Exclusive: Anna Nicole A$$et$ in Bahamas! Million$ in Real Estate, Cash for Dannielyn? Executor Howard K. Stern Still Adding It All Up; Will Account for “Every Penny” — HKS Lawyers

Did Anna Nicole Smith really die a poor little rich girl? Hardly.
With controversy swirling about the sultry centerfold’s net worth at the time of death, I can report exclusively that the bulk of Anna Nicole Smith’s assets resides in the Bahamas — an estimated $2 million worth of cash in bank accounts, diamonds and other jewels in safety deposit boxes, along with two homes there, including Horizons, which has appreciated dramatically in value since she agreed to buy it last year for $950,000 from a South Carolina developer.
Sources familiar with the estate tell me Horizons will be listed as a major asset, along with a “high six figure bank account” flush with photo shoot fees from outfits like People magazine, when lawyers open a second probate action in the Bahamas in the coming weeks.
So why the intitial hue and cry she died a pauper by Hollywood star standards, with a paltry net worth of $710,000 in real estate in Los Angeles and $10,000 in cash, as listed in the California probate filing? “It was a big misunderstanding,” says Anna’s probate attorney Bruce Ross, who tried to clear it up on Larry King Live Wednesday night with a bit of Probate 101.
“What’s listed in that petition,” he told me today, “is just preliminary…a rough estimate….” Under new California probate law, an estimated value must be declared on an estate, before a will can be filed and assets determined. That’s how the estate filing fee is set. Nothing nefarious about it, he says. Yet, many Anna watchers rushed to judgement Monday, assuming some evil asset shell game orchestrated by the media-demonized “Svengali,” while friends say Stern has been simply coping with a deep well of personal grief he rarely shows, staying focused on playing asset guard dog for Dannielynn, and carrying out a mother’s wishes to keep Virgie at bay.
As for the assets, “did everyone suddenly forget Anna and Howard moved to the Bahamas last year?” asks Ross.
Not only moved, but moved bank accounts, bought one house, then built another, and plopped down about $140,000 for the yacht, now docked in the Bahamas, sources tell me. So, with assets parked in two places, probate must be filed in both; as designated executor, Stern has the responsiblity to tally it all up for sole surviving heir, Dannielynn, says Ross. And just how much might the tally be?
Well now, take Horizons…Ford Shelley, a Myrtle Beach, S.C. wheeler dealer who claims a close friendship with Smith (despite alleged thefts of videotapes and computers) figures Horizons might fetch $10 million, soaring in value merely because the dead celebrity lived there before dying of an accidental overdose.
In fact, $10 million is the price Shelley puts on it, according to a May interview in an online real estate magazine– brazenly claiming he owns it, despite a legal dispute still raging over who has actual title to the property — his father in law, developer G. Ben Thompson, a convicted drug smuggler…or Anna’s estate.
So, despite Ford talk show yapping that Stern’s a squatter, Howard’s still living there and he’s not…and Stern appears to be the legal frontrunner, according to tea leaves recently brewed by a Bahamian judge. This went without notice, but on May 7 in the Bahamas, my sources in court tell me her Ladyship, Justice Allen, had enough doubts about Thompson’s claim to Horizons that she issued an order demanding GBT cough up $100,000 as a cash bond by May 28, if he aims to pursue what she might be wondering is a frivolous lawsuit. The cash would got to court costs and Anna’s estate if he loses.

