While Us magazine named Britney Spears the top Hollywood meltdown of 2007, beating out, Owen Wilson’s suicide attempt and Paris Hilton’s jailhouse rock, we don’t see Anna Nicole Smith anywhere on its top 10.
Does that mean the Ultimate Meltdown, an accidental overdose leading to a Dead Celebrity doesn’t count? Would Elvis have made it? Anna Nicole Smith still ranks among the top three to five celebs hunted via the web’s hottest search engines.
Britney may lose her kids, she may have to pay $13 million to K-Fed, she’s scheduled for another hearing in LA Superior Court Tuesday over her baaaaaad behaviour, but she’s still standing and has a new album out that flips off the Paparazzi….and has a shot, if she gets her act together, just might become the Hollywood Comeback Kid of 08…
But why not look at Anna Nicole Smith, whose life and death may be forever compared to her idol, Marylin Monroe, Annalyzed and reanalyzed as a reality check for other potential Meltdown Kids?
Whether it was the destiny of a Texas dream girl turned Playboy centerfold turned aging billionaire’s widow turned reality star…she was a mother in deep grief, struggling over the death of her son, Daniel, an apparent accidental overdose victim of methadone, and two anti depressants, according to the Bahamas chief forensic police expert at last week’s inquest.
Her life and death and how her life veereds out of control have spawned a swirl of lawsuits we’ve explored on this website, a fight between a father, Larry Birkhead, and grandmother, Virgie Arthur, over custody of her baby…and money…and the role her designated father, lawyer and companion, Howard K. Stern will play in Dannielynn’s future and the outcomes in court.
Still, in a land of lists, we don’t understand why she didn’t make the Top 10 here, unless its for those who meltdown… and live.

It’s Hollywood Meltdowns, which basically lists the years worst attention whores (with the exception of Owen Wilson)
Anna Nicole was not slumming it for attention like these peeps were.
The difference is ’self wanting’ and ‘unfortunate circunstance’. Annas death was not intentional. All the drama came after she died, and that was just oney grubbing trailer dwellers who should have stayed in Texas.

I don’t get what you are trying to get to…. Perhaps, maybe just perhaps, the media is starting to realize that Anna deserves some respect. She was a devastated, greiving mom. Maybe that is a notch or two away from Britney or Amy. Anna struggled with life and living after Daniels death. She didn’t suffer a meltdown she suffered the worse thing a mom could ever experience or get over.

Art Harris,I am taking a look over the internet about celebrity in 2007.Anna Nicole was the one who take the attention during at least one week of all the channels…around the world.
Not a lot of mention of her and what was happen maybe cause the controversy….Anyway she is one of the 100 top woman on ask men.com.
Now that I look at the alive beauty, I cannot see woman who are beauty like she was…

Giving respect to her and her child, maybe start by not mention of the fiasco Vergie made….
I hope Larry King will mention something on her,I hope the majority will start to see how this true woman went on…

I think Anna can skip that list. Her name has already made too many headlines.
I wonder whether there is any truth to K. Fed having been into drugs. If so, then he would be responsible for sharing that good fortune with Britney and now that she is completely out of control, he drags her to court over and over again until she does something that might be regretable.
If he got her hooked and then started cheating or whatever it is that broke the marriage, he should have quietly helped her out of the mess she is in.
Of course it was not smart to get mixed up with a guy involved with someone else; however, his not being married to the woman popping kids made it obvious the relationship was not important to him. She probably thought she was special and that the same would not happen to her.
I cannot forget a picture of Britney with her little son in her lap in some restaurant and with tears in her eyes. She was always alone. I believe the breakup drove her over the edge.

Keep in mind that this is the same magazine, that in the same issue asked readers “Who do you like more now, Howard K. Stern (0%) or Larry Birkhead (100%)” OH PLEASE. What crap! I seriously doubt that not ONE person said Howard! Either way, Howard, make sure you take a copy of this with you to court to show some proof of the damage done to your reputation by O’Q and Crew.
How US Weekly could put Cameron Diaz on there, for one little blow up, rather that iconic Anna Nicole Smith is anyone’s guess. But I’d say, bad reporting.
Britney Spears has about as much chance of being the Comeback Kid of ‘08 as O’Q has of puttin’ down the Scotch and sayin’ sorry to Howard!

