The Bald Truth: Welcome Back Nancy Grace!
By Art Harris, (c) www.artharris.com, all rights reserved
She showed off twin miracles first day back on the job from maternity leave Monday night, and John David and Lucy Elizabeth stole the show, as CNN Headline News anchor Nancy Grace told how docs saved her life from a pulmonary edema that forced a caesarean section two months before her babies were due.
All she remembers, she said, is the twins being pulled out Nov. 4, eyeing them for 45 seconds, elated long enough to kiss her finger and touch their heads, then falling under sedation.
Then came the fight to get her healthy, and pack a few pounds on the preemies, now six and eight pounds and born one second apart.
As for Christmas miracles, she said she was grateful for a happy, healthy family, thoughts and prayers from friends and fans… and a sudden cure for a long-standing heart problem–a broken heart she suffered as a crime victim like those she champions, a scar that has haunted her ever since a college fiance named Keith, a scholarship Valdosta State baseball star, was gunned down on a South Georgia job site by an inmate mistakenly released.
It was a murder that rocked her world, and sent a young woman who had dreamed of teaching English spiraling downward, until she found law school, and lost herself in a fierce committment to solving crimes and comforting victims.
She was an undefeated prosecutor in Fulton County, Georgia, when we first met. I watched her put killers behind bars, and send pimps to prison, convincing a prissy jury of upscale, Southern matrons that a 13-year-old African American girl who looked 18 had been forced into prostitition and was, indeed, “as much of a child of God” as their own aspiring Junior League daughters in training bras.
She’d never publically revealed her personal story, but had confided in my late step-sister, Atlanta attorney Meg Roop, a bright spirit who lit up a room, and worked as a prosecutor in nearby family court. A single, working mom, Meg was committed to rescuing abused children and helping save them from terrible fates. She told me about Nancy, and I asked her for an introduction. We met, and I suggested her story could help heal and inspire other victims, and she finally agreed to let me follow her with a camera and tell it.
She apparently touched people, with her combo of compassion and toughness, especially victims, and the profile won an American Women in Film Award for the “positive portrayal of women,” as more and more women began to reach out to touch her, adopt her as a role model.
But through all her crime-fighting, before she learned she was made for TV…no matter how hard she prayed, no matter how many church services she attended, Nancy was haunted by the pain of losing a man she loved and didn’t want to ever feel that hurt again, risk loving that deeply and losing…until the twins were born and opened her heart, she says.
She never thought it possible, but for the first time in 20 years, she says she feels free to live and love unconditionally and with abandon, and has been sharing her journey with CNN viewers and in this week’s issue of People magazine.
It may sound corny, like a fairy tale story of one of the victims she’s championed for more than 20 years, but it belongs to Nancy Grace, and as someone who has watched her hurt and heal, comforting others while never letting anyone get too close, until now, it’s proof that miracles do happen, and you can bet Nancy will keep offering that hope to others who hurt.
As for predators who would dare harm a child, they can forget it. They will evoke only the Grace of Wrath, as she bids them an eternity to “rot in hell.”
Welcome back, Nancy, and welcome into the world, Lucy Elizabeth and John David, a world your Mom has fought to make a safer place for you and all our children.

Art, that is a very nice article.
I am also glad that Nancy Grace and her two babies are well. Her tactics on the air I may not agree with, but would never wish her or anyone else any more heartbreak.
She is a very religious person, her video on her baby blog says she named her son John after John from the Bible. (David from her husband’s first name) Wonder if he will have the nickname J.D.? She has made a strong stand against people who harm children and others.
I bet it was scary to have breathing problems, go into the hospital and find out you have blood clots in your lungs.
I am glad that she and her new son and daughter are well.
I believe that was one minuet apart, not one second…
could be wrong, thought she said 1:54 & 1:55 - No matter.

It is so wonderful ,Nancy,s two little sweethearts, and as mad as I get at her sometime it is good to have her back.NANCY HAS WHAT NOW MATTERS IN LIFE( A FAMILY.)And the older you get,the more you will understand that,My one complaint with Nancy is,if she ask a question of someone ,please let them finish,I DO NOT LIKE WHEN A PERSON IS TALKING AND NANCY INTERRUPTS.Legal wise she know what she is saying,

I love Nancy Grace. I am so glad her twins are ok and she had that pulmonary edema. Without that they wouln’t have known about Lucy. It”s so refreshing to see the glow she has now. That glow is motherhood. I’m sure she had regrets about leaving them. I’m glad she showed us well how they are doing. Love you Cynthia Mosher

Thank you for the story, Art. i will get busted by maryst for coming back here to post, but so be it.After all the had publicity that came from Nancy about Howard, I could not stand her, Idon’t want to see her being mean to him again, but then i do not have to watch her program. I am glad she came through the birh of her twins safely, and i do believe she has moved on from the bashing of Howard. Hope, she has mellowed toward life, with the births. I have no doubt she will be a great mother, and I hope her family well.

It’s always nice to hear the tale behind the tape, so to speak. I’ve not been a huge fan, but maybe I can look with new eyes?
Congrats on the babies.
January 8th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
Can you imagine being inside this woman invitro with her screaming all the time? No wonder those babies came faster than anticipated..ai carumba my ears hurt..
Nancy congrats stop screaming we hear you so do your babies..take a chill pill, and enjoy your twins.