As for probate, more than three months after the centerfold died, her companion and attorney Howard K. Stern, 38, named as the will’s executor, Monday filed her will with a Los Angeles court. The documents request the court affirm his role. According to the papers, her total assets are worth $710,000 plus a $10,000 bank account.
But sources tell me her California bottom line leaves out substantial assets Stern will detail when he files for ancillary probate, as it’s called, in the Bahamas, where Anna Nicole claimed residency. Critics on Fox News’ Greta Van Sustern and CNN’s Nancy Grace Tuesday night accused Stern of downright thievery and conniving. But no one I heard mentioned that a Bahamas Court suggested the will first be filed in California, then the Bahamas, where she’d moved most of her assets.
Anna’s estate probate attorney, Bruce Ross, tells me it’s also logical to file first in California since that’s where Anna battled to collect on an $88 million ruling in her favor from the estate of her late husband, Howard Marshall; her eventual share could be far more if she wins. Stern has been named administrator to pursue the Marshal case for the estate as well, a case he’s been quarterbacking since 1996.
“It’s common to open probate in several places when someone dies owning assets in more than one place,” says Ross. Let’s take a look…
Remember the yacht Stern was out buying when he got the call Anna was unconscious at the Hardrock Hotel? Sources tell me that will show up on the list of property she owns in the Bahamas probate case–along with a giant six carat diamond ring Anna was wearing when she died, a pair of three carat diamond earrings and $10,000 in cash–seized by Seminole police investigators when they searched and inventoried the suite where she died. But police will give up the bling to Stern, when he becomes the official executor, then tallied with Bahamas assets. A probate hearing is set in Los Angeles June 19 to affirm him, then the Anna Nicole probate road show moves to the Bahamas.
Meanwhile, Stern hunkers down at Horizons, where he’s marshaling legal forces for a major counterattack against accusers, defamers and others, while allying with Larry Birkhead, Dannielynn’s father, to fight off possible claims from Virgie Arthur who’s angling for custody and a piece of the action. Birkhead has asked to be named guardian of Dannielynn’s estate.
While Stern could collect standard fees as executor, he’s waived them, astounding talk show critics like ex-prosecutor Jeneane Piro (who accused him of plotting kickback deals with unnamed future money managers.)
“Ridiculous and defamatory!” says Ross, adding that if a Marshal estate payday happens, a large institution, like Bank of America or Wachovia, would likely manage it on behalf of Dannielynn, calling any hint respected banks or Stern would double deal “outrageous.” Right now, it’s a pipe dream, since BIG money will only happen if her estate wins –or settles the lawsuit against Marshal’s family–that could yield a half billion dollars.
Anna Nicole, Stern and their lawyers met not long ago with attorneys for the Marshal estate in a San Francisco court–ordered mediation before she died, but both sides are far apart, my sources tell me, and despite rumors of secret talks, even a deal, there have been none.
As for Stern’s reward, it could still come from investing years of sweat equity crafting and fighing that legal battle for Smith, in a the form of a contingency fee of six per cent. He’d hardly need chump change in probate fees if he one day collects as much as $30 million on a half billion dollar estate settlement.

“Realistically, her largest two assets will come from the Marshal litigation, and the marketing of her name and likeness,” an Anna insider tells me. With the celebrity’s dream to one day be considered her generation’s Marylin Monroe, marketing her memory could one day yield a fortune for Dannielynn.
“Anna would want Dannielynn to have the best of everything,” a family member told me today. “Bodyguards to protect her, the best schools, nannies, a mansion to live in.”
That will take money, and lots of it, and Stern has told friends he has only one mission left in life, now that the love of his life—and former client—is gone: To make sure Anna’s name and likeness is preserved and managed well, creating a legacy of memories for her daughter, and fans, and further building the estate to care for the baby Anna wanted so badly, before plunging into the depths of despair over the accidental overdose of her son.
“She’d want Dannielynn to live the lavish lifestyle she dreamed she’d live one day,” just like Marylin, confides a confidant. “That’s what Howard is trying to make happen. That’s what keeps him going.”

Well Art, you did it again. I have waited all day for you to have the info on this new turn of events concerning Anna Nicole. Once again you didn’t diappointment us. With all that is already being said by Fox, Cnn just last night about how Howard has taken all of Anna assets, has them hidden away, Art this is really the best news for me in a long time. Howard not being the dad was the worst. Howard’s the Uncle any little girl could want in my books. You have made me one happy lady Art. Only wish that Howard knew me and so many others that I just know feel his pain and his devotion to one lucky little girl to have Howard watching over her.
We are out there upholding Anna’s name when we can.