That is surprising to me. ET has Anna as the number 1 story for the year and I have to agree. I followed Anna Nicole for a long time and no matter what anyone says she was an amazing person. She rose above and made something of herself and nobody can take that away. I remember when Dannielynn was born because it was a week after my daughter was born. When Anna died I cried because I look at my own kids and wonder what they would do if I wasn’t here. Anna did nothing that 1/2 of Hollywood doesn’t still do and some people tried, and still try, to make her look bad. The last year of her life was so rough for her and the final outcome was so unfortunate. You just have to be grateful that Howard and Larry both care enough about Anna and Dannielynn that they are working together to give her the life that Anna would want her to have.

Well I think the list is good ..I follow the Anna Nicole story bought and read Blond Ambition thought it was a good book..But it all comes down to a soap opera of sex, lies and video’s.. You never know who is telling the truth she was a druggie and Howard was her enabler..And Daniel only knew that life style..Her mother or anyone who trully loved her and didn’t agree with her and Howard, Were cut out of here life, So there you go they carried drugs to other countries, they scammed other governments and all in all just plain con there way through life end of story

I think enough negative things have already been said about Anna. She needs to be able to rest in peace without people steady ridiculing her. She will be able to rest in peace as soon as everyone gets off Howard’s back and he’s allowed to breathe. So to me, it’s ok to talk about the meltdown of the ones on the list if that’s what the public chooses to do, but just leave Anna alone. The only time they want to discuss anything pertaining to Anna is when it’s negative, so we can take a breather on this one. Happy trails to the 10 that made the list. At least they’re here to defend themselves!

I would guess Britney Spears says it all .The greatest melt down of all time without a death involved. Yes I think ANS was on to in not already in meltdown mode.,IMO if we had had bloggs ect when Elvis died,I mean like we do now ,almost everyoen has a PC you would have seen the same kind of blame pushed around about him that there has been about ANS. It was just not made so public as the ANS saga has been due to her Mother ,Oquinn,DO and RC among others.Why must we the public make things so had for these people.IMO they deserve some privacy.

Having Anna on a Top Ten Meltdowns of 2007 would have been crass. Anna DID NOT have a meltdown, she suffered a drug overdose and died. It’s TRAGIC.
If the list had been for top ten tragedies of the year or top ten searched celebrities of the year, sure, she would have been on that list, but putting her on a top tem meltdown list would have been in very bad taste and hurtful to DL, Howard and Larry.
I hope you’re joking when you say you think she should have made that list.

The ‘Headline’ is ‘Meltdown’…not “Melted.’
I’m sure Anna will capture many other ‘Headlines,’ just like she captured our hearts with the birth of her daughter…
Not even Marilyn did that (neither one).
Sure seems Howard is not, and never was a ‘Headliner,’ except when, as always, the mainstream television media talk show hosts tried to pull one over on us…just like when they reported James Brown was a drunk, and Anna was a clown and a drug addict.
Wonder how many prescriptions those news media talk show hosts are taking…or will take in their lifetime, and how much plastic surgery and dental whiteners, and retainers, and ‘procedures’ they have had done, and how much makeup it takes to make them really look good, and what they all looked like when they were kids, and which were born with those ’silver spoons’ and which ones ‘made it’ all by themselves, LOL.
Fortunate Sons…and Daughters, should really try to make this world a better place…
I even think tabloids, can recycle there trash!

IMO, it’s a good thing Anna didn’t make the list. It’s one less trash her daugher has to read when she gets older.
These magazines know what sales, and what sales are scandals, sex and screw up’s.
I don’t even like to put Britney and Anna in the same catagory. I mean I do in a way feel sorry for Britney, because she obviously needs some kind of help. And for them to attact her, calling her fat, when IMO she looks good for having two children. If I had two kids, I would probably swell up to a size of a house. But she does need to stop putting herself out there to be exposed and get her head on streight for her two children.