It’s easy to form opinions from snippets and soundbites of someone in front of a camera. To actually know them and how they think and feel and what inspires and drives and comforts them, are an entirely different matter.
From your background story and watching her in action last night, I could see a difference. A little more soft spoken, a little more vulnerable. And alot of maternal. Kids can do that to you. Break down those barriers around your heart and make those walls come tumbling down. I like the new Nancy. I knew she had problems with the pregnancy but wasn’t aware of the full extent. May she and her children be blessed with many happy moments.

I am glad to see that Nancy and her babies are okay. Her show is great. She really has an admirable career.
Art, have to say that I am glad you are getting away with posting all the Anna Nicole Smith stuff. Those people from VA and O’Quinn continue their spiteful rant on all the other sites and are they just show how low class they really are (and there are a lot of unbelievable weirdo’s in that bunch.) I can see that Greta Van Susteran has gotten away from posting about ANS too. Everybody should just save their careers here and not lower themselves to these low lives. I think Nancy Grace will do the same on her return. This is really getting old.

Beautiful Article! So happy to hear the family is healthy and happy!
Maybe now with new, amazing motherly instincts to help, Nancy Grace can keep Virgie off Dannielynn and let her enjoy a peaceful life. We need someone in the mainstream media that is not afraid to take on O’Quinn/Virgie/Opri/Rita BS.
All of them are hurting Dannielynn and her future.

Dear Art,
While this was a good article on Nancy Grace, there is one person you never mentioned. And that is her husband, David. I’m sure she must’ve ended up loving him as much as she loved her late fiance, Keith. And she had to love him very much before she had her boy and girl twins. Because without him, she would not have gotten pregnant with those twins. Reading your article, someone might think that her twins materialed in her by way of the Immaculate Conception.
Because in reference to her personal life, you only mention Keith and the twins. We cannot forget that very inportant link between Grace and her babies-and that is their father.
I don’t want to sound like a wiseass, but without David, those babies would not be here as Lucy and John David. None
of us would be here without our fathers-including you!

I hope you aren’t getting away from all the Anna Nicole news as the last person posted. I find the Bahama news quite interesting. Wasn’t there something that Howard was to answer by December 24th? I can’t even remember if it was the case with Rita or O’Quinn but please let us know when you hear something. As for Nancy Grace, I’m glad she had her twins and all is well with she and her new family. I did get away from watching her for a time after she bashed Howard on her show but she hasn’t done that for awhile so I’m back watching her.
January 9th, 2008 at 9:45 am
Congrats to Nancy on the birth of her babies! I wish her well, but I still can’t stand her.
January 9th, 2008 at 10:39 am
Thanks Art for the news! Spoken with a true loving heart.
Glad your friend and her two bundles of joy are all in good health. She did have a close call there for a while, great to hear all are doing well now.

WOW! Isabel, I couldn’t agree more.
Maryst, have a great day we love ya!!
January 9th, 2008 at 11:40 am
Congratulations Nancy Grace on the safe birth on you twins,
and so glad you came thru alright.
January 9th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
Congratulations Nancy, beatiful babies! You were really blooming during your pregnancy.
If i remember correctly Nancy did say on one of her shows something in the lines of that she cannot understand how the adult female in the family can be held responsible if a child is sexually abused in the family. She was trying to defend Virgie when a caller said Virgie should have protected Anne. Old news now, I know, but I thought that was very irresponsible to say that.
We all want to move on, and I hope the new Nancy will be more responsible in her opinions in future.
January 9th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
The overwhelming changes associated with giving birth feel so monumental that one would love to hang onto it forever and actually believes that the world is a beautiful place. Unfortunately, reality sets in soon enough.
I am just speaking from experience and I do not expect Nancy Grace to shake off her caustic comments about Howard, unless, of course, she is served with “cease and desist” orders.
January 9th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
Art
Keep us informed about the Anne Nicole saga, you are our only chance of hearing the truth and nothing but the truth.
And believe me, reporting on the matter won’t end your career, and those who want you to believe that are those who actually want you to shut up so they can continue with their sick agenda in peace.
January 10th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Nancy….I just saw your interview on Larry King Live. Please allow your children to experience life as it occurs. I have to say….your view of the world is, in a single world, ill.
When you speak to God…or what you believe to be God…don’t forget to turn the light off in the bathroom.
January 11th, 2008 at 3:07 am
May these beatiful babies warm her heart. They are a gift.
January 13th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Art Harris,
I am happy for her,and for her husband.I use to listen to NG until she came in Anna Nicole case in Vergie`s favor!!!! That was it for me to her!!!!
I hope she will understand better with maternal fiber !!!!
January 15th, 2008 at 2:12 am
I still love Greta, too.
She is wise!!!!
January 15th, 2008 at 2:18 am
A smaller frame, is all.
No smaller brain.
You don’t have to have babies to be a woman.
You just have to have a…
never mind.
It’s just gender…and it really has nothin’ to do with being a good human being.
Wish their bosses knew ’size’ doesn’t matter.
January 17th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
After watching how Nancy and Greta went after HKS I don’t really care to watch their shows. They and their so called experts often got facts wrong and came as close as they could to legally calling him a killer.
January 20th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
Greta and Nancy wise??? In my opinion they acted real foolish for most of 2007….
January 27th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
I was wondering about Christie and David Paul?
Were they ‘twins,’ also?