Thank God for Howard and L. Woods. I have been outraged by the way the media handled the Anna and Howard issues until Woods came into the picture.
As a result, I witnessed people threatening to kill Howard on TMZ. Moreover, someone threatened to have a bullet for me and Howard when I blogged there in defense of Howard. I was cut off from e mailing Greta or Nancy Grace and now my posts are not going through on TMZ. Is that fair?
Currently there are 365 articles shown on google regarding Anna’s will, Howard and Larry’s, and they are all screwed up and misleading.
I got so sick watching Nancy Grace last night People on TMZ are going wild as usual and Greta and her panel didn’t do anything but stir the pot the night before and people immediately started adding “thief” to Howard’s name.
What people should be calling , writing and blogging about is demanding fair, accurate and balanced reporting. Howard and Anna are SAINT’S compared to the media. No wonder poor Anna refused to go to the hospital.
You would think people would be glad Larry and Howard are working for the best interest of Dannielynn, but many, many people have been too poisoned by the media.
Art Harris or Maria Shriver should be given a job like Larry King so that we can have someone to clearly explain things like this with good journalism. Maria announced yesterday she quit “news” after the way the MEDIA handled the Anna Nicole frenzy. She deserves an award! Currently there is 24 articles on this which are also somewhat misleading.
People seem to think because people are attorney’s like Greta, Nancy Grace and Court TV people, they are being fed the facts, when in reality it is ENTERTAINMENT at it’s worse!

I wonder if Nancy Grace or Greta will have anything to say about this? They were quick to accuse Howard of wrong doing regarding the will. But of course, they’re quick to accuse Howard of wrong doing in everything.
Or Pat Brown, that scary looking woman who said horrible things about Howard on Nancy’s show. She’s a piece of work. I’d love it if she was sued.

Knowing you have been fair and direct and more importantly FACTUAL has been a breath of fresh air during all the tragic events that have befallen the loved ones of Anna Nichol Smith.
To see that you have not been biten by the lynching media bug brings a smile upon many faces!

I think it’s so awful and hurtful the way Greta and Nancy Grace put their spin on things concerning Howard.Greta with her twisted mouth is utterly hateful. I mean, the media hears one thing and takes it away with spin, spin and more spin. I can’t understand it at all. They should know by now that Howard is not stupid, I don’t care how short is track record as a lawyer is, according to Greta. I think he’s smarter than she’ll ever be and she can take that to the bank!

Yes, it’s good to see that Howard K Stern does have believers, well-wishers, and fair-minded investigators on his side.
Now I expect to see/hear Greta Van Susteren and Nancy Grace retract their vicious comments about him. If not, Howard should demand a public apology from them. (Sue to them, too!) They have got to be held responsible for their outrageous conduct. It does not help their credibility, but of course that’s their and their sponsor’s problem to deal with, but most importantly, it grieveously harms a good man, an intelligent, well-educated, professional person who is a loyal friend to the end, and is trying his best to uphold Anna Nicole’s wishes.

I think when all details come out concerning Anna’s assets, somebody is going to have to eat crow. They have accused Howard of everything in the world that is nasty. But, that’s ok. He just needs to continue to walk the walk, let his attorneys talk the talk, and take care of his business at hand. His path has already been cleared by God. All he has to do is have faith.

. I felt the hostility and disdain, I was challenged and that just made me smile. It made me realize that everything directed towards Howard was everything negative. Hatred, a lack of knowledge which is rooted in ignorance and blindness, preventing them to see anything but. I felt proud to speak. Call me crazy, but from day one, I have felt nothing but compassion towards this gentleman. I am not apologizing, I do not see or feel what the critics try to portray. Despite all that circulated I weighed it all and saw something different. I believe in my heart of heart that I am right. I pray that he will continue to be strong and disregard the negative public eye and there irresponsible statements. I have learned that you do not live for people. You damned if you do and damned if you don’t. He will never please everyone. There will always be something said. What he should continue to do, is make liars out of them all. Keep striving to be the upstanding gentleman I see , full of compassion,loyalty, devotion to the things and people he holds dear and a great spirit of servanthood. Many others do not see it that way. That is what sets him apart from the all the rest. His entire family should feel extremely proud that he faced adversity and still excelled. I’m sure this too will generate some disagreements, nevertheless I know life and death is in the power of the tongue. I do not allow people or opinions to determine my life’s path. I am writing to say that no one once, talked about how Anna wanted nothing to do with Birkhead or her mom, sober or not, she gave Howard legal rights over her stuff willingly. I want Howard and Linwood to put a SOCK in Nancy’s moutn, for stirring Hatred over an innocent person.

I can not understand how shows like Greta and Nancy still have viewers, they have lost all credibility. I personally stopped watching the day their attacks against Howard started. These are smart women who for some reason choose not to look at the facts, attorneys…I really do not understand them. They have taken journalism to a whole new low.

