Bald Truth Scoop: Mystery Woman In Clown Video Freeze Frame Disputes Ford Shelley

Believe it or not, Anna Nicole Smith appeared happy, lucid and sober during the day the so called Clown Video was shot at her Horizons house in the Bahamas, according to a guest who attended a belated birthday party for the daughter of Ford and Gina Shelley. Riley had just turned nine, when a very pregnant ex- Playboy model pulled out the stops to show her a good time.
“Anna was fine,” says Tara Grinna, an acclaimed swimsuit designer in an exclusive interview with The Bald Truth. “Ford wouldn’t have left Riley there if she hadn’t been.”
Almost six months later, after Smith died of an accidental prescription drug overdose in Florida, Tara says she was shocked to see Ford on talk shows touting the Clown tape as proof Anna had to be gorked out on drugs.
“Absolutely not while we were there,” she tells me, “and we there at least a couple of hours. That was the first time I’d heard that.”

For the Bahamas trip, Anna stayed with the Shelleys on Paradise Island, and accompanied Gina to Horizons to fix up a baby room. Anna was eight months pregnant and glowing as she played with Riley in the pool. Then Tara, waded in with Ford, Gina, her husband, Rune, who helps run the company, and daughter, Kirsti, then 17 and the youngest swim wear creator to ever see her bikinis in Sports Illustrated, with models sporting fur hats, boots and attitude, as befitting a line named ‘KGB.”
While freeze frames of the clown video obtained by The Bald Truth show other people at the pool that day, we are the first to report, identify and interview other visitors who were there. Tara Grinna’s account certainly raises questions about the image of a drug-addled Smith in the final days of pregnancy that Shelley has been peddling to talk shows, along with edited portions of the Clown tape he admits taking from Horizons, the day after she died.
“I wasn’t aware of any of what he said about the (clown) video until it came out on the news,” says Tara.
“Did Ford or Gina ever say, ‘Wow, Anna was really out of it that day?” I ask.
“Absolutely not, or the child wouldn’t have been left there,” said Tara. “My teenage daughter was with us as well. Anna was perfectly fine. They were celebrating. She’d missed Riley’s birthday, so they were celebrating (it ) a little late.”
She doesn’t recall seeing a camera before she left to go to dinner with the Shelleys, but believes she’s the woman with face obscured, wearing a dark cover-up on the so called Clown tape played on Greta Van Sustern’s FOX News show. In that shot, you can also see Anna in the pool with Riley on a raft. Tara’s unsure if Anna was wearing a Tara Grinna bikini that day, but says she’s sported them before.
To set the stage for a fun day, Tara recalls Anna dispatched Stern to buy ice cream, cake, decorations and presents for Riley. He came back with two of everything.
“We had cake, deserts, Riley had coloring books, and she and Anna were playing games and dolls…Anna was in the pool with my husband, me, my daughter, Ford, Gina and Howard.”
In the clown video, Anna can be seen standing by a raft with Riley on it. “When I was in the pool,” says Tara, “sitting on the steps, Anna was floating on the raft.
“It was a sunny day, and we were just laughing and talking, not about a whole lot of anything in particular. It was not a wild party. It felt like a Sunday with my grandmother at a family event. We left to go eat dinner, and Riley wanted to stay and of course play with all the toys she’d just gotten.”
After they left for dinner, Gina reported she made several calls to Riley to check on her, but she didn’t seem upset at all, even after telling Stern to call a doctor because Anna was acting strange, as if the doll was a real baby. Gina says Stern directed Riley to a phone inside the house, while asking Anna if this is a “mushroom trip,” and to cool it because “you’re scaring Riley.”
Stern has said Anna’s ditzy, out-of-it persona, after she and Riley painted their faces, has been misconstrued and was typical Anna getting off by goofing on others, adopting a character she played in her Anna Nicole series and the recent movie, Space Aliens, not high on drugs, just life, in the final days of pregnancy. He’s said before that Anna she was weaned off Methadone, prescribed as a painkiller, by the time the baby was born.
At her birthday party, Riley was apparently having such a fine time with Anna, according to her mother, she asked to stay longer. Tara says neither Ford nor Gina mentioned anything wrong with Riley at dinner or after.
Later, when they returned to pick up Riley, Tara says she never heard her mention being frightened, that Anna had been acting weird or Shelley complain that he felt his daughter had been in danger.
It was only after Shelley’s bitter title dispute over Horizons kicked into high gear after Anna died that he began whipping up a Clown tape frenzy, trashing Stern as a drug-dispensing control freak on TV.
At the inquest Tuesday, Stern disputed Shelley’s account, denying he’d ever given Daniel Methadone and was unaware of his drug problem because he was away from the house much of the year working on the Marshal litigation.
Ford admits taking the Clown tape and other items from Horizons the day after Anna died, and confided to Larry Birkhead he’s yet to return it and other items.
He says he’s angry. But The Bald Truth has learned what likely upset Shelley. Stern has told friends that Anna refused Riley’s request to take all the toys she’d bought back to South Carolina, including a bicycle, insisting some remain in the Bahamas, to play with next time.
If that riled Riley, her father was furious, according to the Stern account, making some wonder if a dispute over toys, not drugs, sparked Ford’s rage in Judge Larry Seidlin’s Florida courtroom when the son of a South Carolina used car dealer snarled, “Howard, I will NEVER forgive you!”
Friends who have seen father and daughter together say Ford has an especially close relationship with Riley, so close he’s been known to weep when she goes off to camp, and spoils her like a princess.
Ford did not return several calls for comment, but did tell me last year he wished Howard and Anna could forgive him, and that he just wants the house back, despite dropping his court fight for title.
As for the Clown tape, Stern has conceded she might appear out of it, but that was a persona she often adopted, especially when playing with kids like Riley.
The tape was among dozens of items Shelley took from the house the day after Smith died of an accidental drug overdose, claiming she wanted him to safeguard her property if anything happened to her. Larry Birkhead has said Shelley has yet to return that and other items he took that now belong to Anna’s daughter, Dannielynn.
A freeze frame of the Clown video obtained by The Bald Truth, aka artrtharris.com, shows four guests at Horizons that day, in addition to Stern and Smith.
Tara says Anna dispatched Stern to the store to buy cake, ice cream, coloring books and crayons and decorations, “all kinds of things,” and that her teenage daughter played with the girls as well.
“She’s 17, but we were all having a nice time,” she says.
Sources tell me Shelley turned a copy of the tape over to investigators with the California Department of Justice, who are investigating drug prescriptions for Anna written to other names, including Stern and Shelley father in law, G. Ben Thompson, the South Carolina developer who briefly dated her. But it’s unclear how much has been edited.
The Bald Truth has learned investigators may also expand their probe to Daniel’s drug use; the 20 year old died of an overdose related to a toxic stew of methadone and anti-depressants—the subject of the inquest in the Bahamas that’s expected to have a verdict by Thursday.
Tara Grinna tells me she’s yet to be contacted by California investigators, who have interviewed the Shelleys, to get the rest of the story. .
Sources close to that investigation tell me those investigators actually find Shelley and father in law G. Ben Thompson, a real estate developer and convicted drug smuggler, “credible,” and have factored in the bitter Horizons property dispute with Howard K. Stern, Anna Nicole’s longtime companion and executor who supervised the Clown tape shoot Anna aimed to put on her fan site.
Stern’s al lawyers weren’t allowed to introduce that e information to the inquest jurors when Thompson described f stern as drug d pusher and Shelley too.
While Stern’s lawyers say Thompson’s drug conviction, and federal prison term, would bar him from dealing in property in the Bahamas, sources close to the drug investigators say they have discounted it. “It happened a long time ago,” a source close to the case tells me.