Mourning the loss of a child is hardly a meltdown. It is a normal reaction to an insufferable tragedy.

2.O’Quinn’s legal license is revoked on the grounds of conflict of interest, an he is disbarred
3.Jackie Hasbeenhatten, is taken to an institution on the grounds of mental instability when she is found posing on UTUBE naked saying she is the reincarnation of Anna Nicole Smith and people vote it as the funniest video of the year.
4.Larry Birkhead realizes suddenly one day Danni Lynn will find out why her mother ran away from him an worries that she will too

7. Nancy Grace wakes up one morning to find her voice gone and can never talk ever again, ah silence is golden
8.Thompson and the Shelly boys are in jail for contempt of court, as they come down for a Bahamas vacation to get away from it all
9.Debra Opri’s office is raided and they find countless needles of Botox and her lips explode causing her to seek the services of the same doctor who killed Kanye West’s Mom.

Beverly, I agree so much with your post.
Michelle says Larry and Howard are both working to give Dannielynn the kind of life Anna would want for her, but I just hope that Larry doesn’t go overboard and give her everything and not instill the value of things in her. I’m so afraid she will have everything handed to her all her life and will end up like Pairs Hilton and some of the others you see in the news all the time.
I hope he raises her right, by teaching her values and manners. It seems like too many parents are not teaching their kids any manners these days.
My youngest son had started to date a girl when he was in high school and he told me that her mother couldn’t get over how polite and courteous he was. She said the other boys her daughter dated weren’t like that. He had come home one evening and said “do you remember how you were always telling us to say thank you and to be polite” and I said yes and he said well it paid off”. Then he told me about what the girl’s mother had said to him. I thought, gee, this girl must have dated some real jerks, lol.
So I just wish every parent would teach their kids to be nice and polite and kind. We will all benefit from that. And to work for things, rather than have everything given to them, so that that is all they ever expect from anyone.
My one sister has a granddaughter and she and the little girl’s parents are spoiling her so badly and acting like she is a real princess and I know this is all going to go badly at some point in her life. She is always pouting because nothing suits her and they bend over backwards trying to please her and give her everything she wants. I’ve never seen this little girl laugh or smile. She is only six years old and I really do fear for her in the long run. She is always going to expect anyone in her life to just give her all that she wants. She’s never going to know the value of anything herself.
So please Larry, teach this dear little girl of yours the right things. Please don’t let her grow up to be another Paris Hilton or some of these other spoiled, brats who keep getting into trouble and don’t seem to know which end is up.

JONI, I agree with you 100% on teaching the children to be polite, and not giving in to their every needs.
More then anything, now a days, it seems as if the child is the one in control of the parents. When I see a parent give in to their child, when their acting out in public, I want to go up to them and say, “who is the parent..you are your child.” Or what really gets me going is when the parents have to bribe the child to behave. “If you act good, then you’ll get a surpise.”
You wouldnt’ have to bribe your child to behave, if you taught them to have good manners, and not give in to their every needs. I think the number one mistakes parents make is, giving their children everything that they didn’t have as a child. But what they don’t realize is, when you yourself was a child, when you did get a toy, you cherished it and took care of it. And now these kids that get everything they want, they don’t take care of their toys, they break them within minutes of having it, and they think to themselves, “oh well, mommy or daddy will just get me a new one.”
But I do hope that Dannielynn has a better childhood then what Anna had, but of course teach her morals and treat others as she would want to be treated.

Of course Anna should of been on the list, but is anything as it should be in this sad saga?? I think for alot of us she will be in our top 10 so who cares what the rag mags say???
I think by reading some of the comments the whole world has gone to hell in a hand basket and I don’t think there are too many role models left in Hollywood.
Everyone has different opinions, but for the comment of having Brad Pitt as a role Model?? HUH? this is a man who left his marraige and had another woman and 2 kids all in about a year. Yea I know he denies having an affair but come on now how did all this take place so fast when he was just leaving 1 marraige and with in months he’s got a couple of kid’s and a new woman and then a couple of more kid’s and no marraige????
I don’t care who you are or how much money you have, to have that many kid’s in a new relationship is just blane crazy, my gosh he didn’t even have time to Divorce before the kid’s starting comming, where is the respect in that?? I would hope that nobody looks to hollywood for a role model.
People can say what they wany about Anna, but at least she was a little more honest with her fans ( most of the time) and told it like it was.
She will always be in my thoughts and prayers as will Howard and Dannylynn.