How very refreshing to hear the bare-bones truth finally being heard. A small voice in the wilderness of hoopla, accusation, name calling, fiction reported as fact, speculation, and just plain slander and libel aimed at Howard K Stern. I have referred to it as his trial and conviction by hysterical media talking heads.

Well sorry i’m not buying this poor little rich girl theory, if Anna owned the Horizon’s home then why couldn’t she produce the necessary papers to put this to rest. I just know sooner or later we’ll know the truth and until then everyone needs to stop guessing as to what Anna is worth. Oh yes, i’m not joining this Howard Stern lovefest, because of him little Dannielynn was kept from her father, Larry, for almost 8 months while Stern played that paternity game.

Trouble uploading Judge Allen’s order, but asking my IT gurus to do it in the am…It’s stamped Supreme Court Registry May 15, 2007 and dated 7 May…Until you see the hard copy, it says, “This court doth order that The Plaintiff (Thompson) provide security for costs in the amount of $100,000, the said sum to be paid in cash into court within 21 days of the dcate herof…”

Anna trusted Howard to take care of the ONE thing she loved most in the whole world, her Daniel. She not only left the at that time, minor Daniel to Howard to raise, but she trusted Howard with all her worldly goods to be put in trust and protected for Daniel. Read it, it is in her will.
Anna, having that much faith and trust in Howard, to leave Daniel, and any money that Daniel would inherit soley to Howard Stern, WHY……would she not have done the exact same thing for her baby girl! She would have. She did have a Commentment Ceremony to Howard, further fullfilling their love and trust to each other. She also named Howard as the babies Father, I call that T-R-U-S-T!
Howard deserves a break, I hope he get’s one soon. He has lost so much. The woman he has loved for nearly 10 years, the boy he watched and was always there for grow into a young man, and even followed that young man to his grave.
He was in the delivery room when Dannielynn was born, signed her birth certificate, and settled in with Anna to raise her. He had to give her up too, and that must have been so hard! But, Howard did it with the grace of the gentleman that he has proven that he is. Be happy Howard. God Bless.

It is quite interesting that even the Bahama courts see the mirky waters surrounding GBT. I have little doubt that there is proof amongst anna’s remaining paperwork that will show without a shadow of a doubt the house is legitimately hers.
The fact that her house was broken into and robbed (even with an existing court order stating these ppl were not permitted on the property) few hours after her death by the same shady ppl that are steaking claim into Horizons, the fact that the computers and harddrives they stole have been proven to have been copied and many have seen some private material being splattered across the media highways .. I noticed one comment that has been permitted here and find myself somewhat insulted. At no time has Art’s site ever been deemed a “lovefest” site, nor has any of his articles ever been directed in a “lovefest” manner. This poster may have been referring to those that have posted upon this site as being apart of a “lovefest” for a man that has been unjustly accused and torn apart for not bowing to the medias demands … If acknowledging another human being during a time of grief is considered a “lovefest” or if being disgusted with the motives of those who have spoken ill words of a grieving person is deemed as a “lovefest” I beg this poster to grab a Websters and ensure their term is indeed what they want to be using.

In reference to the will being probated in the Bahamas, Greta knew this. Pro Pinder, GBT’s attorney told her this one night on one of her shows that the judge in the Bahams had said that the will needed to be probated in California and she would seal it in the Bahamas. Pro Pinder was saying that by the time all of this happened, the lawsuit would be over and the house would be back in the possession of GBT. Greta is such a snake. She will get her just dues eventually, and it won’t be pretty. She seems to have this unwavering hatred for Howard. I wonder why?

Donna G is bent. Howard didn’t keep Larry from Dannielynn for all those months. That case was Larry Birkhead vs. Vicky Lynn Marshall. How does she know what the papers about the Horizon says? I haven’t seen them and neither has she. We need to know the facts before we start spewing venom. Get a Life!

Finally, a good investigative journalist! Jane Devon asked what had happened to all of them and you are the only one who has asked the hard questions and come up with the facts.
It was so good to see you on Showbiz Tonight last night NOT perpetuating the rumors, innuendos, biased and false reporting that we have seen on Nancy Grace and Greta. I hope that Nancy has you on to inform the public of the truth but it may interfere with her pillorying of Howard K. Stern’s character and motives. I have no idea why she even bothers to have guests – she doesn’t listen to anyone that doesn’t agree with her opinion.
I was a fan when you were with CNN and I was so glad to discover your site a couple of months ago. It’s nice to have one reporter that reports the facts.

