of 30 second clips you would see these were not racist sermons he spoke. He was talking about Black history. Truths that many Americans don’t want to face. This man has spent 40 years of his life helping low income familes. Not just black, but of all races. He served 6 years in the military, his church has helped many earn degrees, feed thousands of homeless a year, they helped many kids go to college, they help HIV/AIDS,they have drug programs, they have programs for our youngest of kids to high school and they have raised millions of dollars a year for the United Way. As far as what his wife said she was talking about the amount of people who signed up for vote this time. She was saying that she is so proud that so many people are listening this year. And as far as Obama’s bitter comment, the question that was asked was how do you plan on winning the votes in the small town of Pa. His response w/ the bitter comment was taken out of context. What he was saying was that small towns don’t seem to vote on the economy or jobs b/c washington isn’t listening or doing anything about it so they tend to vote on other issue like guns, religion & immigration. And back to the pastor, not all people are going to agree w/ there pastor all the time. I’m Catholic and I in no way support child molestation, but I know alot of good has been done at my church. I go for the teaching of God, not political views. Wright has given hundreds of sermons that did not include political views. Why is it we aren’t talking about Hillary’s pastor or what about John Hagee who John Mccain went after for support. As far as the most white people don’t support the KKK that is far from the truth. Just last year at my husband’s job(yes a black man that works) a man came to work w/ a kkk hood on. The year b/f that my mom joined a va club and once they found out she had kids who were half she got death threats and was called all kinds of racist names. Who would of thought that would matter in 2008. It does b/c racism is still alive. I’m not saying this in support of Obama. I’m actually voting for Hillary, but I was upset when the media did what they did to Howard K Stern as I am for what they are doing to Rev Wright and Obama.
April 30th, 2008 at 1:07 am
Joy, thank you so much for your kind words. I’m so glad that we can talk freely the way we do. I just wish people wouldn’t jump to all the wrong conclusions the way they do.
I feel honored that you and Anne think the way you do about me. I also feel the same about the two of you. I think you are both very nice ladies and am glad we can be here talking together. We have been here for some time now, haven’t we?
And Art, thank you for allowing us all to be here. Now, when are we going to hear any more about Howard, lol.
April 30th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Well seems that rather than ‘dividing’ us, the Rev has brought us together.
Blue black, yellow black…sound to me like lovely colors.
I’m olive, guess that makes me ‘green,’ YUK!!!
Hey but green is a friendly color, in the scheme of things or so I’ve learned.
Gosh, but Obama is now trying to ‘please us?’
Maybe the ‘election’ is more important to him than standing up for himself, and twenty-years of attending that ‘Church.’
Oh, well my husband told me more than a decade ago that Hillary was going to be our President one day.
May 1st, 2008 at 2:49 am
Yes I also wish people would not jump to conclusions. My postings mean that my ancestors came here long after many people who were born in the United States, had to learn a new language, find jobs and this they did and still raised their families without goverment help. Yes,there are welfare cases of all races, but the latest reports are that 70% of African-American children do not have a father in their lives, which is very sad. Wright’s preaching does nothing to help mend the race problem, only keeps it festering. That Obama called him a mentor and uncle until this week does not show me were his change is what is best for our country.
May 1st, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Isabel, what you and far too many others are deliberately refusing to see is that Black Americans HAVE gone through Hell, and although things are changing, change is comming way too slowly. Since the end of slavery, this government has had 143 years to make things right and they’re fighting tooth and nail not to do anything! I know the case you’re talking about, where the father kept the daughter hostage for decades. How can you POSSIBLY compare that to the systematic abuse and degradation of an entire race of people? There are families of lynching victims who, after FOURTY ODD YEARS are still trying to get justice for their murdered loved ones, and the whites in the community are throwing up road blocks, claiming some of those suspected of participating in the crime are dead when in fact they’re alive and well! How would you answer the old white woman who said that Mr Thomas, who was trying to get justice for his lynched brother, should “forget about the past and stop stirring up trouble” because “that was in the past long ago, and it aint gonna bring his brother back”. What do you want to bet that had a WHITE been murdered she would have been yelling for someones head to roll no matter HOW many years had passed!
As for the AIDS comment by Rev Wright, many Blacks DO believe it. I personally do NOT, but when you look at the history of HIV in this country, and how it was virtually ignored as long as the only ones affected were Gays and those in the inner cities, it’s not too hard to see how some can believe it. HIV/AIDS was only acknowledged as a problem when Rock Hudson, a friend of Pres Reagan, announced HE was infected! Then there was the Tuskegee experiment, where Black men, infected with Syphilis and left untreated just so the doctors could see how the disease progressed. Never in a million years would this have been done to Whites, so yes you do have a great GREAT many Blacks who believe as Wright says, that this government is capable of anything!
And Chris, I hope that the people on this forum read your post well because you speak the truth. Use the word “racist” and people get all offended. They know next to NOTHING about Black people in this country, nor have they TRIED to get to know Blacks though we’ve been living pretty much side by side for decades now. They just don’t get it that African Americans are NOT simply White Americans with dark skin.
And Joy, I didn’t mean to sound so harsh to you, but South Africa has never bragged about being the strongest, richest nation on earth and the land of the free. This country DOES and should hold itself up to its own standards!