Joni…..wonderful words of wisdom. Mature parents with experience usually have the right answers - trouble is the younger parents never bother to ask the questions. I never did. I raised my only child alone, a beautiful blond, blue eyed daughter with an impressive IQ. Divorced when she was 4. I gave her everything - trying (I think) to make up to her for being from a “broken home”. She had a full length mink coat in 12th. grade, a new red sports car, summers in Mexico, trips to Europe, etc. I gave her nice “things” that she did not need but even worse I taught her that she was prettier, smarter and better than anyone on the face of this earth. I went so far as to teach, and tell her, that at all 4 way stops in life it was ALWAYS her turn!!! I guess I thought she was just too good to work. I was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! Life for her was and is a struggle and I watched her suffer because of how “good” I was to her. She suffers from an eating disorder. She was, and is, kind, polite and popular BUT she was never, and is not, happy. She has such a low self-esteem and I did that to her. Those years and moments of joy felt from giving “things” and feeling too much pride that one has created this “perfect” person can do so much damage. I wish your family would listen to some advice from you.

I agree, it was really more of the type of events that Anna was part of that excluded her from the list. The birth of her daughter, the death of her son and then later her own death were the big news stories, none of which could be classified as a “meltdown.” Now, was she a bigger story than these others? I think that is definitely true, following her death you couldn’t turn on a news channel without Anna coverage, so much so that SNL did a skit about it. So I think that overall she was a bigger story, but not necessarily a “meltdown.”

Anne: Thank you for sharing that with us. You only did what you thought was right at the time. I haven’t given my sister any advice, because I know she would resent it and just get angry at me if I even said boo. But I really do fear for what this pretty little girl will turn out to be as she gets older, just by knowing what she is like at only six.
I grew up dirt poor, but my mother had alot of class and she raised us well. I shudder to think what our lives would have been like, if it hadn’t been for our mother. I thank God she wasn’t like Virgie. She made all our clothes and did wonders on so little. We were happy with what little we had and as Jolie said, you valued and took care of what you got. You treasured every little thing and every little thing meant so much more than a whole lot of things ever could. We had so much more in the long run than alot of other people have. We were blessed to have had the mother we had. Sorry I can’t say the same about my dad.
I think Dannielynn is such a beautiful little child and I pray that someday I can have a grandchild, like her. I pray that she will grow up to be a healthy and normal child. She is so pleasant and always has a beautiful smile on her dear little face. I hope she stays that way.
It’s so disturbing to see my grandniece always seeming so unhappy because nothing pleases her and yet she has everything. I hope anyone that sees our posts, can learn something from them and take heed.

She was like I said many time, in some way more beautiful then M.M.
Look at the photos, picture of her, take a good attention at what she was. Loving mother, sincere woman who date Marshall for years before accept marring him.
True friend and compagne for Howard K Stern.
Top model, Guess model and more more. Howard AND lARRY CAN SHOW US. If they have a chance to prove us how wonderful woman she was.
If her jealous mother can go to texas for ever with all her Team maybe ,maybe after that we can start to make Anna Nicole Smith a real star as she deserve. After all the stupidity who was made on her! Jealousy make the plls do and say some stupidity .Anna Nicole was suffering. I watched a little CNN today…
There was a little blonde with little boobs that thought, or said, Anna Nicole was bigger…I mean a bigger story than Iraq in 2007, how amazing…wonder why….
Maybe because CNN made her the bigger story in their effort to entertain us with their talk shows and compete FOR THOSE BIG ONES with all the other networks???