Thank you Art for the investigative reporting. I have stopped watching Grace and Sustern as I found their portrayal of the facts geared toward personal destruction for purposes of entertainment. Have felt the attacks against Stern were Anti-Semitic in references to his physical appearance and personality traits and surprised that no one has ever brought this out in the open. The TMZ site was particularly full of ethnic slurs.
Will be interesting to see how the talking heads handle it if Stern is exonerated from all accusations. It appears to me that he was simply besotted with ANS and she was fortunate to have him in her life. So far, everything he has stated has been proven true. Guess time will tell.

Concerning the Horizon House in the Bahamas … whether or not you like Stern or Thompson, Anna either paid for the house or she did not. If her estate can prove payment, it seems a simple matter to me. If no documentation of payment exists, I don’t understand the issue. There must be a title with someone’s name on it … case closed.

Forgive me for not understanding the comment “joining this Howard Stern lovefest”
Where have you been the past three months?
It has not been a lovefest for this man …….in short it has been more like a “hatefest”
You along with many ….eg….lawyers, entertainment shows, bias commentators on news channels especially FOX NEWS and gossip websites …..are just a drop in the bucket….. I could go on and on with all of hatred and lies that have been said and written about a man that only had love and compassion for the people in his life that he lost so tragically. So when I read and hear nonscense like joining the Howard Stern lovefest I have to ask myself are there people out there that are ignorant enough to still believe all of this that was so recklessly thrown his way.
I wish all of you that have demeaned Howard Stern from the beginning will give him the privacy to move on with his life, but especially the peace and dignity that he so deserves!

I guess there is a title with someone’s name on it! It must not be GBT. If someone moved into my house with an agreement to buy and failed to live up to the agreement, you can bet I could and would have them evicted. There is more to this than meets the eye. I’ve heard that papers were in Anna’s name and when she died, GBT had them changed to his name. If this is true, that is bull. It should be illegal to do that. We’ll soon see.

Great reporting, Art. What a breath of fresh air after all the vile Greta and Nancy Grace hate programming. These two witches really hate Howard K. Stern, seems they have spun themselves into a corner and don’t know how to get out. Maybe you can help them towards the light, Art. After all, it only takes reporting of the FACTS to gain credibility. But maybe that is beyond the realm of gossip mongers and rumor mongering.
I watched Nancy’s show tonight and saw her sighing in disappointment, her envy for the ‘palatial’ Horizons and the ’squatter’ with his gardening bills and pool care listing. What was she reading from anyway?? I know she had something printed out from the internet.
Gloria Alred never agreed with Nancy–nobody did. Where’s all her yes men?

Lee: You could’t have written my thoughts any better,if I had been dictatingto you. I have never been involved in any thing like this before. I could not believe the information that I was recieving by so called news programs. I couldn’t believe that I had more acurate information by doing a little on line research and talking to a pharmacist. ART. it feels so good to think that someone wants to report news without grand standing. I find the writing done in a way that leaves me wanting more. Thank you again, keep up the good work.

Mr. Harris: I noticed you on the Nancy Grace Show as one of the few who displayed dignity, grace, intelligence and so much more within your responses to questions or comments. The stress I was feeling regarding how Mr. Howard K. Stern was bashed, kicked, smeared, on and on …..was lightened when I heard your calming, thoughtful, knowledgeble and professional voice, mannner and thoughts. As so many have said…and I repeat…. thank you for your work. I have developed a deep respect for Howard K Stern and everything about him reflects real love for Anna and her children. It appears that when so many changes occured over the years in Anna’s life, as happens in life, two people remained constant and were the two people she loved most – Daniel and Howard. Keep up the good work where you report the facts and respect the truth as our Channel 3 newsteam in Ohio does. Thank you.