Isabel, RACIST is the ONLY way to explain someone like you. SO QUICK to take the word of what many Blacks see as an out of control loudmouth (Wright) who was offended when Obama publically disagreed with some of his ideas and had a MOTIVE to say the things he did, over the words of Obama himself; a man with a White mother, who was raised by his White grandparents who, like most, if not ALL bi-racials and “passable” Blacks have had to walk that tight rope between the two worlds all their lives. My mother is bi-racial, and I inhereted her light skin, green eyes, and fine hair. I can tell you from experiance, that tight rope is NOT an easy one to walk! Easier than when I was growing up in the 1950’s and 60’s for sure, but it’s still precarious! You HAVE to reach out to both worlds. One that doesn’t really accept you, and the other that holds a lot of resentment against you.
May 2nd, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Real mish
I am not fighting with you. But let’s go a little furhter.
I checked the sex offenders registry recently and found that almost all men on there are middle-aged white men, and most of them had some “lewd conduct with a minor”.
You see where your kind of arguing will take us?
May 3rd, 2008 at 2:26 am
Gosh, I hope I don’t pi** anyone off.
But, I’ve just gotta say Obama is just, too darn sweet and I wish his wife would run for President…she looks tough as nails…something about that ‘jaw’ bone…or something.
This reminds me of a line from “The Last Samaria” (sp?)…
“I have enjoyed our conversation.”
May 3rd, 2008 at 1:19 pm
Real Mish
What your forefathers did, bless their souls, is not more honorable than what any of ours did.
Ours too had to work hard, many of them as slaves, without pay, and they too had to learn a new language.
Why are you so hooked on negative statistics about African Americans?
If you want to do it that way, for every negative statistic you can bring up about blacks, I can bring up 2 or more negative statistics about whites or any other race for that matter. See how senseless that is.
I brought up the sex offender’s registry example to make you see how absurd it is to look at things your way.
If you do not get it by now, I do not think you ever will. You and Rev Wright deserve each other. I give up.
May 4th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
APOLOGY!
Real Mish
I have been very rude to you and I feel like a jerk!
Please accepty my apology for that.
Joy
May 5th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
Hey, Joy and Mish…I feel like a jerk, too…paying for this!!!
So, much more could be done instead of paying for this!!!
Whatcha say, maybe we’re all a bunch of dumb monkeys?
I know I am.
And, although I really don’t want to, I think I’m gonna have to give up and stop paying for ‘Cable Internet and Television and Gasoline,’ too!!!
LOL
May 6th, 2008 at 1:07 am
Oh, well. Each of us have our own minds made up and nobody is going to change it. How about that?
I have read that after the age of eleven, the part of the brain that controls speech is no longer as malleable, so if you learn a language after the brain is “set” in its ways, it is difficult to speak without an accent. I was fifteen when I came here, so you guessed it! I have an accent which puts me in a negative light as soon as I open my mouth. For forty four years I have had to deal with people thinking negatively of me and if I get nervous and forget a word, they immediately think I cannot speak the language and treat me as if I were a stupid idiot. Since I never speak anything else but English, my birth language is even worse because I simply cannot speak it and no longer understand it fully. Regardless of not belonging in either country speechwise, I feel American, I am American and I cannot tolerate other nation’s stupidity toward this country.
I am not comparing my negative experiences with another person’s bad experiences, but to me, my life has not been a bowl of cherries — and that bowl of rotten cherries does not even include my two “dreamy” marriages to two worthless frogs. We all go through our own hell and to each one of us it is the worst imaginable experience.
Jangie, I wish I had been lynched while I was still innocent.
May 6th, 2008 at 1:39 am
Joy………. Your apology to Real Mish was very nice and sweet. Says a lot about the wonderful person you must be.
May 6th, 2008 at 6:55 am
P.S. If making comments about one’s manner of speech or accent is not “racist”, think again. It is also intrusive and unkind. To those people who tell me how much they “love” my accent, I would very much like to tell them to drop dead. There is also the “how cute!” “Where are you from?” If only I could answer their question by pointing out something about them that sticks out like a sore thumb, I would happily do so but never have out of politeness.
The moral of the story is, everybody puts up with crap on this earth. No one is immune. On the other hand, I could get on the pulpit and shout all the ugly answers I would love to give to those willing to flock around me. A silly robe and idiotic body tremors would complete the picture.
May 7th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
Anne, thanks a lot, but believe me I am fighting my evil self everyday!!
Isabel, talk about accents. I even bought a CD on how to sound like an American, and it did not help a bit!!
And that “how cute”, I always take it with a whole teaspoon of salt!
Even when I write I feel uncomfortable, I feel maybe I am even writing with an accent?! Oh well, nothing we can do about it, I suppose.
May 8th, 2008 at 12:25 am
Anne: I agree with your post #111. It does indeed tell what kind of wonderful person she is. She is very fair minded and doesn’t jump to all the wrong conclusions the way some others do, or twist things around to fit into their own warped minds. Those people absolutely refuse to see the truth.
They remind me of the Virgie gang.
May 8th, 2008 at 1:30 am
Well, I can already tell, when Hillary wins, everyone will be on that ’same old bandwagon’ like when Bush won and Al Gore didn’t.
May 13th, 2008 at 11:57 pm
Speaking of the devil, Al Gore….if Obama is not picked to be our god, maybe Al Gore can invite him on his crusade to save the earth. He can nominate Obama to study the penguins in the arctic region; Michelle can make herself at home in an iglo far from the mean people. The girls can raise little penguins while being home schooled away from the mean people. Reverend shaker can visit whenever he can catch a piece of ice by using his hands to paddle. The energy required for these feats should cure all their ills and hatred — not to mention the whiteness surrounding them and the expansive clear horizon.
May 15th, 2008 at 1:58 am
Isabel #116…….. LOL (I could actually see that picture you painted) - well written, amusing (just plain funny)!
May 15th, 2008 at 1:47 pm
Isabel, you are crazy, as usuall!!
And I like it!!