Why are investigators not investigating the WHOLE story? Why are certain individuals allowed to abuse this justice system we have and not be held accountable themselves? Someone needs to take a good hard look at the motives of some of these people and shut them down. No one should have to be subjected to the abuse Howard has had to endure from the media and others. Could it be that certain individuals are pulling strings within the legal channels that allow them to continue in their quest to take a man down? IMO it appears that some are in a “take no prisoners frame of mind” and will do whatever they feel necessary to get what they desire. I think the investigators need to flip things up and investigate those so eager to convict Howard…maybe…just maybe…they’ll find the real lawbreakers and truth will ultimately prevail. JMO’s of course!

Sorry for my name here but I was really tired of having my moniker stolen. I am convinced more than ever now that this is a lynch mob situation here IMO. I have to wonder why the investigators are not investigating the WHOLE STORY either. Deb H. really sums it up best. I had some doubts at first about Howard and that is due to listening to all this garbage spread on all the blogs and the media (and whoever owns various websites), but after his testimony yesterday and also from reading credible sources that state the contrary (and I really hope more facts come out even more in the days to come) that he is being lynched and these people will not be satisfied unless they can get someone to go down for this.

This is just sad, and hilarious for all the brainwashed kool-aid drinking discplies of Team Texas who held this “precious” footage of Anna being drugged up and Stern exploiting her as the holy grail that validates their beliefs, along with Ritas book, but thats a whole other issue.
Most woman can not relate to Annas lifestyle and resent her island hopping mansion filled luxury life she had with men eating out of her hand, because they are stuck in their own crappy relationships while they type venom towards Anna on the computer waiting for their hubbys to come home from the bar every night.
There is no doubt in my mind Anna was just talking baby talk to Riley and I am sure Riley found it odd, but I would bet in an amusing way, the little girl seemed to have the gift to interact and play along with Annas outrageous ways, her dumb Dad is the one who is exploing this situation for really basically nothing, he is just a huge loser basically.
I will be checking Taras swimsuit line, I am sorry to hear that her line only goes up to a size 18, that is really going to have the Virgie deciples bitching you only like slim woman, another thing they hate.

Why didn’t these people come forward before now? The hell ANS went thur. The reporters (Greta and Nancy) showing the edited tape and destroying so many lives and the people who where there only step forward now? This doesn’t make any sense. I didn’t beleive ANS was on drugs like Shelley said because of the blood test done at the hospital when the baby was born. I would like to see the reporters eat alot of crow.