An addendum to my earlier comment above: It should be understood that Anna loved and adored her daughter Dannielyn as she did Daniel and Howard. Dannielyn is a lucky person to have Howard K Stern in her life as Anna and Daniel did. I can only believe that when Anna thought about how fortunate she was in this life, she thought of all three of them. I must finally add, that my heart goes out to Anna as she appeared to be the survivor of a dysfunctional family and suffered from abuse and sexual assault per her comments. She is a textbook case of such circumstances in the way she lead many aspects of her life and had the need for prescriptions drugs to fight the depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder I believe she suffered from, beginning at a very young age. Like too many people under like circumstances …they do not want to die, they just have a difficult time trying to live and she fought very hard to live, not just survive. I will always cry when I hear of such circumstances in the life of any individual who has endured trauma.

Art, first I would like to thank you for your articulate journalism. I find your articles based on the true facts in everything that you write. In a media circus society, this is quite an attribute and definitely something that seems to be fading out before our very eyes.
Although I do very much respect my/our country, USA. I sometimes catch myself wondering if we are too verbally free for all our own good. I have to stop and think for a moment that it’s not our freedom that does this but is instead, it’s people taking advantage of our system, to spread hate and rumor instead of actual fact, to more often make an extra $.
Since when did we the public become so gullible and begin to buy into circus “shock” reporting? When did we begin to hang first and ask questions last? Comment boards and tabloids across the net has shown especially in this case for some reason, that “witch hunts” are very much alive and well. Personally, I was under the presumption it went out with the 16th century! Each US citizen should step out of their “box” and take a REAL look around at what is happening!
Again Art, I do thank you for your consistent fact driven reporting. It has been my pleasure following your articles and I will continue to do so!

Howard, if you read this site – I support and respect you! Please take comfort that you are doing what Anna wanted you to do to the best of your ability. Your comfort will eventually come from knowing that you have protected her and Daniel and your sweet Dannilynn AS MUCH AS YOU COULD. Have faith that she is looking at you now and she knows you have been there for her as much as this crazy world will allow. Hang in there Howard. The road will open up for you in the future and you will not always carry the intense grief you feel today.

Like Lee & Lynda, this is the first time I’ve found myself caught up in something like this. I could not believe what the press was/is doing to Howard, and felt morally obliged to post comments on sites like TMZ when it all began, but like many others here, was accused of being a friend, relative or part of his legal team and had my nickname hijacked by more than one lynch mobber.

Several of you say that Anna was with Howard for 12-13 years. He was a live in attorney who worked for her and she in turn paid his expenses. During this time she had NUMEROUS men in her life, including Larry. She told many people she would NEVER go to bed with Howard. I hardly call this love. Only when she thought Larry was going to come forward did she all of a sudden “fall in love with Howard’ and proclaim him to the the father. The both knew Howard was not, but went on tv and lied about the paternity. Only when the DNA tests came about did Howard throw in the towel concerning Dannielynn. I don’t think Howard killed Anna, but he certainly did contribute to her death by giving in to her drug addiction.
As far as the Horizons, I hope Howard loses it. He needs to get a real job and stop living off of Anna’ death.

All information has dried up concerning the Bahamas court cases filed, after being such a big deal when they thought HKS was a snake. I have searched to find out what was going on. You are the only one that is telling those of us that are believers in Justice and got caught up in the case what is going on.
I salute you and Howard for fighting for Justice. Please make sure you let us know when those two scum balls, so called friends, go to court for their thievry of “their dear friend ANS”

It’s nice to see some back-up for Howard K. Stern. I personally did not need to hear it to believe in him. I just get tired of people speculating and making outrageous rumors. I wish I could give Howard a big hug!! He is doing an awesome job of holding himself together and taking care of business. He was truly there for Anna. Everyone can say what they want. Everyone shouold know that you can’t be responsible for someone else’s drug problem. He did more for her than anyone. Her life would probably been more chaotic if it weren’t for him being behind her. I am not putting her down. I was/am a big fan of hers long before her death or the death of her son. Unfortunately she had so many people “sucking the life out of her” from lawsuits to thinking she was a bibmo with no brains to thinking she did not deserve money from her billionaire husband. Its sad. She deserved it all. That billionaire was in sound mind, going to work everyday when he wanted to marry Anna (regardless of his age.) Howard if you need a professional, attractive assistant/cheerleader or just an extra friend, email me. I think you are wonderful, professional, caring, handsome and hardworking. KEEP IT UP!!!!
