The Bald Truth: JFK’s “Camelot” for Obama!

A day after his landslide victory in the South Carolina Democratic primary, Senator Barack Obama won another surprise endorsement from the princess of an American political dynasty — Caroline Kennedy.
The daughter of the late President, who energized the nation as a symbol of youth, passion and hope before he died form an assassin’s bullet in a Texas motorcade, wrote in Sunday’s New York Times that Obama reminded her of her late father, and the ideals he believed in.
There were other reports that her uncle, Sen. Ted Kennedy, aimed to climb on the Obama bandwagon, too, according to sources inside the campaign.
That would be another major setback for Sen. Hillary Clinton, if indeed another Kennedy, especially an elder statesman of the party, broke ranks with his former ally, Bill Clinton.
According to The Washington news website Politico.com, the Clintons “launched a last-ditch effort over the last few days to stop Kennedy’s move, orchestrating a flood of phone calls to Kennedy from sources ranging from union chiefs to his Massachusetts constituents.”
In her Times piece, Caroline compared Obama to her father, president from 1961 to his assassination in 1963.
“Sometimes it takes a while to recognize that someone has a special ability to get us to believe in ourselves … and imagine that together we can do great things,” she wrote in The New York Times on Sunday.
“Senator Obama is inspiring my children, my parents’ grandchildren, with that sense of possibility,” she said in the article titled “A President Like my Father.”
Agence France Press reported that Obama was humbled by Caroline Kennedy’s endorsement, calling it “an extraordinary honor … For somebody I think who has been such an important part of our national imagination and generally shies away from day-to-day politics to step out like that is something I’m very grateful for.”

I still think I’ll vote for someone ‘we’ don’t need to support so long.
I want the most for my tax dollar!
LOL…Chuck Norris (sp?)

I have listened to Obama’s speeches and yes, it is time for a change. We have withstood too many years of the Bush family (not good) and too many years of the Clintons. I do not like the idea of going backwards and awarding the White House to the Arkansas mafia. I choose to look ahead and not nostalgically look back on the 90’s. Obama inspires me and I will gladly vote for him on February 5th. Obama is the one!

I also read where Ted Kennedy will be comming out in support of Obama on Monday also.Caroline was right in what she wrote ,when I first heard Obama speack about runnng for president and his speach for change, the first person I thought of was Caroline’s Father and his message of hope and we can do it.No one thought he could or would win but he surprised all.I am hoping that whom ever wins the nomination either democrat or republican will endorse change and not he same old washington that we have all known. We need real change and the time is now.

“A president like my father….Carolyn Kennedy ” how does she know she was 5 years old when he died. Did she ever ask him, “hey Dad what do you think about these important issues today??”
Today tomorrow what kind of endorsement is that ? Thoughtless, and immature and blind promises..etc etc
If I were Obama, I would not run after those comments, the other side of the Kennedy family has endorsed Hilary the Bobby Kennedy clan.
So there is a family division and that creates family angst…
Anything a Kennedy endorses comes with a curse it never ends.
They should just shut up as the last time they were in politics was a very long time ago. Ted with that Mary Jo Kopeckne situation that was never solved, he has drinking issues,I saw him in Florida recently he cannot hold his liquor at all, and Carolyn who really just does charity work for her mothers foundations that is pretense for a selection on a very important election. She knows not what she talks about, she is not an expert just a wannabee.
I hate endorsements they create followers instead of people who will actually take time and intelligence to examine the candidates, the issues, and what they stand for, it is a lazy way of selecting someone to rule. Example: Opray all she should endorse is loose bowels medication because she is losing it with her mouth. Stick to what you do best girlfriend and endorsments can be painful remember that book that you selected and he was liar???that James Fray???
PEOPLE TAKE TIME TO KNOW THE PERSON YOU ARE VOTING FOR listen to your gut after you read what these people have done, and do read alot, talk before you accept a media stars acceptance.
Chances are the many reasons for this selection is a future favours or jobs, read between the lines an please use your judgement instead of plain laziness.
I will tell you my endorsement would be Hillary on this side John Mccain on the other side both of these people have solid work experiance in Washington.
Taking an unknown leaves stock markets breathless with anticipation for the next slide. Uncertainty is measure of illogical minds.
Vote for certainty not dreams, an certainly not romantic dreams of a child who lost a father a very long time ago which was so tragic it left her with no speech till now Where was she ,last election when the decision to change was greatest than.
If Hillary wins or John wins they are going to have clean house and this requires someone with guts and energy. Carolyn with your millions, do you have health care do you worry at night being a single mother with children with no healthcare in site, did you take the time to watch Michael Moores video called Sicko before you made those comments?
Carolyn there are millions that are flat out broke with no health care, no jobs no homes because of the melt down however you live in the 1 percent of families with extreme wealth the rest live below the poverty line….and it is increasing while you buy your next Valentino suit..this reeks Marie Antionette all over again “let them eat cake”