It sickens me that Howard has to face more legal issues from thieves that stole Anna’s video in the first place.
Are they trying to make a deal, immunity for theft? I do not understand as they (SC bunch) have sold video’s, pictures, and other belongings of Anna’s. GBT’s name was on some of Anna’s prescriptions, this is common for people who do not go into drugstores as frequently as Britney…
Two accidental overdoses, no one forced them to take any medicines! If the AG of CA wants to help, then pass laws to make a worldwide database for the doctors not to duplicate or prescribe medicines that have a bad interaction. That will do more good then any targeted sting on people with the persons that are pointing the finger are gulity of more crimes than the doctors in this case!

As much as I am glad she finally came forward and spoke the truth, it still pisses me off. WTH, why now? This should have come out longgggg ago. Before this Inquest. Before all the crap on TV and the frenzy over this video. I sure hope they are hearing about this, but it is probably too late. I am outraged again. This is ridiculous to put someone through knowing the truth and not saying anything until now. I am glad she finally did but geesh, this could have come out a lot sooner for Howard’s sake. More probing into these folks needs to be done. If the other side would focus more on the truth, they just might find it.

I could not believe that tape was ever played in that silly Fla courtroom. I hope Greta will talk with Tara Grinna on her show as she sure made a big deal of talking to Ford Shelley about the tape – he was crying and saying how much he loved Anna and how Anna wanted him to “protect” (steal)
her belongings. What a jerk – I hope they never get the house back.

The most surprising thing to me is that investigators ACTUALLY find Shelly and Thompson credible even after factoring in the property dispute. They also discount the
drug conviction and federal prison record because “it happened a long time ago”. Shelly and Thompson’s actions against Howard shows them to be NOT AT ALL CREDIBLE and looks like they will get away with it. What is wrong with a legal system that allows men like Shelly and Thompson to destroy another person just because they can and get away with it??? Howard has been lied to, lied on, attacked, humiliated, his reputation destroyed by people who are unworthy to even shine his shoes. The legal system, the media, so called family members and so called friends are being looked at as CREDIBLE and their actions are DISCOUNTED for one reason or another!!! I have no idea where Howard finds the strength to go on but he has and I know that he will. My admiration and respect for him has never faltered and never will. Maybe the INVESTIGATORS need to be INVESTIGATED in order to see if they are INVESTIGATING the people who needs to be INVESTEGATED! Sorry, but I am so angry, so upset – what has been done and continues to be done to Howard is just WRONG in so many areas.

Well just the fact that they find the Thompson boys somewhat credible is disturbing,.wonder where these investigators come from Oquinns office???
Howard is a just pawn in this big Oquinn scale of things they are hoping that Howard gives up, drops the case, and gives back the house, and moves on, so that the law firm of John O’quinn the sharkfinn move in, and take over the financial aspect of it along with anything else that is hanging on.
Howard best advice “this happened a very long time ago is a great statement, another one would be :I do not remember as I am still traumatized from these recent events of losing a friend an lover and child please be patient with me…”

It’s a shame these people let Howard go through this for the last year and didn’t speak up. I have no friends that I would let them ruin another person’s life for their own benefit and not speak up against them. If they will do that to Howard, they will do it to these people who didn’t defend an innocent man. I am so disappointed that the SC gang are getting away with this and the LE is doing nothing about it. They should have been locked up in the Bahamas when they got out of court. I am in my late forties and have never seen a celebrity and their support group treated this badly, whether alive or dead.

Flowers IMO they FS and GBT were told they would not be arrested when they came to testify because the investigation was still ongoing.Don’t know what is taking so long FS admited he took things that did not belong to him and should be made to give them back.like the video of Anna’s last movie you can bet he will not give that back.maybe he is holding on to thing as a way to get some of the money they lost in the Horizon deal.Howard has to be furious that these people would not leave Anna alone while she was grieving for her son. Well, I guess it is LE’s turn to have their 15 minutes of fame now. As horrible as it is to admit, they are not after the truth to this situation, but rather how much public exposure they could attain by going after Howard!
Guess someone has an election coming up and are weighing the benefit of charging Howard with “something” based on those convicted drug runners statements. God help us! Even our LE can be bought if it benefits them enough! (wonder how much O’Drunk will contribute to their campaign!)
Between our “scandal and rumor” news reporting and LE using those “scandals and rumors” to get exposure to get elected, it is no wonder other countries are laughing at this once proud country! No wonder Anna moved to the Bahamas!

I can’t say as I blame Tara for not coming forward early on.
I think it’s much better to delay for a bit and let the Liars hang themselves, before coming forward with the truth.
Knowing when to present “the element of surprise” is a good thing.

Seems to me there was no party during the clown video.
So why can’t Tara see that she had taken drugs when Howard got there. The little girl obviously said “Please Howard there is brain trouble, she needs a doctor” The kid saw it too. and she was not not brain washed by any one.

I knew there was more to this clown Video. Anna Nicole loved to be funny. After I watched her movie Illegal Aliens I thought that the Way she was acting in the clown video was very similar to her character in illegal aliens.Thanks for getting to the bottom of this art