VICKI LYNN (whatever her last name was), was absolutely stunning, even though she had been artificially enhanced, she could have gone farther WITHOUT THOSE, and WITHOUT THOSE MEN, and THAT AIRBRUSHING, and MAYBE EVEN…WITHOUT HER VERY, OWN MOTHER, and AUNTS, and MARSHALL, that did that to her.
She didn’t need to be a bully, and wonder if ‘That’ was true, or if she was play acting???
That ‘part’ or ‘role’ I did not like…and it was totally uncalled for if she did give her best friend a black eye.
I bet, Anna’s Art…will be worth millions someday…

Guess Howard took videos of her painting those pictures, since he took videos of everything else.

like to know if the law is going to go after him. He’s 19 and she’s 16 isn’t that against the law? The sent a 18 yr old to prison for 10 yrs for oral sex with a 17 yr ols. Is there a different standard for rich people?

Anna would hardly be considered a ‘meltdown’. She was privately grieving the death of a child and many other personal problems (Larry, Horizons, etc). She was avoiding the media, this is why she didn’t want to go to the hospital when she was ill….she wanted to AVOID the media not ‘meltdown’ in public. Daniel’s passing was tragic and she handled it as well as she could and AWAY from the media.
IMO, she handled the tragedy very well despite the amount of meds she took. I can’t say the same wouldn’t happen to me under the circumstances.
All of those on the Top 10 could have avoided the media and wouldn’t have made that list either. It was their choice to be there….and Anna chose not to be.

Oh, Gidget, do justice to your name and be nice. I do not believe that a doctor is solely responsible for what happens to people who injest their own medication (as opposed to being force fed).
Anyone who is not happy with his/her doctor is free to change doctors. If you think she was over-medicated against her will, ask yourself why she did not change doctors. What she did was her choice and when she realized she had made a mistake, she tried to correct it and I am referring to her moving away from the area where she was being harassed by Dannielynn’s father. Unfortunately, she was stalked to death.
I don’t know whether K-Fed is fully responsible for Britney’s destruction. I did, however, notice that while they were married there were plenty of pictures of Britney and the baby and then babies but never of the four of them together. That was very peculiar and very telling. Why was he not with them? Like the time she slipped and nearly fell while holding her son. Why was she with tears in her eyes while sitting in a restaurant with her son sitting on her lap and no Kevin in sight?
Wooing Britney was all fine and dandy while involved with the mother of his first set of children, but once married to Britney he seemed to drop out of sight. That is not excusable. From my own experience, my ex was never around and after divorce never contributed to the children’s upbringing in any way, shape or form; therefore, when a spouse is a no-show, to me it is all I need to know to declare that person to be NOT a model human.
Howard K. Stern, on the other hand, was always by Anna’s side, devoted his life to her and surely suffered an aching heart while she dated others, yet never gave up and after death, Howard continues to be loyal and loving to Anna. Howard has got to be one in a million and Anna finally realized how lucky she was to have him.
Anna was an adult who did as she pleased, when she pleased and I do not accept the baloney that she was force fed drugs. Far from being a shy violet, Anna was tough and an exhibitionist. Those who believe that she was controlled by Howard, have their own fantasy problems.
To answer your last question, all I know is that I am from planet Earth. Geography is not my forte.

Beverly #35, Are you for real? I was born in 1943, my father was a successful businessman who loved to beat my mother and belittle my 2 sisters and I physically and mentally, and he molested all three of us on more than one occasion. He also treated us and my mother like we were prostitutes. So really, what do you know? I say Anna was exploited and is still being exploited for money by not only HKS and LB because they want the good life handed to them, they obviously do not care how they get it as long as they get it and don’t have to work for it. Bring her and Daniel back to the states where they belong and the perpetrators punished.

Since Britney’s parents allowed the relationship with her boyfriend, and obviously sanctioned it, why go after the boyfriend? At 14 she was a minor and her parents were responsible for her behavior and from what I have read, they “love” the guy. In my book, the case is closed.