Are we being Bam Boozie by the Obama Campaign?
January 28th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Endorsements really don’t influence me much. In the case of Caroline and Ted, it seems to me that they cancel each other’s influence.
January 28th, 2008 at 2:21 pm
I happen to agree with Bill Clinton about this being a fairy tale. Not that I want Hilory either.
January 28th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
It was reported that Bill Clinton called Ted Kennedy and begged him not to endorse Obama. The Clintons have a number of enemies within their own party and I guess it is payback time. Should we look forward to more tears from Hillary on prime time TV?
January 29th, 2008 at 11:43 am
Everybody loves him!!!
He will be the next JFK?
I sure hope not.
No one, including him, is thinking about his family and those little girls.
Wish he would wait, wish everyone wasn’t so selfish.
He’s a good man, I have not a doubt…just a little, too ‘caught up’ in the ‘moment.’
I think.
I wish for now he would just be a good daddy.
The Clinton’s and Oprah(s), and Kennedy’s seem too, ready to ’sacrifice’ him.
January 30th, 2008 at 1:48 am
Why aren’t people looking for substance in the candadates. A vote for Obama, is a vote for another Republican President. Don’t give Rush and crew, there hey day. John Edwards is the only real chance the Democrats have to win. Obama will not win nationwide, anyone who thinks so is naive.
January 30th, 2008 at 3:12 am
Missy:
I agree with you except when it came to Michael Moore. That sack of garbage needs to have his medical needs attended to by his friends in Castroland.
Ted Kennedy needs to walk away and go look for Mary Jo. The two Kennedys and Mary Jo can get together and vote for Obama. Oprah, too, can join them.
I do not know whether or not John Kennedy was truly a great President or whether people were simply enamored with his looks and mesmerized by the dreamy and “happy” couple. After death everyone suddenly becomes perfect, anyway –even serial womanizers.
January 30th, 2008 at 4:58 am
Joanne:
Be sure to read Obama’s book before you vote. It will be so riveting, you will not be able to put it down.

Isabel and Missy M
I agree.

What a great show Ted Kennedy put up when introducing Obama! Kennedy was smiling and had a pleasant look on his face, a pleasant look I cannot remember ever seeing!
All I have seen of Ted Kennedy are rants and rages directed mostly at the current president. He needs to voluntarily join his brothers for some touch football.

John F. Kennedy was very charming and handsome. I saw him in person when he was president. He had a beautiful wife who loved him and stood by him, but he cheated on her and flaunted it in the White House and with Marilyn Monroe. His children Carolyn and John Jr. tried to lead worthwhile lives, but I give credit to their mother for that. Caroline Kennedy’s endorsement of Obama means nothing to me. She was a baby when her father was president. Naturally she loves the memory of her father, but that does not make him a good president. His death was a terrible tradgedy, but “Camelot” was coined only afetter his death . Ted Kennedy’s cowardice caused him t leave ayoung woman to drown in a submerged car by not calling for help when he knew he should. The endorsement of Ted and Caroline Kennedy means nothing to me and if anything would cause me not to vote for their choice for president. I have not decided who to vote for yet, I am not impressed with any of them, but I do feel that the Kennedy’s should just stay out of it.

Thanks Isabel and Joy I was eight years old when John died I remember so clearly on a black and white television. Isabel your remarks about him are dang on and Smitty said it best. John Kennedy was a womanizer, AND CHEATER, there is a line that says MEN LOVE BLUEBERRY PIE ONE IN AWHILE THEY LIKE A LITTLE APPLE PIE HOWEVER THEY ALWAYS GO BACK TO THE BLUEBERRY PIE…MEN LOVE HISTORY THEY NEVER LEAVE THEIR WIVES.
Kennedies have a history of this sort of behavior so if you ask me if they are endorsing this guy maybe birds of a feather flock together cheaters I mean!

I can imagine how thrilled Bin Laden and his buddies would be if Barak Obama is elected president! I really wonder what he really is and who is behind this. Those guys intent on destroying the US want to infiltrate from within and how better to do it than to start from top! The list of dignitaries invited to the White House would be quite interesting.
Somehow he manages to raise so much money and so fast. Trully amazing he has so many sympathizers.

P.S.
Never mind, I answered my own questions. It is his “Kennedy” charm that attracts donations.

I remember JFK well! I was 14 when he was assassinated. I would LOVE to have the hope and confidence of that era back! When we thought we could do anything we put our minds to! I remember JFK saying, “we chose to go to the moon and do the other things in this decade not because they are easy, but because they are haaaard!” As far as Caroline, I’m sure she knows her father a LOT better than WE do! She was old enough to remember THE MAN, and was raised by someone who truly knew HIM, not just the tabloid caricature, which is all most of US know. I find it curious that SOMEONE Always brings up womanizing. WHO CARES! What he did for the COUNTRY is what matters! I swear you people need to GROW UP!
FDR, wheelchair bound, was with his MISTRESS when HE died! Ike had a mistress when he was in Europe during WWII, and carried on the affair even when he was in the White House! By the way, did you know that Mamie was a stone cold alcoholic? Or that there were serious questions regarding Eleanor Roosevelt’s sexuality? Thomas Jefferson had a whole other family with one of his slaves, Sally Hennings. He even took her to Europe with him! Old Honest Abe suffered debilitating bouts of depression, and his wife had mental issues, to put it mildly! YET all these people made TREMENDOUS contributions to this country and society as a whole, but because they could never have walked on water, they’re condemmed! YET we end up with GWB who was, (and might STILL be)an alcoholic and coke head and no one says anything!
February 11th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
We may grow up and accept the fact that there have been many imperfect characters in the White House but being a womanizer is a character flaw synonymous with dishonesty and lack of respect for oneself and one’s partner. In other words it is disgusting and if you practice it, shame on you.
February 15th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
Isabel: FDR brought about the end of the depression with his leadership; gave us the New Deal. Some of the programs like Social Security, FHA (Federal Housing Administration) which every year helps MILLIONS of people become home owners, FDIC which keeps the individual from losing their money if the bank gets into financial trouble, and many others are still around and helping people today! JFK for all his faults supported the civil rights movement when it was highly unpopular to do so, the space program came into prominence under him. He started the peace corp, and came up with the Special Forces (military) which is STILL a very prestigious outfit. I was 12 years old during the Cuban Missile Crisis when we were on the BRINK of nuclear war. I can’t BEGIN to tell you how scary that time was! Who ever he was dallying with it didn’t compromise his ability to wheel and deal with Kruschev so that both governments were able to back down and not look weak. What you and way too many others consider a character flaw is in truth no ones business unless it affects job performance.
February 18th, 2008 at 3:39 am
Whatever! Suit yourself!
The way I see it, we would have been better off being nuked at the time when we were being taught to take cover under school desks than reach this civilization when school children hide under their desks to dodge bullets from their classmates.
February 28th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
Camelot, indeed. If Obama becomes president, bow tie makers’ businesses will hit the roof. One day we will wake up to find out the new dinner plates picked by the First Lady are delicately painted by the finest, featuring bow ties galore.

If Obama’s grandmother is still alive, I hope she lets him have an earfull. If she is not still living, I hope she sees to it that he has nightmares for as long as his skinny ass is on this earth.
I imagine if Obama were placed in a high position he would see to it that a direct link was available 24/7 to the terrorists to make sure they are kept apprised at all times of the government’s internal secrets. To be fair, he ought to also include his intimate family quarters in that link. To share is to be loved.

Mr. Harris, thank you for providing me with my own web page. Just being facetious!
March 20th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
I wonder whether Ted Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy are still proud of themselves.
March 26th, 2008 at 12:25 am
Today’s US mail delivered a magazine with the picture of a young man on its cover. That young man changed his name from Barry to Obama. I immediately thought of Cat Stevens.
May 19th, 2008 at 12:44 am
I heard on the news that Obama has spoken with Ted Kennedy to express his wishes for a speedy recovery. Ted Kennedy will still be kicking around for many years to come and indulge in what he does best, which is making an a— of himself. It is unfortunate that Carolyn has allowed herself to be part of that embarrassment.

Ted Kennedy seems to have been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Now we know what has prompted his ugly comments and lack of respect toward the president, as well as his being bossom buddies with Barack Osama.