Gidget if you for real went thru what you say you would have believed wha ANS said about Va when she said it on her interview with Mark S> you could just see the hurt from what her mother had done and said bursting out.IMO she finially just let it all blow out all that she haed been holding back for years.I know what it is to hold thing back and not be able or want to tell others.I think Anna just had enough.IMO VA is the one trying to get control of Dannielynn if only for one last time to let Anna know Va had the last laugh and would get her child ,which Anna said she would never do.Anna did not want her mother to touch her daughter and there was a good reason,as we have seen, for that. As you have seen Anna was not force fed nor was Daniel force fed and drugs as much as you may like to think.IMO it is no HKS nor LB who are behind things it is team stupid and it is all comming out so we can all see the truth.

Thank goodness I do not live by your standards and thank goodness we have laws about people (Dr.’s) who think they can push drugs. I believe they started getting very serious concerning those laws about the time Evis died. Mr. Stern forgot he could not make another Marilyn Monroe or Elvis through Anna and if anything he needs to get off his make believe cloud and face the real ramifications of what he has allowed himself to do or become for the sake of money that does not belong to him or his family and stop trying to use that baby to further the mess he has helped make.

When we comment on someone else’s comment, it is not always helpful to mention the paragraph # because if someone else posted right after the last post but before Mr. Harris “moderated” it, it will print according to the time of the original message and thus change the current paragraph number. I don’t think Anna should have made any “meltdown” list. She was a human grieving a horrible loss,she was trying to be a survivor,she was trying to feel ok again. Unfortunatly that never happened. I seen a recap on ABC about deaths of 2007 and of all of them her pictures and smile broke my heart. Of course that is just me because I just loved her. It was hard to see her beautiful face along with that sad music and have it hit me in the stomach again. She should have made a “trooper” list for what she has endured and overcame and kept on going no matter how imperfectly she may have done it,she did it and god simply called her home…too soon of course in our eyes..I just know she is so happy now and it had to be this way no matter how much it hurts. She was a great human and I am glad she was not on the list I think the list would have done injustice to what was reallly going on inside her soul…even the word “meltdown” does not work for what happen to Anna in life and death.

I feel so sorry for Britney. Whatever problem she had, it has been compounded many times over by the additional pressures that keep piling up.
She is not to blame for running over the foot of those people stalking her. Her car was surrounded on every side and she was still expected to drive safely. Who could?
I thought she had a bodyguard, but from the looks of everything that has happened, nobody is guarding her. She is brave and somewhat foolish for driving herself around.

If you go to TMZ, which only upsets me. You’ll notice they are trying to destroy Britney now. All they can do is take someones life and destroy it. She looks very happy finally with her pap boyfriend and it does seem that he is able to elude the paps. She has not been splashed all over certain entertainment sites. They did show her in what they say was her wedding dress or something to that effect. I really doubt that. Even if she did it doesn’t matter
for the public to know this information. She is an amazing talent and I really don’t want her to stop making albums.The comments on the board about Howard or Britney are horrible. I just don’t know how so much hate can be spewed. I think some posters just post over and over again with different names. I tried to make a positive comment about Britney and they didn’t publish it. I wish you had more time Art to write more articules, I love your style. You are not judgemental or nasty.Keep up the good work. May hope follow those that have become blasted on TMZ.

After hearing TV news comments on Brtiney current behavior, here are my 2 cents:
This is a sad and dangerous time for Britney. She is not a “wacko”. She is ill and needs compassion. As I am very familiar with mental illness, I know she is in desperate need of help, which unfortunately, she will not accept until there is an unfortunate incident that forces her to be hospitalized against her will.
This is the age when a long-standing problem blooms into a full-fledged horrible mental illness and it sure is not temporary. The stress, trials and tribulations of being out of work and having those children snatched from her, were sufficient cause to bring Brtiney to this current situation. Britney needs compassion and understanding. I certainly hope the guy she is hanging around with has some compassion and is not in this just so he can write a book on her.
Let’s be kind to her. Many people have had to suffer as a result of a loved one’s losing touch with reality. It is an unforgiving illness, and anyone who does not recognize it, deserve to suffer from it themselves.
